Shipwrecked: Recent Episodes

Andy Sutton

Everything broke. After moving overseas for the gospel, it all fell apart. No amount of strategy, wisdom, or effort could get them out of it. They couldn’t fix it themselves. Every plan and expectation, hope and dream flew out the window. They were shipwrecked.

Andy Sutton has experienced his own “shipwreck moments”, grappling with the death of his father as a child, and later attempting, and utterly failing, to move overseas after college as a missionary. God carried him, often kicking and screaming, through those moments to the other side. Now, he wants to hear other people’s stories of being stretched to the max--of being broken and remade. In particular, he wants to hear from missionaries, who are “supposed” to have their lives put together and figured out, but in reality, are broken people who wrestle through hardships just like the rest of us.

In this podcast, Andy will be inviting these missionaries to dive deeply into their hardest moments in life and ministry. They’ll explore the moments when, if God didn’t show up, they would be goners. If you’re looking for raw conversations about the grittiest moments in the lives of those in ministry around the world, you’ve come to the right place.

Thanks for listening to The Shipwrecked Podcast!

In this episode, we’ll hear the story of Rob, who with his wife took a few years from the time they knew they were supposed to become missionaries to the time they actually applied. But God had another detour in store for them…

Our vision: The Shipwrecked podcast was made to connect missionaries worldwide with followers of Jesus by diving deep into the hardest moments in missionaries’ lives and ministries, in order to spur on listeners to faithfully persevere through trials, find hope for healing from their own shipwreck moments, live out their role as World Christians, and provide a unique tool for missionaries in their support-raising efforts.

Thanks to Larissa Barnat for making the Shipwrecked cover art! Explore more of her work at larissabarnatdesign.com.

Thanks to Ayanda Khumalo for the use of his recording of “O Church Arise”! Find his latest album, Dancing with Angels, on Apple Music, Spotify, or wherever you listen to music.
