WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features CHL President Dan MacKenzie as ticket packages for the 2023 Memorial Cup Presented by KiA are now available. Dan previews the event and fills us in on what to expect in Kamloops from May 25th to June 4th, 2023.

The Regina Pats are wrapping up their BC road swing this weekend. They have been playing in front of full buildings as fans look to catch a glimpse of Connor Bedard. Regina has played in front of sell-out crowds across the Division with one final game to go in Prince George.

Swift Current Broncos F Caleb Wyrostok has started his own Cancer fundraising initiative called "Bronco Bucks Cancer". The disease has affected many loved ones around him., He explains his motiviation and the strong response so far.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features WHL Linesman Troy Semenchuk after he was part of the 109th Grey Cup Officiating crew. The Prince Albert, SK resident was the Umpire for the game as he juggles both WHL and CFL officiating duties. We will talk to Troy about that experience.

Moose Jaw Warriors F Brayden Yager is an "A" rated prospect according to NHL Central Scouting heading into the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Yager and the Warriors are on their BC road swing for the first time since the 2018-19 season. Yager will be our guest.

Finally, Winnipeg ICE F Zach Benson is coming off a big week. The top prospect for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft is the WHL Player of the Week after putting up seven points in two games. He'll wrap up this week's show.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, has the latest news on a pair of trades this week. Hear from D Nolan Allan following a blockbuster deal that sees him go from Prince Albert to Seattle. The former Raiders captain is on the move to join a formidable Thunderbirds blueline. Also, Jakub Demek will take his WHL Championship experience to Kamloops. The Blazers acquired the 19 year-old Slovak from the Edmonton Oil Kings for four WHL Prospects Draft picks.

Calgary Hitmen F Riley Fiddler-Schultz is in the midst of a US road trip. His team is off to a great start and recently won eight straight games. Fiddler-Schultz is leading his team both on and off the ice. He talks about his season and his on-going charitable work off the ice for Veterans, the Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Club of Calgary.

Finally, Prince George Cougars F Riley Heidt is the WHL Player of the Week after recording nine points in three games. He'll wrap up the show.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition is joined this week by the recipient of the Bob Ridley Award for WHL Media Excellence Rob Vanstone. The longtime sportswriter at the Regina LeaderPost talks about covering the league since 1988 and his reaction when he heard he was this year's winner.

Dylan Guenther is staying with the NHL's Arizona Coyotes after four years with the Edmonton Oil Kings. We will take you inside the Coyotes dressing room for the announcement.

WHL graduate Riley Sawchuk (Tri-City, Edmonton) has been the WHL Canada West Graduate of the Month to begin the season. Riley talks about his start at Mount Royal University in Calgary and just how the WHL Scholarship Program has benefitted him.

Finally, Tri-City Americans D Lukas Dragicevic is the WHL Player of the Week after a solid road trip with the Americans on their East Division swing. Lukas shares his experiences from the trip and a big decision he had to make in his WHL draft year.

As well, longtime Regina Leaderpost sportswriter Rob Vanstone has been awarded the WHL's Bob Ridley Award for Media Excellence.

Finally, Brandon Wheat Kings G Carson Bjarnason is an "A" rated prospect according to NHL Central Scouting. He'll be our guest after a strong start to the season.

The past - former Edmonton Oil Kings F Jake Neighbours is now with the St. Louis Blues after helping his team to a WHL Championship last season. He was recently back in Edmonton and stopped by the Oil Kings for a visit. He'll be our guest.

The present - the Red Deer Rebels are off to their best start in franchise history. They are also flirting with the WHL's best win streak to start the season. General Manager & President Brent Sutter talks about the start and this year's edition of the Rebels.

The future - the WHL had 43 players listed in the NHL Central Scouting's Preliminary Players to Watch List. Seven players were assigned "A" ratings. We will have a breakdown.

Finally, WHL Player of the Week Mazden Leslie of the Vancouver Giants rounds out the show as he joins us in the midst of a Central Division road swing.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, chats with Seattle Thunderbirds and Calgary Flames prospect Lucas Ciona. He's the WHL Player of the Week as he and his Thunderbirds are on a redemption tour following two big wins over a pair of rivals last week. He'll join us off the top.

The Brandon Wheat Kings have been trailblazing through the BC Division for the first time in four years. They are the first team through BC from the East Division since before the pandemic. More with F Jake Chaisson who was back in his home province and Head Coach Don MacGillivary.

Finally, some very unique theme nights are coming to a WHL rink near you. Director of Marketing for the WHL Alyson Chambers updates us on a new partnership called RE/MAX Presents: Nickelodeon Night for Children’s Miracle Network. WHL This Week - Radio Edition focuses in on three players with different stories. First, Logan Stankoven has been returned to the Kamloops Blazers after spending nearly five weeks with the Dallas Stars. The reigning CHL Player of the Year will attempt to lead his hometown team to the Memorial Cup Presented by KiA which they will host in the spring.

Three year Kelowna Rockets F Pavel Novak has won a big battle off the ice. After a five month fight, he has been declared cancer free. The Minnesota Wild prospect updates his situation from back home in the Czech Republic.

Saskatoon Blades F Connor Roulette has been named the WHL Player of the Week. Traded to Saskatoon from Seattle to start the season, Roulette has tapped into his Indigenous roots for inspiration.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, previews the upcoming 2022 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects game set for Vancouver January 25th, 2023. Director and Vice-President of NHL Central Scouting Dan Maar joins us to talk about having all the top prospects on the same ice and when they plan on releasing their Players to Watch list later month.

Matt Bardsley is the new General Manager of the Spokane Chiefs. He will be in charge of a Chiefs rebuild after previous WHL stops in Portland and Kamloops. He'll be our guest.

Finally, after a terrific rookie season, Kelowna Rockets F Andrew Cristall has started his 17 year-old season with a WHL Player of the Week award. Five points in two games led his team. He will be our guest to wrap up the show.

Hear from the players and coaches following a 2-0 Edmonton win to send them to the 2022 Memorial Cup presented by KiA.

Edmonton Oil Kings General Manager Kirt Hill will join us to discuss the year and give us a preview of the Memorial Cup. Hill made several key acquisitions over the course of the season to turn the hockey club into a championship one. We will talk about the moves he made along the way.

Hear from every award winner including double winner Logan Stankoven of the Kamloops Blazers who captured the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy for the WHL Player of the Year and the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy for the WHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player.

The battle for the Ed Chynoweth Cup opens this weekend in Edmonton between the Oil Kings and the Seattle Thunderbirds. It will be the first Conference cross-over game in the WHL since March of 2020. Oil Kings F Justin Sourdif will preview the series.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features Canadian Hockey League President Dan MacKenzie following the announcement of the 2023 Memorial Cup presented by KiA being awarded to the Kamloops Blazers. A special ceremony was held ahead of game five of the Western Conference Championship in Kamloops. We will recap the night and hear from the CHL President.

The Edmonton Oil Kings are the first team through to the Ed Chynoweth Cup after winning the Eastern Conference Championship in five games. Also, some overtime magic in the Western Conference Championship between Seattle and Kamloops. We'll get you up-to-date.

It was WHL and CHL history last week when North Vancouver's Chloe Primerano was selected in the 13th round of the WHL Prospects Draft by the Vancouver Giants. She becomes the first woman skater selected in a CHL Draft. Chloe will join us to talk about the Draft and the whirlwind since.

WHL This Week - recaps the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. We will take a look at the top five selections and hear from each team on their choices. We will also be joined by 1st overall selection by the Medicine Hat Tigers, Gavin McKenna. The native of Whitehorse, Yukon will continue his journey in the WHL.

We will update you on the chase for the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Four teams remain, we will preview the Eastern and Western Conference Championship Series. Seattle meets Kamloops in the West. Edmonton and Winnipeg will battle in the East.

We will also be joined by Edmonton Oil Kings Head Coach Brad Lauer. The series starts in Winnipeg this weekend and Brad will look at their playoff run to the Eastern Conference Championship and the series ahead with the ICE.

The WHL hosts both it's US Prospects Draft and the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft next week for players born in 2007. WHL Manager of Hockey Operations Taylor Green will preview both events and give us some names to watch for draft day.

What a season for Red Deer Rebels F Arshdeep Bains. He won the WHL's Bobby Clarke as the league's leading scorer, signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Vancouver Canucks as an undrafted free-agent and now prepares to lead his team into the second round of the playoffs. Bains will talk about all that and more this week.

Finally, for the second time this season, Kamloops Blazers F Logan Stankoven has been named the McSweeney's WHL Player of the Month after putting up 26 points in just 10 games. He'll wrap up the show.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, updates the 2022 WHL Playoffs with the opening round continuing into a second weekend. We will take a look at the Saskatoon Blades who forced a game five in Moose Jaw.

Luke Toporowski is enjoying a strong start to the playoffs with the Kamloops Blazers. The former Spokane Chief sits tied in playoff goals and has his team on the verge of advancing to round two. We'll talk to him about going back to Spokane.

The Portland Winterhawks were the first team to advance to round two. After finishing up a series sweep in Prince George, we will hear from G Taylor Gauthier and F Gabe Klassen.

Finally, the Medicine Hat Tigers won the WHL Prospects Draft Lottery last week. They will select first overall next month in the WHL Prospects Draft. Tigers Director of Player Personnel Bobby Fox will join us to discuss the first overall pick, and a big draft for the Tigers.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition recaps a final regular season game for Regina Pats 16 year-old Connor Bedard in which he hit both the 50 goal and 100 point milestone. He made an appearance on TSN's That's Hockey following the conclusion of his regular season.

WHL Commisioner Ron Robison is our guest to kick off the 2022 WHL Playoffs. After a challenging regular season, the WHL is set to host playoff hockey for the first time since May of 2019.

The WHL hosted it's Draft Lottery for next month's WHL Prospects Draft. We'll recap the draft order and take a look at the award finalists for June 1st.

Regina Pats captain Logan Nijhoff has been named the winner of the Dana Brons Honourary Award for his work with Hockey Gives Blood. Program Co-founder Stu Middleton will tell us why Logan was a fitting winner of the annual award.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, has one final show before the 2022 WHL Playoffs. We take a closer look at the remaining playoff races in the Eastern and Western Conference. Four playoff spots remain up for grabs while only two of the eight first round playoff series are set. There is a new WHL all-time leader in goaltender wins. Saskatoon Blades G Nolan Maier has set the new mark with 121 career wins. We will take you back to the night he set the new mark and hear from the veteran WHL goaltender.

Finally, Kelowna Rockets F Colton Dach is beginning to heat up ahead of the 2022 WHL Playoffs. The 2nd round prospect of the Chicago Blackhawks will join us to wrap up the show.

Former Tri-City American (2015-2019) Nolan Yaremko has been named the USPORTS Most Outstanding Player for this past season. He's now at Mt. Royal University in Calgary and will be our guest to discuss life after the WHL.

Call them the WHL's Super 16's. A six-pack of 2005-born players are putting up numbers not seen in nearly 40 years in the WHL as a collective group. We will hear from Kelowna Rockets F Andrew Cristall.

Finally, Seattle Thunderbirds F Lukas Svejkovsky has been named the WHL's Player of the Week for his five goals, and three assists in a trio of Thunderbirds wins. He'll close out our show.

Moose Jaw Warriors 16 year-old Brayden Yager has set a new franchise record. The old mark stood for nearly 40 years. He's scored the most goals for a 16 year-old in franchise history. He'll talk about his season so far.

Red Deer Rebels F Ben King is on pace to score 50 goals this season. After seven points in two games, he's been named the WHL Player of the Week. He'll close out our show.

Finally, Logan Stankoven put up 24 points in the month of January including 13 in the final week to be named both the WHL Player of the Week and WHL McSweeney's Player of the Month. We'll talk to the Dallas Stars prospect about what's motivating him.

The Portland Winterhawks recently had a snowy trip to BC to play the only game on the WHL schedule this past weekend. Portland GM/Head Coach Mike Johnston takes us through a snowy trip, Covid-19 and the upcoming WHL Trade Deadline on Monday.

Several WHL players were representing their countries including 12 on Team Canada. Goaltender Dylan Garand talks about the disappointment but also why he's holding out hope.

The WHL Trade Deadline is just over two weeks away, but already some major moves. We'll get the reaction from Prince George Cougars HC/GM Mark Lamb on a trade that sent 20 year-old G Taylor Gauthier to the Portland Winterhawks.

We will hear from the newest member of the Blazers and GM Matt Bardsley. As well, Kelowna Rockets broadcaster Regan Bartel is in his 25th year in the WHL. He was honoured this summer by the BC Hockey Hall of Fame with the Bernie Pascall Media Award. He will take us back to that special night.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, kicks off 2019-2020 Opening Week with WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. He'll preview all the major events ahead this season. Meanwhile the WHL has adopted new rules this season to follow suit with changes at the NHL level. WHL Vice President of Hockey Richard Doerksen will tell us what's new, and what could be on the way.

Finally, the WHL broadcasters have weighed in on some season predictions. We will take a look at what they think the 2019-20 season will look like.

Moose Jaw Warriors F Brayden Tracey's spectacular rookie season landed him the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top rookie. We'll get his thoughts on his first year as he prepares for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Finally, referee Brett Iverson won the the Allen Paradice Memorial Trophy as the WHL's top official for a third straight year. He'll join us to close out the show.

Byram scored a 6th overtime winner last weekend in Tri-City to stand alone as most overtime winners in a single season. The WHL has announced record breaking numbers for the 2018-19 academic year with the WHL Scholarship Program. It's also now surpassed $25 million dollars in funding going back to the 1993-94 academic year. He was also just named to the U-SPORTS all-star team that will provide the opposition for Canada's World Junior hopefuls in Victoria. He'll round out the show.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, has the latest on a WHL blockbuster trade between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Regina Pats. Four players and seven bantam draft picks changing hands as the Hurricanes made their intentions known they are "all-in" this season while the Pats look towards the future. The former four-year Everett Silvertip (2012-2016) led the Huskies to a perfect month of October. The Saskatoon native will discuss his start to the season, and playing U SPORTS hockey in his hometown while taking advantage of the WHL Scholarship Program.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, features another player set to suit up for Team WHL in next week's 2018 CIBC Canada Russia series. A strong start for Edmonton Oil Kings F Trey Fix-Wolansky has earned the 19 year-old playmaker an invite. He'll be our guest.

The WHL has awarded a record 386 WHL graduate players with WHL Scholarships for the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year. It's the highest total in WHL history as the program continues to grow. WHL Commissioner Ron Robison joins us to break down those numbers.

BroncosStrong night is coming to Swift Current and Humboldt this weekend. The event will see both teams join forces to take time to pause and reflect on tragedies that have impacted them so deeply. Hear from both coaches Dean Brockman and Nathan Oystrick ahead of the special night.

Red Deer Rebels over-age forward Brandon Hagel has signed an NHL Free-Agent deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. Hear his story after being passed over in the WHL Bantam Draft.

He'll be our guest. Also, Kamloops Blazers G Dylan Ferguson stops by after picking up the Eli Wilson Goaltending WHL Goaltender of the week award after leading his team to a pair of weekend wins over Kelowna while posting a .970 save %. The Vegas Golden Knights signed prospect is looking for a big final season in the WHL.

Also, Spokane Chiefs Head Coach Danny Lambert visits to talk about what should be a strong season in Spokane. Pundits are picking the Chiefs as US Division favorites although they remain without a couple of top players as they hit the second week of the new WHL season.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, kicks off a brand new season with WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. There's plenty of big events across the WHL this season. We'll discuss some of those events and look at some of the changes as well.

WHL Vice Preisent of Hockey Richard Doerksen is back for his 41st year with the league. There's been some changes to WHL trade regulations, discipline and a new 68 game schedule. Richard will join us to close out the show.

Broncos captain Glenn Gawdin was named the WHL's playoff MVP. The five year Bronco lifted the Ed Chynoweth Cup first on home ice. We will talk to him about the championship run and the Broncos chances at the Mastercard Memorial Cup.

Regina host committee chairman Shaun Semple wraps up the show. The organizing committee has put a lot of work into making the 100th edition of the tournament a special one. He'll walk us through
some of the major events planned throughout the 10 day event.
