Jerry Jones does it again.

Isaiah Simmons. The Swiss Army knife of the Clemson defense is a player that a lot of people are excited to see come into the NFL this upcoming season. While I’m not going to sit here and tell you where I’d like to see him go or which position I hope he plays in the NFL. What I will tell you is this, Simmons is an exciting young player who like some of the most gifted offensive players in the NFL, who can line up at multiple offensive positions. Simmons does this on the Defensive side of the football. In Football, the Qb before the snap always checks the defense in order to make sure the offense is the right play to succeed. Rather if that be Heavy formations, Spreading the field out with empty sets, or whatever it is. But with Simmons it gives defenses a player that can line up anywhere on the field to help the defense. That Tight end that is tearing up the middle of the field? Simmons can cover him. That slot wr that is catching third down passes when he’s on the field? Simmons can line up against him too. You need to rush an extra defender on a key down to get the ball back to the offense? Simmons can do that effectively too. His versatility matched with his speed makes him an early favorite for defensive rookie of the year alongside Ohio State’s Chase Young.

Like I said earlier, I’m not sure which position is going to be his primary position in the league, hell they may have to make a new position for him; but Simmons is an exciting player that gives whatever team that drafts him a man of many talents on their defense.

We are still weeks away from the NFL draft but Simmons is surely a top 10 pick. This fall is going to be fun watching him all over the field.
