The Young Black Queens Podcast is an extension of the website, theyoungblackqueens.com. This podcast gives YBQ a playground to speak on politics, Black girl issues, and another tool to speak with other Young Black Queens on topics you are interested to hear!
In this episode, YBQ sits down with Khadija, Essence, Precious, an Tomi to talk all things Imposter Syndrome and how we learned to cope and grow in the classroom. As attendees at a Predominately White Institution (PWI), we reflect on troubling times feeling inadequate in white spaces not built for us, learning how to cope and overcome, and come out on top!
On this weeks episode, I tackle the topic of Performative activism and why it is so detrimental to the Black community. It is extremely important that the Black community and authentic allies are aware of the performative activism that many non-poc/poc that take part in only in efforts to turn the Black Lives Matter movement into what looks like a trend when it is quite literally a movement that is rallying for radical change on the behalf of the Black lives that are endangered by corrupt police and civilians. Also emphasizing that accountability to our non-Black counterparts is highly necessary to bring about real change.

In this episode, I discuss how difficult it can be to experience burnout as a creator, going through the motions, remembering your why, and making a comeback at creating good content. It is my hope that this episode encourages any Queens that can relate to feeling discouraged, unfulfilled, and unmotivated to accomplish goals as a result of facing burnout. This too shall pass...
