Their goal is for govt. schools, media, etc. to actively encourage homosexuality.---- The Hate Crimes Prevention Act, US law since 2009, lays the legal foundation to investigate and prosecute pastors and anyone else whose speech is based upon the truths found in the Bible.---- -If a homosexual merely claims he feared bodily injury by a Christian-s words, the Christian can be thrown in prison for a felony -hate crime.' Under the strictest definition of of the law, any preaching against any sin, especially that of homosexuality could be considered hate language and therefore a hate crime.- If convicted, a person could spend as much as 10 years in prison.----- What is next- Will it be a crime to say what the Bible says about adultery, fornication, prostitution, etc. because some people are offended- Since I Cor. 1-18 teaches us that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, it is offensive to them. How long will it be before sharing the Bible will be a hate crime----- This is what Christians need to do...

The Bible claims to be inspired by God. How do we know that-----There is one grand difference between Christianity and all other faiths. All others are focused on man- Man seeks God. The Bible focuses on God- God chooses whom He will save. -Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you...- -- Jn. 15-16a.----Non-Christian faiths are based on human effort. Only Christianity is based on divine revelation.----This is the third sermon in a mini-series on how we got the Bible within the larger series on the book of Revelation.
-And he is the propitiation for our sins- and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.-----This verse puzzles some believers. Nor the authors of the Westminster Standards. Nor the Puritans.----Because that is not taught in the Bible.----This sermon is probably unlike any you have ever heard before.
If someone were to ask you, -why are we here-- or -what is the purpose of life-- what would you say-----Would you say, -the purpose of life is to believe in Jesus and then witness to people-- In essence, -get saved and save others- or words to that effect.----If so, you need to hear this sermon.-----It begins with a brief clarification of how a Christian is to understand the verses in I Cor. 10 dealing with food sacrificed to idols.-
To modern man, the Bible is on trial, and he judges whether or not it is true. If he finds it to his liking he might believe it, at least the parts that make sense to him. That is man-centered faith, which is not faith at all.---- This is how many Christians witness- they talk about what Christ has done in their lives, they cite -evidences- from archeology, science, history, etc. They try to talk people into the kingdom. Often that produces man-centered faith and phony -conversions.----- The Lord says in Heb. 11-1 that that faith comes before evidence. In fact, Heb. 11-1 says that faith IS the evidence - all the evidence you need. How can that be- This is backward to the way modern Western minds think. We are trained to think that our reason looking at evidence is sufficient to judge everything, including the Bible. But the Bible says faith must govern our reason.---- Almost all people have reason, but not all people fear the Lord, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom -Ps. 111-10 and other places-. Reason and wisdom are two different things. Faith, so called, that comes from reason is not faith at all. Faith is a gift from God -Eph. 2-8-10-.---- But what of reason- Surely I am not saying that you should believe something in the Bible if it goes against your reason- That is precisely what I am saying. -1- Your reason -and mine- fell in the Garden of Eden and is corrupt. It often gives wrong answers- -2- Your reason was created by God. What is created cannot judge the One who created it.---- This sermon has much more.
-Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city.- -Rev. 22-14-.-----You Calvinists, believers in sovereign grace, in election and predestination, that salvation is all of God and nothing of man, this verse proves you wrong. It could not be more clear- It says that those who do God's commandments will be saved.-----Yes, the verse says that. And if the Bible says it, we must believe it.----What we don't have to believe, in this case should NOT believe, are our own assumptions about what words mean, especially words in the Bible. The Bible must be its own dictionary.----This sermon explains why this verse, rather than proving works-righteousness-Arminianism, actually proves the opposite.
Rev. 22-11a, -He that is unjust, let him be unjust still- and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still...-----If unbelievers knew about this verse they would use it as an excuse to continue in sin. For the second time the Apostle John is recorded as having fallen down to worship at the feet of an angel and is rebuked by the angel -Rev. 22-8- 19-10-.----How could John commit such a grievous sin- What IS John's problem-----John's problem is one every human being has. -Nothing is more carefully guarded in the Bible than the purity and simplicity of worship- nothing is more sternly rebuked than idolatry- nothing is more contrary to the divine law than rendering in any way that homage to a creature which belongs of right to the Creator. It was necessary to guard even John, the beloved disciple, on that subject- how much more needful, therefore, is it to guard the church at large -- and, I would add, your own heart -- from the dangers to which it is liable.- -- Albert Barnes.
How wonderful and noble are these words which come from the lips of the dying Savior as he hangs on the cross of Calvary- What comfort and hope this blessed promise of salvation must have been for that miserable wretch, the thief who professes faith in Jesus Christ, as he is also dying, hanging on his own cross next to the King and Lord of glory. As Calvin puts it, this penitent thief comes to adore Jesus as King on the gallows tree.----Listen to how this sweet promise of sure, swift, and satisfying salvation is given by Jesus to this wretched dying thief in the midst of so much wickedness, malice, darkness, mockery, devilishness, and dreadful judgement in the scene of crucifixion which is so vividly expressed to us in the gospel record.

Thyatira had no special significance, religious or political. When we read of the prophet's anger to the Lord in this text, we may scratch our heads and ask if Jonah was a madman. But how does the Lord respond to Jonah's anger- - with a question intended to probe his heart- -Doest thou well to be angry------While it is good for us to examine this question which the Lord puts to Jonah, we must not leave it there. We must also turn the Lord's question around and point it at ourselves. The book of Revelation expands upon numerous Old Testament passages. In fact, one cannot understand the book of Revleation without some familiarity with the OT - that is why Revelation is such a mystery to many today because their churches virtually ignore the OT. If you are part of a church that pays scant attention to the OT, perhaps regarding it as just a history book with some moral lessons here and there...if your pastor uses the phrase -New Testament Christian- to describe himself or the congregation...I urge you to find another church. If you don't know the OT you will never receive the blessings that God intends for you from either the OT or the NT. The more you understand the OT the more you will understand the New- the more you will know Christ.
Marriage is an honorable institution which God himself has ordained. When we reproach marriage we sin- we are holding the Giver of good gifts in contempt. Marriage should be highly esteemed and celebrated, not trampled upon by the treachery of men who want to put away their wives so they can marry someone new. ----Hear how the Word of God teaches us that the Lord God has appointed the season of our youth to be the proper time for marriage. God ordained marriage even so that our spouse may be our dearest companion from the days of our youth and onward to the end of our lives.
Do you know yourself- The Prodigal Son did not know himself until he came to himself. He was beside himself, mad and blind by his abandonment to sin. When he comes to himself, he comes to his right mind, to a soundness of mind. ----Return, O backslider, to our Heavenly Father- Listen to the trouble you will have when you don't know yourself.
