Anne Abernathy is a World Ranked Archer training for the 2024 Summer Olympics in the sport of archery. This will be her 7th Olympic appearance. In 2002 she became the oldest female athlete in any sport to compete in the history of the Winter Olympic Games breaking the 1936 record. She qualified for her 6th Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy 2006. She is nicknamed "Grandma Luge"Breaking barriers and making historic “firsts” is not new to Anne. In Albertville 1992, she became the first Olympian to ever compete with a camera on board (nominated for technical Emmy) and in Lillehammer 1994 she created the first online Olympic diary (precursor to a Blog) for AOL. To compete in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics she had to overcome a severe crash with a resulting concussion and head injury. One magazine article dubbed her “Grandma Miracle” and the Discovery Health Channel documented her comeback in the premier of the “Impact, Stories of Survival” series. In addition to the concussion, she has overcome cancer, multiple broken bones, 20 knee surgeries and even a hurricane that destroyed her home in St. Thomas.A recipient of numerous awards, including the International Luge Federation Medal of Honor, she was selected as the Athletes International 2004 Olympic Athlete of the Year. She is also a two time nominee by the FIL for the prestigious International Olympic Committee Women in Sports Award. Anne’s achievements have earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records. In 2008 she was honored as a Woman of Achievement joining the ranks of Katie Couric and was chosen as one of the top 100 female athletes of year for the 2006 Women’s Sports Foundation “Parade of Champions”. Anne, as an elite luge athlete, competed against athletes less than a third her age.Anne is an author, inspirational speaker, expert commentator for CBS and the BBC, and was the celebrity spokesperson for SCA’s Clio Award winning “Be TENAcious” Campaign.

She is a world-renowned Australian scientist with over 30 years of clinical experience treating tough conditions such as Parkinson’s disease which effects 10 million people worldwide, and chronic headache. In her work on Parkinson's she has seen improvements in mobility, balance, cognition, fine motor control, and sense of smell just to name a few.She is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Sydney University, Coordinator of Photomolecular Research at the SAN Hospital and has accepted an offer of a visiting professorship at the University at Buffalo, NY. Dr Liebert is a co-founder, director and the Chief Scientist at SYMBYX, a medical technology company developing light therapies known as (PBM) to manage neurodegenerative disorders. Dr Liebert also specializes in treating chronic pain and migraine headaches, which is informed by her previous PhD research.Dr Liebert’s work in treating Parkinson’s patients is supported by the use of mostly infrared laser light therapies. This area of medicine is known as photobiomodulation (“PBM”). She now concentrates on conducting clinical trials of Parkinson’s disease symptomatic reduction with PBM, including explaining the mechanisms of action of PBM and light treatment. Dr Liebert’s discoveries are currently being translated into commercially available therapies and she is bringing new hope to people with Parkinson’s (“PWP”) around the world.
