What is the Writer's Life Chats? It is the fabulous, yet entertaining online radio show brought to you by Literary Professional Kisha Green. The goal of The Writer's Life Chats is to allow experienced authors and writers a chance to share their writing life with avid readers; be a mentor while offering sincere support to aspiring authors. While this isn't your traditional educational setting, we are in the new millennium. What better way to educate than via the Internet? Regardless of your writing experience, these chats strive to help educate interested readers and writers on the business of writing and publishing. This show is NOT just limited to authors, this is for ANYONE who writes or has written before. Writer's Life Chats is not your typical show. each episode creates a relaxing atmosphere for the guests as well as the listeners. Each week you can look forward to Kisha's Literary Jewels, as well as the platform to also discuss current literary events including the gray areas in-between.
Aleka Melson was born and raised in the Washington DC, Maryland area. She is currently a member of The Life Center Church in Camp Springs, MD under the direction of pastor Jay Cameron. She works for CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield as a quality assurance auditor. She is a mentor with the I Love Me girls mentoring program and currently teaches/coaches the Friendly High School flag team which is her alma mater. Aleka is a proud mother of a daughter who just graduated from high school and as she prepares her for the next chapter of her life in college, she is now preparing herself to take on the role of being a new author.

Urban fiction, also known as street lit or street fiction is a literary genre set in a city landscape; however, the genre is as much defined by the socio-economic realities and culture of its characters as the urban setting. The tone for urban fiction is usually dark, focusing on the underside of city living.
According to Publishers Weekly Street lit, urban lit, or hip-hop lit—whatever you may call it—the popular and controversial genre generally focused on crime, sex, and violence set in African-American neighborhoods. It is also a multi million dollar industry.

After being arrested for drug trafficking and distribution in
2005, Peter Mack penned his first novel, HoodSweet

confinement. He has gone on to author and publish 15

tapestry of his upbringing and exploring the dynamics of the
relationships between men and women. Isiko counts Walter Mosley as one of his early influences for his

Lisa Nichols. Despite his incarceration, Isiko has maintained a strong and tender bond with his son,
Jelani, speaking with him weekly.

I love the written word more than cooked food and that's saying a lot. I write because I have to(It's the only way to silence the voices). There is always a story going on in my head so if you see me in public I'll probably be scribbling furiously in a notebook.
Strawberry Mansion, my first novel, is semi autobiographical(I am Tabitha in the story). It was a very painful part of my life that I felt an overwhelming need to give voice to. I've changed a few things to protect the guilty, and add a bit of distance from myself to the story. I love that book. It's a sort of snapshot of my journey into adulthood. Although the characters are young, It's filled with adult content, bad language, sex drugs and rock and roll, you're gonna love it.
Begonia Brown, my sophomore novel, is street fiction at it's finest. I am very proud of this book. It is the hood as I recognize it, minus the glitz and glam... I pushed the envelope with this book. I felt free to tell ugly truths because the book isn't about me, It's about where I come from. Begonia Brown, although it was hard to write, is one helluva ride!

Author C.J. Hudson was born in Birmingham, Alabama and has lived most of his life in the inner city of Cleveland, Ohio. He attended and graduated from Cleveland Public Schools and attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio for one year. C.J. has worked at Mid-West Forge Company in Cleveland, Ohio for eighteen years as a Machine Operator, is a Certified Electrician, and writes books in his spare time.

The company also facilitates workshops and seminars, spring and summer break writing camps/programs, and provides one on one tutorial sessions to help middle school children strengthen their writing skills in preparation for scholastic, writing based tests.
Kenni and her company are dedicated to active community involvement. Annually, Kenni hosts a youth book drive to promote summer reading among school aged children. Over time, this initiative has worked to provide several county recreation centers, daycares, children's hospitals, and children shelters with reading and educational materials for their youth. Additionally, Kenni organizes and hosts an annual benefit event during National Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April entitled Let Your Voice Be Heard. As a sexual assault survivor, Kenni feels it is important to get the word out about this growing epidemic in order to encourage men and women to raise their voices against this common and life-impacting crime.

Author DeVaughn M. Lilly is a thirty year old Cleveland native and graduate of Warrensville Heights High School. DeVaughn is a very ambitious exciting young writer and publisher. His goal is to spread the importance of literacy in our communities and what better way to do this than to write inspiring and thrilling new literature. DeVaughn’s debut novel, “The Magnificent Life of Gravvy Brown” was released in ‘2012’ under his own newly established publishing company (Young Revolutionary Publishing Inc.). After embarking on his first national book signing tour in the summer of ‘2012 DeVaughn released his second full length novel, “Memoirs of the Homosexual President (Told by the First Lady)” in the summer of ‘2013’. Then in the fall of ‘2013 DeVaughn went out on his second national tour. DeVaughn who calls himself, ‘The Voice of a Generation’ has developed his own (5 Easy Steps to Creative Writing) which is billed as ‘The Return of the Writer’. DeVaughn is currently working on his third full length novel and planning another tour for ‘2014. He and business partner and manager Phillip Dickson opened up their first restaurant together in January of 2014, it is named (R & D’s World Famous Corned Beef) which is located at 534 East 200 street in Euclid, Ohio 44119. DeVaughn Lilly has carved out his own brand of historical fiction, suspense drama, and what he likes to call true life fiction through his love and passion for storytelling. His ultimate dream and goal in this industry is to make reading ‘cool’ again by bringing reading back to the forefront of entertainment. Angel Mechelle was raised a "military brat". She attended Neu-Ulm High School in Germany and graduated from Southeast High school in Bradenton Florida . She now resides in Virginia with her two children. Armed with an active imagination and a notion for DRAMA, Angel was finally able to share her love for story telling with the world when she accepted as a contributing author in the Shannon Holmes Anthology "Hood2Hood. Mr. Holmes was impressed with her talent and offered to publish her debut novel. The opportunity has opened many doors in the literary industry for Angel. Born Anthony Augustus Whyte and grew up in the Bronx, Anthony Whyte attended UMD. He graduated from Lehman College and was a former military personnel. Whyte worked at ACS child welfare investigator/caseworker. He was always writing. First he did poetry as a child then magazines as a teenage to adulthood. Next came short stories. While taking writing classes at NYUSCE, Whyte met Susan Shapiro and became a full time member of the Tuesday Night Workshop. He wrote Ghetto Falsehoods in 1996. Hip Hop Literature was alive, and Anthony Whyte became Hip Hop Lit, penning several tomes (thirteen) under his own label Augustus Publishing. Formed in 2005 with business partner, Jason Claiborne, the independent publishing house has flourished in a sea of literature where others have drowned. Whyte places this success squarely on the shoulders of being original. The company boasts several titles and includes imprints, Vibe Books and Uptown Books. Both offer nonfiction titles. Essence best selling and NAACP Literary Award Nominee, Karen E. Quinones Miller started her literary career in 1999 when she self-published her novel, Satin Doll, and sold 3,000 copies in six weeks, and ultimately 28,000 copies in less than six months. Although Miller, who was formerly a staff writer at the Philadelphia Inquirer, had approached dozens of literary agents and publishing companies about Satin Doll, it was only after her novel’s phenomenal sales success that major publishing houses stood up and paid attention.
