The world feels like it is in good hands.
Jin and Sabina are two recently graduated high school students from New South Wales who wanted to see change.
As students of colour that felt comfortable in the activist space, they wanted to do more. For them, it's not okay to not be racist, we need to be anti racist and making changes both individually and societally to overcome this insidious issue.
We talk about how they got into this space, how they hope their kit will be used and their ultimate why as young people of colour.

This is the most chaotic episode I have ever recorded.
We have children interrupting the recording (mine) and power outages (not mine) and we perservered. I made the conscious decision to leave most of the chaos in because it is a true reflection of what my teaching life (and I am sure many others) has been like this year.

Hunter is incredibly accessible and supports both neurodiverse and neurotypical in breaking down some stereotypes and offering up solutions.

He appears to have nine lives, living many different experiences and having a variety of roles.
Working in these different fields has afforded him a genuine insight into university where he mentored PHD students and wrote reports that informed environmental legislation. He also taught adults for a number of years and is now instrumental in the movement of automated processes in industry.

He is a tradie by day who writes poetry as a form of expression in his spare time.
He has just published his first childrens book and is writing a script for a short film on the more challenging experiences in his life. Reuben talks about being lost in the education system, confusing happiness with drugs and alcohol consumption. The importance of true connections and having to hit rock bottom in order to come back home to himself.
One of the more authentic conversations I have had and I know Reuben's story is not necessarily a unique one, but one that needs to be heard so that we can shift the outcome of these normalised, yet detrimental behaviours in our society.

In the first five years of teaching there is a mass exodus of educators. Teacher burn out is real as well as the stark realisaion by those that used teaching as a back up job, that it is anything but.
Today I talk to one of those people that left the profession and what roles she was awarded based on her background in education.

I had the privilege of chatting to this talented musician, who just happens to be completing Year 12 right now during isolation in Victoria - Australia.
I wrote a blog about losing touch with our younger selves as we age and this conversation was an important one for me. To hear the way the world is percieved through the eyes of this 17 year old is something that needs to be out in there right now, especially as these kids are the ones directly affected by learning through a screen.

My first discussion is with Jess, an ex student of mine. In fact - I taught Jess on my very first day of teaching in 2008.
Jess is now a practicing psychologist and has worked in private practice and is currently working in a school setting.
She is honest, thoughtful and insightful in this episode. We talk all things mental health and identity building and I think her message is an important one.
