He has been the assistant dean of the Black Studies Center and an adjunct professor in the department of Africana. He currently serves as director of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Program. It was in early 2016 that the office of President Barack Obama, along with the Corporation for National Community Service, presented Pritchett with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Born in Northern Ireland, he studied at Queen’s University in Belfast and worked as a producer for the BBC until becoming a freelance writer in the mid-1980s. He was the poetry editor of The New Yorker from 2007-2017 and has served as a professor of poetry at both Oxford University and Princeton University, and he currently occupies the Howard G.B.
