In this podcast, the president of CECGO, Prof. Christoph Zielinski, describes the problems and shortcomings of cancer care in Central and Southeastern Europe, as compared to the Western part of the contiinent and describes ways to overcome the deficits by reduction of systemic health inequalities and improvement of access to cancer care by focussing on prevention, screening, early diagnosis, and access to state of the art cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Dashboard which has been developed together with key opnion leaders including oncolocgists, patient advocates, representatives of policy making bodies and reimbursement agencies calls for very defined endpoints which would result in an amelioration of the spent financial means, but - importantly - to a reduction in mortality from cancer in the region by 50% until 2030.
