We left off with Saul (Paul) in Tarsus and Peter in Joppa. In this study, we quickly overview the first Roman convert to Christianity, the death of James, the rescue of Peter, and the death of Herod. We bring Saul, Barnabas, and John/Mark to Antioch. We are ready now for what happens next, Paul's first missionary journey.
Here we cover the calling and conversion of Saul. The recording equipment cut out about halfway through, so this episode is shorter. Next week, we will review in detail information not available in this recording.
We've met Saul in Acts 7; Saul will meet Jesus in Acts 9. In the meantime, the Lord uses even the persecution of Saul and others to advance the Gospel from Jerusalem through Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.
Listen in on our weekly Bible Study at St. James Lutheran Church. We're beginning a study of the life and ministry of St. Paul, his missionary journeys. To provide context, we review The Acts of the Apostles, chapters 1-7. This leads us up to an introduction to Saul, who will become St. Paul.
Listen in on our weekly Bible Study at St. James Lutheran Church. We're beginning a study of the life and ministry of St. Paul, his missionary journeys. To set the scene, we look at Daniel 2 and the dream that the King of Babylon had. Daniel interprets this dream as a prophesy of the rise and fall of four nations (Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome), and of the coming of the Kingdom of Christ, which fills the whole earth. St. Paul's ministry is part of the fulfillment of this prophecy of the coming of Christ's Kingdom, and his journeys take him into the landscape, history, and culture of Greece and Rome.

We start in the Gospel of John, chapter 1, and then follow the invitation of St. John to return to "the beginning." We'll be tracing the Trinity and Incarnation through the Old and then the New Testament.
