I had so much fun chatting with Gregg Schigiel, the creator of PIX: One Weirdest Weekend (v1) and the forthcoming second volume, PIX: Too Super for School, which is available May 3, 2017, at your local comic shop or where finer books are sold. We talked about the publication of PIX through Image Comics, and Gregg answers many questions about PIX v1 (if you want to hear a more in-depth summary of PIX v1, listen to Episode 83). I wanted to take a break from discussing DC titles (though, that's mostly what I collect, so why fight it? :)) so this episode I discuss with Travis the Image Comics series Halcyon (warning: we will discuss plot points and reveals). Ok, normally, I would just post a list of stuff from the various publishers, but for this month's Previews, I did an audio version for the LBR podcast (58:03). I apologize in advance for the choppy/echo-y audio starting at about the 23 minute mark, though the bad spots come and go. I tried fixing the problem, but was not that successful, and I didn't want to rerecord more than half of the episode. :)
Anyhoo, here's a look at what interested me while looking at this month's Previews catalog for stuff shipping in December and beyond.

In anticipation of the new DC 52, Travis and I finish our discussion (1:34:55) about the end of the DCU as represented by Flashpoint #5, and transition into the DCnU with Justice League #1. Towards the end we discuss the price per page of our comics, and one of us gets pissed at Marvel (can you guess which one?). Also, we go totally fan boy with our discussion about Wonder Woman's new costume (pants or shorts?).

Since it took me a little over two months to release a new episode, I now give you more comic talk goodness. Episode 7 was released a few days ago, and now Travis and I continue our conversation about some final DC titles. Specifically, we talk about the end to Birds of Prey, Justice League of America, Secret Six, Zatanna, and Batman. Being the talkative twosome that we are, we end up not just talking about the final issues, but our impressions of the whole run, characters, and creators. We also ponder which is better: a late, but quality book, or a filler issue. Also, the evils of an incorrect solicitation.
And if that wasn't enough, we also talk about some newish Marvel titles that we've read, specifically, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Alpha Flight, and Punisher. So buckle up, hang tight, and enjoy this super-sized episode (2:25:45)!
Please send your comments to longboxreview@gmail.com. Please rate and review the show on iTunes.

After a bit of a break (apologies to my subscribers for that), we're back to talk about some (now old) news from Fan Expo and some of the final DC titles before the new 52 starts. Specifically this episode (1:00:20) we discuss Batman & Robin #26 and Batgirl #24. We spend so much time discussing Fan Expo news and those two titles that I decided to split up the conversation into multiple parts (which is why I say we'll take a break and then the episode ends), so look for part 2 very soon!
Remember that you can send me feedback about what you've listened to, suggest topics, and ask me or Travis questions about anything comic related. To do that, you can send email to longboxreview@gmail.com or, if you're on Twitter, message @longboxreview. It would be great to hear from you!
Thanks for listening!
For Episode 6 (1:26:55), Oddfellow and I talk about a great many things, despite the fact that we tried to talk about one thing in particular, but when you're having a great conversation sometimes you just go with the flow. :)
Some things we discuss:
Finally, I wanted to thank my daughter, Brittany, for creating the theme that opens the show.
Thanks for listening!
As soon as the news broke last week regarding the DC Comics relaunch, Mr. Oddfellow and I wanted to get together and talk about it. Much has happened since last Tuesday's announcement, but we do talk about our reactions to the news, what we think of the initial 11 titles announced, plus the additional Green Lantern titles that had been announced at the time of recording, and some other stuff along the way as well.
So, I give you Episode 5, my longest recording thus far (1:56:52). I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it.

Wow. So much for my assertion that I was gonna do more of these podcasts on a more regular basis (as you may recall from the last episode back in January). Well, no use crying over lost decibals . . . or something . . . . Regardless, I hope you enjoy this conversation I had with my dear friend and fellow comic connoisseur, Travis, aka Oddfellow on his comic review site (Update: watch Oddfellow's YouTube videos here). In this episode we talk about
As I say at the end of the episode (which clocks in at 55:02), I had tons of fun talking with Travis about comics. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It's my longest audiocast yet (at 42:51)! Listening back on the episode (man, I do hate to listen to myself, but whatchagonnado?) I realize all of the things I didn't say, like how much I thought the color artist (Barbara Ciardo) had just as much to do with the success of the book as the two main creators. Also, I need to better describe the visuals I'm talking about (and to be careful of my pronoun usage, among, uh, other things). But enough with the self deprecation, for it is time to humbly offer you Longbox Review podcast Episode 3: A review of Superman: Earth One.
Doing the audio review of Brave and the Bold #34 was so much fun, I decided to do another. This time, however, I not only review one comic, I review three! On deck is Batman #700, Superman #700, and Wonder Woman #600. Be amazed at how I call these issues "milestones" and "anniversaries" interchangeably! Be astonished at how I mispronounce George Pérez's last name multiple times even though I know better! Regardless of my vocal foibles, I hope you enjoy this episode.
This is something I've been wanting to try for a long time now, and I present it to you now with Episode 0 wherein I talk about the Brave & the Bold #34. Why that comic? Because it was the first one on the review stack. Plus, I thought it would be fun to talk about it. Warning: may contain spoilers and a not so radio friendly voice. :) The episode clocks in at 10:10.
I hope you enjoy this, and please let me know what you think of this little experiment! Thanks.
