MESSAGE NOTES: Title: “Poser” Romans 7:14-25 Ezekiel 16:28 ESV 1 Corinthians 16:13 ESV Realization: I can act in a way that is less than my identity (but doesn’t change it).
God will always transform the human heart.
Never lie about where you are, but don’t choose to sit in it if it’s not where you want to be.
God doesn’t promise to change your feelings, but to change your desires.
We might be wise to follow the insight of the enraptured heart rather than the more cautious reasoning of the theological mind. – AW Tozer
If you don’t follow the desires God has given you, eventually you will become numb to it.

DISCUSSIONAs you reflect on the message this week, use some of these questions to consider how God might be working within and around you. Questions for Reflection: * When you see someone do you have a tendency to evaluate them by their actions, or by their desires? * How is a lack of honesty (acknowledging current reality) holding your back? How is a value on authenticity (always acting based upon emotion) limiting your growth? * What does this quote by AW Tozer lead you to reconsider “We might be wise to follow the insight of the enraptured heart rather than the more cautious reasoning of the theological mind.” * God calls people to not live at a level less than the identity he has purchased for them. What does that mean for you?

We don’t need a perfect circumstance to live out God’s calling, all we need is the passion to pursue it.
Something that has to happen:
Character is Recovered.
You cannot get character through a pursuit of character, only through selflessness.
The 2 Great errors:
1) Thinking you have to get your life cleaned up before you can come to God.
2) Thinking the call of God on your life is to just sit.

MESSAGE NOTES:Luke 5:31 – “Healthy people don’t need a doctor, sick people do.” Our narrow view of health has led us to fixate on one or two areas of health at the expense of all others. A better view to take would be whole-being wellness.
Wellness is not simply the absence of disease, illness, or stress, but the presence of purpose in life, active involvement in satisfying work and play, joyful relationships, a healthy body and living environment, and happiness. It incorporates the mental, emotional, physical, occupational, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of a person’s life. – The American Psychological Association
Jesus offers healing in all eight domains of wellness:
- Luke 5: 1-11 speaks of occupational and intellectual healing.
- Luke 5: 12-15 speaks of physical, social, and emotional healing.
- Luke 5: 17-26 speaks of spiritual and physical healing.
- Luke 5: 27-31 speaks of financial and occupational healing.
- Luke 5: 33-39 speaks of the importance of environment to our healing.
What part or parts need attention? Where do you feel off? How is it effecting the other areas of your life?
The myth of self-sufficiency will tell you that you need to be able to fix yourself, to heal yourself, and to achieve wellness on your own. The truth is that we cannot achieve wellness on our own – just as Simon, the man with leprosy, the paralyzed man, and Levi needed help to find their path to healing, we do, too. Wellness is a process, it takes time, and you’re going to need help.
People who have embraced wellness as a way of life invite others into it. Click To Tweet

Switch your understanding of obligation from “something you have to do but don’t want to do” to “deciding your destiny in advance”.
We do not believe our way into our beliefs. We behave our way into our beliefs.
God gives you a structure for your faith to thrive.
Matthew 11:30 Sustaining faith is about taking emotion out of the decision to engage through obligation.
