The goal is simple; generate $1,000 per month, every month of “passive” income through my own business efforts.
$1,000 per month is not a ton of money but it could be enough to create margin in your finances each month. With a goal to create this “passively” that still leaves time to go out each month and create a larger sum actively through business efforts.

In continuing with assigning a theme to my overall year 2026 is The Year of Reset.
This theme came to me at the end of 2025 when I realized I would be rebuilding my life and my business from [what felt like] nothing. Every aspect of my world needed a refresh, a facelift, an upgrade, a reset.
The idea of approaching every decision as a reset from your old way of existing is something that resonated with me deeply when I sat down to think of how I wanted 2026 to look. I knew I would be rebuilding various parts of my world but when I took a step back and said "What if I rebuild everything? What if I just start over with all of it?" that is when the real idea took root and began to grow.
This year isn't a pivot. 2026 is The Year of Reset.

The year 2025 brought so much change into my life.
When I look back over the year as a whole I remember a lot of hurt and disappointment, but also a lot of growth and healing and learning. For me it really was the year of new opportunities.
I went into the year of 2025 with the mindset of being open to new opportunities, of looking for and accepting them as they came into my world. I would repeatedly ask myself “Am I using fear of failure as an excuse to never take action?? What does this mean? What does this make possible?”
I learned a lot about myself, about what I wanted, who I wanted to be, and how I want JohnnyBoy to show up in the future. I am taking that with me into this year of 2026.
2025 was indeed a year of new opportunities, let's take a look back.

In 2023 I began putting themes to my overall upcoming year. A guiding idea of how I would operate throughout that year and what filter I would use when making decisions and taking aligned actions.
2024 was The Year of Events and 2025 was The Year of New Opportunities. Both years saw massive growth in my mindset, my business moves, and my connections because I would constantly ask myself "What does this make possible, and does it line up with my theme for this year?"
2026 has a theme as well and I will dive into that in an upcoming episode but for today I want to dive into assigning a theme for your overall year, and how that helped me in 2025 The Year of New Opportunities.

Moving into the new year I am committed to being intentional with my marketing efforts when it comes to my products and services. This means I need to look at what I have been doing (not much in recent years), what I haven't been doing (being consistent), what I need to continue, and what I need to stop.
I sat down and did an audit of my marketing over the past 2 years and came to the conclusion of what I need to focus on moving forward into 2026. I formulated a plan of action to follow, and in doing so I found 3 main marketing tips I want to share with you for your own marketing efforts.

The weekend following Mr Olympia I went to Los Angeles California to take part in Los Angeles Fashion Week produced by Art Hearts Fashion.
This would be my 5th time volunteering backstage with Art Hearts Fashion and it was one of the best shows I have been part of, including 2 I attended as part of the audience.
Walking in backstage was like a mini family reunion; seeing all of the staff, photographers, models, and other volunteers I had seen or met with at previous shows. This was a chance to reconnect the sort of family that only forms at events.
3 days of helping designers left and right, I was moving chairs, I was carrying cases of water, I was herding models, organizing clothing and accessories ....I was in my element.

Coming out of 2024 The Year of Events I had to decide what I wanted the theme of 2025 to be.
After much thought, prayer, and introspective it became clear something big would be on the horizon for my life. Putting that into action, and backing it up with belief the entire way, I decided the theme for 2025 would be The Year of New Opportunities.
I knew I would be looking for new opportunities everywhere I went, that I would be open to moving far beyond my comfort zone, that I would be leveling up in multiple areas of my life. I knew I be experiencing new opportunities throughout the entire year, and boy was I right.
Before Las Vegas was even on my radar. Before the day job offer came through. Before my dogs health issues started I had a deep since 2025 would bring many changes to my life, and I thought I was ready it.

2024 was the first year I themed for my life; I called it The Year Of Events.
After years of FOMO I decided I would take action, and committed to attend the events in 2024. Despite whatever would come up, I would not let myself talk myself out of attending something I knew I wanted to be at.
I put together a plan,started using Notion to track the events, and got out from behind a keyboard to go connect in person.
One of the best moves I have made in recent years.

It's Mr Olympia week!!
The air itself here in Las Vegas is electric, and social media is buzzing with people arriving ahead of the weekend.

Karma and Simba were huge parts of my life over the past 2 years, and since losing them in March and April I have felt their absents deeply.

In early 2023 I received advice around shutting down JohnnyBoy Studios, placing everything under construction, and relaunching bigger and better than before.
Well I did the first part, I shut everything down or let it die out in 2023.
Since then I have not pursued relaunching because it was "never the right time" and I always had "one more thing" to do or more important than bringing back any particular brand.

Over the years I have launched many different creative projects on many different platforms, and often I would create an email address and landing page for each.
SoCal Live Music Review, 75 Hard Daily, & JohnnyBoy Studios to name a few.
This led to me having many email inboxes, landing pages, hosting, URLs, etc. and trying to manage it all.
In 2023 I shut down most of these pages in the process of focusing solely on JohnnyBoy Photos and the rebrand.
With showing up so many different places and platforms on the internet I decided I wanted one central place people could come to while I rebuild. One place they could come from any podcast, any YouTube video, any mailing list, any landing page and still be able to contact me.
Also that one central place would show the other platforms they be unaware of!
This all led to me creating a static contact page I would be able to redirect to no matter what platform or hosting I had live at any given moment.
In this episode I walk through in detail the process of creating the static contact page, the platform I chose to build it on, and how I am utilizing it today.

I once heard someone say “Who you are will set you free” and I fully believe that.
It has taken me a while to come to terms with this, but when you stop running from what sets you apart and instead embrace it, so much good can come into your life. Your unique advantage is what sets you apart.
Chances are good your unique advantage has followed you throughout your life. We are the sum of our experiences, who we are now is because of what we experienced yesterday.

The Mr Olympia 2024 competition and expo took place in Las Vegas, Nevada October 10th through 13th. This is the premier fitness event of the year full of my ideal client both on the stage and at the expo, this is a room I wanted to be in.
I decided early on to go, then life happened and I almost did not go, but then at the last moment I remembered the commitment I made towards the end of 2023 to attend the events in 2024.
I also remembered 2 phrases I heard this summer;

- Are you using fear of failing as an excuse to not take action? - Gary V
All of this led to my renewed sense I needed to go to Mr Olympia 2024, so I did. I made the trip to Las Vegas, went to the show, and came away a different person.

It was in the audio recording The Strangest Secret from Earl Nightingale I first heard the following phrase;
“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.” - George Bernard Shaw
This idea, this phrase has stuck with me for many, many years as I have pursued my own goals. The concept that we have the power right now to change our world in order to see our dreams realized is something I had to develop along the way. When I heard Earl Nightingale quote this in The Strangest Secret for the first time it seemed all of the puzzle pieces fell into place and I truly believed I had this power within me.

Time blocking your day is definitely nothing new, in entrepreneurship or in your personal life. This is, however, a new approach to time blocking that involves being double-intentional with that time frame.
Setting aside time on your calendar for what it is you want to do, and then working backwards to fill in those time blocks has become a game-changer in how I schedule clients and customers.

Kicking off the year with a super creative weekend! In October of 2023 I made the decision to "attend the events" in 2024 which led to purchasing a 2-day ticket for the LA Fit Expo.
Fast forward to the week of the expo and I have 3 separate events scheduled for the weekend, all of which are in the areas I want to be in and with people doing the things I want to do.
This was a prime example of making a decision, walking in it, and seeing the universe bring your decision to you in droves. I had multiple moments of self-doubt and second guessing if I belonged, but by powering through them and walking in my decision to "attend the events" I found more than I could have believed before.

Over the years I have come across many, many different tools for personal development, goal planning, tracking, and systems to accomplishment. Some of those have been game-changers in helping me grow and move closer to my goals.
While listening to the 48 Days To The Work And Life You Lovepodcast with Dan Miller I was reminded of the Self-Analysis Questionnaire for Personal Inventory outlined in the book Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. When Dan began talking about this it reminded me of the various tools and resources I have used and I began to think about what it would look like for me to pull those tools together into one place. So I did.
My version of the Personal Year-End Analysis uses thought exercises like the notecard found in The Strangest Secret, or the 50 Things I Want exercise, and combines them with the practical applications of the EOS V/TO and chapter on Desire in Think And Grow Rich.
I also included personal finance, personal fitness, journaling, and so much more as a way to take a wholistic approach to looking at where you are today and setting up for the year to come. This is another example of taking charge of your life and aiming it in the direction you want to go.
There is no magic, secret sauce to doing this at the end of the year that just happens to be when I put this together. In truth it is something I have been working on for a number of months and something I believe you can begin at any time, any month, any day of your life. Any single exercise listed in this has the power to radically change your world, and by combining multiple game changers you can wake up tomorrow on a completely new trajectory for your life.

The end of the year is fast approaching and with it the start of a new year. Now is the time to build your plan for what you want that year to look like. With a definite plan, a clear course of action, and intention you can accomplish more than you would ever dream.
Do not let the new year snack up and then you think of new year resolutions that will drop off in a few months, instead look at the entire year and what you want to have accomplished by December 31st, 2024 (of 12 months from whenever you are listening to this episode) and build a plan backwards from there.

We've reached the halfway point in the year. Now is the perfect time to look at the goals you set at the beginning of the year and evaluate where you are in pursuit of them.
Sometimes a course correction is needed while on your journey, Q3 is a great time to look at your current state and possibly make new goals or change goals previously set which do not currently align with who you are now and where you are going.

Recently I decided to revisit the Strangest Secret audio recording and take the action steps outlined a step further. I decided to write out something I would read every single day.
It’s somewhere between an affirmations list, a law of attraction statement, and the notecard exercise from the Strangest Secret or Think and Grow Rich.
On this paper I stated who I would like to work with, what I want to accomplish, gave a timeframe, and walked in that mindset taking consistent action. I revisited the Strangest Secret, wrote a new version of my notecard, and followed the steps outlined and I can already see it already paying off.
For the month of July I am going to listen to the Strangest Secret audio recording daily, as well as read my statement first thing in the morning and last thing at night before going to bed.
I would encourage you to do your own version, read daily, listen to the Strangest Secret audio recording daily, and see where it can take you. What do you have to lose?

In this episode I share a journal entry titled They Can't Duplicate Me where I dive into my network and how I have built myself to where I am now. This was an entry due to someone being less than honest in their business practices and my spidey-senses tingling a bit.
I realized even if they attempted to copy my process they do not have the same resources or network I have, and that is my unique advantage.
Over the years I have worked intentionally to build and nourish a network I can plug in to when needed. One that will lift me up on my journey and I can lean on for support when I stumble for a moment or do not know how to proceed.
My network is my unique advantage and your network can be your unique advantage for you.

I've recently changed my approach from trying to acquire as much money as possible in my business to a new principle around income.
In it’s most basic form this principle says to decide how much money you MUST create in your business each month, then create products and service that will lead to that number, and do reverse math on the number of clients or customers you need to service.
Then go out and do the sales and marketing needed to reach that number.

Throughout my life I have been able to accomplish many things and bring lasting change in various areas by following a simple path, even at times when I did not realize this was the path I followed to those goals.
This path will take you from longing for change, dreaming about something different, wanting to change a situation to instituting lasting change in your life.
The path is simple;
- Get Clear
- Get Qualified
- Get Connected
- Get Going
Decide what it is you want and make a plan to get it. Identify what it takes to get there, and then find people who are already doing the thing, or the spaces where the thing is happening. Write the vision, make it plain.
You already have control, if you decide that is what you want.

With so many different inputs coming at us daily the opportunities to become distracted and focus on things which do not move the needle forward are endless.
There is a tremendous value in immersing yourself in what it is you want. In the content around that topic, in the people who operate in that space, and in the mindset it takes to be the person who lives that life.
The process outlined in The Strangest Secret audio by Earl Nightingale follows this same idea;
- Set yourself a definite goal.
- Quit running yourself down.
- Stop thinking of all the reasons why you cannot be successful and instead think of all the reasons why you can.
- Trace your attitudes back through your childhood and try to discover where you first got the idea you couldn’t not be a success if that is the way you’ve been thinking.
- Change the image you have of yourself by writing out a description of the person you would like to be.
- Act the part of the successful person you have decided to become.
This process is one for mentally immersing yourself in what you want. In fact, so is the notecard 30 day test;
*Write down on your card specifically what it is that you want. Make sure it’s a single goal and clearly defined. You needn’t show it to anyone but carry it with you so that you can look at it several times a day.
Think about it in a cheerful, relaxed, positive way each morning when you get up, and immediately you have something to work for – something to get out of bed for, something to live for. Look at every chance you get during the day and just before going to bed at night.
As you look at it, remember that you must become what you think about, and since you’re thinking about your goal, you realize that soon it will be yours.
In fact, it’s really yours the moment you write it down and begin to think about it. Look at the abundance all around you as you go about your daily business. You have as much right to this abundance as any living creature. It is yours for the asking.*
Decide what it is you want and make a plan to get it. Write the vision, make it plain.
Listen once a day for 30 days, make a notecard outlining exactly what it is you want to accomplish over the 30 days, take action towards that single, definite, goal, and immerse yourself in what it is you want in this world.

I wonder what life would be like if….
These words changed my life and let me image what I could do differently. These words allowed me to dream bigger.
I keep a post-it note on my desk next to my computer that reads “You are operating no-where near your potential” as a reminder to myself I can always do more.
Dan Miller of the 48 Days to the Work You Love podcast ran a challenge in August of 2022. Listen to the Strangest Secret audio by Earl Nightingale every day for 30 days, make a notecard outlining exactly what it is you want to accomplish over the 30 days, and take action towards that single, definite, goal.
While I did not do this in August with the other 48 Days listeners I did give myself this challenge, and when I did I gleaned so much from it after only a few listens and I started listening to it 2 and sometimes 3 times a day. I also began telling everyone about it and encouraging them to listen and take the challenge themselves.
The Strangest Secret was a game changer for me. The Strangest Secret helped me to dream bigger in my life.
The biggest part is towards the end where these steps are outlined;
- Set yourself a definite goal.
- Quit running yourself down.
- Stop thinking of all the reasons why you cannot be successful and instead think of all the reasons why you can.
- Trace your attitudes back through your childhood and try to discover where you first got the idea you couldn’t not be a success if that is the way you’ve been thinking.
- Change the image you have of yourself by writing out a description of the person you would like to be.
- Act the part of the successful person you have decided to become.
Shonda Rimes says “If you are in the room it is because you belong there. Act like it.”
I made the notecard outlined in The Strangest Secret (and also in Think And Grow Rich) and saw so many things came to fruition as a result. Now, moving into the new year, I am dreaming bigger than ever before.

This past September I met with my mastermind for what has turned into a yearly event; our Think Out Loud Retreat.

Every year between Halloween weekend and Nov 14th I make a list of my plans for the upcoming year.
I take a weekend to look at the previous year and think about where I am right now and ask myself 3 questions;
- Who do I want to be?
- What do I want to do?
- Where do I want to go?
I have my list outlined and ready to go for the upcoming year. I have my rudder, my Google Maps, I have my direction.
Now is the time for you to be intentional about where you are headed with your life and your business in the upcoming year.

Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps 4, 5, & 6 - Investing, College, & the Mortgage all happen at the same time in Dave's plan so I wanted to cover them all at once in the same episode.
- Baby Step 4; Invest 15% of your income for retirement.
- Baby Step 5; Save/Invest for kids college.
- Baby Step 6; Pay off your home mortgage.
These steps are where most people disagree with Dave and his process whereas I love what they have outlined.

Dave Ramsey's Baby Step 3 - Save A 3-6 Month Emergency Fund is the one I resonate with the most (so yeah, continuing a series on DR).
Dave Ramey’s whole platform is to build wealth because building wealth allows you to have control of you time and money, which will let you live the life you want to live rather than the life you are handed.
Once your debt is gone the next step in the plan is to create a financial buffer between you and life because guess what; life is going to happen.
Some say save up 3 months of living expenses, some say save up 6 months of living expenses, some say save up 1 year of living expenses, I say just save something.
An emergency fund turns an emergency from an emergency into an inconvenience.

In recent months I have had numerous conversation with people telling me why Dave Ramsey is wrong and how his system (The Baby Steps) is only for people who do not know how manage their money, or those who are deeply in debt. I couldn't disagree more.
Dave Ramey’s whole platform is to build wealth because building wealth allows you to have control of you time and money, which will let you live the life you want to live rather than the life you are handed.
In this episode I want to dive into the very first Baby Step; Save $1,000 as a Starter Emergency Fund and why I believe this applies to anyone on any income level, any debt level, or any financial education level.
Life happens and life happens fast. $1,000 is not enough but it is better than zero. You may not agree with Dave Ramsey’s program overall but I think we can all agree $1,000 set aside for emergencies only is better than having nothing in your account when those emergencies hit.
Personally, or entrepreneurially, $1,000 will not change your life but it may keep your life from changing. Tune in, let's discuss.

AirBnB Experiences are a fun way to meet new people for your business you may not have otherwise been connected with.
In this episode I break down my plans to begin using AirBnB Experiences in photography and the necessary steps I have to take in order to move me towards that goal.

Recently I keep hearing this word over and over in my life in various places and various forms, and once I decided to pay attention things began to become more clear in my own head and life.
That word is Focus.
When you get clear about what you want your priorities will begin to form and fall into place. At that point you can either listen to the messages they are giving you about what to focus on, or you can try to do 50 things at once and get nowhere.
Take the next 90 days and become hyper focused on the one thing you really want to accomplish. Go all in and commit to one goal and only do things that will move you one steps closer to that goal. Focus, and just watch what you can develop in your life.
I am getting back into focus with what made me want to pursue side-hustling, entrepreneurship, and full time self employment. I am focusing on the main goal I have for the next 90 days.
A light shining into a room can illuminate every corner, but a light focused into a single beam can cut steel.
F.O.C.U.S; Follow One Course Until Success, or Follow One Course Until Successful.

This year (2022) I've put my photography endeavors on the back burner in order to pursue other goals. I have big goals in photography but I have not been pursuing them at all the majority of these last months. JohnnyBoy Photos could use some love.
It is time to get back to the passion I love and in this episode I want to share my approach to getting creative about building my photography business. My passion is still there and I see the opportunities to grow a thriving photography business if I would only put in the work.

This is one central location for my highest recommended items in regards to each niche. That has helped with authority with my audience, SEO for the web crawlers, network building with other brands, and income for the business.

I launched a brand new podcast; 75 Hard Daily!
This is a show where I am documenting my journey through the 75 Hard Challenge by Andy Frisella, and sharing new episodes daily while still in the challenge.
In this episode you will hear the first episode of the 75 Hard Daily podcast and I break down what the challenge is, why I am chosing to go through the challenge, and why I chose to create a podcast about it.

Similar to how many services can naturally flow into a physical product, some can end in digital products as well.
Even if you are not starting out with a service that ends as a digital product you can set out to create a product specifically for digital use!
The opportunity to scale an eBook, a video course, a plug in or a template far outweigh the demands associated with a physical product. If you are creative or highly technical creating a digital product may be the next course of action you should be considering in your life or in your business.

Podcasting is a great marketing tool for your business or brand, a way to connect with others and build an audience around a specific topic or niche, and a wonderful way to express yourself.
I cannot begin to express the doors that are opened in your life as a result of podcasting. Be it professionally, personally, or internally the benefits far outweigh the costs and I strongly recommend you consider starting your own podcast.

I first started podcasting in March of 2018 with the SoCal Live Music Review podcast as a way to share my love of live music and connect with others. In January 2021 I launched the JohnnyBoy Studios podcast in order to talk more about business practices and how I am developing JohnnyBoy Studios from various side hustles, to a steady entrepreneurial endeavor, to one day becoming a full business that supports my entire lifestyle and helps tons of people along the way.

November is the National Novel Writers Month, and every year thousands of people gather together (virtually) to complete a 50,000 word first draft of their novel. This event is called NaNoWriMo.
For years I have thought of joining in the global phenomenon and write my own first draft of either a fantasy novel or a personal development book, but the timing has never seemed correct. 2021 has been a year of creation for me with this podcast, YouTube, coaching, and I finally feel ready to get back into writing again.
This year I officially joined NaNoWriMo! You can see my progress on Twitter and soon I will have a YouTube video recapping the journey. This was fun challenge and in this episode of the podcast I will be sharing my experience with you.

Have you ever felt stuck in your current situation? No clear path to the next steps to take you closer to your goal?
I have. Many times. When I was ready to really begin redefining my life I did two things; I joined a mastermind, and I got a coach. As a result anything I have accomplished over the last year and a half has been a direct result of the influences of these people in my life.
You cannot read the label when you are in the bottle, so getting a view from someone outside of the bottle can be key in making forward progress. Having coach has been a game changer for me both professionally and personally.
While I love podcasting it is mostly a one-way communication in a 1-to-many format. Podcasting is me talking into a microphone and you listening on the other end. I want to have a more direct affect on change, on helping you to get clarity and move in the direction of the life you truly want to live.
You are not limited. You are not stuck. You are worth of pursuing your dreams and your passions and I want to help you.

Honing in on my ideal client, expanding my list of services, marketing, mindset, and so much more has been a reflection of the weekly meetings I have had with the other members of my mastermind group.

One of my biggest struggles in growing a brand is recognizing the accomplishments I have made while in a difficult or not so desirable situation. Coming out of a toxic environment I often gloss over some of the better parts, the better experiences that I had there.
It's easy to ignore the past or to try to hide it and shy away from those experiences but the truth is they contributed to my becoming the person I am today. They helped my knowledge to grow. They added to my skill sets. They are a part of my story.

This is an episode I have been looking forward to ever since I sat down to with actor, model, entrepreneur Eric Guilmette to record it back in Feb. I came across Eric on Instagram and we connected soon after. I'm so glad we did.

Creative Calling by Chase Jarvis is a book that completely reframed how I view my own creativity. It is not just something I use to take a good picture or publish a podcast episode, it is a vital force I can tap into in order to craft not just the work but life I truly want to live.
Since receiving this book for Christmas in 2019 I have read it twice and am constantly thumbing through it to find a specific passage. I fully plan to read it at minimum once a year, and it will be one of the books I gift out. Yes, it's that good.
