This began as an experiment in using Soundcloud to podcast, but I've had former parents ask if I had a regular preaching gig somewhere or if my chapel messages were ever online. Well, now they are!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and sound like Christmas, and even smell like Christmas, but doesn't it sometimes seem like the whole season completely lacks the substance of Christmas? How can we avoid going with the flow or just jumping out of the river all together?
Have you ever read the Bible and wondered why certain things are there? Like, why does Matthew begin with genealogy of Jesus, and what's the deal with all these people? Does this have anything at all to say to us?
In the wake of the 2016 Presidential elections, it's all too easy to go along with the divisive cultural narrative. Instead, let us be examples of gracious disagreement.
We may not like those whom God has put over us, but at least we can say they're not Nero! Instead of complaining about our leaders, we should do our job and pray for our leaders.
What happens when we, through poor choices, get in the way of our potential? God can take that which disqualifies you and make it qualify you for ministry!
Have you ever felt like you've lost your way, that you've gone so far off track that you're a lost cause? Jesus may be a bad businessman, but He's a Good Shepherd, and He's developed a very particular set of skills, skills He has acquired over a very long career...
You can't hit the gym every day; you've gotta give your body time to recover. Your spirit is just like that, which is why God gave us the Sabbath.
