Liv Shaw is an incredibly talented photographer based out of Maui, Hawaii. She is self taught from the very beginning, she shared her story with me and told me all about how she taught herself the art of photography using the internet as a source. We discussed editing tips, working with color and many other super useful tips and tricks for photographers no matter what focus.
This was a super fun conversation that I am super excited for you to hear.
excerpt from her site:
Hi! I’m Liv. I was born & raised in Switzerland and moved to Maui, Hawaii in 2021 to pursue my love of the water and lifestyle photography. I try to capture everyday moments that look authentic, natural & editorial.
I group myself as a lifestyle photographer because my photography offerings include all the things I love:
Food. (If you are or know of a chef, I will come capture your food any day. Taste tests included)
Beautiful Brands. If you own a brand & have a story, I’d love to help you tell it.
Surf. I love capturing friends & surfers out in the water.
Families & couples. If you’re traveling to Maui & want to capture your love in an authentic way, I’m your girl. Every now and then I get to shoot with little ones and it’s my favorite.
I have a genuine love for humans & capturing their stories. So if you happen to fall into one of those boxes, send me a message & we can sketch up a vision together.

If you are interested in learning about the use of flash, this podcast will have a lot of great information on how and where to begin.
had so much fun chatting with Kao. he is so extremely talented. He has figured out how to use off camera lights outdoors while making it look so beautifully natural. There is a fine balance and he has it figured out.
Excerpt from his site:
“Hi, I’m Kao Saephanh and this is One2treesmile.
I am the lead photographer of one2treesmile which was established in 2018. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing 100+ weddings since 2012 with my previous business partner. Although this company is young, the experience is definitely not lacking.
I also love family portraits as they are perfect for sharing your best memories.
If you feel any connection to my work, please say hello. I would consider it a privilege to witness a part of your story.”

This is an awesome episode where I sat down with Bart to chat all about film photo and video. He is an absolute film addict and had a ton of great information to share with me about the subject. We chatted about his story, how he got to where he is with film, his workshops and much more.
If you are interested in film photography this episode is for you.
Excerpt from his site:
I am Bart, a father, film photographer, high school teacher, my wife’s personal chef, surfer, and probably a kid forever, trying to do-it-all living on Maui, Hawaii.
I love to document life and adventure as it happens around me. I love capturing moments ranging from families and fashion to surf and travel adventures. I love to photograph candid moments of emotion and feeling between you and your loved ones.
It all started when I was in high school, the darkroom is where I would lose all sense of time. Shooting film gives me the sense of ultimate creativity, the way I see light and color, entering a state of flow and concentration, waiting, watching, anticipating for that perfect moment to happen…and then the shutter is released.
I use a camera to connect with people and capture that connection. My goal as a photographer is to use film to capture light, the beauty of our surroundings and precious moments to create photographs that you will love forever.

Craig is a talented videographer who has a ton of insight into what it is like to work with different photographers across the US. It was fun to chat with him about how to approach the wedding day as well as how to work best together with photographers during the entire day.
Excerpt from his site:
I’m a full time wedding videographer who calls the gorgeous Pacific Northwest home base. My beautiful wife (Nicole) and three amazing children (Levi, Grace & Lincoln) love our life that we get to live in our tiny little 695 ft sq home which also is within walking distance of some our closest friends… we wouldn’t have it any other way. Community and relationships are so important to us.
Traveling, exploring and road trips are a big part of what make me tick. Late summer nights, week long rafting trips down the Deschutes river, and journeys with no end in sight.
I’ve been creating films for over a decade. I’m driven to do this because it brings together two things I love… real people who care deeply about each other and the power of story through film.
I believe in making a wedding film that captures the journey you two have come on and are continuing on. I want to show the reality of who you are in a natural and authentic way. I don’t believe in making things up. Instead, I steal small moments of two people who are madly into each other to create a film that is endearing for generations.

During this episode of Fuego Magic Podcast I have a repeat guest, Chris J Evans. We chatted about all of the changes that had taken place since our last episode together. Chris made a big move from one industry to anything right before everything shut down during covid. This was a HUGE part of our convo and I think it will give great insight to those who are considering changing markets after being full established with you business where you are at. Chris moved from maui to california. He shot weddings on maui for 10 years and was killing it when he decided to change things. It has been two years since he moved and his business has not skipped a beat. He talked about everything he did to get established in his new state and how he thrived and managed to grow and expand so quickly. There are so many amazing nuggets of information in this episode I think you will enjoy!
Except from his site:
"I’ve been crafting memories for loving couples and guiding them through their wedding day since 2012. Based in Southern California I service weddings around the world from Santa Barbara to Lake Como!
Together we will create images you not only see but truly feel. Memories that transport you back to the very instant they were created. The cool breeze fluttering the back of your neck, the warmth of your soulmates arms blanketed around you. This is what you’ll feel and this is what I promise.
My work has been published in many of the top wedding magazines and industry blogs including: Brides, Martha Stewart, The Knot, Wedluxe, Destination Ido, Novelty Bride and many more.
I have built an extraordinary team of talented photographers and cinematographers to elevate your love story to nothing less than a breathtaking fairy tale.
I’m not only passionate and dedicated to my craft but also to my amazing couples and I look forward to not only our adventure together but to witnessing your lives joining as one.
From this day forward you will never walk alone."

On this episode I Lexi and I spoke all about her journey with photography all the way from the very begging. I have been enjoying these conversations because it gives new photogs a good insight as to how different each individuals journey into a photography business can be. There is no right or wrong way just your way.
Excerpt from her site: Hi! The gal behind the camera here. I'm Lexi. I grew up in a small town in Northeast Pennsylvania on a beautiful lake where you never wanted summers to end and it seemed like winters never would.
Photography has always been a passion of mine, from the time I was a toddler fascinated with my moms Panasonic camcorder, to when I bought my first real big girl camera at 13, to then finally attending college to make it a career. After graduating college with my associates degree in photography, my wanderlust decided it was time for a change of scenery, so I bought a one way ticket to Maui where I ultimately stayed when I was continuously inspired by the magic of the island and the potential to grow my business here.
I adore capturing the connection between couples and families while being in breathtaking landscapes. I'm obsessed with being around good energy.
I love people who are making a difference in the world. I love capturing human emotion and hopefully it evokes emotion inside of you to find value in the work I do. I also hope some of my work might cause you to act, to question some things, and make a change to create the reality you have the ability to create. Life is all about this moment.
Experience is king and I try to immerse myself in the present moment and experience as much as I can. I wish to get drunk on the moment and freeze it for others to feel. I am so grateful that photography gives me the ability to show others how precious this life is. Thank you. I can't wait for a lifetime of capturing moments.
