This past year has been rocky for many people. In the face of uncertain times and an uncertain future where do we turn to for our confidence?
Have you ever felt alone? Loneliness is one of the painful but universal of human experiences. But Christ came to be "God with Us". The Immanuel, the Christ, was a savior who came to be "with us" through thick and thin.
When we come to understand God's grace we come to see that it has power to change us from the inside out. The grace of God empowers us to change; to turn from sin; to follow after God.
In the season of Advent we remember the coming of Jesus, the Messiah. He came to bring God's love, joy, peace, and hope.
God has something different to say about our lives than we do. And while we have our own point of view on what we're going through, God has another point of view. And he wants us to lay down our limited perspectives, and be humble enough to adopt his perspective.
The cure for humanity is found at the cross of Christ. It's time to return to Jesus being the "center" of all of our lives.
No matter what times we live in or what circumstances that we face Jesus is always our source of hope.
In the face of an uncertain future and in uncertain times the call of Jesus remains to "seek His kingdom first". The antidote to worry about tomorrow is to seek God's kingdom today. Matthew 6:25-34

Often change, setbacks, and dissappointments can leave us feeling at the end of ourselves. We might even wonder if God is done with us or over us. In the letter to the Philippians the apostle Paul encourages a group of Christians that the God who began a good work in them was going to see that work through to completion. Jesus is the light in the darkness. He brings light into our darkness and order to our chaos. We find hope and life in His light.
Why do so many of us struggle with our image? Could it be that we've been believing lies about ourselves and about who God is? We were made to know Him and walk with him closely. When we believe lies that say otherwise we struggle with our image and identity. Until we identify where shame is negatively shaping our lives we can never be free from a distorted self image.
