I reviewed the final Heat game in 2023 where the Hawks lost by 6 points in double overtime. Did you watch? Because if you did, you saw how Butler and Herro and Jovic hurt the Hawks entire game including Highsmith off the bench. If Trae is the only reason Hawks lose games per his defense, how did Herro score 33, Butler score 25 and Jovic score 23 and the Heat hit 18 threes? Because Trae didn't play in that game. In today's review, you'll see much of the same. And it's pre-season. After showing the Pacers and Sixers game, to keep seeing the same things is disturbing. I've discussed: not blocking out, not getting back on defense, not rotating, over helping, not contesting shots, no communication, not fighting through screens and more for a long time. The 2022 season was not fun. Ended the year 41-41. Never had a win streak longer than 5 games. Lost to bad teams often. Lost 13 games after having a 10 point lead or more. Lost several games despite being within 5 points with 3 minutes left. Did not improve as a defensive team for the 2nd straight year. Team was on pace to probably not make the play-in at all. There was a coaching change late in the season. The team "did" qualify for the play-in, won that game. Played the defending Eastern Conference Champions and despite most saying the Hawks would be swept, had opportunities to actually win the series. Several Boston players commented how if the coaching change had happened earlier in season, Hawks would be a top 5 or higher seed in the East. What is going to happen this offseason? What players will stay and who will go? Who all will be on the new coaching staff with Snyder? There were some positives. Trae Young led league in total assists for 2nd straight year. AJ Griffin was recognized as a rizing star. Big O was a force off the bench, even getting into the top 10 in blocked shots per game. Jalen Johnson impressed many with his play. Lets talk Hawks. After, I want you to ask yourself, is what we have better than what Coach Bud was doing? Remember who was on the 60 win team. Individually, those players don't threaten anybody. Together, they beat everybody and made it to the ECF. I will also talk about in game situations again, shot selections, etc. We have 18 losses now. When will things get better? Can they get better? The Atlanta Hawks had a tumultuous season that ended in the worst way possible. Many questions arose regarding the front office, coaching, and the players. 39 losses, little effort on defense, and an ugly 1st round ouster by the Miami Heat. What all needs to happen to improve the team? What all needs to happen to not let a season like Trae Young just had not be wasted?
The NBA Draft will be the first opportunity to see what direction the team might be going in. Amidst trade rumors that never favor the Hawks, there is an air of doubt hovering over the team. Who will stay, who will go, and who might replace them? Do you really move an established player for an unproven college player and start them? Use the picks to obtain an established player and fill a need? Do you draft and stash, like in previous years?

The end of an era happened last summer with the retirement announcement of our guest tonight. After 15 plus years hosting the pre-game shows for both the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Hawks, he became a permenent fixture in the homes of millions of Atlanta sports fans all over. The night before the NFL Draft. Teams are finalizing their strategies for a huge weekend of possible franchise changing decisions. During this off-season, we have seen a great deal of change with the Atlanta Falcons. HOF quarterback Matt Ryan is no longer here. Calvin was suspended for a year. Foye is gone. Fresh off a 5 game gentlemen's sweep of the NY Knicks in the first round, there were several in the media that still did not want to give the Hawks any credit. The Knicks had the MIP of the Year. They had a top defense. They hit three's. They have the NBA Coach of the Year. But nope, Hawks just got lucky. There was no way they would be competitive against Philly. Game 1, the Hawks destroyed Philly for 3.5 quarters but when Philly finally woke up, it wasn't enough because the Hawks made plays to still win the game.
Why the continued disrespect? Why is it so hard to acknowledge to the accomplishments of the team and their success? What will happen in the next game? Will Hunter play? How will Philly try to stop the team?

With a dominating performance Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks are poised for a franchise changing win in game 5 of the NBA Playoffs vs the Knicks. This team had a tumultous season and easily could have folded earlier in the season. Instead, a coaching change was made, a plan of action was created and instilled into the players, and one of the greatest turnarounds occurred. What happened on Sunday and what are the keys to a series clinching win?

The media has had to backtrack from their OVERWHELMING support for a team that has missed the playoffs 13 of the past 20 years. Trae Young had a tremendous first playoff game, had a game winning shot, team played great defense, players hit clutch shots. But game two is Wednesday, what can we expect?
Julio Jones looks like he is heading out. But how did we officially hear about it? Shannon Sharpe went against all protocols and put Julio on the phone during a live show. Private is private for a reason. It's unprofessional what Sharpe did. I said that we barely beat the Nets last time "with" Paul and Baze. I said we legit might not make the playoffs at all, 36 losses. I've been saying that Prince should have been starting 2 months ago. Said that Bembry should be getting all the minutes at backup point guard. I said that Pauls production could be replaced either by 1 player or a combination of players, like Illy and Humph. I said that sef and baze should be coming off the bench, because their average plus whatever dunleavy, humph, illy and bembry would give us would be more than enough. No, the Atlanta Hawks were not going to win 60 games back to back. But they should still win 50 plus right? Does it seem like that will happen? There are stretche where the Hawks look dominate, then New York happened Sunday. What happens from Tuesday where they came all the way back to Sunday where they flirt with looking like it doesn't matter if they win or lose? Besides Kyle's slump, and teams locking him down, what else is hindering the team from being ultra successful, where again, the East is up for grabs. Are we giving up too many losses for sake of trial and error? Or, does it matter at all and as long as we get into playoffs..............Much easier to get through rounds battling weaker teams than starting off with the most difficult team, unless you're ready to beat the Cavs. Right now, Hawks stand to finish in the top three at minimum. But the inconsistent play can easily have them in the bottom half of 8 teams.

It's the same story, how long will fans have to be locked into a state of just being "ok". After never having back to back winning seasons, Mike Smith finally made that happen, then after that never was able to get the team to the plateau that really matters, The Super Bowl. After two back to back losing seasons, plug was pulled and new blood brought it. One that would immediately address a 25 year old weakness, defense. It was obvious from the start that bringing in DQ was a great move and even at this point of the season, the one thing you can't say is "the defense didn't do enough". For the first time, the offense is not holding up their side of the ball. Why? Matt Ryan is having his worse season right now. The running game, which was at one point the best in the league, is now being stopped, but is it the running backs? The offensive line, which going into training camp was rag tag at best, actually proved function through the first 6 to 8 weeks of the season. But is it their fault? I personally blame this current situation on two people. The offensive coordinator and the general manager. Both have to go. This is my topic for tonight. Will mention Hawks, but I rather let them rest, they deserve it.
We have reached a moment in Atlanta sports, a state of flux. Where things can either get much better or can end in disaster. With the Hawks, coming off a 60 win season expectations were high but tempered. But the way things are going, this team could get knocked out the first round. The Falcons were coming off back to back losing seasons, not competitive, just looked pathetic. New coach, new defense brought hope. And Coach Q has delivered, Falcons have one of the better defenses in the NFL. Unfortunately the change hasn't translated to the offense. More particularly to Matt Ryan, who has now thrown 12 interceptions this year, with no end in sight. With 5 losses, the Falcons are on the verge of missing the playoffs again and possibly finishing under .500. The University of Georgia did something that truly, nobody probably still believes is factual. Mark Richt will no longer be the head coach. Who will replace him? Yes, it was the first game of a long season. Yes, starters were rested on the last game of the pre-season. But should that be an excuse for a lackluster performance? We had a fully healthy team on the floor. Four All-Stars on the floor. Coach Bud still on the bench. So what happened? And, does it mean anything for the rest of the season? Why was THJ on the bench? On the eve of the NBA Playoffs, the Hawks have been resting starters, getting injured players back, and doing a great job of reinstituting all the habits that put them on top of the Eastern Conference. But you still have doubters. You have people saying the Bulls will come back and win. Most everybody says the Cavs are the top seed. People say Golden State are a shoe in to win even tho the Spurs are still playing basketball. How do you feel? What reasons do you have that the Hawks are indeed the favorites to win it all? The regular season doesn't matter. People keep saying that. Yet, you have several teams in the west and east that are battling for a playoff spot, every regular season game mattering. So what will it mean to the Hawks when they clinch the division and conference before April? What will the new injuries to the Hawks mean over the next 6 weeks?

The Atlanta Hawks have had its best season ever so far, poised to win 60 games and make a deep playoff run. But people insist on using the past playoff history to totally write the team off. Is that fair or is in just the facts? One era was Nique`s, couldn't get past Jordan, Bird, Pistons. The other era is more recent, a younger Al, different coaches, and despite having talented, still exited in either the first or second round for 7 years straight. What makes this year different? Now, a mega player could hold a team and indeed the league hostage awaiting the decision of where that player has decided to sign. With the new television deal upcoming, will it get worse. Two new stadiums are being built and will be finished in 2017. How do you think the Hawks, Falcons and Braves will do between now and then? Over the past 3 years the Atlanta Hawks have undergone a major transformation. Money and production didn't translate with Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams, so they were removed from team. Josh Smith was not traded, his contract ran out and he signed with another team, which also couldn't trade him and they waived him, in which he signed with another team that right now are borderline wanting to cut him. Drafting of players has improved tremendously. In 2013 the Hawks hired a new coach, a pupil of Popovich in San Antonio. Despite losing their top player and many others for a total of 180 games to injuries, Hawks made the playoffs for the 7th straight year and almost beat the then number one seed Indiana Pacers. So far this year, the Hawks are leaders in the Eastern Conference and Southeast Division. They have the best winning percentage against teams over .500 in the NBA. They have one of the best offenses and defenses in the NBA. They have one of the best home and road records in the NBA. Yet, people still do not want to count them as a "legitimate" team, despite beating (handling) other so called legit teams. Why is this?

When you are made an offer by an employer to work for them and you sign that offer, you agree to accept that amount of money no matter what. You lose all leverage, flexibility. And there is nothing wrong with that, if you are being paid an amount that takes care of all of your needs. If you sign for an amount that is less that what you "need", what happened? Seeing the Atlanta Falcons buck up and win a game on the road, after everybody had been saying how its the Saints division to lose......So what about this week? Tonight the Hawks have their toughest test against a new look Mavs team, then the LA Clippers come to Atlanta. And then Sunday the Falcons are at home as the Panthers are trying to win the division for the second straight year. The pundants have definitely changed their tune, what about you? Over the past 40 years the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks have had interesting franchise histories. The Atlanta Hawks have never advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Atlanta Braves have one World Series despite having the most dominate starting pitching in history at one point. The Atlanta Falcons until recently had never had back to back winning seasons. Yes, "winning" isn't something Atlanta as a whole is known for immediate as opposed to the New York Yankees (almost three decades worth of World Series rings), Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bulls (Jordan era), etc.
But, does that mean that fans have an excuse not to show up to games at all? What makes Atlanta so much different from Indiana (Pacers haven't won a Finals yet), Chicago (Cubs still manage to have nice draws and they haven't won anything), or the Cleveland Browns (people keep referring them as a storied franchise, but they haven't won anything either). So what is it? "Hotlanta" would seem to be the best spot to be a sports fan. Great stadiums, great food, night life, and in the end, teams that are much more regularly competitive yearly than others (until recently Falcons had a 6 year streak going, Hawks have made playoffs 7 straight years, Braves regressed this year after having a great year last year).

Is money important? Is money important to you? How does money affect your daily life? What are you willing to do for money? What are you not willing to do for money? Are you making enough money? Are you making too much money? Do you have a savings account? Do you have any investments in any companies? How hard do you work for the money you make? How do you feel about what you do to earn money? Do you believe you will do it for the next 15 years? Would you want to? Will your kids be ok if something happened to you tomorrow? Will your kids be in debt? Will they have to pay for college on their own? If you had all the money in the world, what are three things you would do with it? If those three things are important, why aren't you doing them now? Money right? How long would it take to accomplish those important things with your own money? Is it even possible? Will your job pay you enough to pay off all of your debt? Are you satisfied with just being able to pay your bills every month? Call in, lend your viewpoints.
What is your opinion? Do you really feel that you're ready to do the following for the next 20 years of your life? Wake up at 7am. Leave your house at 8am. Get to work at 9am. Get off of work at 6pm. Run errands until 7pm. Get home at 8pm. Say hello to your kids/spouse, eat dinner until 9pm. Get things prepared for the next day until 10pm. Go to bed at 11pm or 12am. And you do this for 5 or 6 days a week, 50 or 51 weeks a year (depending on how much vacation time you have). Here is the better question, is the money that you make on your paycheck worth this for the next 20 years?

Player conduct. Owner conduct. The last few years have seen a noticeable increase of actions on and off the field that has changed the landscape of certain sports franchises. Whether it be players getting suspended for drug use, sexual assault, DUI's, owners accused of driving under the influence of drugs, carrying illegal drugs, saying racist statements, being charged for sexual assault (Jerry Jones), doesn't seem that anybody is getting it. People put themselves in positions they don't want to be in many times because they do not realize they have value. So they "accept" many things they hate as a result. They accept a low responsibility job. They accept low pay. This also goes into why some ignore education. They feel they have no value so education won't add anything to them. For those that do have an idea that they have some self worth, a decision has to be made on how much? You work hard, come to work on time, stay late, etc. Is that worth $10 an hour? $6 an hour? $20 an hour? People determine how much your life is worth, and you agree to it when you sign your name to the papers. People also determine how long you will work for the money they've decided to pay you. Have you worked on your job longer than 5 years? 10 years? 15 years? 20 years? Not many can say they've been on the same job 5 years in a row, and definitely not 10 years. A small few have been in the same job for 15 straight years. Are they truly earning what they are worth?
That's the question. How much is your life worth? Does it matter? Do you care? Do your children care? Why should you care? General discussion, call in if you have thoughts.
People have so many skills and abilities but never use them. They can cook, they can build, they can fix, they can organize, etc. People are good with numbers, memorization, presentation. People are good at sales, working with people. But why do people make the decision to never get paid on their own skills? Why do people shy away from doing things they enjoy and could get paid from it and get all the money? Going to discuss this by reading excerpts of articles written by myself.

If you don't know by now, the NFL's punishment for Ray Rice's actions toward his wife was a two game suspension. Does this open the door for athletes? Do you believe some players in the major sports will get the idea that they can "get away" with it like Ray did? What is your opinion? There are two sides to all stories. But, I am a proponent of being able to protect yourself. The "never hit a woman" rule does not give women carte blanche to do whatever they want, say whatever they want, etc. Especially in the times we live in now. Men will kill you, without blinking. Why put yourself in an ill position on purpose, especially with someone you "know" is violent. Now, if a man without any provocation or reason just starts beating a woman senselessly, there is no reason for that. Whoopi Goldberg and other women have said there is no reason a woman should put her hands on a man. And there is no reason a man should put his hands on a woman. But if a woman does so, she leaves the door open for a response. If you shoot a gun at someone, expect to get shot back. The reason this issue is so big, the essence that athletes, movie starts, musicians have an elevated right to do whatever they want, whenever they want and it's "swept under the rug" and "all is forgiven" after a period of time. It's not. You know there were women blaming Rhianna for getting beat up by Chris Brown? Does that sound reasonable?
Why do people discount themselves when it comes to earning massive amounts of money? Why do people not believe that earning tens of thousands a month is possible for them? Why do people argue why it's better for them to make $10 an hour rather than $100 an hour? Why do people have low self esteem and low self worth? Why do so many people "not" have confidence in themselves? Why do people choose to work hard for another person but "not" work as hard or harder for themselves and their families? Why?
Just like THE ROCK used to open his monologue on WWE Lebron James finally has ended "The Decision Part II" by announcing he will return to his first NBA Team. What will the fall out be? First, with his former teammates? His coach? Pat Riley? (guess that get a grip speech didn't work)......What will it mean for Melo and other free agents now?? How will the NBA treat this going forward? Lebron held the NBA hostage for weeks. Is that ok? And finally, what will this mean for the Atlanta Hawks? Tune in and give your opinions.
All signs point to Lebron leaving between the Cavs moving players and money left and right, trucks in front of Lebrons house, and numerous "sources" saying this and that.
