God is very clear on His feelings of idols and making an image of anything, even Himself, that is worshiped. So if He has strong feelings against it, why did he instruct for the Ark of the Covenant and the Bronz Serpent to be created.

John does not mention in his gospel that Jesus told them of His death and resurrection. All John told us, according to the KJV, they knew not the scriptures after seeing the empty tomb. But we know from Matthew, Mark, & Luke that Jesus did tell them what was going to happen. Is this a contradiction, or is it poor translation?

How long was the ark afloat? For seven months or so. Genesis 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

How many sons does God have? God has only one son (Jesus). John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Everyone has grown up understanding the act of lying is wrong. On that point, there is a variety of understanding if and when it is okay to lie. Is it wrong to lie? No. God rewarded the Egyptian midwives for lying to the Pharaoh.

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men-children alive? And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives. Exodus 1:18-20 Rahab was "justified" when she lied about Joshua's spies.

And the woman [Rahab] took the two men and hid them and said thus: There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were; and it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark that the men went out; whither the men went I wot not; pursue after them quickly, for ye shall overtake them. But she had brought them up to the roof of the house and hid them with the stalks of flax. Joshua 2:4-6 Was not Rahab, the harlot, justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?. James 2:25

David lied to Ahimelech when he said he was on the king's business. (He was King Saul's enemy at the time.) We know that God approved of this lie, since 1 Kings 15:5 says that God approved of everything David did, with the single exception of the matter of Uriah.

Tobias said to him: I pray thee, tell me, of what family, or what tribe art thou? And Raphael the angel answered ... I am Azarias. Tobit 5:16-18 Jesus lied when he told his family that he wasn't going to the feast, but later went "in secret."

[Jesus said] Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast. ... But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. John 7:8-10 Even God lies now and then by putting lying spirits in the mouths of his prophets.

God sees and knows all things. God knows everything.

God ... knoweth all things. 1 John 3:20 He's a mind reader.

No thought can be withholden from thee. Job 42:2 He knows the secrets of everyone's heart.

For he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Psalm 44:21 Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men. Acts 1:24

You can't hide from God. He's everywhere.

Whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Psalm 139:7-8 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Jeremiah 23:24

His eyes are everywhere; he can see everything.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place. Proverbs 15:3 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. Jeremiah 16:17

There are some things that God doesn't know and can't see. God couldn't see Adam and Eve when they hid in the Garden of Eden.

(He couldn't see it from where he was sitting.)

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower. Genesis 11:4-5 When God and his friends visited Abraham, they didn't know where Sarah was.

The LORD appeared unto him [Abraham] in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him. ... And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.Genesis 18:1-9 As God pondered murdering everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah, he asked himself, "Shall I hide from Abraham the thing that I do?"

And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do? Genesis 18:17 God had to come down to Sodom to see if the Sodomites were as bad as he'd heard.

And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and, if not, I will know. Genesis 18:20-21 God didn't know that Abraham feared God until Abraham showed his willingness to murder his son for God.

For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. Genesis 22:12 After God lost a wrestling match with Jacob, he asked Jacob his name. (God didn't know who he was wrestling with.)

And he [God] said unto him [Jacob], What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.... And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face. Genesis 32:27-30 Before opening the mouth of Balaam's ass (Numbers 22:28-20), he asked Balaam who were the men that were with him.

And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? Numbers 22:9 God led the Israelites for forty years (on a trip that should have taken a few weeks) so that he could know what was in their hearts.

God led thee these forty years in the wilderness ... to know what what in thine heart. Deuteronomy 8:2 If a prophet or dreamer of dreams tells you to worship other gods. Kill him. God sends guys like that every now and then to see if you love him enough.

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ... And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death. The Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 13:3 God has tested Hezekiah to see what is in his heart.

God left him [Hezekiah], to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart. 2 Chronicles 32:31 Before God and Satan played their cruel game with the lives of Job and his family, God asked Satan what he'd been up to lately.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, from going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Job 1:7, 2:2 The Israelites set up kings and princes without God's knowledge.

They [the Israelites] have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not. Hosea 8:4 Jonah tried to hide himself from the presence of the Lord by sailing to Tarshish. But God sent a storm that scared the sailors, who knew that Jonah was running away from God's presence.

But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. ... Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him. We are taught to follow our hearts and persure our passions and to trust what we see truth is, is truth. Is this an acceptable traight of a christian? Should we determine ourselves what is right and wrong and should we persue our dreams and let our passions lead us?

Should we follow our own hearts? We should follow our heart and eyes. Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these [things] God will bring thee into judgment.

We should not follow our heart and eyes. Numbers 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Are we to be concerned about other "gods." Through history, people have worshiped idols and deities and Apostle Paul expressed his concern for them? Paul seems relaxed and thinks it's no big deal at first, but further reading in his letter to the Corinthians he shows more concern.

Is it OK to eat meat sacrificed to other gods? Sure, a little meat never hurt anybody. Besides, the other gods don't exist. 1 Corinthians 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

1 Corinthians 8:4-8 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that [there is] none other God but one.

For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

Howbeit [there is] not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat [it] as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

The Bible encourages believers to seek God and He will be found. This does not mean physically but something much deeper. When we need encouragement, love, acceptance, peace, joy, salvation, a friend, a father, we can reach out to God for these and God has always reminded His people to do so. But then we have scriptures like the ones in Psalms, where the writer felt lonely, sad, depressed and they reached out to God but felt like they were being ignored. Is God not holding up to His end of the deal or is there something much deeper going on?

Can God be found? God will be found by those who seek Him. Proverbs 2:3-5 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, [and] liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as [for] hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Matthew 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Luke 11:9-10 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

God will not be found by those who seek Him. Psalm 18:41 They cried, but [there was] none to save [them: even] unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

Proverbs 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Lamentations 3:8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

Lamentations 3:44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that [our] prayer should not pass through.

Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

The Apostle Paul taught in his letter to the Romans, works will not justify you but faith will like Abraham. James, the brother of Jesus, tells the church in his letter that it was works that justified Abraham. It seems like Paul and James don't agree on what justified Abraham as a righteous man and we may have a true contradiction. But one question we have to ask ourselves, are Paul and James talking about the same kind of works?

A very well know trait of God is love and the Bible clarifies that not only does He love, but He is Love. Every minister has spoken on God's love and we read time and time again in the Bible where God shows His love. But what about when God says he hates someone and no longer loves them. Can a God who is love hate as well?

Does God love everyone? Yes, he loves everyone. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

No, he hates some people. Leviticus 20:23 And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

Psalm 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Proverbs 6:16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:

Hosea 9:15 All their wickedness [is] in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes [are] revolters.

Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

This week's "contradicting" verses Should you pray for everyone? Yes, you should pray for everyone. 1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

No, there are some people you shouldn't pray for. Jeremiah 7:16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.

Jeremiah 11:14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear [them] in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

Is it okay to ask for things while praying? Importunity in prayer commanded Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

Luke 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

Importunity in prayer condemned Matthew 6:7-8 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Yes, Jesus taught them how to pray. Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

No, they don't know how to pray. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Christians should not pray in public. Matthew 6:5-6 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Christians should pray in public. John 11:41-42 Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Where did the birds come from?

From the waters.

Has God wrote out our future and no matter our efforts, the end is going to be what it is set to be. Is everything we do to avoid eternal damnation in vain for some. There are people who believe that God has already chosen those who will ascend to heaven and be cast into hell, rather or not they have repented and live to God's standard. Does God Sleep? He never sleeps

David Was With Others Matthew 12:3-4 (AMP) - 3 He said to them, “Have you not read [in the Scriptures] what David did when he was hungry, he and those who accompanied him— 4 how he went into the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests only?

Mark 2:25-26 (AMP) - 25 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read [in the Scriptures] what David did when he was in need and was hungry, he and his companions;26 how he went into the house of God in the time of Abiathar, the high priest, and ate the sacred bread, which is not lawful for anyone but the priests to eat, and how he also gave it to the men who were with him?”

Luke 6:3-4 (AMP) - 3 Jesus replied to them, “Have you not even read [in the Scriptures] what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him—4 how he went into the house of God, and took and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful [for anyone] to eat except the priests alone, and [how he also] gave it to the men who were with him?”
