Doug Deaton is a retired LEO and the proprietor of RDR Texas a Private Investigation firm focused on Expert Witness Opinion and Crisis Management. Doug and I discussed what we believe will be a new challenge to those teaching self defense with a firearm, legal Culpability. In other words you could be held responsible for the material you teach and how it is implemented and may incur liability if that material is not of a sound origin. Pretty wordy way to say "Careful what you say and do when teaching a class". If you are an armed citizen you should take time to vet your instructors, if you are an instructor you should have a well documented lesson plan. Stay tuned!

Last week Lee Weems and I broke the internet a bit about the sub second draw..... This week we won't discuss that too much anyway. You can check that out on Lee's new podcast "That Weems Guy" on YouTube and Apple Podcast. This week we do our best to tackle the "COPs cant shoot" belief by some of the defensive carrier community. I can't say it is a patently false statement but I will say there is a lot of context that gets left to the imagination. Enjoy this weeks episode, I'll be taking some much needed range time this week!

Joining me this week is Tim Chandler from Justified Defensive Concepts. Tim and I dive deep on the Scattergun, Boomstick, Shotty, Street Howitzer or whatever you call the Shotgun. Find out why it has fallen from prominence as the LEO shoulder gun of choice and how it is as valid now as it has ever been and maybe more so for both the armed citizen and the LEO.

I started in to the realm of LE work when the 40 S&W was the ruler of the roost for the modern officer. This episode Hany and I talk a little history on our old preferred duty pistols, common calibers and the reason behind them, and our fondness for other obscure semi-auto calibers. This is a little trip down memory lane for two old cops with a lot of history on the semi-auto. So what's your favorite auto caliber?

Darryl Bolke is back again for a follow on to the S Dave episode. As an LEO we are often in the "Prisoner Taking" role or the "People Management" role in our daily duties. DB and I unpack several differences between "Gunfighting" and "Fighting when a gun is involved". As a defensive carrier it is important to make the distinction between fighting with a gun and gunfighting.

This podcast topic quite possibly takes the Darwin Training Award for this century. An agency has decided that training shooting to "wound" is now somewhere on the scale of reasonably necessary.....I do believe I have seen and heard it all at this point. For those armed citizens out there, just don't. Darryl Bolke joins me again and after the steam stopped coming out of our ears from the abject recklessness of this concept we put our heads together for a Podcast. We called on our combined years of actual knowledge on the subject to tell you the listener SHOOTING TO WOUND IS A TERRIBLE IDEA.
