Just a PhD student reading comic books and offering his opinion. Because there are not enough of those out there on the internet.

A bumper episode where so much is discussed. I go through my thoughts on many of the animated Spider-Man series that have been let loose on this world we live. We also discuss Moon Knight, Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad, The Joker scene cut from The Batman, and more!

Comic books are off course the main course here, and No Man's Land finally gets going (sort of) and Rodrigo takes us through some of the Grant Morrison era of X-Men.

The Batman is out and so it must be discussed! From ineffective bombs to the face to perhaps the best Batmobile sequence put to film, we talk about it here. Rodrigo continues his quest to read every last thing Brian K. Vaughan has written and Daniel gets us one step closer to the start of No Man's Land.

Daniel has read a lot this month, and yet talks for an incredibly short amount of time; Batman, Venom, and Y: The Last Man. Rodrigo dives into The Magic Circle by Mark Millar.

Whilst there is no MCU to discuss this month, the power of Disney continues to puncture this show as we spend a good chunk of time discussing The Book of Boba Fett.

Another month, another episode of A PhD Student Reads...

This month saw the release of the next chapter of the MCU - The Eternals. And like most of the internet we have a lot to say on it. What we don't have a lot to say about is Venom: Let there be Carnage however.

And of course we talk comic books too; Sex Criminals wraps up for me and Rodrigo discovers more about The Eternals through the wonder that is Neil Gaiman.

PSA: I (Daniel) had some major technical issues when recording and so if I sound odd that's why. I tried my best to salvage it, as good discussions were had.

The podcast comes of age in episode 19 as we cover two books with some similar themes handled very differently. We also discuss the newly released Shang-Chi, the latest Spider-man movie, and I have to say the word "cum" a lot courtesy of Matt Fraction.

Age of Apocalypse if over (yes I know there is more, but it is over for me), and do you know what this volume wasn't half bad! I would even go as far as to say that it was GOOD! Rodrigo continues his Bendis run of Daredevil, as Matt Murdock continues to have a miserable life. But we look at some lovely art too.

To top it all off we discuss the new Mortal Kombat movie.

In the wake of George Floyd's death demonstrations erupted around the world highlighting the systemic racism in many of our communities and the over militarisation of many police forces around the world. Here we will discuss a graphic novel talking these issues head one whilst also being aimed at teenagers and young adults, and illicit an emotional response in my. And hopefully it will do so in you.

I promise I am trying to work on getting the audio quality of this show better, I actually quite like making it. So I might as well try and do it properly.

Oh boy...

Firstly I keep calling this episode 4 when really it is 3. Making the first one episode 0 is throwing my addled brain off. I say "Um" about 1,000,000 times too, much to your listening delight I am sure.
