Since we are on our last show of the year, we decided to do a roundup of the year. We have divided it into 3 types of news. First the news that were positive and made headlines, then news about upcoming heroes of India and then controversies that hit the world of Sports.
The India v Australia match at Perth was far from what the Indians imagined when they landed in the capital of Western Australia. After a historic win in Adelaide, the Indian team was buoyant and the fans expected India to go 2-0 up in the series. In fact that would have sealed the series in their favour. But instead India was thrashed by 146 runs. It’s time to ask some real tough questions.
Last week Gambhir made the headlines by announcing his retirement. This week he continues to make headlines with his interviews that he gave shortly after his retirement. In a startling revelation. In another astonishing disclosure, Gambhir said that in 2012 before the ODI series in Australia, Dhoni spoke to Sehwag, Sachin and himself and told them that it was not possible to play all 3 of them in the same match as the team was preparing for the next World Cup in Australia. What Dhoni meant was that the big Australian grounds would expose their slowness on the field and the opponents would benefit by getting the extra run when the ball was played to them.
