In 2 Timothy 3, Paul warns Timothy about the last days being days of immense difficulty. We are currently living in the last days, the post Jesus resurrection era. These are days of difficulty because people are led by their self-love and their desires rather than the truth. Through the presence of genuine spiritual role models in our lives and ultimately the Word of God, we can navigate through these times and help bring people back to God.

Therefore, it is worth it to lay aside everything that hinders us from running this Christian race well in this life for the eternal reward awaiting us later!

From where do you draw your identity? In Psalm 1, the blessed life is marked by the person who is like a rooted tree, in other words, a person who embraces their different roles within the context of their community, whether it be friend, mentor, parent, spouse, etc. Though in some ways to be a rooted tree is limiting and not as free, God designed us to thrive the most in the context of his boundaries and the community that he's placed us in.

Part 4: The Burning Bush

Moses encounters a burning bush that is on fire, yet is not consumed. When we allow God to burn away the impurities in our lives, what remains is a purified, unshakeable, and humble self that He can use.

Part 2: Is God Aloof and Distant?

Does God care about what I’m going through? In the midst of the grand scale of the universe, we may feel small and insignificant. But the Bible paints a vivid picture of a God who loves us and knows us intimately.

Part 1: Is God a cosmic vending machine?

Is God just a cosmic vending machine, in that you do something for God, and he gives you something good in return? We address this misconception of God by exploring the older son in the prodigal son story in Luke 15, and learning how God instead wants a thriving relationship with us.

Part 3: Sojourner and Exile

Moses is exiled from Pharaoh’s domain, rejected by his own people, and forced to settle in an unfamiliar land. Similarly, while we are strangers and sojourners on this earth, we are called to take on the burden and mission of God along with God’s people.

Part 2: A Baby in a Basket

Moses’ mother makes a desperate, almost foolish effort to save her child despite the odds — but in doing so, preserves the life of her beloved son, the future leader of the Israelites. Exodus 2 exhorts us not to give in to our cynicism, but to be people of faith, love, and action.

Daniel and his Friends

The book of Daniel takes place thousands of years ago, but Daniel’s experience of Babylonian exile and the modern freshman’s experience of college is not as different as you might think.  In today’s sermon we take a look at some of the lessons college students today can draw from four young men who held on to their faith in the face of an entire empire.

Part 1: Pharaoh: Powerful or Paranoid?

Pharaoh, the most powerful figure of his time, was driven by fear and threat. Turns out, many of us are the same way! Exodus teaches us to drive out our fears with a greater, proper fear of God.

Extravagant Love

A woman pours out a very expensive ointment on Jesus. The disciples are indignant at the waste, but Jesus calls it beautiful. Mark 14 provides a challenging picture of what it looks like to love and serve Jesus.

Part 5: Secret Deeds

It comes so naturally for us to do things to receive recognition, admiration, and praise from others — and it’s no exception when it comes to our Christian lives. Jesus reminds us that we have a Heavenly Father and teaches us to practice secret acts of worship as a personal devotion unto God.
