What Went Well is a well-researched and established strategy for wellbeing, created by Martin Seligman. Because this is quite a detailed episode (though still under 10 mins) I've also transcribed it into a website article. See the Wellbeing section of my website.

Continuing the series (and thanks for the great feedback!) with three "ways to wellbeing" in one episode: Take a bath, Stroke an animal and Cook or bake (with a suggested recipe!)

See, nothing difficult and a nice mixture of practical and psychological, with everything tried and tested - including by me! I had at least three baths, stroked some horses in a field I walk past every day and made two batches of marmalade and some hot (very hot) chilli jam.

This is the 4th tip in the series and it's a one with MASSES of science behind it. But what if you find it difficult or horrible? I have some answers.

(The music intro and outro are from Clementi's Sonatina 1 in C Major, played by Aaron Dunn, and used with a CC licence - thanks, Aaron!)

Yes, I know, I really should have done this as the first episode! But I wanted to started with a couple of more practical ideas and then do this one, which is more about what's in your head. I show you that although you might think you don't have much control over your life, you CAN have a lot of control over your wellbeing because the four important pillars are relatively easy to tackle: food, sleep, exercise and relaxation. My books, website, teaching materials and talks give lots of science and practical advice and my podcast episodes offer you one manageable idea at a time. Perfect for schools. Join me! (I apologise that I'm not a professional sound recordist and I don't have expensive equipment. Maybe one day!)

It's my mantra and something I wish I'd known when I was younger: "Relaxation is not a luxury." It's as important as food, sleep and exercise. This episode tells you why, gives you some practical "rules" for what counts as relaxation, and offers ideas for how to build this into a busy day and life. Perfect for schools.

After the introduction in the previous episode, this is the first of the 52 Ways to Wellbeing: SET SMART GOALS. It includes detailed advice about goal-setting, including what "SMART" means and how to put into into practice.

At just under ten minutes, this is perfect for listening to in school with a class or whole-school assembly, or for anyone to listen to one the way to school or work.

It includes an extract from Positively teenage, reproduced by kind permission of Hachette Children's Books.

This is a free audio to teach you how to relax your breathing and reduce stress levels. Really useful at times when you're feeling anxious or stressed and to reduce feelings of panic. Everyone should know how to do this! Practise BEFORE you need it - then you'll be able to do it without the audio.
