This is the first part of a two part convo with Pastor Scott McIntyre. We discussed how pragmatic sales methods used to "close the deal" in a post-war suburban society were adopted by the church at the expense of a biblical view of the Gospel.

In this episode I talk some more with Michael Goforth. He, much like myself, has struggled hard with the truth that God is pleased with us ONLY because He is pleased with Jesus.

We're still in that struggle. Only through believing that Jesus is enough before God, for us, will true freedom be found.

Interview with church planter/pastor & my friend, Francisco Puente. Fran shares how that even though he was preaching the Gospel, he himself struggled with resting in the finished work of Christ, as his only hope of peace with God.

You’re not nearly as good as you think you are,
& God is infinitely better than you think He is.
This means Jesus is more necessary than you’ll ever know.

Just because you feel a certain way does not make your feelings objectively truthful.Just because you have feelings that I do not understand, does not mean that those feelings do not exist.

Jesus is our perfect example and source of strength for speaking the truth gently.

Moving houses is all finished and we’ve adopted and maybe orphaned a bunny. Idk.

This episode is talking about growth in our awareness of God’s holiness and our sinfulness. In addition, we look at ways that we downplay our sin. There's a massive chasm between God and us which begs for a massive Savior to bridge the gap.

"Many Christians live with a truncated view of the gospel. We see the gospel as the “door,” the way in, the entrance point into God’s kingdom. But the gospel is so much more! It is not just the door, but the path we are to walk every day of the Christian life. It is not just the means of our salvation, but the means of our transformation. It is not simply deliverance from sin’s penalty, but release from sin’s power. The gospel is what makes us right with God (justification) and it is also what frees us to delight in God (sanctification). The gospel changes everything!" - The Gospel Centered Life
