Like most places in Salem,Massachusetts Saint Peter's Episcopal Church can trace it's origins back to the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Phillip English, a wealthy shipping merchant was accused of being a witch after speaking out about the witch trials when his wife was accused. The trials led to English's imprisonment and a showdown with crooked sheriff George Corwin. English regained some of his property and eventually sold a plot of land to a church for a sanctuary and a burying ground. Over time the church grew and expanded over the graves. Today it's thought to be one of the most haunted buildings in Salem.

YMCA founder Franklin W. Smith came to St. Augustine with dreams of opening a lavish resort for all his snowbird friends up north. Unfortunately after he built the hotel he ran out of money and it was bought by Henry Flagler. And like Flagler's other old hotel the Casa Monica is thought to be one of the most haunted places in St. Augustine.

In the late 19th century Antonio Monteleone opened a hotel in the French Quarter that quickly became the place to be. While the Tennessee State Prison is best known as the place where Tom Hanks filmed The Green Mile, the old prison is believed to be one of the most haunted places in the Volunteer State. For 90 years the prison was home to some of the most vile murderers, rapists and other hardened criminals. In fact, James Earl Ray, the man who killed Dr. Martin Luther King spent time in the prison before it was shut down in 1992.

Built in 1900, the old Bullitt County courthouse was ground zero for one of the most deadliest train crashes in the history of Kentucky in December 1917. Two trains full of people who had been out Christmas shopping collided approximately 40 feet from the building. While the injured were taken to nearby churches and hospitals the dead were brought to the courthouse.
Since the deadly crash 'The Lady in Lace' has been spotted inside the courthouse and people claim to see and hear strange things inside the building.

Anyone who goes to Savannah, Georgia is familiar with the Waving Girl statue on River Street. Honoring local woman Florence Martus, the statue was erected in 1971 and is considered to be the unofficial greeter to every ship that comes into the Port of Savannah.
Although Florence was a beloved and celebrated figure in the low country some say her spirit isn't happy as the statue has been moved in recent years. German immigrant Johann Lotz moved to Franklin, Tennessee to open a carpentry business. However, as the Civil War ravaged the country Lotz's home became ground zero for the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864. The battle ended with over 9,000 casualties, most of which took place in Lotz's front yard. Now the Lotz House is thought to be the most haunted place in Franklin, Tennessee.

After earning the first license to mix and dispense medicine in Louisiana Louis Dufilho Jr. opened a pharmacy in the French Quarter, even though he practiced primitive procedures like bloodletting and leeches Dufilho was a respected apothecary. However, Dr. Joseph Dupas, the man who bought his old building and opened up his own practice was quite the opposite. He was was one of the most vile and evil men to practice medicine in New Orleans.

Before the Civil War the son of a wealthy judge, John Overton Jr. bought a plot of land in downtown Nashville and began building a lavish hotel. Then when the Union army rolled into town the unfinished hotel became a prison where captured Confederate soldiers were held. After the war the hotel was finished and was one of the premier places to stay in Nashville in the early 20th century. Unfortunately a deadly fire in 1961 destroyed the building.

Delphine LaLaurie is one of the most controversial figures in the history of New Orleans. A descendant of a prominent Irish family LaLaurie married into money on three seperate occasions and was considered to be one of the most prominent women in the Crescent City.
However, despite her immense wealth and prestigious spot in New Orlean's upper crust LaLaurie was rumored to beat and mutilate slaves in her home for years. It was a loosely kept secret until a fire in her home led to a gruesome discovery when firefighters discovered what Madame Lalaurie was really up to.

Long before the Moon River Brewing Company set up shop on West Bay Street the building was home to the City Hotel. This was the scene of a tense showdown between the town bully, James Stark and a local physician, Dr. Phillip Minis that resulted in a murder.
