We are BACK, apologies for the hiatus. After a few months of silence, we have an inspiring new episode with a spectacular energetic guest, Swedish indie comic creator Jennie Gyllblad. We dive into Jennie's experiences of becoming an indie comic creator in the UK after finishing her illustration degree in Bristol. We discuss our first tries at networking in a creative industry and how maybe the environment can be broadened. We discuss Jennie's new kickstarter, 'Man & Angels' - A Sci-Fi Fairytale Comic, and how she has brought some of her existing audience and finding new ones through Twitch art streams. As well as a look at the beginnings of the 'Association of Comic Creators' (AoCC) which is dedicated to fostering a comics culture that supports and uplifts creators. All this and much more on this epic episode!

Hey folks! Did you miss us? This month Gemma joins Zara and Bry to ask them about their exciting new comics currently in the works!
Zara introduces her first longer-form comic for her original characters Rei and Roy (you might recognise them from their debut in Roy & Rei get Ice-cream in our anthology and also a mini zine Roy & Rei and the Rage Demon!), this time you can expect plenty of fairground shenanigans with Roy & Rei at the Fair!
Bry tells us more about her origin fantasy story featuring a young girl Yfa who is growing into her magic summoning horns, but with one problem; no magic! Look out for her working title, The Silent Horns!
You can expect both of these comics to debut at the Thoughtbubble Comic Art Festival in Harrogate this 9-10th November! Look out for Wine and Zine's table there and we'll happily talk to you about our new wares!
Also coming soon is an educational and fun zine project from Claire with a refreshing look at animals that society mislabels as 'vermin', check back soon for more!

How do we stay up to date on our skills? Is unpaid overtime bad for seniors as well as millennials? Can we negotiate a fair salary based on experience? And how do we keep going when so many (women in particular) start to leave the industry due to burnout?

Get ready to go on a real intense journey with us this week as Claire and Bry sit down with the indie comic legend Sarah Millman to discuss how to go about creating diverse characters.
Yeh, we know we're all super white girls, but that's actually the point - how do we, as the privileged majority, depict realistic fictional people of colour, LGBTQ+ or neurodiverse characters when we don't have those experiences ourselves, and where do we draw the line between stories that are ours to tell and stories that aren't? Together we scratch the surface of this HUGE topic, give you some tips on ways to research and things to avoid, and drop plenty of examples of the good versus the not so good (we're lookin' at you JK!)
