Another track from the first cassette we recorded, used to open the gig with the Wasp doing a glissando if it behaved itself (it didn't like condensation so wasn't perfect for sweaty environments like, well, clubs and places where people played live music). Song was more about the absurdity of how some middle class lefty student types were convinced there was a coup around every corner but it wasn't a particularly well-informed view.
The second track on the Torquay Tape, recorded in Feb 14 1982 at Blaze Studio. Other tracks recorded then were Palaces and Chandeliers and When the Revolution Comes.
Recorded at the Barn in Sidbury (which really was a barn), in one take, in July 1982. The eponymous song, which never really lived up to its promise, or what it sounded like in my head, at least.
Crowd favorite, opened quite a few sets with it. Recorded in the Barn at Sidbury, July 1982 on a 4 track reel-to-reel, I believe.
Always a favorite for encores. Given this was the politically charged era of Thatcher, I seemed to be predicting a future of selfish disengagement, where people were unwilling to commit beyond their myopic self-obsession. Or something. I like the tunes on this one; probably the best chorus we did. Middle eight could have been stronger.
