The parable of the talents is about how a master entrusts capital to his servants to invest and grow whilst he is on a long journey. The parable got me thinking about how we have human capital at our disposal but a lot of leaders today do not manage that human capital correctly. We still live in an age where nepotism is prevalent and talented people are overlooked because leaders are threatened by their potential.
In this episode, I share 5 reasons why I think talent management is important and it was all inspired by the faithful scriptures in Luke 25.

What do you do when your whole world is turned upside down and you are asked to accept it and give up?
That was what happened to Susan Gabriel in the '80s when her new husband of 6 weeks was suddenly accused of abusing her daughter. Susan went through a roller coaster of emotions but she decided to fight against an unfair system. This was the start of her journey to legislative reform which has undoubtedly transformed the lives of many who experience the same thing.
This conversation with Susan was enlightening and inspiring. Sometimes we find ourselves facing what seems to be insurmountable odds in business and we want to give up and throw in the towel. What I took away from my conversation with Susan is that sometimes God allows you to stand in front of the mountain not because you have what it takes to move it but rather he sees that you have enough faith to believe that he will move it, even when it feels like it is crushing you.
You can get a copy of Susan's book from Amazon simply by following this link:

Being an entrepreneur is not easy, I think I have said this countless times on the podcast. Your journey is often filled with long days and nights, self-belief sprinkled with a little self-doubt, juggling multiple things and plenty of ups and downs.
I am someone that finds inspiration through the journey and story of others and this week I get to sit with Morissa Schwartz, a lady who is taking no prisoners as she builds two successful businesses. She exudes determination and grit whilst being very humble and approachable. Like me, Morissa is an INFJ personality type so we relate on many things.
I believe this interview will inspire you and give you some food for thought on your own entrepreneurial journey.

Sometimes in life, we run at our careers at full speed without much thought to whether we will enjoy it and whether it aligns with our purpose in life. This generally leaves many of us feeling unfulfilled and trapped. We can at times find ourselves as passengers in our own lives watching our dreams pass us by. Some of us are brave enough to throw caution to the wind and change our course of travel but many of us stick it out, afraid to take a leap of faith. What does it mean to take a leap of faith? What is faith? Why do we need to have faith?
My personal experience is that faith is paramount to achieving your dreams. In an ideal world, you would be able to see everything and have the foresight to see that it will all end well but the reality is that this just isn't possible. You have to visualise the end that you want and work towards making it materialise.

We all have goals and dreams! We all want to achieve something. The endpoint may not have crystalised in our minds, in fact, it may be a hazy dream seemingly riddled with obstacles but irrespective of that, it is our dream. So how do we make this seemingly hazy dream a tangible reality? Something we can touch and share proudly? Well, we need to set some milestones or markers that help us identify that we have progressed in our journey toward our endpoint. That is what a goal is! A flag, a stake in the ground that you work towards to allows you to see a tangible shift in your progress towards your endpoint.
It is easy to just through a flag at a random location and deem that a worthy spot but does it really get you to where no need to be? Is it really en route to your destination or is it an unnecessary detour that takes you away from your purpose and your path?
Goal setting is an important part of the entrepreneurial journey because we tend to dream big. We formulate grand ideas and schemes and we can easily trivialise the sheer enormity of our dream, not realising the journey before us and the need for adequate flags along the way.
Having goals is also key to your well-being as you can set 'rest' points at certain key markers, whatever those markers may be for you.
I hope you enjoy this episode as I share my experiences transparently.

I have never been a person to shy away from honesty and transparency so I have made no secret of my struggles with my own mental wellbeing. I think that most entrepreneurs suffer this but I guess my personality type compounds this issue. I fall into a rare Myers-Briggs profile "INFJ" of which one of the characteristic traits is being a 'perfectionist'. This constant search for perfection in everything leads me to construct my 'ideals' in my head and try to make my reality align with those ideals. This characteristic is probably one of my greatest assets as a creative individual because it means I am never short of ideas and ways to make things better and I can always visualise a perfect state for these ideas but when reality doesn't line up, I start to stress out. This happens in every area of life so I consciously have to work towards levels of contentment in every area of life.
My career has always been an area where I have had an ideal and standard that I wanted to achieve and this ideal has been elusive for a while. Add to this challenges that have set me back, decisions that have cost me and a lack of support, outside of my wife, you can understand how the feelings that lead to emotional, mental and physical fatigue can quickly develop and cause burnout.
I am grateful that I have my faith, friends and access to professional advice, which have helped me to find my 'happy place' without giving up on my dreams and aspirations. I know my strengths and weaknesses and work within these to drive towards my goals.
Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey because the people around you cannot see what is in your head, sometimes cannot appreciate and understand your vision and definitely are not as invested in your dream as you are. This can lead to a sense of isolation and give way to many other negative feelings and it is important to know how to recognise these and how to manage them.
If you are struggling with your mental health and you need help, you can reach out to the following:

14 years ago, I took the leap of leaving my permanent role with a well-defined career path, prospects for management and beyond, a regular paycheck, benefits and bonuses. Looking from the outside in, it looked like a crazy decision to leave that world to step into the world of entrepreneurship.
The decision was not really that difficult for me as I had a major client lined up and I was heading into a 3-month project with the client so it didn't feel too dissimilar to what I was leaving behind. The reality hit me when I wasn't feeling well and I needed time off, or I needed time off to handle something or I needed a vacation, basically, any time I needed time off. There was a financial cost as I couldn't invoice for any client time.
The experience is far different for other people who are stepping into the realm of entrepreneurship and whilst I have been self-employed for a long time, I haven't really made the giant leap to the next level because I have created a safety net at the level that I am at. So what does it feel like to leap out of a plane without a parachute? Well, we can only find out from someone who has first-hand experience. So I am sitting down with Dr Terrence Johnson, co-founder of iProgress, and discussing his experience.

I have been in the fortunate position of having money and not having money. Whilst you may think that not having money is not a fortunate position, I would argue that not having money gives you a whole lot of perspective. It helps you filter out the people who really care about you and those who are just there for a good time. Not having money is a humbling experience and you find out how deep your resolve is and what you can truly endure. I would say that you find out who you really are when you don't have money.
My experiences have shaped my decision making and my value system and whilst I have deviated from my principles on occasion, my faith and the lessons from my experiences help me to quickly address the deviation and course correct.
Money is a great enabler and it is an intoxicating drug. The more you have the more doors you can open and sometimes these are doors that you just shouldn't open. If your value system is skewed, the likelihood is that your access to money will drag you into an endless loop of trying to fill the gaps in your life with possessions only to find that the gap is only plugged momentarily and you need another fix very quickly.
Even the institution of the church has been caught up in the idolatry of money worship and it has given birth to a gospel that teaches of God as a figurative ATM. "The love of money is the root of all evil", we have seen what people are willing to do or not do to fatten their pockets and it is sickening but whilst this love of money persists, it will never change. Governments, public figures, spiritual leaders, teachers and those in many other walks of life are infected by this virus and we are all faced with the simple choice at some point in life, happiness or money?
I set out to explore whether we can have both and in this episode, I summarise my views.

Data, in my opinion, is one of the sexiest things about business. Gathering information, joining datasets together to unlock insights about customers, products and services, identifying opportunities and flaws in your offering and many more applications. It just makes me so excited and it is something I can spend hours playing with. So, you will not be surprised that I am an advocate for data, no matter the size of your business and I think that anyone that fails to embrace data is absolutely crazy.
I don't expect everyone to be as passionate about data as I am because the world would become an extremely dull place. That's not to say that we data geeks are dull, on the contrary. I just think that the world would be boring if everyone liked the same thing. Anyway, I digress.
I have been a fan of data since my teenage years and I guess what I love about data is the hidden patterns. I love patterns. Geometric patterns, sequential patterns etc, I love them all. I love the consistency, the cyclicality and also the uniqueness of each pattern. I guess its, just the way I am wired. Patterns became even more exciting when I realised there was a business application and if you learnt how to exploit patterns you can find a cheat code for pretty much every business out there. For me, it meant a never-ending world of patterns to explore and a vast number of stories to tell.
I love to talk about data and I love to get people excited about data so it was inevitable that this episode would take place.

One of the key skills I developed was knowing how to learn from the successes and failures of others. As part of this, I learned that what the bible says in Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 verses 9 to 11 is really true. There is nothing new under the sun, everything has been done before. For that reason, if you are looking for information about something, if you search hard enough you will find it and it will help you speed up your process.
I am not one for reinventing the wheel and whilst preparing for this episode, that point was proven again.

In this episode of the Imperfectly Human podcast, Mr Daley discusses the importance of self-belief and having the ability to visualise your end state, especially when nobody else can.
Sometimes people will want you to believe that your dream has no merit and your vision is impaired but the reality is that people are limited by their experiences. Not every creator is an entrepreneur and not every entrepreneur is a creator. It is truly rare when you find someone that has the ability to do both and sometimes, people just don't see what that individual sees.
Mr Daley shares examples of 5 businesses that were rejected by the panel at Dragons Den and subsequently when on to become successful businesses.

In this episode of the Imperfectly Human podcast, Mr Daley talks about values and value systems.
Understanding your own personal values and setting minimum standards for your values allows you to assess the things and people in your life to determine if they fit with your values. The things we allow that do not meet our minimum requirements when it comes to values, take us off track and take up energy that we can use to achieve positive things.
Having a minimum standard does not mean cutting people off for any and every reason. One of the most important things in this life is reciprocity and it is important to look at how individuals reciprocate the things and energy you give to them.

Most entrepreneurs get bogged down in the detail of their business and make the error of becoming trapped, working in their business and not on their business. As a result, many entrepreneurs struggle to grow beyond their initial venture and become frustrated by their lack of progress. One of the most common reasons for this is a lack of scalability in their businesses. Many businesses are great single location businesses servicing a small segment of the market but once the owners try to expand, they experience some all too common problems:
Ultimately the outcome of this is a fall in customer satisfaction ratings which will ultimately translate to a decline in sales and reputational damage.
In this episode of the Imperfectly Human podcast, Mr Daley provides an overview of how to structure your business for future scalability. Sharing the definition of a 'scalable business' and the various levels of strategy, process and standard operating procedures.
Definition of a scalable business - 8:07
Level 0: Corporate Strategy - 10:37
Level 1: Core Strategies - 21:23
Level 2: Helicopter View Process - 27:44

Level 4: Standard Operating Procedures - 33:58
Top 5 reasons to document processes - 36:26

In this episode of the Imperfectly Human podcast, Mr Daley gives you his 5 top tips for achieving work-life balance. Now, it is important to stress that these are the 5 things that have worked for Mr Daley and this is not a statement of fact that if you do the same you will achieve a work-life balance. These 5 tips are points to consider that can help you on your journey to work-life balance. The critical success factor in all of this is you. If you do not consider what is required in your life to allow you to achieve balance then you won't. Your family dynamics, your work ethic, your principles, your dedication to family and friends, your stress levels, your predisposition to mental health issues and a whole host of other things play a part in determining what you need to do to achieve YOUR work-life balance.
Mr Daleys Tips:
They all sound simple, don't they? It's because they generally are. We are the ones that put pressure on ourselves, set unrealistic expectations for ourselves and push ourselves in ways that are damaging to our health.

Mr Daley returns with season 2 of the Imperfectly Human podcast!
Entrepreneurship is a lifelong journey and the ups and downs of entrepreneurship is something that is not openly spoken about. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs have had the hardest and most challenging journeys you can imagine yet this is hardly spoken of openly. People see the fruits of success but are oblivious to the number of withered trees the entrepreneur has left in their wake as they pursued their success.
Entrepreneurship is not a journey for the faint-hearted or those lacking in vision and self-belief. It is not a journey for someone who is looking for a regular, steady and consistent paycheck at regular intervals. Entrepreneurs are individuals with resolve who know that they have to create every opportunity and make sales to cover their expenditure. This requires a goal-driven mindset and rock-solid chin which is ready to take a few haymakers along the way.
In this episode, Mr Daley shares transparently about his entrepreneurial journey and his ups and downs. He discusses where he has fallen and the mistakes he has made along the way but also how he remains motivated, focused and driven to keep going.
Tune in and listen to the honest truth about failure as an entrepreneur and how to overcome what comes with 'failure'.

Welcome back to week three of the imperfectly human per podcast series on, uh, you see, I was you.
I did that.
Yeah. Welcome back to week three of our series on weathering the storm. Uh, this week, we're going to be talking about the application. So how did you weather the storm? What do you need to do to continue to survive that storm? Before we get into where we want to shout out our listeners on Apple podcasts, Google [00:01:00] podcasts, breaker cheering in Amazon music Audible Pandora.
Um, What's that one. Y'all you guys go over this? I don't feel well. I don't think we were on Sirius XM, Sirius XM fam or whatever.
Terrence: [00:01:25] Well, it is,
David: [00:01:30] but yeah, no shout out to everyone and shout out to them, to you guys on YouTube. We appreciate you watching and tuning in weekly. Um, we hope you enjoy this series. Um, and as we said, we're going to dive right into the application. So, uh, you know, what's her send me, let me, let me go first and I'm bringing it up.
So, um, the first one, so yeah. First part. So the application, so how do we weather the storm well first things first. So [00:02:00] how do, how do I change my perception of the storm?
Terrence: [00:02:06] Alright, so
David: [00:02:07] now I'm gonna let you go. Yeah, I'm gonna let you go.
Terrence: [00:02:10] Okay. So. When you break down perception, perception is all about sight. And so it's what you see, but also from past experiences, what you observe and then you anticipate.
So in order to change your position of the storm, you have to one have a background that's rooted, not in your own experience, but in God's word. And then your sight has to change, which you can see to then what God is trying to show you. And I think if you can change those to what you remember behind you, but like what's informing instead of you informing your sight, [00:03:00] you let God's word inform your sight.
And instead of you looking at what you can see tangibly say like, Lord, show me what this is. Supposed to teach me, show me, change in me or whatever, because I felt, I knew how to use my eyes, but I don't. So you then show me what this is supposed to do, not to me, but through me and for me.
David: [00:03:33] So that's kind of how that's good.
That's good. So I think, um, what kind of, what kind of hit me when you were saying that was, um, something some myself and my wife were watching, um, Uh, YouTube. Uh, um, and she was just talking about her therapy. She was cause she [00:04:00] talking about, she was being transparent about being in therapy because she suffered from, um, anxiety and panic attacks.
And, um, so when it would come, she would start to feel overwhelmed and then the adrenaline would start to go and she would start to feel. The fight or flight response kicking in. Um, and her therapist said to her, remind, you know, remind yourself that you are not in any physical danger and. By breathing and slowing down and taking a breath and in and breathing, you start to remind your body that actually there is no physical danger anywhere around me, calm down, stop the adrenaline, slow it all down and take control back.
And it's kinda this, it kinda made me think of [00:05:00] that. And, um, when we're in the midst of the storm, We need to stop panicking. It's kind of again, it's like they say when, um, Oh, um, I'm going to come back to this. I'm gonna come back to this man. I've got this from um I've got this from a show called in contempt.
I'm gonna come back to this, but yeah, it's that kind of stop panicking. Stop panicking and slow down and breathe and calm down and realize that the storm is not there to destroy you. The storm is there to change you. Now, when we start to realize that it's not, if we, once we start to, to, once we stop the panicking.
That perception shift can happen a lot [00:06:00] easier because panicking, we panic because we feel we're in danger. We panic because like we said, we don't want the devastation to be exposed, but sometimes it's a bit like, um, it's a bit like when you see, I used to watch extreme, extreme makeover home edition. And they go rebuild the house for people and you see the trail of destruction.
And then all of a sudden, two days later, three days later, you see this beautiful, remodeled house. That was way better than what was there before. But the pain had to come. The destruction had to come. Then the devastation had to happen. The storm had to pass through and tear down what was so ropey and weak so that something stronger and new could be built.
And that's [00:07:00] sometimes that's what we have to remember that this storm is not there to, you know, yes, the storm will leave a trail of destruction or devastation, but that devastation will clear away and make way for something strong and new. And, um, the thing that I was going to come back to was, um, They say when, um, people are drowning, they were talking to this lifeguard and they were like, Oh, so describe it.
And they say most lifeguards drown. Um, not when they're trying to save people because the people panicking. When the lifeguard gets there, they push the life guard down involuntarily. So this isn't on purpose, it's involuntary and they pushed the lifeguard down, trying to keep themselves from drowning and they have to try and get, they have to approach them from behind and help them [00:08:00] calm down so that they can shift that perception.
Of their danger so that they can see that they are no longer in danger, but. They're going to make it, they got help. And again, that's us. If we can stop flailing around and waving around arms around like a crazy person and see that in the eye of the storm, in the midst of it, once we get into the center of it, we are in the calmest part.
We are in the presence of God and we have help to survive and weather that storm. And that storm too will pass.
Terrence: [00:08:37] Yeah, man. So this, this, this, this kinda hit me while you were talking, talking about your wife and in anxiety and stuff. And I've thought about this. So its different phases of weathering the storm.
So you have the initial. Kind of [00:09:00] warning of the impending storm, then the storm comes, and then you're trying to find a safe place. But what you were just talking about is another phase of the storm is well, how do you survive after the storm has subsided? Because what you're now having is flashbacks about what the storm did when it was there, when it's not, when it's no longer there.
And just like I was saying too, it made me think about what I had said about, you know, um, can I replace, uh, your past experiences with God's word for me, the ties? And I said, it's still from previous storms that I've had. You know how you had points in time to your day where you tense up a little more like, Oh, I can't just relax because you've been so accustomed to storm after [00:10:00] storm after storm, after storm and its like your body's just like, I gotta be on alert.
I gotta, I don't know what's gonna happen. I gotta be ready and thats because we've been so conditioned of handling our storms on our own and that's where we have to use so much of our body and physical kind of reserve power through that and give us ship wrecked because then we've expended so much energy.
Now we have nothing left because we operate it from ourselves. But God was like, give it to me. You won't have to use this.
David: [00:10:41] Yeah, you can
Terrence: [00:10:41] rely on me. I'm try to get you. But because we've weathered so many stormss, we never come out of. Our day-to-day life isn't storm. It's an extension
David: [00:10:54] for real,
Terrence: [00:10:57] We keep [00:11:00] reliving storms because we've had so much experience from them. It's just like, man, my, my life is going to always be a storm. It just seemed like stuff to come and comes so even when it's nothing there. We will create them within ourselves or whatever, because we've been conditioned to it. And what you were saying too about the lifeguard that makes the most sense.
Is that God is trying to get to it, but we doing all this stuff, right? Like, man, will you calm down, I'm trying to get to you, chill out!
Get to you, but you go, you taking yourself off path that you've been around and I can get you back stable. I need you back stable so then I can move you to safety, but I can't save you when you, you, I don't have an entry point. Yeah, kind of what you were saying as the lifeguard come, they got to have an [00:12:00] entry point to secure .
If you doing too much movement, the lifeguard can secure you and then you'll drown because it wasn't the lifeguard fault. It was your fault that you wouln't, you wouldn't accept the help come.
David: [00:12:18] Yeah, no, that's good. That's good.
Terrence: [00:12:32] the second one. So how do I remind myself of God's authority over the storm and the authority that he has given to me.
David: [00:12:40] Okay. So I'm going to go to. The scripture that I spoke about now a couple of weeks ago, I said it was, I was like, Hey, it's in Luke eight, but it's actually Matthew eight. It's just funny that the same story is [00:13:00] in the eighth chapter of both, both, but yeah.
Matthew eight 23 to 27 and, um, Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the Lake with his disciples. Suddenly a fierce storm struck the Lake with waves, breaking into the boat, but Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him shouting, Lord, save us. We're going to drown. Jesus responded. Why?
Why are you afraid? You have so little faith. Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves. And suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed, who is this man they asked?, even the winds and waves obey him. And, um, that scripture just reminds me that. Listen, no matter what is going around, remember that even the storms, God created them.
When, when God wiped out [00:14:00] everyone on the earth with the exception of, um, Noah and his family, he called forth the waters. He called forth the rain. The torrential rain that didn't stop for 40 days and 40 nights, God controls it all and he has authority over it. But what was important was what Jesus said to them.
Why are you afraid? You have so little faith, meaning I have given you this authority. I have poured this anointing on you by you being. Grafted into my family by you becoming joint heirs with me, you have the same authority that I have that you can speak. And it goes back to what you said week one. I think it was that one where you said you speak to the [00:15:00] mountain and tell the mountain, go from here to there.
And it has to obey if you have faith like a mustard seed. Well, if we have faith, we can step in the middle of that storm and say stop. And that storm must, must stop. There must be calm because we have the authority we need to. So how do we remind ourselves by reading these sorts of scriptures? By reading the countless times that Jesus stepped in or by the reading the countless times that God stepped in and said to the storm be still because he didn't just do it here.
He did it in various ways in the old Testament when, when the people were going to, when Jonah was a stowaway on that ship and he brought the storms. And the people were like, Oh my gosh, what's going on? Who has sinned? [00:16:00] And Jonah said, okay, it's me throw me into the water. If you throw me into the water, the storm will stop. Threw him into the water and the storm stopped.
God has the authority over those waves. And then let me just be clear. He didn't leave Jonah to drown. You got a fish to swallow him up now y'all might be thinking, Oh no. Hey, this is, he was inside the fish . He made it to shore the fish spat him out. He was good. You didn't get chewed. He didn't get digested.
He was good, but God has, God has a knack for stepping into a storm. And stopping a storm and speak in calm over because he has authority over them why he created them. And just as he created you, he's giving you and breathed into you that same authority. [00:17:00] That's why he constantly reminds us. And that's why I love, I love the scriptures.
Why do you know. For me, people see them, people might see the as stories. I see them as reminders of you, of the power that God has given us. Power that we use so little of, power that we scratch the surface of, because our faith is so small, so we don't even, and I seen that, I know how small a mustard seed is.
And yet we can't even muster that level of faith to achieve the things that need that, that, that God says that we can achieve.
Terrence: [00:17:48] It's crazy. So, uh, I'm going to go here from what you said. So this is the visual. [00:18:00] So you got Jesus on the boat and the storm going on. Jesus asleep. and you got the disciples on there.
So the storm is raging yet it doesn't disturb Jesus. So they like, man, this storm getting bad its getting, worse, man. I think we need to do some Let's wake up Jesus so Jesus wake up. Like he, why are you waking me up? You see what I'm getting some rest why are you waking me up? They're like,
man, we just try to make sure we good. I man, I really, I, I really wish I would've gotten to the point while I was asleep, but I guess y'all didn't so now I got to calm the storm for y'all to understand that. The storm means [00:19:00] nothing as long as I'm on the boat with y'all
and y'all realize, as long as I'm on the boat, it doesn't matter what's going on. So then I looked at it, a different light is saying, well, when we're able to rest in God, that means that. We give protection to those around us too. So sometimes it's for us to be, and be the people that help calm storms around other people, but not in the way we used to because a lot of us have a issue.
Like I say, you know, I, as far as fixing things for people all the time, that's not what it mean. It means that if I'm resting in God and trusting in God, that would then witness to other people and allow them to weather the [00:20:00] storm better by showing, by seeing how I'm handling mine and people can see all are going around me and our centred in it, and it doesn't shake me and I can find peace and rest in God.
And they like, man. I know what's going on but. Oh, he don't, you know what I'm saying? Like it fazes him like that. And that's, that's how your life can witness the people louder than your words could, because some people have to see you come through those situations. And see how it was at, the beginning and then, see you come through that and see you be better because of, yeah.
And that's not what we want to hear. We don't want to hear that,
[00:21:00] but it's not an act, it's not like a facade way, like you were talking about before. It's an honest face of, yes, this is a difficult place, but I won't allow what's going on around me to disrupt my relationship with God.
David: [00:21:17] Yeah, no, that that's that's good. That's good. Um, well mate, I was just thinking it over and I was like, they went and woke Jesus up.
Like Jesus didn't know what was going on.
Terrence: [00:21:36] Right,
David: [00:21:38] right.
[00:22:00] Terrence: [00:22:08] Yeah, because like,
David: [00:22:16] you know, Jesus' woke up mad as hell.
Terrence: [00:22:27] all the time, all the time
that you raise me up, I already had control over it. Ain't gonna live then having to be out, but you still want to wake me up
David: [00:22:43] and that's us. We still sit here today. Yeah today. So, um, all right. Let's um, let's jump into the last one. Uh, what is the storm trying [00:23:00] to remove in me?
My listen, my wife gave me a doozy for this one. Okay.
Terrence: [00:23:10] So I'm going to say my part. Um, and I'm a little personal where I am now. Um, what my storm is trying to remove from me now is my own pride. But not pride in an arrogance way. It's a pride of not seeking out or accepting help from people. Yeah. This whole phase of life I've been in the last year.
I want to say has been me moving from the person that was always doing for other people. So now accepting help from people in all their different types of ways, in all different levels of my life. [00:24:00] And that has been difficult at first because I feel like I was lacking if I needed other people to kind of come in and help.
But in order to grow, you have to understand that. Although people can experience your situation. The way you do is people that see how you're handling your situation and want to assist. I said, like, I know you try, I see how you going through your situation and you doing it in the right way. I want to help you get to where God is leading.
So it's not a pity. Sort of help. It's more or less like, look, I know you committed to this, but I don't want you to burn out or overwork yourself before you get to the place that God wants you to be. So I want to help or [00:25:00] sow into you or bless you this way or whatever they did. And I had to become more comfortable with your saying, yes.
Or okay. And still like, you know what, I appreciate it, but you know, around me, I'm good right now. It's just, I had to learn to say yes to people in a way that I would never have done before. And it just because it's like, man, I ain't got no
for me,
I have to be more. And the other thing is the, the pain of past storms. I think this is what the phase of life that I am currently is trying to remove from me that. I know some things are similar to things in the past, but this is not going to turn out how things in the past did. And I need [00:26:00] you to be encouraged in this space because even though it doesn't look like it's changing that much, this is going to turn out different than it did in the past.
Because, because now I'm relying more on God and less on myself in the past, I was relying on myself. And making stuff happen and powering through and not giving up and not giving myself excuses or whatever like that. And I was literally tearing my body down. Like I'll get to the end of the year and pretty much the year with kitchen with me.
And I would get sick every year. Like around Christmas time, December time, anytime I had. I know that you're going to sit down for a, okay, let me give you this sickness. So you can only lay all the way out.
David: [00:26:52] That is me. That is me every Christmas. Um, I'm laid up for like, [00:27:00] I get two weeks off and then I'm like, I'm laid off for the first week.
Can't do anything pretty much whole week gone because, um, um, I'm sick. So I know that I know that and yeah, you, right. I think nothing humbles you more than a storm and especially a storm that, you know, you don't have the answers for. Right. And it's like, you're like, okay, go ahead. Well, you're going to have to sort this out and then when God starts to send those people in your life.
Okay. Yep. All right. I see. I see what you're doing going, right. Okay. You, you, you helping me grow that humility to, to accept, help you helping me grow that, um, break down that. [00:28:00] And it's like you said, it's not pride. It's not an arrogant pride. It's that you're so used to be in the one, helping others. It's hard to accept the help yourself.
We come back to, we come back to what we said. week one, we are afraid that the perception. Of people that people have of us, of the helper, the strong one, the provider, the support system, the, the shoulder to lean on. We're afraid that that perception is going to change. Yup. But the thing is our storm humanizes us.
Our storm helps people to relate to us more so that when we come out the storm. We're able to be there for them because they see the humanity in us because they've seen us in our storm. So [00:29:00] there's that. Um, but, um, yeah. So let me, let me get you this doozy that my wife gave me when she, when she said this, I had to sit down for a bit.
I was about to go there and lay down. Cause I was like, I was like, we ain't even recorded the episode. Have you not shut it down already? So she came in, as all said, I said, so, um, yeah, I said one, one of the. One of the questions we go around in the application is, um, you know, what's the storm trying to remove from me.
And she, she kinda sat there, you know, you know how they do. She said she was looking at me and she's like, well, she's like, well, I think the storm is trying to remove the same thing. It creates in us fear. And I was like, Oh, she didn't. I was like, she didn't just say that she did not just say that I was like,
[00:30:00] drop that bomb and then just kind of shimmy herself out of the room. Like yeah, I'm out deuces kind of fade to the back. And I was like, well, she, when she dropped her, I was like, that's it because. When we get into amidst into the midst of the storm. When I'm afraid, we're afraid of all those things, but God is trying to teach us that, Hey, you don't have to be afraid of this.
You do not have to fear this storm because I am God in this storm. This storm will not break you. That perception that you are holding onto. So dearly, actually this new perception that people will have with you is greater than that perception that you're so afraid to let go of the devastation that you're afraid of people seeing is going to make way for a new [00:31:00] creation and everything that we were just holding onto.
So tight, everything we feared God is like, I've got an answer for all of that. You don't need to be afraid. Let go of your fear. And I think I've said this before, and, um, in an episode, there is an acronym that someone taught me a very long time ago. Fear is false evidence appearing real. And then the midst of the storm that is amplified, all that false evidence around us appears so real.
And God is telling us. Don't don't fall for the okey doke I've got the real.
I know, man, she just, she [00:32:00] just came through stolen, stole the show and she can't even be on the show and she stole the show.
Terrence: [00:32:09] No, that's good. That's good. And I guess it's I guess, that if we could allow the storm to, to really take away, I fear, then we can move into what God has for us. So when he removes what we didn't need, he tried to give us space to then approach or see the things that are. Bigger than what we had and not bigger in far as materialistic thing, but I, a higher level of belief of what God can do through us.
If we allow ourselves to be used [00:33:00] and not focus on how we're going to complete some, but how can I strengthen my relationship with God and my faith? Strong enough to where he does greater work through me, so that I position myself for that.
David: [00:33:19] Yeah. No, that's good. You did. You just added to it and shut it down? Like that's the end of the episode we done?
No, for real. Um, that is, um, that is a perfect way to end it. If we can, if we can truly accept what God is trying to change in us in the storm. Then we open the door for what he truly wants to do in us. You know, if he, if you keep running around trying to avoid the storm, you're just going to keep running into [00:34:00] a storm, go through it, let the storm pass through, take the devastation that comes with it.
Take the change that comes with it and come out brand new.
Terrence: [00:34:15] Yeah. I ain't got nothing
David: [00:34:17] to say. Yo,

Um, you know, it's part of our walk. [00:35:00] Um, if I think the times that we should, we should fear the most are the times when there are no storms. Because in the midst of the storm, you know, that you were in the midst of God's presence when everything is just code, you know, cozy and rosy and peaceful.
Sometimes that may just be that we've just drifted so far we are out of storm range. Yeah.
Terrence: [00:35:35] Yeah, I hang up.
David: [00:35:44] So yeah, we just want to thank you for tuning in and hope you guys have been blessed. We will catch you on the next series. Um, Not sure what the title is. Oh, Oh. [00:00:56] Terrence: [00:00:56] All right. So we welcome you to part two or weathering the storm, I guess slash ship wrecked now
so if you watch them so far, last week, we kind of ended on something that David said about, you know, us being the conduit for God. And then he works through us to then, bless other people, instead of everything coming to us and this kind of hoarding all the blessings for ourselves. And then, um, I kinda mentioned about being shipwrecked.
You know, about God we're to ship wreck our life. Go. We have so many things around us. You have to sometimes strip it down to just him and just allow him to be all we need. And I think with so much in the world right now, For us to aspire to have whether it's houses or money clothes or influence or whatever.
It's always more things want to [00:01:56] add around this. And he got like, man, where the space for me, where am I in all these rooms out of these things that you got going on around you. And so sometimes he has to strip all the way to see you. Hey, you said you follow me. You know, you follow me if you don't have that? If I don't bring that back to you.
So, um, the, uh, so we'll go, we'll go into the questions. Uh, so the first question is why do we allow fear to overcome us in the midst of a storm?
David: [00:02:32] So, um,
If I take us back to what I said when I was describing what a storm means to me,
when we, are in the midst of a storm, we feel we are in the midst of [00:02:56] something bigger than us something more powerful than us. Something that we have no control over. It's like, If you were caught in a tornado, you you've got no way to stop the tornado. You've just, you feel like you just got to sit it out and let the tornado pass.
And sometimes that's where the fear kicks in because you've seen how a tornado can pass through and leave a trail of devastation. And sometimes, let me run with this. Let me run with this T
sometimes it's not even sometimes I think we don't even fear the tornado itself. We fear [00:03:56] the devastation that the tornado is going to leave behind. So. Sometimes we are scared that the storm is going to expose things that we didn't want people to know about. Sometimes we feel like the storm is going to shatter people's perception of us.
Sometimes we feel that we just don't have what it takes to survive the storm.
Sometimes we just fear that, you know, we are going to be overwhelmed. And it's, it's funny because everyone in life puts up a facade at some point. Right. And, you know, when you've got a [00:04:56] facade, a facade it is what it is, isn't it it's, it's not, there's no foundation to a facade. It's just a covering to hide.
What's really behind. And in the midst of a storm, the first thing that's going to be blown away and destroyed is that facade. So our fear is heightened when we know that. This storm is going to expose who I really am. And that's why a lot of us fear the storm.
Terrence: [00:05:31] Yeah. Nah, I had to write them four down. I was about to say, I had to write that down, but man, because there may someone say about that, want to be exposed.
And that's what makes us vulnerable because we won't allow other people around us to kind of [00:05:56] help. But the store will come and then expose really how we really felt about people around us too.
Man. People think I really liked it.
Perception too. I think that keeps a lot of us stuck is how other people would think about us. If we do something or we make a certain choice some of us will really, uh, accept the ship wreck that God is trying to, or whatever the storm is trying to produce in us but the perception,is what keeps us from doing it a lot.
Yeah. So its like Lord I do want to give a lot of this stuff. But man if I start, like, [00:06:56] if I sell my house, I move what are people going to say, they gonna think I'm crazy. Now. All that kind of stuff. and, that's how we, we second guess ourselves and override with God is showing us to do, because if you, if you really walking with God, you gonna look crazy that on a consistent basis.
Stuff that you do and how you move and operate is going to be so foreign to other people its like its just going to come with the territory. So if that's one thing that well you just going to have to embrace that, because they comes.
David: [00:07:30] Yeah.
Terrence: [00:07:37] This is where it was good. And he is like, do that.
So, so yeah, but I do want to kind of go through some of those, but my answer to the question, because I didn't want to, I didn't want to skip over what you said. Cause all that was, [00:07:56] all that was great. I had to come back to some of that, cause that was just good. Uh, I, for me, my angle is we don't know who controls the storm.
So we get caught up in what's going around because we don't, we don't see God in the storm. We see the storm as being separate from God. Right. But then, also just like what you said about being the conduit or conduit. However you say it.
God, God placed what we need inside of us, as long as we can, we stay connected to him. So that's the other part of the faith piece is that as long as we have faith in God, then we shouldn't be afraid of what God created. So God created all of this around the [00:08:56] storm. It got elements of him too. So why should I fear the storm when it's all part of him, but he not, he might go even like, like we said, even if I get ship wrecked,, it's not the storm that's going to kill me.
And that what people got to understand being ship wrecked doesn't mean that you, die, being ship wrecked is that you lost what you didn't need. Yeah. And, and cause even, even, even this morning, I'm not going to any of the scriptures that I had down.
So, uh, let me see. All right. So like this morning I read Matthew 17, 20. That he, and it's amplified whether he answered because of your little faith, your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God, [00:09:56] I assure you in most solemly say to you, if you have living faith, the size of a mustard seed, you will, uh, let's see.
Yeah. You will say to this mountain move from here to there. And if it is Gods will, it will move and nothing will. Uh, what did I do? Okay. Nothing will be impossible. So we all, we all heard about having the faith of the size of a mustard seed, but the piece that we, that I used didn't focus on, I didn't really catch you this morning.
Is this you speaking to whatever is the barrier and saying. You have the, you have the power to tell a mountain to move from here to there if you speak it. So he not saying we gotta have great faith, we gotta have faith plus our word. [00:10:56] So just like, when you talking about, when you say the mountain last week, I was like, Oh,it fit right now, but.
While you were talking at the beginning, the song I told the storm came to me and it's all about, you know, you tell the storm like storm you're not going win and storm. You're not going to defeat me, stall you. So the very thing that you feel like is coming at you guys, or you probably will say like, Nope, you can't come this way.
Like, Nope, not today. Like, Nope. And we all feel like we got that power to say like, Oh, Nope, I'm not going to accept, you know, poverty. I'm not going to accept stuff being taken away from me I'm not going to accept it. Not saying that because you speak it. And that means it. Cause what they say in the scripture, according to God's will.
David: [00:11:55] Yeah. [00:11:56] Yeah.
Terrence: [00:11:57] Is
David: [00:11:57] it is Gods will, its gonna come anyway. I'm glad you said that. I'm glad you said that because I think we've talked about this a number of times that if it is God's will, even if you speak to it, even if you do so many things to try and avoid it, all you are doing is putting it off the inevitable.
Because when it's God's will, and especially, this is the bit that, you know, I'm know I'm guilty of this myself. I am so guilty of this. I pray, God, your will be done. Your will be done. Your will be done. And then something comes along. Not today,
straight up and I'm not, not, but Jesus, you didn't, you. This, this ain't for me, this isn't what Jesus had. This isn't God's will for me. And then I will do [00:12:56] everything in my power to try and avoid that thing, you know, up until recently, I've had to learn to accept that, Hey, if this is God's will then so be it.
Yup. If I know that it's going to hurt, I know that my pride will be hurt. I know that I will feel some kind of way. Yup. I know people are gonna look at me sideways. Yup. I know. I'm going to feel a level of embarrassment and shame and whatever, but if it is God's will then so be it because I would rather be broke, tore down, whatever the situation is.
And, and in his will than living in excess and outside of his [00:13:56] will. Because I know that in the midst of his will, where did they, what did they say? The storm is always calmest in the eye of the storm. When I'm in the midst of his will, I'm in, I'm in the eye of the storm. Nothing can harm me in the midst of his will.
And that's, that's all that matters. And you kind of, you kind of lead in that nicely into the second question, but the second question was are all, are all storms, a sign of trouble? And I think that flows in. I think that flows in because I don't believe that all storms that are a sign of trouble. I've got my, I've got my view on this, so I'm gonna let you go.
Okay. And then we can come back to what I think.
Terrence: [00:14:49] Okay. So I would say, instead of saying storms [00:14:56] are always a sign of trouble, I will say storms are a sign or signal of needed change. Because a storm like I said, when a storm comes, you have to adjust for it. Yeah. And so just like, you know, when, when hurricanes come and it's, uh, it's a group of men and I think they from Louisiana, whatever.
And they call it like the Cajun Navy. So when hurricane stuff come, they come to the area and try rescue people and that's their way of giving back, but they can only be deployed when some happen. In the better times. Then they prepare for when the next wave of things are going to hit. So it's [00:15:56] really. storms give you, uh, a way to assess yourself.
And I think in normal day to day life, we don't look at ourselves objectively. We look at ourselves in context of other people. And then we look at ourselves. I said, externally, it's all about who we linked to and what this person did or didn't do. When, when you look at yourself objectively, it's like, What am I doing?
What am I thinking about? What are my actions? And do I believe that my actions are right for where God is leading me and where we are honest with ourselves pretty much a hundred percent of the time. We're nowhere near where we need to be. As it relates to God's will for our life. And then that also shows how you can be blind.
In the storm [00:16:56] because then you go from saying, well, Lord, what are you trying to show me in the storm? And you go to Lord, why you doing this to me? What did I do to deserve this? I go to church, I pay my taxes, I do this and that. And on top of that, I treat people. Right. I'll do, but you're not being objective.
If you there, then you missing the point? And God's like, okay, I'm a. I, I got to keep you in here a little while long, cause you're not understanding right now is the same thing for Job too. Job started to realize. What God was doing with the thing that will come his way. And that's why it started to shift. When he started to shift, he was like, Oh, I've been talking real, crazy God, my bad.
I'm sorry.
How to, how to run my
[00:17:56] and that's how we do when we lose a lot of stuff or we had to separate them things. Then we like, Lord, why did you take this away? Why did you do this? Why did you do that? And he's like, if you just go through this process, when I give it back to you, I got to make sure that I can trust you with it for the next level, because you weren't honouring it
when I, when you had it then, and I had to strip it away. Now wait till you show me that you can handle it this time and not forget me, because if I give it back to you, like you had, I'll give it to you better on another level. You just gonna leave me again. So why would I give it to you again? Right. Prove to me why I should give this back to you and ensure, that you gone, you going to carry it the way I'm expecting to.
And that's why we stay in the storm longer cause God like, okay, I ain't gonna go too far cause I got a [00:18:56] scripture for that. We'll stop there and let you go.
David: [00:19:00] So I think you, you said it perfectly that, um, storms, sometimes a storm is a sign of change, but um, let me see. Cause I'm sure this was the one that, um, My wife gave me a different perspective.
Um, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, Oh man, man. So, okay. Let me, uh,
Oh, wait what did I write there. Yo, my bad. Um, um, Oh, okay. I couldn't even read my own handwriting, so. She said the storm can be a sign for resetting us and refocusing us. We can become so stuck on our own strength and God allows the storm to bring us back [00:19:56] to him, which is kind of what you were saying. Um, that, you know, sometimes God will allow these things to happen because we create idols.
Yeah, we create idols. And rather than worshiping God, we worship these idols that we have created. And that could be anything that could be a spouse, that could be your children. That could be your job. That could be your car, your home, whatever. We can idolize anything. An idol is not a physical object that you just take and you bring and
you, you place some where and you pray to it. An idol is anything that distracts you from the living God, an idol is something that takes your worship away from God. And your worship [00:20:56] becomes, is then focused on that thing. So. Sometimes we do not realize when we idolize things. One of them, I know, I know we've talked about this before, but one of the things that I've seen a lot of people do is idolizing their pastors.
They go to church and it's, you would think they are there to worship the pastor and not God, because oh, Oh, but pastor said, this pastor said that and pastor was on on fire.. I'm like, but where is God in all of this?
Terrence: [00:21:31] Yup.
David: [00:21:33] You know, sometimes we get so caught up and that's why, I don't know.
Sometimes that's why, um, some, I believe God allows some of the scandals that we see in the church. That's why some of our pastors fall because they have [00:21:56] idolized, the fame and the power and the authority that God has given them and lost sight of him in the midst of all of it. And then the storm comes and blows it all away because those things.
And we've said this before. Don't get caught up with the, with the blessing, be caught up with the with the giver of the blessings. And that's sometimes that's just what the storm is there to do. Take your attention off the blessings to help you put your attention back on the person who gave you the blessings.
And sometimes he's got to take those blessings away.
Terrence: [00:22:45] Yeah, well, one thing I wanted to add another angle to what you said about the pastors or preachers. So sometimes them getting caught up in scandals, [00:22:56] they kind of want to, because they don't want that life anymore. It's almost like I want somebody to catch me because I just don't want to do this, butme stepping down might be harder for people to take.
So like if they find out about something, I was doing like, Oh, you caught me. Okay. I'm gonna step down.
So sometimes we get overwhelmed by what God called us to do it. I don't want to do this no more. T you
David: [00:23:26] need to write that down because that that's, that's, that's an, that's an episode right there that we need to, that's a new series right there.
so you said sometimes with the pastors, they want to get caught. God allows, they want to be caught in the scandal because they don't want to do what they're doing anymore. But [00:23:56] so, um, uh, we're, we're gonna, we're going to think of the right title for that, but we're coming back to that because that's a, that's a real, real valid point.
Terrence: [00:24:05] Yeah. Uh, they
David: [00:24:07] could survive the storm. That's the thing. They could survive the storm in the midst of the storm. They could realize they're wrong. They can confess their sin. They can repent of what they are doing and they can put that focus back on God. But like you said, some of them just want to be hardheaded and say, Hmm.
Um, um, now I'm a double down on this because I don't want to live this life no more. This life is too hard. This life is too demanding, but then the question I ask is, did you not weigh the cost before you.
[00:24:56] Terrence: [00:24:58] That's a
David: [00:25:06] we we're going to stop that. Let's let's let's move into the next question. That lets me,
Terrence: [00:25:15] what role does faith play in weathering this? Okay.
David: [00:25:19] So what I thought about with this one, and what the spirit led. Put on me with this one is, um, if you imagine, again, coming back to that idea of being in a blizzard or being in a tornado or whatever you, so if you, we all know if we're in an earthquake, we run, we're taught to stand in the doorframe because .
Terrence: [00:25:49] I don't know too much about earthquakes.
[00:25:56] David: [00:26:02] you stand in the doorframe because that is supposed to be a secure structure that will hold out and you should be safe or, um, and everyone will have different things. They've been. They've been taught. For instance, people have the bunkers that they run into in the midst of the tornado. And they hide in underground because they believe that they are going to be faith or they have faith that those things will help them weather.
The storm. Our faith has to be anchored on something. So the role of the role of faith is really to anchor us to a point to help us know that if we hold onto this, we can survive the storm. If we have faith. [00:26:56] And if we anchor ourselves unto the word of God, then we know we can survive and we can weather, whatever storm comes our way.
Terrence: [00:27:08] No, that's that's good. So I, while you were talking what I wrote down, and I think this is the other piece of what you just said. So you were saying that faith anchors us to something that can kind of sustain us. Some of the visuals that you were giving was safe places. So faith is our safe place with God. And the more faith we have.
The more secure we feel in that safe place. So even if things are going on around, we know it's a place that we can seek refuge, but if we don't have faith, they God is that safe place. Then we feel like when we're in the storm, we don't have any place that they [00:27:56] can sustain us or help us weather it. So if God is not that refuge in the storm.
Then, we try and make ourselves be that refuge or we try and seek out other people to be refuge for us, or we try to seek refuge in people. And that, that sometimes, like you were saying earlier, uh, last week, the storm within that fuels that we feel that somebody else can calm the storm within us.
And we will ship wreck ourselves because we were lash out at people because they didn't save us from ourselves. Yeah. And they weren't, we weren't intended to do that. I can inform you on things because of how I reacted to it, but I don't know what your storm is like, because you experienced it in a way that I don't.
[00:28:56] So. And I'm just speaking, this me speaking now, you know, go and tell your
David: [00:29:04] truth.
Terrence: [00:29:08] a lot of time, earlier in my life I was con I conditioned myself to feel that people around me had to understand me or understand my point of view of what I was experiencing. But as I've gotten older now, I realized that nobody would ever understand fully what I've endured or what I've gone through or what I am going through, because they can't see it from my eyes.
Even if I tell them about it, they're going to filter that or their perception of it is going to be from their experiences of similar thing. So I'm waiting for somebody like man, you know what. [00:29:56] Man, gee That's crazy, man. You man, that's a lot, man. This, you just imagine it like, Oh man, you know, I'm pray for you and that's messed up.
You know, I, I used to surf and be like, man, why can't nobody understand? Yeah, guy, like it's not for them to understand.. You keep trying to seek people to fill the role that I already am built for, for you, but you don't want to hear from me. You want to talk other people that won't even understand what you're going through.
David: [00:30:36] Yeah, no, that's good. That's good. And it, you kind of linking it, so one of the scriptures that, um, when I was preparing to, I went for, with Isaiah four verses five and six, and it says. Then the Lord will provide a shade for Mount [00:30:56] Zion and he, and all who assembled there, he will provide a canopy of clouds during the day and smoke and flaming fire at night covering the glorious land.
It will be a shelter from the day from daytime heat and a hiding place from the storms from storms and rain. So it just made me think, like you said, the job of our faith is to find that safe place. And that's what God does. He, if we anchor ourselves to God, he will provide us with that safe place, whether it's from.
a raging heat, whether it's from torrential, rains, crazy winds, blizzards, whatever it is, he is our safe place in the midst of the storm. He will provide the opposite to whatever the storm is to counteract, you know, counter it out and, [00:31:56] um, and just provide somewhere that we would just be secure. And the whole thing about, um, Us looking us looking for, um, I guess I want to say, looking for hope in other people where instead of looking to God where our hope comes from that is spot on because when we are in the midst of a personal storm within us, The first thing we want to do is look, look for someone.
So we do one of two things. We look for someone who we can lean on, um, yeah. And cry out to who we think should understand us and therefore be able to give us a solution out. Or we look to someone that we can lash out at and blame for the storm. [00:32:56] And sometimes we got that stuff all twisted because we will look to people where we should be looking to God and we will blame God when we should be blaming ourselves.
Because normally we, the ones that acting crazy and done something that's meant that we've opened the door for the storm. Yup. And then if we weren't acting, if we didn't act crazy, if we weren't doing something reckless, we wouldn't need the storm to come and clean house. We always need to remember that.
So the storm is there to change us. It's it's like that. Um, scripture says the, um, I can't remember exactly where it I think it's in Proverbs anyway. Um, but it's basically spare the rod, spoil the child. If God withheld [00:33:56] the witheld discipline from us, then we would not learn and change to be better, you know, to be more obedient, to be better, to be full of faith as we should be.
That's why the storm is allowed. That's why we need to have faith because in the midst of it, the storm, we can say, Oh God, I get it. I'm gonna put on my sack cloth. I'm gonna put the Ash on my head because I know I'm dead wrong and I'm gonna hold on to you and faith because now I know that you're trying to correct me and correct, and fix something that's in me.
And I'm a learn the lesson so that I can get out of this storm quickly. But yeah, that's that we kind of out of time but yeah, I know last week. Last week, you were talking about the songs that you came with that song. And I was like, when you, when you came with your song, [00:34:56] I was like, okay. Um, should I really tell Terrence my songs?
Because I was like, Um, I can see clearly now, Jimmy cliff, what was the other one? I was like, can you stand the rain? New Edition
oh man. I was, I was like, those are my songs.
Terrence: [00:35:47] Yeah.
David: [00:35:49] Oh man. I was thinking, can I even weave the lyrics into this episode? [00:35:56] You know, storms will come. Everybody has them but can you stand
Terrence: [00:36:03] the
David: [00:36:11] rain?
Yeah.
David: [00:36:15] Oh, yo. Um, the ah um, who was that guy that you sent me again? I forgotten his name. Um, and he's got his, he's kinda like, bishop? Um, no, it was, it was it Tim, Tim, um, Tim Rogers. He did that. I'm sure he did. And can you stand the rain rendition. We need to add that clip to this
Terrence: [00:36:50] the sound system went out he was singing no mic, no, [00:36:56] Tim, Rogers and the fellas, if you, if you don't know about them,
David: [00:37:04] he's sanging if we will put the link we will put the link in the description, right?
Terrence: [00:37:09] She gonna bless you too
David: [00:37:23] well. So that's it for week two of this series, join us next week when we will be talking about the application. So how do you weather the storm? How do you make it, you, how do you take what we've talked about in, um, this part and how do you apply it to your life? So we will catch you next week. On, uh, the next episode or the imperfectly human podcast peace.

Life is full of challenges, trials and tribulations. We’ve all heard the phrases like ‘sunshine after the rain’ which signify the change from a storm to brighter clear weather. In life we also go through this cycle. We have periods in our lives where we are under extreme pressure, stress or pain. During these times we may feel like we are under a dark cloud and the storm can feel like it is not going to pass. The rain may feel like it is extended and there is no hope but clearly there is otherwise we wouldn’t have such phrases! So how do we survive the storm? How do we weather this time of turbulence?
David and Terrence share their definitions of storms, their personal experiences of storms, what is required when facing a storm, what it means to be prepared and why we experience storms.
As always the conversation is honest and transparent with a view of providing inspiration for living Christianity outside the 4 walls of your church and not just on Sundays!

Our gifts are our God given abilities that are intrinsically linked to our purpose. We we operate in our gifts we appear to move in a way that nobody else can and we draw the attention, praise and awe of onlookers. Our gifts are as unique to us as our purpose is. Whilst there may be other people who appear to have a similar gift, when examined along with their purpose, it becomes clear that the gift is unique to them.
To operate fully in our gift we must be connected to God with an understanding of our purpose. Our gifts activate an operate to the fullest in the presence of God. It is important that we shift our perspective from one of looking for God in our gift to one of us looking for our gift in the presence of God.
David and Terrence share on how to use our gifts within our purpose instead of outside our purpose.
