TOPDON USA VP Chad Schnitz

For an automotive technician, deciphering data is crucial, but understanding which diagnostic tool works best for each unique scenario that may arise in a service bay is equally important. Vehicles today are equipped with increasingly complex computer systems that generate vast amounts of data related to engine performance, emissions, and other critical functions. This data provides essential clues about the vehicle’s condition, but knowing how to interpret it effectively requires skill and experience.

Technicians must be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal readings, identify patterns in the data, and trace the root cause of a problem. Decoding this information is foundational to accurate and efficient vehicle repairs.

However, deciphering data alone is not enough.

Different vehicles, makes, models, and even specific systems within those vehicles may require specialized diagnostic tools. What works for a particular brand’s transmission issue may not be suitable for diagnosing a complex electrical problem in another car. Selecting the right diagnostic tool ensures that the technician can access the most relevant and detailed information, reducing the chance of misdiagnosis and increasing the speed and accuracy of repairs.

TOPDON USA VP Chad Schnitz joins us for an in-depth conversation, offering valuable tips on how to succeed in the service bays by selecting the right test equipment for each specific diagnostic procedure.

When it comes to auto repair, the experience can vary dramatically depending on the shop’s standards and practices.

Below-standard auto repair shops often create significant frustrations for consumers, leading to a loss of trust and confidence in the industry. These shops typically fail to meet basic service expectations, resulting in a range of issues from subpar repairs to poor customer service. Such deficiencies can manifest in various ways, including the use of low-quality parts, inadequate diagnostic procedures, and insufficient technician training. Consequently, consumers may face recurring problems with their vehicles, extended downtimes, and unexpected expenses, which can be financially and emotionally draining.

Industry Coach and talent Cecil Bullard, CEO of the Institute of Automotive Business Excellence, sheds light on the core issues plaguing below-standard auto repair shops.

Cecil points out that these substandard shops often neglect customer service fundamentals, exacerbating consumer frustrations. Poor communication & lack of transparency, are common grievances. “Customers need to feel confident that their concerns are being heard and addressed properly,” Bullard notes. When repair shops fall short in this area, it creates a disconnect and erodes the trust that is crucial for building long-term customer relationships.

Join us as we investigate some of the root causes plaguing auto repair shops.

As a 26-year chef, Martin has owned and operated ten restaurants, four of which he co-owned. In 2009, he founded Zonka Bars but encountered legal issues due to unclear medical marijuana laws. This prompted him to shift his focus from product-only to opening a sit-down restaurant.

Are 20 Groups & a Shop Coach a Complete Waste of Time? With the majority of independent shop owners across the country totally removed from any level of coaching or interest in seeking out growth from a 20 Group, we had to ask the logical question....why is this the case?

This topic is close to the heart for me personally since many years ago, with my very first operation, ( before I teamed up with a coaching group ) ...I did not believe I needed any help at all and ignorantly had everything under control while I worked 15-hour days to not only lose money..but worse yet...miss the first 5 years of my daughter's life.

On this SPECIAL EDITION of the WrenchNation show, we dig deep as to why a large majority of the industry is floating out to sea with very little lifeline to not only measure their business metrics and goals but to have a sounding board regarding decisions they make that could affect the future of their automotive ops service and... quality of life.

As the robust days of chrome and big blocks manufactured with the pride of American muscle and spirit slowly give way to the imports & domestics of sleek and efficiency style --we explore the future classic vehicle market with the talented Rebecca Ngyuen who has laid the groundwork for success within the arena of the future classic vehicle.

At-Risk Youth Issue Continues

Youth involvement in gangs is a serious problem across the country, whether you’re in a big city or the land of suburbia. Many of us see gang graffiti yet glance over it as we have become numb to the blight and crime. The National Gang Center reports that over the past decade, annual estimates of the number of gang members have averaged around 770,000 nationally.

Shift Gang Graffiti to Automotive Repair and Car Customization

Police departments are stretched thin for resources, yet officers all across our country create or volunteer to help their community. Dragg Racing Against Gangs & Graffiti (DRAGG) https://bit.ly/DRAGGTeam is an innovative afterschool program in the City of Oxnard California where police officers and people from the automotive industry mentor local high school students.

A new spin on an old idea; keep the youth focused on the future with positive influences and they will stay out of trouble. This positive learning opportunity teaches youth responsibility and respect for others in the unique environment of the automotive industry, while gaining hands on exposure to knowledge of automotive careers. These programs are also active in Phoenix, AZ, and this month launched in Los Angeles!

We are excited to talk with DRAGG Executive Director Sargeant Woodruff, with the Oxnard Police Department, and DRAGG Phoenix Director Officer Teerink, with the Phoenix Police Department, to talk about the successes and impact the DRAGG program is having on young people. Reflection Propels the Journey

We sometimes reflect about how we arrived as automotive technicians, service advisors or owners of our operations. It is the sort of reflection that we lean on regarding those difficult days or hardcore challenges. We all have our stories and life experiences that make us who we are today. Many of you race on the weekend or are carving out the ability to someday hit the race circuit professionally, of which we can all agree, is no easy task. Hard days and long nights while we continually reflect on how far we have come so we can continue the courage to keep moving forward.

The Racing Roller Coaster

Mechanic, shop owner, race car driver, journalist and novelist, Burt Levy https://bit.ly/TheLastOpenRoad is no stranger to the highs and lows of racing, or wrenching on his vehicles, while always keeping his spirit tucked tight to the automotive industry. Whether humble race beginnings behind a somewhat ragtag Triumph TR-3, to ultimately competitively hitting it hard on the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) circuit or slinging used vehicles at a dealership, Burt has always maintained a light spirited approach to the industry.

This journey would become an incredible account illustrated through one of the top motorsports book series, The Last Open Road. From renowned automotive enthusiasts like Jay Leno to celebrities of race car racing, Burt has carved out a fan base that can truly relate to his unique ability to tell that story.

The Journey of Automotive Parts

The trade wars that are currently going on are historic, especially as it relates to the automotive industry and manufacturing. GM’s Romulus Powertrain plant makes about 400,000 V-6 engines a year for high-margin Cadillac SUVs, light pickup trucks and other GM vehicles, while the process of manufacturing the critical pistons can lead to a cross border journey that most are not aware of. The Romulus built V-6 uses 235 parts from 100 primary suppliers. Sixty-seven ship from factories in the United States, 13 from Mexico, eight from Canada and 12 from elsewhere in the world. Most of the electronics come from Asia, which is a big deal.

Trade Wars & Tariff Battles

As the fight continues to position the United States in a leading role for manufacturing, we will discuss how the current tariff climate truly affects the end retail user from automotive consumers to the automotive technician, reliant on auto parts and tooling required to produce in a timely and cost effective manner. Our guest, CEO Laurie Harbour of Harbour Results Inc. https://bit.ly/HarbourResultsInc a manufacturing expert and automotive industry consultant, provides us with an inside track to the current state of affairs within the tariff and trade concerns between China and the United States.

Corvette Enthusiast

Mike Yager bought his first Corvette in 1970 when he was just 20 years old. When he saw there was no Corvette Club in his area, he started one. As the club grew he made the observation that there wasn’t a place where a Corvette fan could purchase Corvette merchandise. To remedy that, he bought whatever he could find that related to Corvette and started making it available at Corvette club events and car shows. When that worked out, he got a $500 loan to start a company that has now grown to become one of the world’s largest suppliers of parts and accessories for Corvettes… Mid America Motorworks. https://bit.ly/MidAmericaMotorworks

Corvette Fun Fest

In 1994 Mike Yager and the team at Mid America Motorworks staged a relaxed Corvette show to thank their customers and share the Corvette hobby. An enthusiastic crowd of 1,200 people brought 350 assorted Corvettes to Mid America Motorworks' corporate campus to celebrate. By 2006, thousands of Corvettes filled every available space on the grounds at Mid America Motorworks. This casual show has become the Largest Corvette Party in the World, welcoming enthusiasts from across the country and across the globe.

Corvette Hall of Fame

Mike has been a part of numerous clubs and organizations, including the National Corvette Museum where he served as its Chairman of the Board in 2002. He was also behind “Drive Your Corvette to Work Day” and organized an effort to have a commemorative stamp created to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Corvette. While he was at it, he got behind a campaign to honor Corvette’s birthday with a National Day of Recognition and in 2018 was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame.

Military Vets Struggle for Employment

We are a country that is proud of our military heroes regardless of party lines or affiliations.. What about those veterans that are returning from overseas and their prospect of a career to support their families and future and find it to be a struggle? According to many statistics and reporting, this is not always an easy transition for them and arguments that could be made on both sides that would suggest there are serious problems that need to be addressed for both the veterans and potential employer.

The Shortage of Mechanics

The shortage of automotive service technicians is indisputable, even as the industry debates its numerous causes. That gap threatens the financial health of all areas of transportation, including new car dealerships and the independent automotive marketplace. With a shortage currently top dead center in the industry and what is often a tough segue to civilian life for veterans and military families, are we as an industry seeking out the talent of our veterans? Are you as a veteran able to take advantage of programs that currently exist?

Critical Shortage

There is a critical shortage of automotive technicians and the U.S. Labor Bureau estimates about 46,000 automotive technicians will be needed by 2026. Today’s cars have more computing power than the system that guided Apollo astronauts to the moon. The Apollo 11 spaceship had 150,000 lines of code. Google’s mobile Android operating system has 12 million and the modern car can have 100 million lines of code. Modern technicians spend as much time in front of a computer as they do under a hood. These jobs require people with tactile intelligence, education and interest in S.T.E.M. related training. They need strong technology expertise and diagnostic and problem-solving skills. It’s no longer simply about wrenches and oil. It’s a world filled with advanced equipment and technology, and it requires technicians with sophisticated, high-tech training.

IMSA Was Born

Fifty years ago, a new sanctioning body emerged at a pivotal moment in motorsports history. Racing was on the upswing and new tracks were being built all across the U.S. Imported cars from Europe and Japan were flooding the market, designers were pushing limits and drivers were looking for an opportunity to race for more than just a trophy. Into this void stepped John Bishop with a fledgling organization called IMSA that offered competitive, professional racing in a friendly atmosphere and carried a new message: Racing with a Difference.

The Inside Story Now Told

In this behind the scenes book, Mitch Bishop and Mark Raffauf tell the inside story of how IMSA became a global powerhouse in just a few short years. It covers John Bishops early life, his years at the SCCA and tells the story of how IMSA grew from humble beginnings in 1969 into the Camel GT Series, a circuit that became the most popular form of professional sports car racing in the world. Interviews with many of the top drivers, team owners, car builders and others from the era helped shape this book, which also includes hundreds of never-before-published photos. The first twenty years of IMSAs history deliver fascinating stories of vision, innovation, common sense leadership and overcoming personal tragedy. Bishop and IMSA left an enormous imprint on the racing world and changed thousands of lives. This book is a must-read, for those interested in how it all happened and in learning critical management lessons still applicable in todays motor racing world. This beautiful hardcover book can be found at bookstores and Amazon https://bit.ly/IMSABook

Our Time at the Wheel is Done?!

Driving will become illegal, as human drivers will be demonstrably more dangerous than cars that pilot themselves. Is this an impossible future, or a revolution just around the corner?

Sam Schwartz, "Gridlock Sam," America's most celebrated transportation expert, describes in his book about the revolution in self-driving cars. The ramifications will be dramatic, and the transition will be far from seamless. It will overturn the job market for the one in seven Americans who work in the trucking industry. It will cause us to grapple with new ethical dilemmas, if a car will hit a person or a building, endangering the lives of its passengers, who will decide what it does? It will further erode our privacy, since the vehicle can relay our location at any moment. And, like every other computer-controlled device, it can be vulnerable to hacking.

Right now, every major car maker here and abroad is working on bringing autonomous vehicles to consumers. The fleets are getting ready to roll and nothing will ever be the same, and this book shows us what the future has in store.

Who is "Gridlock Sam"?

A well chosen name for Sam Schwartz, who has nearly 40 years of experience in the field of transportation engineering and traffic safety and is considered a worldwide authority in traffic, highway, bridge, transit and parking systems.

As the former New York City traffic commissioner at the New York City Department of Transportation, he was responsible for an 8,000-person agency, $350 million expense budget and a $700 million capital budget. Mr. Schwartz is a visiting scholar at the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management at New York University and a member of the New York Transportation Journal Editorial Board. For 25 years he has also been a professor at Long Island University and Cooper Union, where he founded the Infrastructure Institute and is the author of a fascinating look at driverless vehicles NO ONE AT THE WHEEL: Driverless Cars and the Road of the Future. https://bit.ly/SamSchwartzBook

Wayne's passion for cars started when he was a child, working alongside his father on such classics as Duesenbergs, Lincolns, Packards and Ford Model As. Then, at just 9 years of age, he experienced a life altering event: he went for a ride in his first Ferrari, a 1960 Rosso Chiaro 250 SWB to be exact. Wayne was instantly bitten by the Ferrari bug and hooked for life. Automobiles have been Wayne's passion ever since.

Wayne learned the art of Ferrari restoration from his mentor Francois Sicard -- a former Ferrari racing mechanic and widely considered to be the foremost Ferrari expert on the East Coast -- and his good friend Luigi Chinetti Jr., whose father Luigi Chinetti Sr. won the 1949 24 Hours of Le Mans race for Ferrari and opened the first Ferrari dealership in the country.

Chasing Classic Cars

With an emphasis and talent for Ferrari early on, Wayne has built a career of seeking out some of the worlds most rare vehicles of a by gone era, giving way to preservation and beauty for all to enjoy, and of course to buy!

His lifetime of experience in automobile restoration under his belt, master car restorer Wayne Carini has a resume that includes body and paint work on rare car collections owned by the likes of David Letterman, tennis great Ivan Lendl and the DuPont family.

Then comes Chasing Classic Cars, a U.S. television documentary series presented by Wayne, who owns F-40 Motorsports, who looks at classic cars from all eras, focusing on finding and getting cars running, with the option of restoration and a likely sale. The series shows the restoration and auction process, and not all projects are financially successful. It has featured cars which have not previously been shown in public for decades.

Pay It Forward

Wayne is also involved in and regularly attends many different car clubs and events to get young people involved in the car collector hobby. He believes that without young people's involvement, the car collector tradition will disappear. His latest passion is convincing families with special needs children to consider placing collector cars into a special needs trust with the hope that the cars will benefit the children in the future.

$147,000 dollars

That’s how much money our guest this week, Chris Balish, saved by making one really smart financial decision. His wife Jennifer, has saved more than $54,000 by making the same decision, thus together they’ve saved $200,000. They are completely debt-free, and within another year or two, they're going to pay cash for a house.

How did they do it? By going car free. They occasionally rent cars and frequently ride in cars, they just don't own one -- the fixed costs are too high.

There are many benefits to living car free, and the financial windfall is at the top of the list. According to the American Automobile Association, the average cost of car ownership is $8,400 a year -- over $700 per month. Keep in mind that you pay for your car in after-tax dollars. So a $700 monthly car cost eats up approximately $1,000 in salary. Every month.

How would you like to boost your income by one thousand dollars a month without a side hustle and without having to beg your boss for a raise? What could you do with that money? Lots of things. Pay off debt, like credit cards or student loans. Save it. Invest it. Buy an appreciating asset like a house or rental property. Buy Bitcoins if you're feeling sassy. Travel. Save for a child’s college. Or even pay off your mortgage and retire early. Serious question: how would you like to be debt free and have six figures of cash in the bank -- without doing any extra work?

THE CAR FREE LIFESTYLE

When you go car free not only will you save a boatload of cash, you’ll also reduce your stress level, lose weight, improve your health, live longer, retire sooner, and do your part to help fight climate change.

When Chris first got rid of his car, he was a TV News anchor in St. Louis, Missouri. Within a few months of bicycle commuting to work he lost 25 pounds and saw his abs for the first time in years. Even though he was eating as much as he wanted. It’s all possible with one smart lifestyle choice… going car free. You will still ride in cars and rent them occasionally, you just won't own one. Chris and his wife Jennifer have lived in the global epicenter of car culture, Los Angeles, California, for years.

Exciting news! Chris and his wife, Jennifer now teach a course to help you become car free and save money! Learn more about it at https://bit.ly/CarFreeCourse

Please and Thank You

Mom always said from our early years say "Thank You" and "Please," a staple of the basics towards being neighborly and thoughtful of the people around us. Over time, many of us have lost that principle of life to certain degree and in some cases all together, especially when driving our vehicles. Can we blame the time constraints of our crazy schedules that have us running around without taking time out to remember to slow our thought processes down and focus on this important activity, particularly when we are behind the wheel of what could turn into a maniacal road rage incident or worse yet, a disastrous collision with the loss of precious life?

You’re Not Alone

The fact is we are all culprits of distracted driving to some degree or another and the multitude of things that we can perform behind the wheel that can create an annoying or selfish act towards our fellow road warriors has unfortunately gotten worse. Is this attributed to technology, that is actually designed to help us, or that attention span, since we are so focused on other things that seem to be more important to us, and not being “present” to this moment that could go bad in a NY minute? We take a look at some of the most annoying driving behaviors and talk with our guest who knows first hand the tragedy of distracted driving.

Barbara Hoffman, Executive Director of Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance, stops by to share her story of losing her son Michael from a tragic red light runner and how she has campaigned diligently for safer driving habits and roadways.

The Need for Design & Speed

When we think of speed and the movement of horsepower and race vehicle designs on the track, history has proven that many can truly compete and dominate. From the early years of 1867, races were organized to prove time trials among man and machine, and ultimately progressed to competition with manufacturers, as specialist cars were designed for maximum speed. Throughout race history, from Sprint Cars to NASCAR, to IMSA, and the famed Monaco Grand Prix, this common mantra runs through the racing bloodline across the globe. Porsche Life: The Racing Intensity & History of Bruce Canepa  Among the storied history of race legends and designs, there exists a common pursuit of attention to detail and the drive for an impeccable approach to win. From the 2001 Truck Hill Climb of Pikes Peak record breaking run, to pairing up with motorsports icons Rick Mears and Monte Shelton at the 24 Hours of Daytona, then co-driving with Gianpiero Moretti in the famous MOMO team Porsche 935 at Daytona, Mid Ohio, and Riverside in 1980-81, Bruce closed out the 1980's successfully competing in his own Porsche 962 at West Coast IMSA events. In 1988, he purchased his first Porsche 959 and began development of the U.S. legal version.

We are honored to have Bruce Canepa, CEO of Canepa Group Inc., https://bit.ly/BruceCanepa, as this week’s special guest to explore his life of racing, design, restoration and the Canepa Museum, a section of the 70,000 sq.ft. Canepa facility.

The Timeless Family Classic, the Road Trip. We often think of road trips as a time to get away, visit relatives and friends and set off for the freedom of the road. But is this truly enough? The Deep Discovery of Mechanical Concerns. While receiving an oil service and basic inspection is a great start, is this enough? More importantly, what are you truly looking for from vehicle to vehicle during certain mileage intervals? The owner's manual does a pretty good job of laying out a road map of what items should be checked off at specific mileage points, but how many actually read it? Then there are the vital recall and service bulletins that may affect upcoming repairs, or that latest program to the onboard computer that could affect the operation of a multitude of systems, including how well mpg is produced? The Inspection Story You Need to Know from the Service Bays. There are hundreds of articles online regarding road trip tips and how to keep your vehicle safe and reliable. We get it. Can our vehicles pose that very same security risk with advancements of automotive technology? We have all heard and seen the widely reported incident of a Jeep vehicle purposely hacked to prove the point of how vulnerable we can be behind the wheel. Was this a "one-off" situation to prove a point by determined hackers or a viable case that could pose a more dangerous situation en masse as a potential nightmare?

Owning a vehicle is a major economic advantage and without it, hardships can certainly ensue. Most of our public transportation is not as flexible and can turn an average 30-minute commute into two hours. Vehicle ownership for low income families costs them more.  According to reports from the Federal Reserve, those individuals making $30,000 or less can pay up to 59% more in vehicle finance interest than those making $90,000 and above. With longer commutes and the inability to reach higher levels of individual economic growth, this scenario sadly plays out all across the country.

Viable automotive program creating economic opportunity and affordable vehicle ownership.  Martin Schwartz, President of Vehicles for Change, stops by this special edition of Wrench Nation Car Talk Radio. His organization is empowering families experiencing financial hardships and helping them achieve economic and personal independence through car ownership and technical training. The 2018 Ford F-150 has over 100 million lines of code, and is a sophisticated work of technology. With many automotive service facilities and parts companies offering a "Free" Check Engine Light code pull...is this enough to actually get that vehicle repaired properly?

With an ever popular option of "code pulling," we certainly do not see this in the cards as modern day vehicles continue to develop in to rolling networks of sensitive data & information.

The code gave me "Oxygen Sensor" fault, and many other code scenarios play out thousands of times a day, as some decide to run the risk of throwing parts on their vehicle like a game of backyard darts, instead of deciphering the data properly and actually testing for a true blue bonafide failure\fault.

Running a successful sport and marine business from the bottom up, Tim gives us an awesome 'roll up sleeves and get er done’ approach to life's success, as well as some real excitement about the grand opening of AAPEX Motor Club's new race track https://bit.ly/2N7xzOS where he can run that Lambo free as a bird!

Frank and Susie give their take on some not so breaking news about that awkward sleep situation and how automotive technology may come to the rescue? Ford recently announced a product that may have nothing to do with the act of driving, as it may just solely be on a mission here attempting to save your relationship. Tossing and turning like active squirrels while you sleep with your partner can be the cause of some serious sleep woes, and the big three manufacturer has figured out a way to incorporate corrective steering into your bedroom, saving the day, maybe.

Andre Purdue of the award winning Red Rock Collision Body Shop up in Cottonwood Arizona  https://redrockcollision.com/, as well as the talented master painter Jeremy Winters of Butler Collision https://www.butlercollisioncenter.com/ and host of the popular podcast Booth Talk  https://booth-talk.com/ stops by the show as we lay out tips on how to own that body shop experience if you are in a vehicle collision. When you think about a polished commercial car review, you may have some reservations about actually making a connection to the vehicle being sizzled and displayed and zone out completely.

Now don't get me wrong, commercials have their place, especially the entertaining like mini-movies during the Super Bowl.

What about searching online and doing the research, (duh Frank, a no brainer) and specifically on You Tube?

YouTube can be a powerful research weapon and when it comes to car reviews we have the authentic and raw Matt Farah, yes indeedy...well over 1000 vehicle reviews and counting people, of The Smoking Tire https://bit.ly/2CHFU72!

On this episode of Wrench Nation, he reveals his why and how it all started back during the Wild West beginnings of YouTube in 2006.

Here is a brief sample of the show transcript--Matt Farah's position on the social media aspect of what people see and what ..actually goes on behind the scenes- as well as his view on haters and the messy business in the comments section at times ...

Frank Leutz : There you go. Alright, well speaking of music..before you prepare, if I could ask this man because again, you know..hanging with the audience about what they're doing and their particular interests and goals.. YouTube is a huge world out there..

How do you prepare when you do a car review and is there a difference between, alright I'm doing this Lamborghini review or I'm doing this jeep review ..what frame of mind do you put yourself in before you start on that?

Matt Farah : I just have to picture myself as the kind of person shopping for  a vehicle in this closet and my specialty is sports cars more so than you know, truck or suv or families. So I feel like the, I have, you know, in the beginning it was more putting myself in the head of the audience. Now after 10 years of doing this I feel like the people that are still sticking around are people that are relating to my thoughts for myself. So at this point in my, when I do a car, it's what do I like and what do I not like and feel like a big chunk of the audience knows enough about me in my life, uh, that, that they can relate to that or some of them don't. Some of them think I'm stupid, but..

Frank Leutz :  ...you said something powerful right there. For a lot of our listeners, the beginnings are always messy, right ?..and we have a tendency to sort of self monitor what we do - whether we're on mic are on film.. and we may only know that there is a drive that we can do this. We believe in what we're doing....and then the comments come in..the beginning when you first started, you know, let's say 10 videos and maybe you've got three to four thousand subs on Youtube..I don't care what anybody says..that's a messy place in the comments section -yes ?

How did you handle that ..did  it affect you or did you just say .. you know what, screw this, I'm going to do me ?

Matt Farah : It's not black and white.

Matt Farah : Both..both are true. I think that there have been constructive comments, there have been kind comments, there have been comments that are critical- but written in a way that are reasonable enough & respectful that they're worthy of taking into consideration...and then there are people who were very angry for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with you, but they've chosen to expel that anger at whatever it is that you're doing that they find to, you know, subconsciously be better than whatever they're doing. You know, the problem with social media, all of it, and Youtube, Instagram, whatever it is....It's edited life.

Matt Farah : Edited life is very dangerous because to a lot of people, my life looks incredibly glamorous because I'm driving these cool cars all the time..and for a long time..I was putting out a video every day. I've since styled that back, and doing that it seems like, oh my God, like, look at all of this content you know..

Latest Used Car Scams - Tips on how to avoid common used car scams and the latest tricks and scandals that will make you run for cover. Help and tips on this episode of the podcast before you buy that used car !

You preview the vehicle and think things look on the up and up. Could be a good deal. However , did you look for that illuminating check engine light on the dash with the key on (bulb test) ? One of the most gut wrenching and wallet robbing scams is the removal of the check engine light bulb --essentially hiding a known vehicle repair. A quick and easy thing to check before you buy that creampuff. Turn the key on (do not start engine) and watch for a quick illumination of that little check engine light --if it isn't lighting up , ya just may want to walk away, or have it pre inspected by a certified mechanic before spending your precious money here.

You were told the headlight that isn't working needs a bulb. A simple fix you believed, until you realize that this is half of your vacation money and needing an H.I.D. repair or replacement. Always be cautious here, as headlight technology has gotten beaucoup expensive.

You pre inspect that potential home your buying right ? You definitely need that same attention before you buy that used vehicle with a pre purchase inspection by a certified mechanic\automotive technician.

Check out our friends list\section for a garage that may be in your neck of the woods--if not you can always reach out here and we will get you in the right hands !
