In episode 205 of Film Focus, I share my review of 100 Meters, the anime film adaptation of the manga created by Uoto.I’ve been curious about this film since late summer, and funnily enough, I never watched any trailers before seeing it. All I had was the premise and some posters online, but that was enough to pique my interest. I’m not a big sports fan, but if a film is made well, I’ll definitely give it a try. Considering the nature of anime and what can be achieved through storytelling and visuals, there’s a high likelihood that the end result will be worth my time. In episode 201 of Film Focus, I share my thoughts on the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 and the second trailer for Tron: Ares.Both films debut in October, and I am excited yet cautious about both. Mortal Kombat 2 is a sequel to the 2021 film, which I enjoyed but recognised had several issues. I am cautiously optimistic about the sequel, given the cast and interviews from the creative team, which are promising a better film this time. As for Tron: Ares, I have wanted another movie in this universe, considering how Tron: Legacy ended in 2010. The universe has untapped potential for more adventures. However, Ares appears to be a soft reboot, which has so far dismissed most of the core elements of the previous film and is focusing on a new story with a darker tone and a slightly controversial lead actor as the protagonist.So, what did I think of these trailers? In episode 151 of Film Focus, I finally get around to sharing my thoughts on the newest Dragon Ball film; Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Now I absolutely loved Broly in 2019, so naturally, I was excited for whatever Toei would release afterwards. I think we were all blindsided by the switch to 3D animation and how it was initially presented to us. But with time I slowly started to adjust to it and went from trepidation to cautious optimism. Now I am extremely passionate about video game adaptations as I believe they have the potential to be the next big genre in Hollywood if the right IPs are adapted with the right filmmakers. Alas since their inception there has been a lot of missteps in translating their unique elements from games to film.

On episode 91 of Film Focus, I finally get to discuss my hopes and fears for the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot coming out in 2021. But unlike previous years I've decided to do a top 11 because 1) After going through my list I just couldn't leave the final number at ten and had to add one more. On episode 66 of Film Focus, I'm finally doing it, after a few delays I am finally getting around to my discussion/review of the Dragon Ball Z films. With Dragon Ball Super: Broly recently released in Japan and the western release in cinemas dropping in January, I thought it would be interesting to revisit all 15 of the Dragon Ball Z films and see how they held up. Now I love the Dragon Ball franchise, I grew up with DBZ and the films have are an interesting collection of material that ranges from pretty awesome to very bad, and I thought it would be fun to examine each of the films briefly and discuss:
1) The pros and cons. 2) The story, characters and presentation. 3) Whether the films have gotten better or worse after my recent viewings from a subjective point of view.

On episode 44 of Film Focus, returning guest Drew and I talk about the last major release of 2017; Star Wars: The Last Jedi. On episode 43 of Film Focus, I review the last superhero film of the year in the form of Justice League. Now, this film has had such a troubled journey to its release with changes to the script and tone after the reception of both Batman V Superman and Wonder Woman, the unfortunate tragedy that made Zack Synder step away from the film and the conflicting reports about how much was changed during Joss Whedon's time as the director tasked with finishing the film. Anyway, the film is out and now I'm going to pass judgement!

On episode 35 of Film Focus, I talk about the latest film in the Planet of the Apes reboot series; War for the Planet of the Apes. Now of all the films I was looking forward to this year including Logan, Guardians 2, Spider-Man and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok and Star Wars Episode VIII, War for the Planet of the Apes was easily in the top 3. Back in 2011 Rise really blew me away with its interesting story, characters, and action, and then Dawn came out 2014 and completely floored me with the character-driven story, drama, and visual effects. On episode 26 of Film Focus, I'm doing a double film review for John Wick: Chapter 2 & The Lego Batman Movie. On episode 22 of Film Focus, I talk about Assassin's Creed; the most recent video game adaptation based on the popular game series. So it is 2017, and how does one start their new film experience in the cinema? By watching a terrible film, that's how!
Now this film got slaughtered by critics when it was released in late December last year and didn't fare much better when it was finally released in the UK at the start of this year, so I knew it'd be bad, but I had no idea it'd be as terrible as it was. So this review will be a sort of rant at the same time, there will be passion in my words and a fair amount of shouting too, so with that in mind I hope you enjoy this episode.

On episode 20 of Film Focus I talk about the long-awaited spin-off/prequel film; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This long-awaited film has been one of the most talked about films of 2016 from its placement in the Star Wars film timeline to the endless discussions revolving the reshoots, there was a lot riding on this film as the first experimental deviation from the regular Star Wars formula. So how does the film hold up? Well, check out the review to find out.
Oh and just so you know there will be spoilers at the end of the episode if you wish to avoid them stop listening at 29:10... But if you want some filthy spoilers it starts from 29:11 onwards. Enjoy!

On episode 18 of Film Focus, I decided to focus on the use of music in film and discuss some of my favourite uses in certain films I've seen over the years. Since there are a lot of films to choose from I selected a few from different periods which had a lot of fun, interesting and emotional significance. Now there's a lot more choices I didn't get to include especially with the Quentin Tarantino films too, however, I decided to keep things to a reasonable length and I may come back to this topic in a future episode.

On episode 11 of Film Focus I finally get around to reviewing the third film in the new set of Star Trek films; Star Trek Beyond. Now, this is the first film in this rebooted franchise to feature Justin Lin in the director's seat and to have Simon Pegg in the writing position too, and while the trailers have been serviceable, the early buzz for the film from critics gave me hope. On episode 9 of Film Focus, I discuss my hopes and fears for the upcoming 2018 Sonic the Hedgehog film. Even though the major announcement of Sonic's jump to the big screen was made back in 2014, there hasn't been any major talk about it since, and since the very concept of it being a live-action/CGI hybrid just troubles me to the core, I thought it'd be an interesting topic to bring up for the podcast.
P.S. During the portion of the episode I made a verbal mistake about Sonic Underground saying that Sonic had brothers, instead of saying siblings as I am aware he has a brother and sister haha.
