After starring at Franklin, Kayla began her collegiate career at Division-II Daemen before eventually transferring to Cortland. She also shares her thoughts on the transfer portal, her recovery from a torn ACL, and the mindset that guided her through rehabilitation.
Nate catches up with Cherry Valley-Springfield graduate Luke Bartlett at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. Luke talks about his lifelong passion for the outdoors, how it inspired him to study at SUNY Cobleskill, and the opportunities that followed, working in environmental conservation across New York State. Together, they revisit Luke's high school athletic career, including the freak injury that ended his senior season before it began. Rather than letting the setback define him, he reflects on the positive mindset that helped him continue supporting his teammates and how that experience gave him an even greater appreciation for the work he does today.
Nate stops by Worcester Central School for a conversation with Hayley Dawson, a native of Papamoa, New Zealand, who was helping at a summer basketball camp following her graduation from SUNY Morrisville. Hayley reflects on growing up in the beach town of Papamoa, the journey that brought her halfway around the world to pursue college basketball in the United States, and the determination it took to earn that opportunity. She discusses her time at Jamestown Community College before transferring to Morrisville, reflects on a collegiate career that included four different sports, and explains why basketball always remained her true passion. Along the way, Hayley shares what it means to be a proud Kiwi, the differences between New Zealand and American culture, and what she misses most about home.
Nate visits Richfield Springs Central School for a conversation with twin sisters and 2026 graduates Issy and Gabby Seamon, along with RS/ODY Girls Soccer Coach TJ Hoose. The episode looks back on an impressive stretch for the program that included two Tri-Valley League titles and a Section IV Class-D championship. Coach TJ reflects on the leadership Issy and Gabby provided while helping turn the team around. The sisters also discuss success in Basketball and Softball, highlighted by Issy joining the 1,000-point club on the hardwood. Nate is joined by Dejah Taylor, one of the most decorated sprinters in Sidney Track and Section IV history. Dejah leaves behind an incredible legacy with 14 school records across Indoor and Outdoor Track, including nine individual marks and five relay records. Sidney's 2026 Valedictorian will continue her academic and athletic career at Binghamton University as a member of the Division-I Track and Field program. Dejah reflects on her outstanding senior season, highlighted by a strong performance at the NYS championships, a trip to compete at historic Hayward Field in Oregon, and her recruiting journey. She finishes by sharing a rare and heartfelt look into her personal life, discussing the challenges she and her siblings have overcome while growing up.
Nate travels to Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School for this special episode entitled “All Things WAJ.” He visits with Hannah Tuttle, Piper Cohane, Gianna Garzone, and Sophia Garzone to discuss an outstanding 2025-2026 athletic season for the Warriors. WAJ Softball finished 21-1 and advanced to the NYS Class-D championship game, highlighted by memorable wins in both the Delaware League and Section IV Class-D title games. Hannah earned NYS Class-D Co-Player of the Year honors, while Piper was named to the NYS Class-D All-State 3rd Team. Piper, Gianna, and Sophia played major roles on the Warriors Alpine Ski team, which earned a 2nd place finish at the NYS championships after capturing a state title the year before. Piper also enjoyed standout individual success, posting strong finishes in both the giant slalom and slalom races. This episode looks back on a remarkable season for WAJ Girls Athletics and the memories these student-athletes created along the way.

Ashten just finished his junior season and has established himself as one of the top high school wrestlers in New York State, highlighted by his recent commitment to Binghamton University. He discusses that choice, while also providing an update on the elbow injury he suffered during the state tournament and the rehab process ahead. Also appearing on the podcast is Nate Leonard, head coach of the Gorilla Grapplers Wrestling Club and a longtime friend of the show. His easy going personality, approach to the business, and perspective on athletics are a refreshing change of pace for viewers throughout the region.
Nate welcomes Ellie Lees to the show, a 2024 Delaware Academy graduate who is now competing in cross country and track and field at the Division-I level for Binghamton University. Ellie discusses her transition to college running and how she has battled through two major injuries. She also shares what it has taken to settle in and carve out her role within the program. During her time at Delhi, Ellie built an outstanding career as a MAC and Section IV champion. As an 8th grader, she was a key member of the 2019 NYS Class-D cross country state championship team. The conversation also looks back on her progression and what has helped her continue that success at the next level.
Nate hits the road to Utica to catch up with Erin Hamlin, a Remsen native and one of the most decorated athletes in USA Luge history. Erin reflects on her journey to the Olympic stage, highlighted by her historic bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. That performance made her the first American to medal in singles luge and the first non-European woman to reach the podium. In this conversation, Erin shares what it took to compete at the highest level, the challenges along the way, and what that moment meant for her and the sport in the United States. Nate connects with Walton’s Grace Walley following her New York State Indoor Track and Field championship in the shot put. Her winning throw of 39-11.75 topped the field against athletes from all school sizes across the state. A junior, Grace is a 3-sport athlete and a multiple-time league all-star. She is a 1,000-point scorer in basketball and set a school record with 510 points this season. She also placed at states in outdoor track last spring. This conversation covers her success on the court, news about her college future, and growing up on her family farm, which has shaped her work ethic. Please note this was recorded prior to a recent non contact knee injury, which is expected to sideline her for an extended period and may require surgery. As a result, some of the topics discussed, including her upcoming spring track season and future plans, are now on hold.
The Nate Lull Podcast presents an episode titled “The Choices We Make.” Nate sits down with John Henson, a Cherry Valley native who spent 25 years in prison for the 1997 murder of Springfield Center resident Leslie Bartlett. Bartlett was a U.S. Army veteran, longtime owner of Ringwood Farms Campground, and a well-known community member whose death had a lasting impact on the region. Henson was 18 when the crime occurred, and he speaks candidly about the path that led to that moment and the consequences that followed. While incarcerated, he volunteered in a hospice program caring for inmates in their final days, an experience that forced him to confront the reality of death and his past actions. Now a family man living quietly after serving his sentence, Henson expresses remorse and says he hopes his experience may help others, especially young people, understand how quickly one moment can change everything. This episode is presented with respect for the memory of Leslie Bartlett and those affected by his loss. Co-host Rich Turnbull also joins Nate for this interview. Listener discretion is advised.
Nate talks with McKenna Hoyt, a standout senior for the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Basketball team. During her time with S/J, she has rewritten the record books, scoring more than 2,000 career points and breaking the all-time Delaware League scoring record. Despite all the milestones, McKenna prides herself on doing the little things that help her team win, from playing tough defense to crashing the boards. She also tells us about her commitment to Division-I Longwood University in Virginia and what it took to earn that opportunity. Nate visits with Bethany Adams to talk about the release of her new book, "Unsupported," which is out now. One of the most well-known climbers in the Adirondacks, Adams holds more than 100 FKT records across the region’s toughest terrain. In "Unsupported," she tells the story of attempting to hike all 46 Adirondack High Peaks in one continuous effort while chasing the fastest known finishing time. She is very open in this interview, sharing what she was going through in her personal life and how it helped her push toward a challenge that once seemed impossible. Nate catches up with Sidney’s Bella Phelps following her first New York State girls wrestling championship. Bella went 45-1 this season and topped the podium at 114 pounds in Albany. She was dominant in the tournament, winning her final match 11-1. Bella is a sophomore with more than 100 career victories and is the first girls wrestling state champion in school history. She talks about her renewed focus this season and how she locked in mentally to get the job done. This conversation was recorded right after Bella’s celebration parade on Main Street in Sidney.
Nate sits down with the mother-daughter duo of Nicole and Genevieve Huston from Whitney Point for a special field hockey episode. Nicole has helped build one of the most successful programs in New York State, as the Eagles have captured 10 NYS titles since 2014. Genevieve is headed to play Division-I at Syracuse University after helping WP win five state championships during her career. She explains why SU was the right fit and discusses the commitment required to compete at the next level, from travel ball demands to managing stomach issues with a strict diet. Nicole shares insight into the culture behind the Eagles’ historic success and what it takes to keep the program performing at such a high level. She also reflects on the unique experience of coaching both of her daughters, Genevieve and Anah, while balancing the roles of mom and coach. Often described as the steady voice behind the dynasty, Nicole talks about what has fueled the Eagles’ remarkable run.
Nate makes a special trip to Boston to sit down with Haley Winn of the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team following her gold medal performance at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy. Haley grew up in Rochester and also has strong family ties to Bainbridge, where she has spent significant time over the years. That local connection makes this moment even more meaningful. She played a major role on the blue line for Team USA during the tournament, recording one goal, three assists, and a +11 rating. After a decorated Division-I career at Clarkson University, Haley was drafted second overall by the Boston Fleet in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League Draft. Nate visits with Oneonta graduate Bruce Mistler, who is in his first year of college baseball at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. A 2025 OHS grad, Bruce played in a Jackets program that enjoyed major success in recent years, including Section IV titles in 2022, 2024, and 2025. He talks about the recruiting process and what helped guide his college decision, along with the unique challenge of wanting to both pitch and hit at the next level. Bruce also looks back on some of his favorite memories with the Oneonta baseball program.
Nate sits down with Delaware Academy alumna, Logan (Bruce) Adlum. A state champion in both track and field and basketball at DA, Logan went on to an outstanding track career at Ithaca College. She graduated in 2024 as a seven-time All-American, setting multiple school records and finishing as a four-time national runner-up. In this episode, Logan talks about her time in PT school and the challenge of pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy while competing in college athletics at a high level. She also reflects on the stress that came with balancing both paths and how she worked through it.
Nate catches up with Laycee Drake as she returns to the podcast to share her college basketball journey. Now a graduate student at St. Bonaventure University, the Hancock alumna is using her final year of eligibility to play for Coach Jim Crowley. Nate welcomes Marc Cerbone to the show, a 1992 Sidney graduate whose baseball career took him around the world and even to the Olympics. Marc was a standout pitcher at SCS, and in his senior year he threw the only perfect game in school history against Walton. He played NAIA baseball at Dominican University before beginning an 11-year professional career that included several seasons in Italy. Marc also represented Team Italy in international tournaments, including the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. His Olympic jersey was once displayed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Now a state trooper in North Carolina, Marc talks about his journey from baseball to police work, and much more.
The Nate Lull Podcast presents: The Story of Lady Upton. Nate and co-host Rich Turnbull share the remarkable story of Lady Upton, a nationally known harness racing horse from the small community of Mount Upton, New York. Born in 1864, she became one of the most successful “athletes” to ever come out of Chenango County, dominating regional racetracks in the 1870s and 1880s. Despite her success, Lady Upton still worked as a farm horse for the Chamberlain family, who played a significant role in her life and the community around her. She traveled by railroad to races across the Northeast and Canada, and her grave monument is still cared for today. Many may not know this story, so this project aims to bring her life back to the forefront in audio form. It’s the result of nine months of research and collaboration to honor her incredible legacy. Rena went on to play at the Division-II level for Southern Connecticut State University before building a life and career in Orlando, Florida. Nate connects with a true coaching legend, former Hartwick Men’s Soccer Coach, Jim Lennox. Jim spent 27 years at Hartwick, closing his career with 318 wins and leading his squad to the 1977 NCAA Division-I title. His teams made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five trips to the Final Four. Jim also played a key role with the U.S. Soccer program and, in 2013, received the Walt Chyzowych Award for Lifetime Achievement. He coached back-to-back Hermann Trophy winners, Glenn Myernick in 1976 and Billy Gazonas in 1977. Nate celebrates a major milestone with Episode 300 of the podcast. He welcomes the only two coaches in the 52-year history of the Oneonta Girls Soccer program: Helen Sandford and Jerry Mackey. Helen started the program in 1973 and led it for 30 years, while Jerry has continued to build on her legacy, guiding the Jackets to sustained success, including a state title in 2013. Both are members of the Mustangs Women's Basketball team and were key former players on Nate's Armadillos squad. Celeste also plays softball, while Anyssia competes on the lacrosse team. Anyssia is one of the top female motocross riders in the Northeast as well. Listen in to hear how they balance multiple athletic activities at the college level.

Nate takes a trip to Binghamton High School to catch up with basketball standout, Zubayr Griffin, and BHS Coach, Duncan Paddick. The Patriots are fresh off winning the 2025 NYS Class-AA title in front of a sellout crowd at the Binghamton Arena. Zubayr scored over 2,000 points in his varsity career and is headed to D1 Monmouth University to play for King Rice. Duncan and his staff organized a team that made history by winning the school's first basketball state title since 1986.
Nate sits down with Hartwick College Women's Flag Football Coach, Aaron Zurn. This new program will begin play in 2026 and Coach Zurn discusses his vision for the Hawks Flag squad. Aaron is a Sidney grad and was the NYS Class-C Football Player of the Year when SCS won the state title in 2005. He was also the offensive coordinator in 2016 when Sidney made a run to the state final four. The guys take a trip down memory lane while also focusing on what the future holds at Hartwick.

Alexia was born without a right hand, but that has never stopped her from excelling in athletics, specifically soccer. She was named captain of the very first Team USA Amputees Women's World Cup squad in 2024, where she was a goalkeeper. Alexia was awarded the Golden Glove for the tournament, which is given to the best goalie. Hear about her soccer journey, starting her own business, and much more.
Nate visits Sidney High School to sit down with local basketball legend, Jeri Mirabito. Jeri is well known for running the famous Golden Valley Basketball Camp in Sidney from 1985-1998. He was responsible for bringing dozens of NBA and high level college players to his small town camp for the kids to enjoy and learn from. This was a tradition that GV was well known for. Jeri also talks about the time he spent on Lou Carnesecca's coaching staff at St. John's University and winning a national championship at SUNY Potsdam as a player in 1981. Before that, Jeri led his Sidney team to the 1979 NYS Class-B title and was named MVP of the state tournament. Jeri was diagnosed with MS in 1993 but continues to live his life to the fullest today.
Nate takes a road trip to Elmira College to learn about the Section IV connections with the EC Men's Basketball program. Nate interviews Elmira Head Coach, Casey McGraw, and Assistant Coach, Brady Harrington. Casey is related to the McGraw family in Oneonta and Brady is a Whitney Point grad. They discuss their coaching backgrounds, recruiting advice and how they both found a home with the Soaring Eagles.
Nate hits the road to catch up with Gilboa-Conesville alumna, Kara Dumas. She is a 2022 GCCS grad and was a four-sport athlete for the Wildcats. Kara now attends SUNY Cortland and plays for the Women's Golf program. She talks about her unique road to college athletics and how she never gave up on making the Cortland team. Kara captured two Delaware League Golf titles during her high school career. She is also a three-time winner of the Stamford Golf Club Women's Championship.

Nate visits Maine-Endwell High School to talk with Spartans alumna, Kaety L'Amoreaux. She is currently a sophomore for the Division 1 Fairfield University Women's Basketball team. Kaety enjoyed a breakout freshman campaign with multiple awards and accolades for the Stags. She was a three-sport standout in high school with such highlights as scoring 1,853 career points in basketball and winning a state championship in softball.
Nate gets the opportunity to sit down with Morris Central School Basketball legend, Bryan Gorsira. Bryan is second on the all-time boys scoring list at MCS with 1,174 points. He is well known for his smooth shot while playing under coach Tom Moriarty. The Mustangs won two TVL titles and one Section IV championship during Gorsira's time in the blue and white. One additional note: The New Berlin establishment mentioned at the end of the episode was the Eagle Hotel.
Nate travels to Worcester Central School to sit down with 2024 grad, Hailey Shalor. She is second on the WCS Girls Basketball scoring list, and nailed 249 three-pointers while wearing the green and white. Hailey talks about heading off to play at the University of Mount Saint Vincent next year and looks back on her time as a three-sport athlete for the Wolverines.

He tells us what his feelings were leading up to the big day and what the future might hold for him in his baseball career.
Nate brings on the founder of the Blendos Health and Longevity Movement, Cam Hayes. He tells us about the 2nd Annual Blend-A-Rama 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on July 29th and 30th in Oneonta. Nate hits the road to IAC country to sit down with Moravia Boys Basketball Coach, Todd Mulvaney. He has built a powerhouse program that continually competes at the highest level in the Section IV and NYS playoffs. In recent history, the Blue Devils have had numerous battles with teams from the MAC and two epic showdowns at the state tournament with Cooperstown. Widely considered one of the best female basketball players in local history, Courtney finished her high school career with 1,918 points and 942 rebounds. She led the Bobcats to the state finals during her senior year and she pumped in an amazing 650 points in one season. B-G went 83-15 during her playing days. She went on to a stellar Division-I career at St. Bonaventure University where she ended with 1,256 points and 585 rebounds. You can often find Joe at various sporting and community events throughout the WCDO coverage area. He is a very active supporter of high school athletics. Joe was the Chief of Police in Norwich for nearly 20 years and was in the US Marine Corps from 1985-2008. He retired as a Sergeant Major and also received two Purple Hearts.

Nate finally catches up with Windsor baseball coach, Brandon Olbrys. Many of you know Coach O from his time with Hancock and D/H baseball. He is one of the most successful young coaches in the area with 215 wins in just 11 years. At Hancock and D/H his teams won eight S4 titles and made four appearances in the state final four.
