Inspiration, clarity, confidence and wholehearted growth strategies, the Podcast especially for women who are stepping into their next chapter in business and life. Angela Raspass shares her own insights in solo episodes and hosts expansive conversations with women around the world, discussing their choices, paths, challenges, and triumphs.
Menopause can leave you floundering around in the negative narratives that society has created
But it can also be a massively empowering stage of life if we choose to embrace it – a time of reckoning when we ask ourselves “what have I done, what do I want to do now, where am I going?”.
The Mary Oliver quote comes to mind now that we can be self-ful at this stage “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
New found freedom is a delight – you don’t need to conform anymore, we can be Leaders not Breeders, we can take up more space and advocate for ourselves!
Don’t be ageist against yourself like I initially was
About the speaker
I'm Rachel Lankester, founder of the Magnificent Midlife Movement. My niggling feeling led me to now. I've had several careers, including journalism, banking and PR, but I most LOVE what I do now - helping like-minded women in midlife and beyond feel great and live life to the fullest.
How did I get here? Let's rewind.
I went through early menopause at 41, devastating at the time, as I was trying for a second child, but in retrospect, a positive experience.
It took me on a journey of introspection and soul-searching. Now at 54, I'm better and bolder than ever. Though still battling those self-doubt demons from time to time! Don't we all?
I'm passionate about helping women navigate the often messy middle of life. So you can thrive not just survive. And become the woman you were meant to be.
I challenge the status quo and work to change negative stereotypes associated with older women. I believe the older and more experienced we get, the more we have to offer the world and especially those women coming up behind us. We get better with age not worse.
But I don't believe in denying we're getting older or hiding it either. I'm not ashamed to be a midlife woman. I'm proud of it. I think I've earned those midlife stripes just as much as I've earned the laughter lines around my eyes. They don't diminish me in any way.
I share fabulous stories from wonderfully inspiring women in midlife and beyond on the Magnificent Midlife Podcast. For a quick dose of inspiration, it can't be beaten.

How do you move from being the chief executive officer of a large advertising Health Network in New York, with 100 people under your command, to being a medicine woman, a galactic Queen, and a channel of light and love? It sounds like an extreme case of juxtaposition, but the two actually existed side by side for quite some time in June’s life.
It was only when homeward bound after COVID hit in New York, and spending time on her spiritual retreat in Topi Topi in country New South Wales, that June realised that her desire for the latter had overtaken the former, and that it was time to step fully into her next chapter, and use the gifts that had been bestowed upon her.
This is a story of change of doubt, of fear, but more importantly, of trust, and how to really connect to and follow your heart so that you can step fully into the future that is calling you.

About the speaker
I'm June Laffey and I’m an Intuitive Mentor & Channel of Light and Love. I live and work at Topi Topi Retreat, a beautiful powerful and idyllic haven, just three hours north of Sydney. It has not always been this way. I only made the decision to commit to this work and follow my spiritual path in February 2021.
I work with the energy of this sacred land, whilst calling on my many spiritual gifts, including channelled light language and song. I am a kundalini reiki master also. This spiritual work is grounded by many years of international, creative leadership experience.
Throughout my significant corporate career, I recognised, shaped and championed both people and ideas. I worked in healthcare advertising, choosing to move to health in 2000 as I wanted to make a difference. I worked for a major network for the past decade, moving up from Executive Creative Director of the Sydney office, to Chief Creative Officer in their flagship office in New York. I have won many, many prestigious awards and have headed up pretty much all the major international health advertising award shows, including Cannes Lions pharma jury chair in 2017.
I’ve now chosen a fresh path, embracing my own truth by bringing clarity and empowerment to a whole new level. Quite simply I can help people find their power within, get out of their head and into their heart and move from jaded to joy.
My superpower is uniting other’s inner knowing with trust and action. By channelling my guides and tapping into others’ innate intuition, I can help remove blocks and make energetic shifts. People experience different things – from peace, serenity and certainty to energy, vibrancy, and growth. Results could be simple sudden clarity where people suddenly know how to make changes that have previously eluded them. Or a complete shift in their perception of life and what’s most important.
Whilst at Topi Topi, I channelled The Academy of Light handbook, with activations to help reunite people with their inner knowing and purpose.

Nicky lane had ticked all the boxes that she had been told with the essence of a good life qualifications a good job marriage motherhood. So why at 33 did she find herself disillusioned and disappointed? Living what she described as a mediocre life and feeling guilty about how she felt?
Nicky decided to ask herself different questions, questions that led her to tapping into not just logical choices, but heart led feelings and desires. And that's where she found her why that became the catalyst for her brave and expansive change journey in business and life.
I'm sure you'll find this conversation about personal evolution and possibilities, both inspiring and enjoyable.
Show Notes
Your life may not be “bad” – you’re not homeless, so you “should” be happy – that’s not a universal truth. The actual truth is that you don’t have to accept mediocrity.
Give yourself permission to not accept the status quo, to be brave, to back yourself and create your own path
Conduct a Head and Heart exercise – my head wanted me to focus on the logical challenges of change, the negatives, how I should stay in my comfort zone, but my heart, my heart told me the truth about how I felt, and how I would always feel if life continued in the same way.
The next step in the journey is the willingness to change
In my own journey, I realised that my spirituality has been pushed right down, but it’s such a part of me, so inbuilt, it only needed to be rediscovered and set free. I know when you believe in a higher purpose, a richer, more purposeful life is available to you
I wrote The Change Journey Book in flow – it wasn’t easy coasting, but the work felt light and enjoyable
The book and the accompanying deck of cards are a handbook and guidance for life, stepping you through the 10 stages of building self-awareness. The characters and their floral counterparts are character traits that will be of service depending on where you are in your own journey.
The core principle characters are Grateful Great, Optimistic Olivia, Zealous Zelda, Confident Carol, Empowered Emma and Joyful Jill
All you need is to start with small changes to tap into happiness – that energy is life-changing
About the speaker
In 2005 Nikki Lane left her marriage for no other reason than she wasn’t happy. She wasn’t being abused, they didn’t fight, and they didn’t hate each other. She just looked at her life one day and wondered, ‘How on earth did I end up here?’ This wasn’t the life she wanted to live and neither was her husband the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
She decided that living a mediocre life wasn’t enough for her, and so she left.
Turns out, it was the best decision she ever made and since that time, Nikki has travelled on a Change Journey of self-awareness. A journey that has led her to discover who she is and what she wants from life, which has brought joy and happiness into her world, more than she could have ever imagined.
Nikki now shares her experiences and teaches her Change Journey learnings to women from all around the world so that they too can gain self-awareness and choose to live a life they love. These teachings are available via The Change journey book, a set of oracle cards and personalised coaching programs.

It was one day in 2012 when Fiona Redding really woke up. She was 37, at home with two tiny kids, drinking every day, overweight, unfit and unhealthy. She had financial issues, could not find employment and felt deeply disconnected and very, very alone staring down the barrel of a future life that she could just not imagine living. She sat with one burning question that she could no longer escape – “How has this become my life?”.
Something really needed to change.
It’s now seven years after the day when she started the journey to become the person she wanted to be. Fiona decided to get out of her own way and her life has completely transformed in every single area. Through the Happiness Hunter, she is now focused on helping you get out of yours, as she teaches and shares everything that she's learned. I had the chance to speak with Fiona to hear about that journey and I'm delighted be able to share her insights with you.

I’ve found that overcoming obstacles and challenges is what can lead to happiness and definitely develops resilience, such an essential character trait. The gift IS in the struggle.
If you can learn to change your mind about things then you can literally change your world.
The three pillars are 1/ Enhancing your mindset, 2/ prioritising wellness and 3/ creating connection/building community

By her own admission, Fiona's journey into business has been an interesting road. It would have made much more sense logically to just go and get a "real job" at many points.
Yet it was an unshakable faith and trust in the path she had chosen that kept her metaphorically and literally putting one foot in front of the other.
Fiona's belief in her mission and purpose continues to be rewarded. With The Happiness Hunter community and walks, coaching, speaking and healing business helping other people change their lives. Fiona also runs programs, retreats and workshops catering to clients locally and internationally.

Sophie Andrews had created an award winning highly successful bookkeeping business. Her background of fashion and gemstones in the UK led itself brilliantly to her focusing on the needs of people in creative fields, and the business flourished.
But after 15 years of dedication, the demands began to take their toll, physically and emotionally. Sophie's priorities had shifted. She was becoming bored, the desire for the work was no longer there. And to be honest, she knew that burnout was waiting just around the corner. It was time for significant change, and as many of us realise, letting go of the known to step into the unknown can be hard. But we can do hard things! In this conversation Sophie and I talk about reframing our thoughts, letting go of old stories that keep us stuck, and choosing to swap striving for space so new ideas can make themselves heard.
Show Notes
The bookkeeping business was never my passion, but as a divorced, single Mum, control over my future was paramount, and I knew I could build a strong business in this area
I did actually begin another side business, the SOHO Agency (small office, home office agency) but the bookkeeping business demand exploded and I had to leave that one on the shelf
I realised the value of niching – I was the first bookkeeper who niched into a certain area, in my case, creative businesses, and it really paid off
I began to feel trapped. I had a big office, staff and all the responsibilities that went along with it
It was a meditation retreat, a new experience, that opened my mind to the fact that change was a non-negotiable. Once I had made my choice, I found a buyer within 3 months
Self-doubt still kicked in and I felt like I had failed in some way, had been so held back for 15 years. I had to reframe my attitude from resentment to gratitude, gratitude for all the business had delivered to me
I took time out, 4 months overseas to completely switch off and find my next idea. But it wasn’t long enough and another year followed. I realised I couldn’t strive to come up with a new idea from my logicalmind
It was during another meditation retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland where I found myself in complete flow and the answers just popped into my brain during meditation
Meditation had helped me to recover from burnout. My own experience with this and creating a beautiful spot I my home in which I practiced became the inspiration for my new business, the Meditation Hunter
If you are contemplating change, we very aware of the stories we tell ourselves and remember our decisions are a choice

The youngest of 6 to two working parents I learned at a young age that I had to make my own way and carve my own path. Leaving home at 16 and jumping into full time work at the same time I have never taken a back step or expected others to clear the way. From working in legal, computational and admin roles then to hospitality while my 2 beautiful kids were young I then took the leap to start my own financial services business which I still run today.
As my kids grew and started to carve out their futures I realised my marriage was well and truly over and my next chapter was about to begin, this included becoming a qualified yoga teacher and also now a health coach. Blessed to have lived most of my life on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria Australia in 2015 I moved to what many call “god’s country” the beautiful rural region of Gippsland Victoria to be with my new partner. It was the contrast between weekdays and weekends that made such an impact on Gary and Lisa. During the week they ran a family daycare service where they took care of small children who were dearly loved, wanted and cherished. But on the weekends when they were crisis carers in the foster system, they saw a very different reality. They also saw how babies and small children were easy to find placements for, but for teenagers, happy endings were far rarer as adolescents were shifted from placement to placement, with no stable family influences. Their outcomes were bleak. Although Lisa and Gary felt overwhelmed by the size of the systematic problem, they couldn't walk away from it. And an early 2020 they began to put their plan into action step by step. Today they've established and run a foster farm home for teenagers in rural New South Wales, alongside a charity “Give them a chance”. Their young charges are flourishing in an environment of acceptance, love, and clear boundaries. This is a beautiful story of next chapters that will fill you with warmth and hope.
About the speakers
Gary and Lisa Rayner are the founders of Give Them A Chance Inc. They owned a successful child care business in Sydney's Northern Beaches, spending their weekdays with very loved pre-schoolers with dedicated parents. On the weekends, they were Foster Crisis Carers for The Department of Community Services. The disparity between the weekday children's lives and the weekend children's trajectories was heartbreaking. Lisa and Gary have fostered more than 40 children and dreamed of doing more to help foster children. They decided to live out their passion of helping as many disadvantaged children as possible by relocating to the north coast of New South Wales to open "Treehouse Farm".
They have collected many pertinent, encouraging supporters along their way, and the community has grown. Supporters include school principals, psychologists, social workers, other child advocates and major supporter, Wesley Mission.

At the end of 2020 I was all tapped out creatively. I’d finally set my book free in the world, meeting a huge personal goal and I needed to allow myself time and space to just be for a while. I did have to battle a little with an inner critic who, in her inimitable judgmental way, assured me I’d disappear into obscurity if I dared to put my pen down awhile. I chose not to listen, allowed myself space to regroup and this new 10 part interview series all about change is the result several months later. It also coincides with a fresh chapter for me – a new online home that reflects my equal focus on strategy and self-worth.

Business change comes in evolutions.
Buckling under and following the “rules” to continually crank out content and stay visible is just not sustainable. Taking a creative break is often the best thing you can do, so give yourself permission to step back if you need too, especially in the weird world that COVID 19 has thrust upon us
Belief buddies are vital - they can help hold you to your own promises but also provide the spark of inspiration that gets you moving again. And when you recognise that spark, that thread, follow it…
So often a book can be a catalyst for growth and change, as you transform in private” – that was the case for me when I read “I thought it was just me, but it isn’t by Brene Brown in 2007.
Sometimes life takes you off on a detour, but eventually you find your way back and focus once again, on becoming the person you’ve always been meant to be
When the desire for change emerged again, this time to close my marketing agency, it took almost 12 months of wrangling with my inner critic to reach the point where I felt solidly anchored in both my desire to change and my sense of self-worth
Sometimes the market is not ready for your message… and you might need to be patient, to evolve slowly. But the real call, the real you, will bide its time.
Don’t try and convince and convert an audience that isn’t right for you and don’t try and contort yourself into a more agreeable shape.
That thing you’re considering changing to, turning towards, bringing to life – is it awesome? Does it help? Those are the only two boxes you need to tick

“I’ve always been drawn to the environment to indigenous culture, a connection to country” Suzy tells me. “It embodies more than just living in the country. We are connected to that land and we impact the land in what we do and how we do it”. Suzy speaks with a reverential appreciation that underpins all that she has done, is doing and will do in what she describes as a mosaic, portfolio career. In one of her core next chapter focus projects, Suzy has founded Two Green Threads, a NFP that cares for the carers of our wildlife, a significant and much-needed entity. Show Notes
Within 3 months I was juggling my daytime work and caring for wildlife. It delivered a fair bit of stress but I loved it.
It feels like a privilege to care for animals, you need to adopt a stillness no matter what is happening around you. You detach from the frantic spinning of the human world and experience a connection with a little being.
The intense connection with the wildlife is beautiful, but there was no conversation about the demands and the personal impact of the work, a consuming and emotional experience.
It took a number of years for me to be able to recognise and articulate what the problem was. It was my personal experience with my father’s mental instability, the fragility of the mind, that finally allowed me to decide to take action.
Two Green Threads is a national registered charity that offers wildlife carers understanding and acknowledgment along with a respectful and neutral shared language. It encompasses podcasts, webinars, PDF downloads, and will soon have courses rolling out.
Even though I could see and feel and had experienced the need, I still felt like an imposter when I addressed it. I was asking myself “is this what I am supposed to be doing? Is it simply grief distraction?”.
I bought myself a set of bracelets that had the inscription “but what if I fly?”, a powerful statement to bring me back, to anchor myself if I ever felt doubt.

I experienced a whole lot of “I can’t do this” and then the penny dropped after about 2-3 years in business
Marketing was a little scattergun at first and then I realised there is no magic, and that consistency is the key
Resilience, tenacity and a commitment to your why are all vital
At 48 I had a strong story, a sense of well-being, all the angst of my younger years was gone… and THEN anxiety and a sense of grief hit. I felt as though I had achieved nothing at all
I went searching for answers and realised I was in perimenopause – my memory got so bad I could plan my own surprise party!
I regrouped and started my next chapter because age is not a barrier to starting something new, learning something new, starting a business… whatever calls you!
Continue to have purpose – don’t just mark time
I’m a Great Dame, and I’m on my way to being a Grand Dame

It wasn’t until she ran headlong into ‘the change’ herself that she realised that this period of life was often misunderstood, neglected or downright denied. It was at the point she decided to set about changing the way we view this process.
She is committed to helping women achieve greatness by unlocking their true potential through acts of self-care and nourishment.
Marnie believes that if you change the relationship with self, you will change the world.

She has known both hard failure and delicious success and this allows her to share with an honesty that feels rare in the entrepreneurial space and quickly eradicates any pressure you might be feeling to “get it right, quickly” when you are in business for yourself. This is a conversation that will help you to see that next chapters are never final, that progress is always possible and that being true to yourself is your greatest gift, as that’s where impact always comes from. The external measurements of success we’re subjected too can be the biggest catalysts for doubt and a sense of unworthiness – let them go!
Asking yourself, “how much is enough for you” and designing your activities around that truth sets you free
No censoring of yourself, don’t hold back, your business will be sustainable when you are you
A closed first can’t grasp a gift, so stay open to learning, growing and receiving
If the work you are doing is not giving you a sense of purpose and meaning, remember that you get to choose the playing field where you play and it’s moveable!
Don’t mistake contribution with a need for expertise, instead, just commit to showing up and serving
Doubt is part of the creative process, life is the art of letting go and trusting
Have you fallen prey to the idea that you need a “big following”? I don’t and I have a great business with client relationships that I am deeply committed too.

My book notes journal says 2018, and yet I only just finished by manuscript in September 2020. Sometimes our goals and plans are waylaid by circumstance, but if it’s important enough to you, you’ll always return and manage to hit the mark.
Imposter Syndrome and the Comparison Trap, two tools of the trade that your Inner Critic engages to keep you safe and small in your Familiar Zone, were challenges that almost prevented me from writing at all. I had to face these head on, many times to keep moving forward.
What helped?
The idea that I am a contributor, not the expert. I buy loads of books on the same subject, learn something new each time, and appreciate the different perspectives. My own book will be no different.
I had a huge brain dump session with a colleague who had written a book before – we got all my ideas out of my head and onto a whiteboard. I could then appreciate that perhaps I did have enough content and experience to write a book! It also helped enormously to have a visual model – The Next Chapter Change Model, my own IP, that I could base the book around.
If you have a BIG endeavour you’re working towards, I highly recommend adopting the principles I followed - setting trifecta, smart and HEART goals to focus your progress.
HEART stands for harmonious, engaging, aspirational, refreshing, and transformative. The idea is to blend your goals so they address both sides of the achievement coin, and to ensure that you create an environment that supports the likelihood of achieving these goals. I used a blend of SMART and HEART trifecta goals to write this book, to help to create and manage my own ‘expectation environment’.
SMART trifecta goal: To write a 35,000-word (acceptable), 40,000-word (stretch) or 50,000-word (unicorn) book that is ready for release by the end of 2020.
HEART goal: To write a book that provides inspiration and encouragement to women and to enjoy the process by working with an author coach who can encourage, inspire and assist you to write the best book I can; creating a working environment that makes me feel good whenever I sit down to write; and recognising and appreciating both my progress as a writer and the progress of the book by rewarding myself when I reach each chapter milestone.
I did not travel alone in this uncharted territory – I hired a coach. My author coach, Candice Davis
has been an amazing and consistent source of support, stretching my writing and helping me navigate doubt and comparison to writers whose work I admire so much… she kept reminding this is book #1 and that no book begins brilliantly – editing is the key.
I set up a routine – 6am up, short meditation, then free writing which I then read aloud, recording in the fab app Otter.ai which was then transcribed and I turned into the foundation for my chapters.
I took myself away on a personal retreat to edit the book once the first draft was complete. I knew I was unlikely to manage this feat when I was immersed I my everyday commitments. The focus and flow I experienced when I was ensconced in the wee air b&b cottage I hired was fabulous.
I accepted imperfect action and handed it over to my Book Production Manager, Bev Ryan to take the project reins and moved into marketing mode.
And now? I’m allowing myself to get a wee bit excited and adding this achievement to my own Fabulous File!
And now what? Please pop over to the Book pre-order page and share your details and we’ll send you a link to purchase a physical or kindle version just as soon as it’s available!
“We’ve been taught that thin = happy” says Leanne, “and that fads work and there is some perfect or right way to eat”. The trouble is none of this is true! Restriction is not sustainable. A punishment mindset is not sustainable. What is sustainable is trusting ourselves, following our instincts, eating for the joy and love of food!”
It’s a relief to chat with Leanne, a health and wellbeing coach for women who is based in Melbourne and encourages women to redefine wellness, what it actually means for you to be a Well Woman. This is a conversation that will get you thinking, moving and eating!
Show Notes
It’s time to design your own Wellness Map – a set of ideas that fit you personally instead of you generically.
What ways of moving bring you joy? Do that. What feels nourishing to eat for you? Eat that. What role will fun play in your life? Enjoy that!
How you can lean into trusting yourself and your instincts and choices? By listening to your body and doing what it tells you! It does speak to you, regularly, it’s just that we’ve been programmed not to listen to what it has to say
Try not to label yourself as a “stress eater” or a “comfort eater” – you might find yourself living up to the label
Check in with your someone to help find your blind spots (mine was how the “go hard or go home” value I’d inherited was leading to significant self-sabotage in the health arena)
Spring clean those beliefs! Ask yourself, is it true? Is it mine? Where did it come from?

Samantha has been a performer her whole life – “I sang for 50 cents at weddings and a dollar at funerals from when I was a little girl. I sang backup for MC Hammer and with Joan Sutherland at the Australia Opera. I’ve led shows and developed my own. I’ve always been happiest on a stage but I’ve also been stuck in “people pleaser and approval” mode and that’s taken its toll. It even lead me to dropping the dream of being a performer for the “sensible” career option of accounting on the behest of my family. Over the years Sam invested so much time and energy checking, testing, showing different pieces of herself to different groups to fit in and be seen in the way she felt she needed to be. It was exhausting. And when this is your focus, you begin to lose track of who you really are. But Sam has now interrupted this cycle. She chose to shift her gaze, to weave all the pieces of her into a whole. She began to approve of herself and appreciating where she’d come from, so she would never need to fit in anywhere again.
She has proactively created a new stage for her life, one where confidence and charisma intersect. She truly belongs and it’s extraordinary.
Show Notes
You can break free of the conditioning of your past and chose a new path forward
Firmly reject the “don’t be too big for your boots” judgments that might be levelled at you. Choose to shine.
Confidence is not ego. It’s about how you feel within yourself.
Charisma is about your ability to influence and there are 4 types – Kindness (Dalai Lama), Visionary (Steve Jobs) Focused (Oprah) and Authority (Churchill)
How do you tap into Charisma when you’re just not feeling it? Mindfulness, deep breathing, visualisation and a clear focus on those you want to help be the best they can be. Imagine yourself pulling on your coat of charisma!
Perfectionism can paralyse you – perfect is the enemy of good. Let it go and embrace spontaneity (this was a core understanding that came from Sam’s “365 Days of Facebook Live when she had to quieten her internal dialogue, put aside the spreadsheet of carefully planned content went out the window and replace it with authenticity).
Have the courage to discover that all you need in inside of you – you just need to take a small risk, unlock yourself for that confidence to begin to flow…because what you focus on grows

We’re feeling the shift. It’s time for a return, or is that actually a start, of what many have referred to as “the new normal”. Borders are reopening. Gatherings are starting again. We’re remerging from one of the most unexpected and challenging times for business owners and individuals and you may be asking yourself, is it “business as usual? Do I simply market in the same ways I was before?”. Kellie O’Brien and I got together to chat about the emerging trends were seeing in the market and with our own clients and would like to share our observations to add to yours.

Many businesses adapted their way of being, identifying new opportunities, pivoting to online – are there changes you’ll be making?
Some business owners (like me) have, on reflection, found they were previously “addicted to busy” and are now deciding on a new approach
Consistent strategy and captivating storytelling are still in style, and always will be
The most important action you can take is to listen to your clients and what they’ve been experiencing – focus on being interested, not interesting
Develop full cycle relationship marketing – clearly considered and value adding steps from first connection to your offer of service

You will probably have heard about the Know, Like and Trust factor, the KLT in business. All three of these things are incredibly important. But I have found there is something even more important and it needs to come first. This is the Seen, Heard and Understood factor, the SHU, if you like. I believe this is the most important thing you can focus on. It’s about getting off you and getting more into the shoes of these people that you're here to serve. And the magic is, when you focus on providing value, transparency and authenticity when you focus on being interested rather than on being interesting, when the members of your community do feel seen, heard and understood, they tend to like and trust you!
This episode unpacks this approach more for you. Show Notes
The SHU Factor is enhanced by:
Narrowing your focus to deepen your impact – when you focus on a particular slice of the market, you are better equipped to meet them where they are at, developing a deeper understanding of what they are experiencing
Practicing active listening and deep questions – listen more than you talk, reflect and check for understanding
Revisit your why – reconnect with the who and why you are doing what you do
Check the copy and messaging on your website, ensuring you avoid the “Three Little Pigs” syndrome of it’s all about “me, me, me”. Swap this out for inclusive, inviting and empathetic messaging instead.
Seek deeper, leisurely conversations with people in your audience - coffee dates, as I call them. Explore “what would be most useful for you”?. Take notes, check understanding, utilise their language in your copy.
All great change begins when you’re thinking is challenged – COVID 19 is a great unknown, it’s provided a non-optional pause for great slices of the world and for many of us this space has allowed contemplation – what might change as we move forward again?
My own musing was significantly expanded when I was introduced to an essay by Charles Eisenstein, a graduate of Yale University with degrees in economics and philosophy (a most unusual combination, so it’s perhaps not surprising that his writing is both ground-breaking and thought-provoking in many ways).
You can read The Coronation Essay here ( https://charleseisenstein.org/essays/the-coronation/) .
Charles is also a social philosopher focusing on themes of human cultural evolution, economics and consciousness, and the author of many books including Climate a new story and Sacred Economics, The More Beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
My good friend, author and Purpose Proponent, Carolyn Tate, was also an enthusiast reader and when we were comparing notes, we knew there was a deeper conversation to be had.
And so here it is… we hope it inspires you to have a conversation about what changes are now waiting for you in Your Next Chapter too.
“You’re an active creator”, Angela Philp tells us. “You can take the circumstances facing you and shape them for yourself”. Self-Leadership is the key – what’s the seemingly impossible you want to make possible?
A dynamo of energy, fierce focus and commitment, Angela has found her passion and focus in life – “I believe that women need to make have 50% of the decision making capacity in this world”. To further that vison, Angela supports and challenges high achieving women with similarly big visions to take action on their dreams.
She is remarkable. And our conversation will energise and inspire you into your own new possible.

The discussion continues in the Your Next Chapter Community - come and join us!
In this episode, we explore how you might be self-sabotaging yourself by asking the wrong questions.
Your brain is a meaning-seeking machine and so when you pose questions, it will happily supply answers to you. If the questions you ask create disempowering answers, they become roadblocks that can keep you stuck in discontent and results that are far from delightful!
Once you recognise this tendency, you can change it, asking better quality questions that are expansive and supportive and help you to move around self-sabotage and into growth.
Show Notes
The first step towards asking better questions is to recognise that you have a result in your business and life that is not what you desire. This self-awareness opens the door to change.
Underneath the result is a behaviour, and that action, of lack of action, is created by your feelings. The questions you ask yourself can be empowering and expansive, leading to positive feelings and actions or they can be disempowering and reductive, creating roadblocks that you may not even be aware of.
Debbie Ford summed this up perfectly - "Questions supply you with the wisdom you need to make what was previously unconscious, conscious so that you can choose with all the power that comes from being fully aware."
If you've recognised the need for change, let''s start with the conversations you have with yourself! Try flipping your questions:
Now that you're opening up to more positive questions and answers, make and commit to the decision to change and then take a single action today in the new direction to get the ball rolling.
The key example in today's episode focused on my client who wants to be more visible online for her business growth, but there is an endless selection of possibilities that you can develop better questions, and choices, for.
I love the ten questions that Debbie Ford poses, and here they are for you:
The discussion continues in the Your Next Chapter Community - come and join us!
Deciding what to charge for your services can sometimes create confusion and tension! In this episode, I walk you through some of the key considerations when setting your prices to make the experience a little easier.
Whilst there is no magic formula to reach an answer, as each business is so very personal, there is guidance to help you make a decision and there is always opportunity to change your pricing when you’ve had feedback from your market.

Is the ability to handle change well to grab opportunities when they present themselves to you an inherited personality trait or is it more like a muscle, something that you can build with experience and time? My guest today, Joe Hanlon has her fair share of handling change. She's moved through careers and industries and has now landed in a place that feels really aligned with her sense of purpose in this next chapter of her life.
"Change, cultures and conversations" they've always been a part of my life, they've been woven together in many adventures!"
Jo's story is one with many chapters, with forays from nursing to sales and self-employment across countries and continents. The environments may have changed, but the focus never did - "My purpose is to help people develop their own strengths, and I love to work with people who want to change and I made the leap into self-employment at 48 to embrace more impact, significance and contribution"
Our conversation is anchored in the concepts of self-trust, values and our ability to empower ourselves for the changes that a full and expansive life delivers.
Some of the Key Ideas discussed include:
Why you need a Fabulous File
Understanding and taking control of your internal dialogue is one of the most powerful skills you can develop as a business owner. Your thinking creates your feelings and your feelings create your actions or inactions, which then lead to your results. But sometimes simply grabbing hold of your thoughts is just not enough to turn them around.
I believe we often need something more tangible when self-doubt comes to visit. You need a Fabulous File. I believe this is essential for every single woman who wants to create an impact, who wants to make a difference, who has a contribution inside of her that's being channeled through the lens of business.
In this episode, I'm going to explain what a Fabulous file is, why it's so important, and how you can actually get started on creating one today.
How do you get started? 1. Set aside some time – I guarantee you will find yourself disappearing down a rabbit hole of memory gazing... in a good way. 2. Purchase a box that delights you – even consider decorating it if you are creatively minded 3. Don’t restrict yourself to just testimonials – good feelings are transferable – where else have you been fabulous in life? Where have you been brave? Where have you stepped out of your comfort zone>? Where have you stepped up and reached a goal or done something you dreamed about?
What can you include? Here are some suggestions:
The fuel for this fire is never-ending and the lift begins to happen from the moment you begin your search for the evidence…
Late last year, I started feeling a little bit disconnected from my work. I was lacking a deep sense of purpose.
I think we can have a love affair with our business. And just like with any relationship, our feelings can fluctuate. Sometimes we can disagree, and not feel quite so close.
When I actually paused and had a look at why that was happening, I realised a likely reason was that I hadn’t actually articulated my purpose, my vision, my mission for my business in a really clear and tangible way. It was in my head, and it was definitely in my heart, but I hadn’t actually put it out on paper and put it in front of me where I could reconnect to it every day.
We all have wobbly days in business, some really challenging times when things are not flowing the way you anticipated. You can be feeling disappointed, invisible, and wondering, is this all worth it, asking yourself why you’re actually doing this at all.
It’s when you have these days that you want to be able to turn back to your purpose, your vision and your mission, to remember why it is that you're doing what you do. In this episode, I'm sharing a simple framework that will allow you to easily create your own along with three great examples from my clients.
Why do you need these statements?
Purpose keeps you anchored on the bad days We all have wobbly days in business, some really challenging times when things are not flowing the way you anticipated. You can be feeling disappointed, invisible, and wondering, is this all worth it, asking yourself why you’re actually doing this at all.
It’s when you have these days that you want to be able to turn back to your purpose, your vision and your mission, to remember why it is that you’re doing what you do. That’s when you can re-energise, reconnect, refocus because there it is right in front of you. You can take a great big deep breath, remind yourself of the bigger picture, pull yourself up out of your funk up and keep on moving forward.
Your Vision and Mission provide a filter for decision making In this context, it means that when an opportunity presents itself, you can ascertain if it actually is an opportunity, or if it’s actually a distraction, one of those bright, shiny options that’s masquerading as an opportunity.
When you have your purpose, vision and mission statements right in front of you, you can look at the opportunity, you can hold it up against these and ask yourself, “does this take me closer to that vision? Is it aligned with my purpose? Does it fit with my mission, or does it not”?
Having this filter so that you can make these decisions and choices more easily is invaluable. It keeps you on the path to make sure that you actually gaining traction, not just taking action. When you have clarity on your destination, it’s much easier to identify the path that takes you there.
You can share how you stand for something deeper than just what you sell Standing for something bigger than just what you sell is such a core part of our next chapter businesses. At this stage of life in particular, I, and 99.9% of the women that I support, have this real desire for our businesses to have true meaning. It’s this desire to leave a legacy, a feeling that you’ve contributed something of significance to the world.
My core service is Business and Life Mentoring for women in their 40’sand beyond and I deliver this through one to one programs, Masterminds, VIP Days and Retreats. That’s pretty standard in the market, I’m really not alone here.
But why do I do it? What’s underneath the service itself? That’s where my purpose and vision kick in. What I really stand for and believe in sets me apart:
To connect women with their self-worth so they can take consistent, confident action on their business and life goals.
I stand for women truly recognising, claiming and owning their value, especially at this time in our lives when we may have lost connection with that deep worth because of how we’ve been socialised and because we’ve often focused on other people’s needs for a long time.
A compelling purpose can allow people to resonate and connect with you, to want to come on the journey with you. Or conversely, it can actually help them recognise that you’re not such a good fit, and that is just as important. You don’t need to convince and convert people, rather it’s all about contributing and communicating.
Purposeful Marketing Messaging Once you have this clarity, you can share your purpose, vision and mission, right through the copy on your homepage, on your about page, across your social platforms, on your podcast in your videos. Weaving in your thoughts really gives people a great sense of connection. Congruent messaging across your platforms reinforces your positioning.
Now you can see the importance of having these statements, let’s look at how you actually create them.
You can download the exercise here.
We’re in the first months of a whole new decade, not just a new year, and you may have created some big goals that you want to achieve in business and life in this new chapter.
When reflecting on where I’m at, I realised that the end of this decade I'll actually be in my 60s, and so I decided that now is the time to become the best version of me.
That means in a business sense, I have some very clear plans for how I want to create more impact and be more supportive of my audience and my clients, and that’s going to demand sustained energy. And so this means ensuring I have the fitness and flexibility to do the things that I want to do.
I was away with my family in the second week of January on holiday, and this is where I really started to recognise that changes needed to be made.
I set some clear goals and then reflected on what I’d need to set myself up to achieve them and that’s what this episode is about - the core steps I believe we need to take to give any strong intention a greater chance of coming to fruition, whether it be a business or life goal.

Jodie Preiss is also a woman of resilience, compassion and vision and she has a great, big heart. I say that Next Chapters are often built on skinned knees, and Jodie is a definite example of this truth because those challenges she’s navigated, they’re actually more akin to lacerated knees.
But, yes, she has come through to the other side, and as you no doubt know when we have space between the then and the now, there are valuable lessons to process and share, new insights and perspectives gained that can often form the foundations of a new vision. That’s exactly what has happened with Jodie, and her new business, Collective Ripples, is set to become a movement we can all be a part of.
Some of the key ideas we discuss include
Don’t compare your challenges with anyone else’s. We all have our own journey.
The desire to create legacy can often grow after significant, life-changing experiences and the examples left by people we love and admire.
Be a great custodian of your energy – go gently, gently and gradually build your vision so it, and you, are sustained and sustainable
“Individually we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean”, is a quote to live by! We need not work alone, dream alone, take action alone.
"Whenever someone has asked me about the difference I wanted to make, for years I have joked “I want to change the world”. And that dream still exists. However, I recognise, that I can also change the world, by changing myself, and by helping individuals to change themselves along the way as well.
Self-doubt flares for me when I’m tired, or particularly busy with life, and don’t get to spend time with my vision for Collective Ripples. I am much more adept at recognising it these days, and so take a break. Do a meditation. Or spend time in nature. Then, I make sure that I set myself some really easily achievable small goals, so that I am able to recognise and celebrate my achievements and progress.
Women in our 40’s and beyond make fabulous entrepreneurs because we have lived. And we have lost. And through all of that, we are able to discern what is truly important.
What do you stand for?
It’s an important question to ponder.
Write your manifesto with an open heart and mind. Be curious. Explore what’s important to you, what you stand for, believe and want for your clients, and for the world.
Keep it private to inspire and motivate yourself or share it far and wide to inspire and motivate others, to create connection to begin conversations.
I’ve had a manifesto from another website up on my wall for quite some time. It feels rather fabulous to now have my own.

What I believe
Trained as a classical pianist in Music College in the UK in the 1980’s, Sarah was familiar with the demands of being on stage. Although she did experience performance anxiety, her determination initially allowed her to push through the stress. But the development of a significant skin disorder took the challenge of being seen to a whole new level and Sarah lost her nerve.
“Even after treatment had dramatically improved my skin, I still felt the audience was scrutinising me. I instinctively knew the only way out of this was to work on my public speaking, to address this fear. And so that’s where I placed my focus”.
Over time, Sarah’s amazing expansion was noticed by other professionals who began to ask “how did you do that?” and it became a natural move to begin to open to the entrepreneurial world. Today, Sarah continues to run a very successful Speaking Consultancy and helps an enormous number of people overcome their own fears and develop their skills and, in our conversation,, she shares many of the valuable insights that helped her with her gradual transition into a very different Next Chapter.

Post-Traumatic Stress is unfortunately, a term that many of us have heard about, but have you heard of it’s cousin, Post Traumatic Growth?
In this episode, Diane Lang observes how most of us have a story that has led us to the field of helping, just as I believe that next Chapters are often built on skinned knees. Diane has first-hand experience of overcoming emotionally challenging circumstances and thriving as a result and bringing her lessons into her work in the field of positive psychology. She has dedicated her career to helping people turn their lives around and is on a mission to help us develop a sustainable positive attitude that will have sweeping benefits to both your business and your life.

We live and work in such a hyper-visible and connected online world today. The windows and front door to our competitor’s businesses are wide open to us through their websites and social media platforms. And so we can find ourselves visiting all too often, obsessing over what services and programs they’re offering, how many comments they’re getting on their blogs and FB Lives, how many people are in their groups, what marketing activities they’re implementing and so on and so on…
Occasionally these surreptitious forays can be positively affirming as you benchmark yourself.
But in my personal experience, and in hearing the stories of dozens of clients, it’s far more common that these forays see you tumbling headfirst into The Comparison Trap. It’s a place I’ve often fallen into and that’s why I’ve created a 4 step approach to escaping it, quickly!
Show Notes
The Escape System brings in two modalities that I’ve found really useful – Acceptance Commitment Theory and the Emotional Freedom Technique.
Notice: Recognise the tension
Nourish: Take care of yourself with a self-compassion plan
In essence, the system is about awareness (notice and name) and action (neutralise and nourish).
Sometimes it doesn’t seem like we are choosing our Next Chapter. Rather, circumstances can thrust it upon you and we all can do is respond. And often, with the benefit of kindsight, we are able to see this was the best possible thing to happen for, rather then too, us!
That was Tracey’s experience when a company restructure changed the direction of her successful corporate career. She made good use of the outplacement services that were offered to her and recognised that there was a demand for her skill base, but it was the casual observation from her Dad that opened a new door
“How about you start your own thing?”.
Bissett Financial Fitness was the result, a business that provides Tracey with the opportunity to leverage all of her skills, make a real difference, escape her industry paradigm and control her own destiny to boot.
What’s not to love about a Next Chapter like that?

This week’s episode was inspired by a conversation I had where a client and I discovered the impact of what I call the Chameleon Effect. This is a phenomena that occurs when, for a variety of reasons, we have lost our own value anchors and find ourselves twisting and turning ourselves into a shape that reflects what we think the audience wants of us, whether that be in a job interview or a conversation with a potential new client.
It’s what happens when we fall into wanting to be seen and picked rather than recognised and selected and that’s not a great option for either party.

This week we’ve reached a milestone on the Your Next Chapter – the 100th episode!
It’s been an absolute delight to share the stories of so many wholehearted women from around the globe who have stepped into their own next chapters in business and life, to hear of their challenges and triumphs, fears and celebrations, lessons and insights.
To celebrate the achievement that 100 episodes represent, I stepped to the other side of the microphone to be interviewed by one of my lovely listeners – the fabulous Dr. Becky Quicke from the UK. We had an absolute ball recording this one for you and hope you enjoy it just as much.
And, of course, I look forward to sharing more stories with you as we go forward, along with more solo shows where I’m stepping up my own game to share more of my own insights, ideas, and perspectives with you. Take a moment to subscribe through the links below so you never miss an episode.

It’s a not unfamiliar feeling, to know you’re ready for change, but not to be sure exactly what that change might be…
And it’s what Bev Ryan felt when she hit her mid-forties and found herself yearning for a new direction. The opportunity to “do her own thing” was beckoning.
With a successful career as a High School Teacher in her toolkit, Bev started to explore her Next Chapter, inspired by the Barbara Sher book “I could do anything if I only knew what it was”. She dug down into her essence, identifying what she felt switched her on and excited her.
New chapters in self-publishing begun to emerge, firstly with her own magazines and then a metamorphosis into a Non-Fiction Book Coach and Publishing Consultant. Today, Bev works with professional service providers whose purpose for publishing is to highlight their expertise in a book, even when they’re not natural writers.
This is a vast and deep conversation ranging from Bev’s own journey to top tips for your own publishing adventure.

Like many of us, Carolyn admits to accidentally falling into her original career, rather than following a burning ambition. For over 30 years she thrived in the world of advertising agencies and even had her own successful agency in Sydney, her new home after London.
Even though Carolyn grew up with a strong social conscience, courtesy of her Mum, she felt that the commercial world of advertising and marketing and her own inner world and values didn’t mix so well. So she kept her client and personal work with organisations such as Amnesty International, separate.
But gradually, something began to shift, when she discovered the concept of Cause Marketing and a new opportunity emerged. Carolyn realised that she could align a brand with a cause that would deliver a positive social impact whilst also delivering commercially sound outcomes.
The Cause Effect is the result. A Next Chapter Business that beautifully blends Carolyn’s expertise and heart, helping business owners to unlock the full value of a social purpose brand strategy to energise their business

Sometimes happenstance dictates change to us, and that can feel terrifying. But many a Phoenix rises from the ashes.
You are sitting on a mountain of value that is unique to you – as Seth Godin says “if you’re not sharing your value, you are actually stealing!”
Doubt will rear its head as Imposter Syndrome – you work through this by being clear on your Mission and your Vision
The more strategically aligned your contribution is with your business and brand, the more impact you can make, the more you can leverage
The more you share your vision, the more you will attract people like you, as you differentiate yourself with emotional resonance
Nancy Collamer doesn’t believe in reinvention and thinks a focus on passions rather the purpose is more likely to provide the path to meaningful and fulfilling work.
Anita took a deep breath as we hit record on this episode saying, “All hail the truth!”. And hail that truth she did, sharing expansively about her career chapters from Radiographer to Project Manager to Co-owner to Sole Proprietor of an online Resort wear business to launching a Body Confidence Movement, whilst raising kids and moving 13 time as a Military Wife.
“We have to define success to us because our circumstances are unique to us. My business is deliberately small – if I’d tried to make it bigger with my lifestyle that would have led to just too much extra stress” she states, a sentiment I completely align with.
Too often we can be seduced by the lure of “success” showcased by others. We need to take stock of what stage we are at in our lives, what we value and what our personal goals and decide what we actually want before adopting any of those example for ourselves. Anita’s refreshingly open commitment to her own narrative opens the door for us to create our own Next Chapters exactly as we please!
Rachel has a passion, an absolute commitment to seeing women rise, to be seen, heard and valued. Her chapters of moving from Journalist to Mother to Business Owner have not been without challenges to her own confidence and visibility as she navigated the uncharted territory of role and identity transitions.
At a time when being idle is viewed negatively, and we are accustomed to filling every waking moment with activity Susan and her co-author explores why switching off, or at the very least, slowing down, is vital, if we are to live a life of fulfillment, which is what I believe we all want and deserve in our Next Chapter!
Your greatest potential is unleashed when you slow down. Do Less Be More reveals the science that explains why doing less is a bonafide strategy for achieving what you really want. We need to learn how to ban busy and focus on what really matters and I’ve discovered that having Vision clarity and awareness of our values and strengths really helps us to be discerning, to say no and embrace silence, space and solitude.
Donna Brown has always been deeply committed to helping people be the best they can be in her 30+ years of work in design, media and business. By digging below the surface, she has helped individuals and business leaders lean into purpose by honouring their interests, talents and natures and having them consciously decide “what do I want my life to look like”.
An upcoming milestone birthday and the contemplation that often brings, combined with a desire to integrate her spirittal practices more deeply with her work led Donna to developing The Walking Compassion Project, a personal pilgramage to the Camino Trail, carrying the collective troubles of 100,000 people in one symbolic stone, to be let go.
A journey at the pure intersection of contrbution and fulfilment, she knows the ripple effect of the project, externally and internally will be profound.
Ana Kazan is a specialist in Leadership Development theory and innovation with a 20-year background in journalism. She has a Masters in Communication, a PHD in International Self-Leadership and is the co-author of Self-Leadership – how to become a more successful, efficient and effective leader from the inside out.
That in and of itself is an impressive bio, but it hardly begins to scratch the surface of the deep core of Ana, a tremendously inspiring woman who has a bold story of tenacity and determination to share, as she resolutely pursued her own “Crazy Next Chapter Dream” of studying in America, writing and sending 100 letters of application before being accepted.
I’m sure you’ll be energised by this episode.
I’m finally back Podcasting after a long break! I know that for me time and space for creativity, consideration and relaxation is essential so that I can contribute at the highest level, and I have so much to share with you in 2019.
In this episode, I am introducing you to The Next Chapter Model of Change. I realised that within all of the interviews I have staged and in the mentoring sessions, masterminds and retreats I have facilitated there was a model of change I was seeing as women began or realigned their businesses.
And so I’m outlining the model for you so you anticipate what’s coming up or understand why and what you are feeling…
The model is also at the core of my book I’m in the midst of writing – perhaps you can be one of my accountability buddies for this major project!?
As the year draws to a close, we all look back at how things have gone. Unfortunately, we have a natural negativity bias built into our brains and thus, can then focus on what we didn’t achieve in the year, rather than what we did!
It ‘s important to reverse gap yourself evenly. Rare is the person who managed to hit all their goals in any given year. With all of the Masterminds I’ve facilitated, Retreats I have hosted and Mentoring Sessions I have held, I’ve been privy to an immense range of industries and individuals and what I’ve seen is that it’s common to over estimate what we can achieve in a year, and under estimate what we can achieve in three.
Clare Dea is the epitome of the entrepreneurial spirit in action from a young age. At the age of 8 when her Dad was retrenched and her ballet lessons needed to pause, Clare decided she would solve the problem. I asked myself “How can I make the money to pay for them?. My inner entrepreneur was born and I became a busker for the next 8 years, generating the fund to pay for my lessons, my school books and more!”
Alison has had an enduring love affair with books since she was a little girl and so when it came time to choose a career, faced with the options of becoming a Ballerina or Lawyer or moving into Publishing, it was an easy choice!
“I was entering the world of publishing as the age old rules were changing and the industry was being disrupted and eventually being cast into crisis, so as you can imagine, it was demanding. But I loved it - the creative and commercial combination was so satisfying. I got to make books!”
Jo has always been drawn to creating community, fascinated by helping people to connect with a social purpose. Back when she was much younger, this commitment was played out with starting Barbie and Penfriend Clubs and a desire for her own magazine. “I just wanted to have a club, with members and it’s only now that I look back that I can connect the dots between what I was doing then and what I’m doing now!”
“I’ll help you build relationships rather than just a network” is how Robbie Samuels describes his core business focus, a passion that was inspired by his own experience in Boston, “not the friendliest of cities”.
“Before starting my own speaking, coaching and consulting business, I was involved in the fundraising industry and the Meetups I started grew to hundreds of events and thousands of members. The key to their success was helping people to understand and embrace a Host mentality”, explains Robbie.
It’s not everyday I get to speak with a self-confessed “misfit entrepreneur” who willingly admits that “becoming an entrepreneur was never a part of my game plan”, and Kate Toon is no everyday woman!
Kate is well known as a Search Engine optimisation lover (and we cheerfully demystify SEO and give you loads of practical actions you can take in this conversation), a Copywriting mentor, a Speaker, Podcaster, Author and Hula Hooper… but she is also a card carrying member of the “Debunking Entrepreneurial Myths Society”, dedicated to banning clichés and stereotypes of what it actually takes to achieve “success” in business.
“A well written article can be transformational for your readers”, says Sean D’Souza, the founder of Psychotactics. “It has the power to educate, inform and entertain and with a good structure at your fingertips, you can overcome the myth of writers block, the myth of it’s all been said before and the myth that it’s a difficult skill to master and create impactful articles that connect you, your ideas your business and your clients”.
Leanne O’Sullivan has spent more than 18 years immersed in the online space, firstly as the co-founder of agency Big Blue Digital, then adding her own off-shoot, Summit School with Leanne O.
She has seen the online world change considerably in that time and has developed a streamlined approach to developing a digital ecosystem that helps you to become clear, calm and consistent online, side stepping overwhelm and maximising the outcomes of your investment of time, energy and budget.
You need to be visible to have an impact and make a difference with Your Next Chapter Business. You may have exactly what someone need to close the gap they have. But if they can’t find you, they can’t be exposed to your solutions, your stories and your experience.
So it’s time to create a simple Visibility Plan that leverages your skills and meets your Most Aligned Clients where they are.
Suzy’s story of gradually moving ever closer to her sweet spot of purpose will likely sound familiar. A definite deep desire to follow a certain path, but an initial lack of self-belief hits the pause button and then life itself intervenes and a detour takes place.
Carol spent 27 years as a journalist before morphing into a PR specialist. But she never quite settled in the industry, although she was talented and by all measurements, a great success. A PR role at the UN opened a new door for her and she discovered, and fell in love with, the world of Fundraising. “I believed what I was writing and speaking about – I felt proud”.
Like so many women who are also Mums, Cat had put her kids and husband first, right up the top of the Priority Totem Poll. Years were spent on the road delivering her elite sports kids to events, fundraising and on planes. She even home-schooled them towards the end of their high school years so they could juggle school and competing.
During the last five years in the corporate world, it became increasingly obvious to Tammy that she was not living her purpose.
A volunteer role at a women’s shelter in her spare time opened a new door where she discovered an absolute love of counselling and social work. This led to graduate study in Clinical Counselling and a now 20+ year career in this space.
“Liam, my 18 year old son, died on November the 5th, 2015. He had just taken his sister to the bus stop. He was worried about being late, he drove to fat, he lost control and he hit a tree. I lived for the next 15 months with a kernel of wishing it was all a bad dream. What sort of Mother was I, if I couldn’t keep my son safe?”
I’ve worked so hard since then to make my grief my guide, rather than a place where I wallow. I plunged into busy-ness. People saw this as strength. That was not my experience. It was a life-saving response. It was self-protection”.
After a career I banking that she “fell into”, and the significant life change that divorce often heralds, Carolyn stepped away from the corporate world and started her own marketing business. She quickly became well regarded in the small business marketing world, publishing “Small Business Marketing for Dummies” and “Small Business, Big Brand”, running workshops and consulting to a wide range of businesses.
From the earliest days of teenage angst, locked away in my bedroom journaling intensely, I seem to have been asking the question “what am I here for???”
I still check in with that question today. Quite regularly. But now, rather than seeking a lightening bolt of inspiration from the sky, I’m asking it to pivot, to stay on my path, to ensure I am aligned in my business and life.
And given the fact there are more than 135,000 searches on Google for “purpose” each month, it seems that I’m in good company. And so are you.
I believe our Next Chapter Businesses are very much at the intersection of contribution and fulfilment. We’re happiest when we are being of usefulness and value to others, using our unique talents, skills and life experiences to serve. When we feel light and energised, immersed in work that has meaning for us in a business that serves us just as much as it serves our clients.
This new series on the Your Next Chapter Podcast, Business and Life Beyond 40, explores Purpose, Passion and Reinvention through wholehearted conversations with women who have evolved, through choice or circumstance, to a new chapter in their working lives.
I hope that by listening into the stories they share about where they have been, where they are now and where they are going to, you’ll find both inspiration and satisfaction.
“I’d had my fair share of challenges and turning points” said Cas McCullough in our wholehearted conversation. “A life threatening ectopic pregnancy, divorce, children with health issues, work demands, business trials… It would be easy to stay in victim mode, but I prefer to be a survivor. And after all, drama and ups and down are all part of the human experience aren’t they?”.
And that attitude of acceptance, refocus and determination reflects the true core of Cas. She is a shining example of making the decision to choose to smile. To shrug off stories of doubt and intimidation. To choose not to listen to the mind chatter that can try and defeat you. To keep taking action and moving, staying focused on the impact you want to make, not the fears that want to unmake you.
If you’ve ever felt that the road to your own Next Chapter has more than a few bumps and detours, you’ll find both solace and inspiration in this episode that has led Cas to being the founder and CEO of a innovative tech startup, Writally, that cuts the time it takes to create an original blog post.
A passionate focus on making a difference and a contribution with Your Next Chapter Business is so very important. At this stage of life, that feeling of fulfilment and significance is vital – soul food even. But even the most passionate of business owners would soon feel deflated if they did not have actual clients to work with!
I’ve heard the lament so often – “if someone else could just take care of the marketing so I can just focus on doing what I love – the actual service, that would be heavenly”. Heck, even I feel that way some days and I’m a marketer by trade!
We both know the truth. Client Attraction and subsequently generating cashflow is essential for our business growth. And that means taking action. Consistently.
But the news is good! You can design your business model to complement your skills and preferred way of working and you can also choose the marketing activities that align with you and meet your potential clients where they are. You can be of high service whilst marketing, providing valuable and useful resources and experiences. You can have wholehearted sales conversations that are “elegant invitations to transformation”. Nothing about client attraction needs to be out of alignment with your values or feel manipulative, pushy or uncomfortable. It does often mean you need to develop new skills or make changes to experience success but hey, you’re a life long learner, aren’t you?
In this episode Kellie O’Brien, Kristy Smith and I discuss what we’ve learned, adopted, changed and introduced into our business models and lead generation strategies as we and our businesses have evolved over the years.
Many of us think about how we can make a tangible difference in the world. We read about so many wonderful people who, upon seeing a need, make the decision to do something about it. They step up and give back selflessly and inspire others to do the same.
Liz Davidson is one such woman and I am delighted and honoured to know her, and to be in her support team – she has been a part of my Next Chapter Success Circle Masterminds since the beginning of 2017. Liz had a burning desire to have a positive impact on women in crisis and she channeled her considerable energy and compassion into creating Our Kitchen Table, a charitable organisation located in the heart of Melbourne, Australia.
As a part of the Mastermind program, Liz has personal business mentoring calls with me and she has kindly agreed to have her latest session aired on the Podcast so that other businesswomen who are also building their own enterprises can listen in to the challenges and triumphs she is experiencing, knowing these insights we share will help. This is another example of her commitment to supporting women and I am sure you will be inspired and empowered by tapping into just a small part of the progress she had made and her action plans for the future.
Barbara Huson (nee: Stanny) grew up wealthy. Her Father was the R in the famous H&R Block who impressed upon her the unspoken assumption that she could always “let a man take care of you”. This perspective had a significant impact of her life, allowing the belief that “money was not her thing” to influence her thoughts, actions and…. inaction.
"I know now that I was largely unconscious in my 20’s. I was simply living, like most of us do. And then I was plunged into the abyss at 32 when my partner died, everything changed. I was in therapy for a year. I moved away from the city to be near the water. I slowly began to piece myself together; I began to emerge form the cocoon I had spun around myself to heal. And I can see that who I became was forged in that fire”.
As the end of 2017 draws ever nearer, we need to take the time to review our year, to consider what went well, what didn’t go quite as planned and what you will continue, change, let go of and introduce for the new year.
In my Mastermind end of year review sessions, we talk about how the year can deliver curve balls, medicine balls and wrecking balls – in all, it seldom goes exactly as you envisaged!
What is vital is your ability to reflect and extract the learning’s from your experiences, to tune into your heart and make some choices about how you’d like to show up in 2018.
And so this audio training walks you through some of the key steps to do just that and it comes complete with a copy of my slides from the webinar this audio is drawn from and the workbook attendees received to complete – to turn their ideas into action.
“I’ve realised why women are often not as successful in business as they can be” says Louise Laffey. “There’s such a battle going on between the push and pull energies. We live in a modern world where there is such financial pressure and our heads tell us to work towards that definition of success, but our hearts are just not happy.
Emma and Audrey literally had one of those classic “eyes meeting across a crowded room” moments many years ago when they were both at a Coach Training event in Melbourne.
When her coach told Karen that “it was obvious she wanted to start her own business”, even though she knew it was true, she froze.
She knew she was unhappy. An accountant by trade, her 25 year career had brought a great deal of success, but she had changed and so had the company she worked for. She knew she wanted more but the risk of letting go of a regular, lucrative paycheck was scary. And so for 2 years she stayed. Until the uncomfortability of an unrealised dream become too much to sit with.
Leanne O’Sullivan has been a business owner for over 18 years and, as you can imagine, has seen the digital landscape expand and change considerably in that time.
“I’ve found that the small business journey, whilst immensely rewarding, is not for the faint-hearted. Babies and small children at your feet whilst growing a business? Not recommended! And Motherguilt? That’s a fierce emotion we all experience to a degree.
But I’ve realised if you stay aligned with your values and understand you don’t need to “toughen up” to do well in business, you actually need to soften, and I’m now fully opening into my Next Chapter.
The first step into Sarahs Next Chapter came when her children, a daughter, and twin boys, were born within a short period of time.
“I needed to leave, as my then husband was traveling a lot and it was just not feasible for two corporate careers to coincide. But even though I did make the choice, I struggled with the loss of identity. It took me some time to let go of what had been. Since then, I’ve had many chapters!"
I believe that having a strong “Circle of Support” – practices to help you stay physically, emotionally and spiritually buoyant and connections, community and mentoring to build your mindset and boost your growth, is a vital part of your Next Chapter journey.
How do you see your personal brand? How do others perceive you? How can you align the two for Brand Clarity? Ten years ago is when the journey began… illness, major surgery, divorce and the need to take care of 3 young boys on her own, this Next Chapter had a tough beginning for Jenny. “How an I earn a living and maintain my sanity without a safety net” was the biggest question that she needed to address.
Emma had always been drawn to making the world more beautiful. As an artist in Switzerland she taught adults how to paint and completed commissions for her own clients as she raised her children. But when her family moved to Sydney the door to her Next Chapter as flung wide open in ways she could not have imagined.
The GFC hit hard the family hard, as her husband was in the financial industry. Emma found herself needing to transform her hobby and skills into a business entity that could contribute at a higher level. Once she moved through what she described as the “middle class taboo”, the experience of admitting and accepting that “the system” of comfort she had known was no longer available, she took a deep breath, focused, and began to explore how she could generate income in a sustainable way.
“I started by looking at how I could transfer my current skills into a new endeavor. I knew the key was to create something useful, something that was really needed by people. My first Next Chapter. Bespoke Chairs, was delightful and I even won a Pitch Fest in Silicon Valley with my concepts, but the reality was it wasn’t generating enough income so I went back the drawing board.
I wrote out my Perfect Day as a business owner, how I really wanted to work and who with, and that helped me to identify what I did not want – which is the starting point for any new endeavor!”.
And on the heels of that discovery, helped along by research and awareness in Facebook Groups, Bespoke Backdrops was born.

With a background in journalism – “serious” journalism, Karenna never expected the flavour and focus of her eventual Next Chapter to encompass helping women to find love and improve their relationships. She enjoyed the challenge of news journalism, was enticed by broadcasting and was anchored in the value of tangible success by her academic family.

“I loved it until I didn’t anymore” is the way Shelli described her feelings about her corporate career with Proctor and Gamble. By all measurements it had been a very successful experience, with Shelli rising to the top with her leadership, project management, event planning and teaching skills. But it was time for a change. Her own Next Chapter was looming and so she began to lay the foundation for her new direction 2 years before she actually took early retirement at 52.
A lifetime of chronic pain subsided when Kristen discovered Pilates and this incredible experience opened the door to what she knows is her life’s’ work - “helping people to enjoy being in their body” as they bring Pilates into their everyday life for strength, flexibility and longevity.
It was testing the concept of mini experiments out for herself that helped Nikki Smith to truly understand the power of starting small, going slow and trying on a next chapter for size before fully committing, boots and all.

In 2009 Brenda and her family arrived in Tasmania from South Africa. It was a dream come true, a breath of fresh air, a safe haven and the opportunity to start afresh after a corporate career.
But it was also a shock.
“I not very domesticated, and didn’t do well in captivity” laughed Brenda when we spoke. “And to be honest, I felt as though I had lost my identity. I was no longer the Corporate High Achiever. So who was I? I had no job in this new city, was a stay at home Mum for the first time in a very long time and I wanted, needed, to contribute. And so the journey into redefining myself began”.
Brenda’s ‘Phoenix moment” revealed itself when she was googling “work from home” and the amongst all of the results, the topic of coaching came up. She realise that she wanted to be coached, to help her find a new path forward. The door opened, the dots connected and not long after, Brenda found herself travelling to Melbourne completing Certificate 4 in Coaching.
Today Brenda provides a powerful blend of business and life coaching with a core message of the importance of developing “The Courage to Bloom” to a growing community of women in Australia and around the world.

Just over 30 yeas ago Lynn Robinson arrived at the funeral of a friend and heard a voice telling her to “please sit here”, beside a woman that she did not know. She took her seat, but when she looked around to thank the speaker, there was no one physically there.
In a beautiful example of divine timing, universal support and the importance of following your intuition, the conversation that followed threw open the door to a wonderful new world for Lynn. She responded to the simple question of what do you do, with what she truly desired to be - “I’m an Intuitive Reader” rather than the actuality of her current situation, “Project Manager at a Software Firm”. The woman asked to book a reading and ended up sharing the experience with her audience – she was a writer for the local paper. Over 500 enquiries flowed through to Lynn’s fledging business over the next month.
She never looked back and a flourishing, deeply rewarding career has been the result.

Angella Johnson did all the right things in her business. She followed the formula. Took on board the advice. Implemented like crazy. Soared past the coveted six figures and then some… From the outside looking in you’d think everything was fabulous. But feelings of heaviness and obligation were her reality and burn out and dissatisfaction were the results and she knew there had to be another way.
One day Angella asked herself “If I trusted myself, what would I choose here?” And when she truly listened for and opened to her answers – not anyone else’s, the world opened up again.
In one of the most energetic and connected conversations I’ve had on this Podcast, Angella shares her perspective on coaching – “empowering people to find their own truth” and the journey she took from following the formula to trusting herself.

Penney was, in her own words, “terrified” when she left her corporate job, wondering how on earth she would ever be paid again. That’s a familiar feeling for many of us who step out into a whole new world when we leave the security of a weekly paycheck behind. It wasn’t easy at first, but Penney soon began to realise that trial and error and the courage to say yes to opportunities even when she was not entirely sure she had all the answers were the keys to growth and confidence.
“I was so happy to realise that the things I’d done in my 20’s, 30’s ad 40’s, none of them had been wasted, it’s all connected and every single experience I had has been of value for my business and life today”

Larissa Halls from Everyday Inspiration and I catch up for our monthly wholehearted conversation where we focus in on juicy topics in the areas of Mindset, Motivation, Psychology and more…. This month we dig down into the fallacy of there being a specific timetable for business growth and success that we all need to follow. We’re keen to dispel this myth and reassure you that in Your Next Chapter you get to define what the path looks like for you!

It was a slow wake up, a resurfacing for Veronica. A growing realisation that she was no longer willing to follow other people’s agendas or help to build other people’s dreams. Although her career to date had been fulfilling and impactful and definitely successful by any means of measurement, it was time for change. It was her turn. Her time to create the business that was calling her.
And there was a deeper realisation too. A readiness to embrace the truth that true joy had left many years prior, when her young daughter passed away. Emotions had been pushed down that needed to be brought to the surface and expressed.
It was time for transformation, in all its forms! The quest for wholeness began.

Colleen Darby has always been an artist but at a young age she was told that she “needed to earn a living” and so her artistic talent and dreams were put on the back shelf. But strong dreams often have a way of staying around and years later, when her Marketing Director position was rocked by a significant pay cut, she had dinner with her husband and spoke that dream out loud again.
Not long later she was an Artist in Residence at a hospital, a next chapter in a long and richly rewarding creative story that still continues today.
In 2013 at 50, when her child left for college, and with a personal experience of living through cancer, a painting sabbatical and a new project beckoned… and she responded. Colleen remembered a time when she was an Artist in Residence when a stray comment “such a beautiful day outside” was met with a sad “I wouldn’t know, it always looks the same from here” from the patient. This memory fuelled her passion project - LandEscapes Painting Series - A View for a Room: Transforming Healthcare Spaces.
A powerful, transformative journey has been the result, a journey that also involved a cancer diagnosis that ultimately deepened her commitment to her project, changing Colleen, her business, the healthcare industry and the lives of a great many patients and their families her come into daily contact with her art.

One of the “secret weapons” of my business and life is Larisa Halls from Everyday Inspiration. Larissa has helped me work through many of the mindset challenges that inevitably pop up when you are committed to expansion and her insights, provocative questions and ability to facilitate deep self-awareness and change over time has been invaluable.

We’ll range across a myriad of topics when we get together, sharing our own experiences and exploring common themes and new ideas, and welcome your questions too. In todays episode, we talk about setting the “right” goals – what does that mean for you?

February is the new January in my world! Or at least that’s the way it has been in 2017… I’ve begun the year a little later than usual and, rather than default to my old patterns of berating myself over what I haven’t done, I’m choosing to embrace what I have and what I will instead. And that means leaning into intuition in 2017 and making some changes.
The beauty of having your own Next Chapter business that is often a personal brand is the fact that you get to design, refine and realign it to fit you. That’s the entrepreneurial freedom that is so often referred too. Not necessarily the “laptop lifestyle” where you get to work from anywhere in the world, but the simple ease and joy of making the choices that light you up and serve your clients and community too.
And so, after a lengthy “time out” over Christmas and new year, prioritising my family and the changes that are happening in our dynamic, I’m delighted to be back to Podcasting and anticipating a wonderful year ahead! I’m sharing some of the upcoming changes within the Next Chapter Community in this weeks episode as well as some shared wisdom about glass and rubber balls…

It’s It’s that time of the year isn’t it? The time were we begin to reflect on the year that has been and looking forward to the year that will be.
The questions politely sit in the back of your mind and wait for your attention. They may be patient, but they’re persistent little suckers and won’t leave you alone until you give them the time they want and need.
They’ll be quite personal and unique for each of us, but in essence we’re wondering.
I’m in exactly the same boat right now. Considering, questioning, evaluating, comparing, wondering, thinking… and in this weeks episode I share my experiences of 2016 with you, the pain and the growth, the rule breaking and the letting go, the gratitude and the new intentions. I encourage you to gently, with self-compassion and optimism, regard your year behind and the one waiting for you to step into…

Katherine Hann started life with a huge advantage – an extraordinary role model. Her Mother was one of just 3 women in a class of 80 when she attended University in the 1950’s and she always told Katherine “anything is possible, you just have to try and it doesn’t matter if you don’t get there the first time, keep going”.
Those sage words provided a guiding light for Katherine as she moved through her own career from a Lab Technician to Call Centre Manager, to customer service and sales to Management roles in the Hungry Jacks chain. She was always seeking, changing, excelling and moving, not tied down by a particular plan, but always keenly aware of how each role appealed to her and when she needed more.
The chameleon in her began to set down the anchor for her next, and most rewarding, chapter when she had her “BBQ Moment”. A conversation with a friend, who became a Mentor, opened the door to the world of Financial Planning, a world that allowed Katherine to combine her love of travel with her deep affinity for helping people and natural aptitude for numbers.
In 2013 Affinity Financial Planning was born and Katherine has been empowering women with financial literacy ever since. Katherine was recognised in her field by winning the “Most Trusted Advisor in South Australia” in 2015 – clear evidence that she is most certainly in her zone of genius.
Every role you have had, every experience you have gathered readies you for Your Next Chapter… we just don’t always realise it at the time. I know you’ll enjoy this conversation.

Tara Mohr’s own Next Chapter began at the intersection of frustration and hope. Frustration that so many brilliant women could not see their own brilliance and were holding back from sharing their gifts with the world and the pain she could see that caused them, and hope that, when shown a way to change things, that more women would then step up and become the wise and compassionate leaders we are so capable of.
That’s when her model of Playing Big was born, forged from hundreds of conversations, thousands of coaching hours and her own personal experience in Corporate America where a woman’s voice was not always heard.
In this wholehearted conversation Tara and I explore some of the key themes in her book, of the same name and explore many ways in which you can connect with your own Inner Mentor to follow your callings, sidestep the perfectionism that can see you “designing at the whiteboard” for far too long, embrace feedback and let go of the pressure of creating success.
An inspiring conversation with an inspirational woman, Tara encourages us all to Play Big on our terms, and to step into a future that expresses and leverages our often hidden potential

Linda is a classic example of a woman who has evolved with curiosity and grace into her Next Chapter. It might initially be difficult to imagine someone with a background in “hard core strategic planning and consulting”, to use her words, transitioning into teaching, coaching and mentoring around the Law of Attraction, but Linda confidently shows us that anything is possible when you tune into your intuition and take baby steps in the direction that is calling you.
In this wholehearted conversation we explore key learning’s and insights from Linda’s own journey and discuss some of the ways in which you can tune into your own energy and awareness so you can begin to move in a new direction that’s right for you.

The most reassuring and empowering message I heard from Tanya Geisler in this most wholehearted conversation was “if you experience the Imposter Complex that means you’re high functioning with strong values of integrity and mastery”.
Because REAL imposters, actual frauds, they don’t feel self-doubt at all as they barge forward with low capabilities but high confidence!
But you, me and so many other women stepping into our next chapters, we can get ourselves trapped by perfectionism, leaky boundaries, people-pleasing and diminishing of our accomplishments. And when we do that, all roads lead to the Imposter Complex. It’s pervasive and demoralising.
So, what’s the solution? Good old-fashioned awareness. Once you are aware of your patterns you can disrupt them and make new choices. Talk to yourself in a new way. Open up and embrace healthy fear and keep moving steadily towards purpose and own your unquestionable authority in Your Next Chapter.
An amazing conversation, an inspiring woman, this is a recipe for your confidence and success as we unpack the 12 lies of the Imposter Complex and the 3 strategies to overcome them.

Karen Gunton is in her element right now, helping women to “build their lighthouses, and to shine their unique light brightly into the world”. Originally a teacher by trade, Karen has evolved over the years, changing not only professions, but countries, moving from Canada to Adelaide in South Australia. “When as I look backwards at the road so far and it gives me ideas about where I need to go next, but I often say that I accidentally started a business!. We can’t see everything that coming next, so we do need to accept it’s an evolution, a spiral, rather than a straight line”.
Karen and I talk about working on purpose, the inner work we all need to do, how to keep yourself buoyant and the absolute importance of having a mission rather than “just selling a thing”.
Don’t just build a business, build a Lighthouse instead. If you have a desire to contribute, to give back and make a difference on a large or small scale wit your unique skills and experience, you will love this conversation.

When you first meet Erin, the thing that you notice almost instantly is her certainty, an air of confidence and focus that is overlaid with a deeply generous soul – she really wants you to have a life that feels expansive, satisfying and easeful and is eager to share her experiences and insights to help you along that path.
Her energy is contagious and inspiring and this is one of THE most enjoyable interviews I’ve had the pleasure of hosting on this Podcast.
But, like most of us, the path to this place was not linear and was not without its challenges and as Erin points out, she is still “very much on the growth journey”. She, like me, sees this Next Chapter as an evolution, not a revolution.
An entrepreneur straight out of college. Erin has an organisers heart, establishing “Living Peace” a professional organizing business in Massachusetts when she was just 23. She grew Living Peace into a significant and successful entity before an intense project had her burn out, hit a wall and experience a breakthrough….
She recognised that time and space management was just a small part of the puzzle – energy management was the biggest piece. Erin begun to question how you change patterns, shift your thinking, reclaim your power and agency over your domain. When she found that power, everything began to move as she consciously chose to create a new business and life.
One of Erin’s favourite quotes is:
“Between stimulus & response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom”.
Victor Frankel
Change begins with self-awareness and the understanding that when you pause and really become aware of what’s going n for you, what’s acceptable, what’s not, what you can change and what you need to let go of, the field of possibility bursts wide open. Once you reach that place you can then turn your attention to transforming the age old feelings of both “busy” and “stuckness” into powerful, intentional results.
Are you ready to blend emotional and practical action? This conversation is the catalyst you’ve been waiting for…

If you are in business, you are in sales and that fact can be decidedly intimidating for many women,. In this episode I briefly cover 6 steps that can help take you from uncertainty and nervousness to clarity and confidence, into the world of Wholehearted Sales Conversations!
Why is it that sales can be so tricky for us? I believe there are a few key reasons… Sometimes it’s because we entwine our self-worth with the service we provide and that can tie us up in knots when we need to “sell ourselves”. Sometimes it’s because we’re not talking to the right people, our most aligned clients, and there is simply not a match between what is needed and what we can offer.
Sometimes it’s because we lack a clear structure to guide us through a conversation and so we end up giving so much great advice on the call that there is then no motivation for our client to take the next action, because they’re full! And sometimes it’s because we’re not coming to the call as an Advocate for our potential clients greatest good and are too invested in a certain outcome, and that energy hijacks the conversation.

Rebecca Flansberg was in the Office products industry for 30 years, working for two different companies from a pretty young age. It was a good career, solid and dependable. But she was beginning to feel not only stuck and dissatisfied, but also powerless, trapped by the belief that these were the only skills that she had. The Golden Handcuffs of a well-paid job where she was the major breadwinner for her family, were firmly in place.
Until one day a window opened.
Becky attended a conference where a new possibility opened for her. There was a moment when she saw the skills she did have could be repurposed, when she heard about a blossoming new industry – being a VA, an Online Virtual Assistant.
“I realised that whatever knowledge you have in your brain, whatever experience you have in your life, there is someone in the world willing to pay you for that! Just start by making a list of everything you know and then begin to focus in on the ideas that light you up. I decided to combine my love of blogging and social media and today, I have a thriving business I run from home”.
Rebecca shares a tonne of strategies, tactics, resources, advice and insights in this deep, wide wholehearted conversation from the need to never stop prospecting and learning to developing multiple streams of income and sparring with your Inner Critic.
If you’ve ever felt the desire to step out of what you are doing now and into something new, but are not sure you “have what it takes”, this conversation would be just the catalyst f possibility that you need!

Micaela Becattini is, in her own words “devoted to growth and evolution”, especially in the midst of significant challenge, something that she has rather a lot of first hand experience with!
In 2004 Micaela moved to Australia from Italy and found moving countries to be an intense and challenging, especially the adaptation to a new culture and a new language. This Next Chapter in her life was disorientating, and she was concerned that she had bitten off a bit much as she struggled to find her feet, make new friends, and in fact, redefine her own identity..
Shortly afterwards the challenges increased when she developed Crohns Disease, an immune disease that is invisible, but debilitating and this further reinforced her sense of social isolation.
But Micaela is a fighter! She shook off “my victim mentality”, let go of the feeling of shame and embarrassment and started a support group in her area for others. And that was just the beginning of her own graceful transition, as she embraced her personal power.
Today, Micaela is a Life Transitions Coach. She works with women who are underdoing their own transformations, stepping them through her unique process of change, helping them to face their fears and take the baby steps of courage that will open up a whole new life.

Suzanne always knew she wanted to be a counselor, to help people, but when she shared that desire with someone important as a little girl, the negative reaction she was met with led her to bury that desire.
It wasn’t until her late 30’s after a divorce that Suzanne reconnected with that buried dream and returned to University to study psychology.
“It really wasn’t easy, with 3 kids and aging parents it was a struggle. But I simply focused on each small step and I knew from the underlying feeling that this was right for me. I was in alignment I was in flow”.
After graduating and in private practice Suzanne continued to rely on my her intuition to follow her new direction and when she discovered the work of Gary Craig, who is considered the founder of the Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT or as it is commonly known, Tapping, she was excited by what this could mean for her clients and studied to become a practitioner.
“I believe all of our negative emotions are caused by a disruption in the body energy systems, our energy fields. When you tap on the energy meridians, whilst exploring and resolving the beliefs associated with those blocks, the blocks clear and the emotion goes. It’s so powerful – before I discovered EFT it’s as though I had all the pieces for the jigsaw, but they just weren’t falling into place. Now they have and that has also been greatly assisted by my study and understanding of the Law of Attraction. Together these two tools have such power for you to change your life”.
Suzanne knows without doubt that you are the creator of your experience. That it is in your control. You can claim your power and step into Your Next Chapter with confidence and a lighter heart and in this expansive wholehearted conversation we explore just how you can do that both with a DIY approach and with the assistance of an experienced practitioner.

Are you a woman who’s feeling a little disillusioned by the way the business world is today? When you take a rare moment to slow down, to pause, are you aware of feeling increasingly disconnected from yourself, from community, from nature? And has the thought crossed your mind that there must be a better way? That there’s ample evidence that classic capitalism and our patriarchal society just aren’t working? Notions of scarcity, competition, power, money and fear are limiting us. There’s scope for so much more when we welcome feminine energy with its core of creativity, collaboration, abundance and love to rise up and take its place right alongside the masculine.
It’s time for change.
These thoughts shared by myself and my friends and colleagues Carolyn Tate and Samantha Nolan-Smith and so we got together and had a wholehearted conversation in late June of 2016.
We hope that it connects wit your heart and perhaps inspires some new ideas, a desire for change, recognition of the power you have and the knowledge that you are not alone.

In 2008 Christine Weston was lost and flummoxed. She hadn’t anticipated her marriage ending and was not sure of what she was going to do next - she had been out of the workforce for fifteen years as she focused on her role as a Mother.
“I needed to create an income, but fear and a lack of confidence were my biggest challenges and I became painfully aware that for women, there is equally a cost in not having gone to work as having gone to work during our Mothering years”.
Christine drew of deep reserves of courage and experience in moving between 3 countries and became a relocation consultant –“but I did not like being at the beck and call of someone else, not making enough money to really make ends meet and having no time at all for my kids”.
Something had to change.
Christine started down the path to personal development and as she attended workshops and mixed with new people, she began to rediscover the confident person that she used to be. “I worked out what I wanted my new life to look like and worked backwards from there”.
Like so many Next Chapter Business Women, it was Christine’s painful experiences that opened the door to a new possibility – she realised that her knowledge of divorce and the time she had spent helping simplify the ins and outs of the process for others could be channeled into a compassionate business idea. The Split Kit was born and now skillfully guides people through the first steps into this new world.
In this compelling wholehearted conversation we dive into roller-coaster of emotions involved in forging a new life, a new self-image and a new business and all of the stretching and growth that is a part of this journey. I know you’ll find it, and Christine, inspiring!

Loralee Hutton was treading the path of corporate success in the dot com era. Immersed in eighty hour work weeks, she was part of the work hard and play hard team and thrived on the camaraderie and sense of achievement. Her experience and expertise then paved the way to starting her own business in software training and she welcomed the anticipated freedom, flexibility and change of pace.
Only it didn’t quite work out that way.
“My new business grew substantially over the next 4-5 years but I got to the stage where I wished I could fire myself!” says Loralee. That growth had taken her in a direction that she did not really want, and she began to realise how much she missed consulting and client contact. Before she could really unpack this realisation, a significant health challenge changed everything.
Sometimes clouds do indeed have silver linings and from this unexpected challenge, a doorway opened on a new direction. Loralee asked herself the question “why can’t I start a business that is just me?”. www.LoraleeHutton.com was the answer and Her Potable Biz, an exciting Next Chapter, was born.
An energetic, uplifting conversation, you’ll feel new possibilities bubble up inside when you listen in today.

Maya had an energetic career in film and TV casting and as a professional singer in New York and Asia before stepping into fulltime motherhood,. After almost 8 years in this life role, she realised that she was ready for more again and wanted a business she could build and manage from home. She didn’t know what that was going to be and so she “put it out to the Universe” and began the research journey into options.
The beauty of an open mind and heart is such that “when the entrepreneur is ready the opportunity appears”. An opportunity did tap on her door and it ticked the boxes of being something she was passionate about and really believed in and Maya soon found herself as the exclusive Australian Representative for Fuelboxes – an intriguing and important product that brings heart to heart and face to face conversations back to centre stage in an increasingly technology driven and disconnected world.
Now that the business opportunity was here, the adventure began – there was so much to learn in the online and marketing worlds to get the message and the products into the hands of those who need them!
This is a confidence building conversation – if you feel you have lost a little of your mojo, you’ll be so glad you listened in.

Maria Allyn was feeling the impact of menopause significantly. It felt like a reckoning of sorts where a cloud descended for some time both physically and emotionally. She realized the roles she had been playing throughout her life, the roles of wife and mother and employee had buried her authentic self and that is was time to take the steps to reclaim who she was.
Midlife was triggering this evaluation, and what do you do when the life you’ve been living is not the life you want? You re-imagine your possibilities and become your own SheRo of course!
“There was something internal that was begging to be heard”, says Maria “and so I had to disconnect, get quiet and reacquaint myself with me”. It was time for a whole new set of beliefs about what was important and what was possible.
For Maria this included leveraging her past experiences, upskilling in coaching and creating a business that helps other women step into this new phase of life with clarity, courage and conviction – Midlife mastery was born.
This uplifting discussion is sure to inspire you to take action too.

I am a HUGE book fiend, usually with 3 or 4 on the go at once and I’ve decided that I’d like to provide a review of some of my favourites here on the Podcast each month that I strongly feel will make a contribution to your Next Chapter Business and Life.
This month I’m sharing “The Abundance Code” – How to bust the 7 Money Myths for a rich life now by Julie Ann Cairns. I listened to an interview with Julie Ann on the Hay House Summit and, recognising that money myths and blocks have played, and still play, a big role in my own entrepreneurial journey, decided that this was a book that needed to be in my world.
In this enlightening and empowering book, Julie talks about the 7 money myths that can hold us back from creating the wealth and abundance that we seek and how it is the interplay of Desire, Knowledge and Belief that determines the level of success that we will experience. She talks us through how to become aware of the blocks we have based on the level of frustration and lack of flow we may experience – red flags that let us know we need to place attention here. It’s a highly recommended read.

Caroline was waiting for the lightbulb moment– “I was searching for that magical space between passion and purpose, but I just kept hitting brick walls until I realised that it doesn’t have to be a HUGE moment – all I had to do was become aware of what kept drawing me in and follow that. But what an emotional roller coaster it was until then!”.
In this wholehearted conversation Caroline and I explored the parallels between her own Next Chapter journey into a fulfilling and successful business and the journey into successful weight loss that she takes her clients on.
The connecting threads? Letting go of the should’s and must’s and moving from chaos to calm by stopping, breathing and getting into a relaxed headspace so you can become calmer, more confident and in control. Your mindset is pivotal and action is essential – when you have both in harmony, the results are quite incredible.
Take time to listen into this illuminating discussion – you are bound to feel inspired and motivated!

“Mindfulness is like turning a light on in a dark room. Once you have, it makes a lot of other things possible”. That’s a quote from Dr Craig Hased that Sonja Keller shares with us in this weeks wholehearted conversation and as we dug down into this simple but powerful concept, I began to more deeply appreciate the impact the practice of Mindfulness can have on all aspects of our business and life.
Sonja has, in her own words, lived a few lifetimes in her career and personal life – chapters galore! She has been a professional violinist, a Music Teacher, worked within the Juvenile Justice System, in Mental Health and Child Protection Services. Her demanding roles saw her seek to understand how to better work with people who were in distressing situations. This led to the discovery of Mindfulness and when she saw the way it helped people become calmer, more resilient and to handle stress much more easily, Sonja was delighted and hooked. She credits the practice with allowing her stay in Child Protection for 10 years when the usual service length is just two.
Sonya now teaches Mindful Living to individuals, entrepreneurs and organisations through her Next Chapter business. In this Episode we explore how to bring Mindfulness into your life, weaving it into your everyday life with ease so you can enjoy the benefits – which are many!

When Liz Scully was working long and frantic hours juggling teams of up to 200 people producing special effects for Hollywood films she was absolutely in her zone of genius. An Emmy and several Oscar nominations for her work aptly illustrated that fact. But since she was building her own “escape tunnel” on the side, “Rethink Retreats” that were designed to “help people lead less stressful lives”, it was not too surprising to see a Next Chapter looming on the Horizon.
Fast forward to 2016 and Liz is the Founder of Rethink Central, the home of Masterminds, where she specialises in matchmaking small groups of people who “meet regularly and set goals to achieve by the time you next meet”. A simple definition for one of the most powerful and positive business tools you’ll ever experience, Masterminds have the ability to change you and your business in ways that may surprise you.
A classic example of taking the unique skills and experiences you’ve developed in your first chapters and reforming them into a Next Chapter Business that fits you like a glove, fulfills you, makes a difference for others and generates an abundant living, Liz’s energy and expertise will be a catalyst for your own leap forward.

There’s been something brewing in the air lately. Change is afoot, many of us are feeling this new energy and it can be unsettling. Old stories reemerge. Old feelings turn up again. New desires and new directions tease us and we’re not sure if we can go there or not.
I’ve had many conversations over the past few weeks about this disquiet. Perhaps it’s been because so many planets are in retrograde? Who knows! But the reality is irrefutable, Change is in the air.
You might know exactly what you need to do to embrace this next chapter (a chapter within the chapter perhaps?) But you might be held back by fear, sadness, resentment, anxiety or regrets whether they be conscious or unconscious.
So in this weeks episode I’m sharing an exercise, a Personal Inventory exercise, that may provide you with the insight and keys to break free, let go and move forward.
I hope it’s helpful – it’s certainly unlocked a lot of stuff for me!

When Caroline first left school she did what any of us did – under the caring guidance of her parents, she succumbed to the pressure of pursuing a career that offered safety and a “good income”. This traditional pathway that many of us know so well worked for awhile…. Until that slow sense of recognition of the truth kicked in – “I’m just not happy doing what I’m doing”.
Something had to change.
After working with a Career Coach, Caroline reconnected to her values, accepted that the Corporate World just wasn’t a great fit anymore, realised that she has something of real value to offer, took a deep breath…. and created a new path for herself, one that connected all the dots of her life and experiences up until then and blended them together in a business that now fills her up from the inside.
Accounting and business prowess, a love of food, a desire to build community and natural creativity – these have been the foundations blocks on which Caroline has built “The Ingredients of Business”, an enterprise devoted to helping other entrepreneurs create flourishing food businesses.
As a self-confessed introvert, there were many challenges that Caroline faced, and still faces, on this entrepreneurial adventure and her quietly courageous and confident approach is an inspiration to all of us who wish to tread a new path in our Next Chapters.
And inspiration aside, Caroline is such a whizz with simplifying the numbers of business and the resources she provided us with in this episode are hugely helpful!

“My intention is to live a vibrant life with curiosity”.
Tammy Roth is a courageous woman, a woman who understands thevalue of learning from your past. At five years sober, “cruisingalong and enjoying being substance free”, Tammy was an author,aRetreat Leader and the Clinical Director of a women’s recoverycentre. Life was looking good.
But self-awareness is a gradual journey and she eventually hadher “head falling out of her ass” moment - a sense that, as much asshe had wanted to see her childhood as “normal”, she needed toaddress the reality of the things thatdidn’t happen and their impact. The truthwas that as much as she cringed at wounded child phraseology, sheneeded to explore this part of her own story, acknowledge that whathad happened was not ideal. Fiercely rejecting a victim label,Tammy choose more empowering language, to see herself as a survivorand to embrace that everything happens for a reason and that growthis the result.
And so her journey of recovery, first outlined in her book “HighBottom, Letting go of Vodka and Chardonnay”, continued. Tammy couldsee that the way she had lived her life, even her sober life, upuntil now, was no longer working for her.
It was time for a new perspective and “New Bottom, Turning theother Cheek”, her second book, takes you along on the next chapterof her journey.
This is an open hearted, vulnerable and powerful conversationabout conscious choices, letting go of perfectionism, families, reckonings, soothing our inner chaos and a thousand newbeginnings.

“Women die in their 50’s but aren’t buried til their 80’s”.
It was this quote that Sharleen Greer credits as one of her Awakening Moments, the realisation that she had more than 30 years ahead of her and she wanted them to be great years. Full years. Courageous years. Not long after this she read “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks and found powerful questions in this book that she could not answer. This threw her into “a bit of a tizz”.
Sharleen knew that it was time to do what she really wanted to do and so she made the decision to step into her own Next Chapter by immersing herself in positivity and possibility, recognising that “there are so many things I have to offer – a lifetime of wisdom and knowledge and examples that I can share with other people”.
Although she had been a business owner back in her twenties, the landscape looked very different this time around. “I had to create a whole new level of confidence, a whole new mindset around sales and marketing and social media – I have to say, starting and growing a business is the BIGGEST personal development experience you will ever have!”.
In one of the most uplifting conversations I’ve had Sharleen shares openly about her Next Chapter Journey that’s unfolding each day, the delicate balance between action and allowing and the need to learn to trust yourself, your value and your intuition.
I know you’ll love it!

In her first chapters, Kristy Smith was all about service. She worked in hospitality managing teams and organising functions and conferences and in hospital administration, responsible for up to 100 people at a time.
Kristy saw first hand how important it was to build relationships and become a trusted, reliable source of information and results. But she also saw how many people, herself included, became stuck and struggling trying to handle everything themselves. It was painfully obvious that potential business growth was often hindered by a lack of capacity and a simple truth – it’s not possible to do it all without help!
This realisation shaped Kristy’s Next Chapter, when she wanted both flexibility and fulfilment and decided to start her own business after having her kids. Virtual Elves Outsourcing was born in 2007 from the desire to help small business owners and entrepreneurs escape from the tasks that weigh you down and restrict creative growth.
Outsourcing is a big step for many people, and Kristy delights in helping make the transition an easy and enjoyable one and
In this episode we explore both her own journey into a Next Chapter Business she loves as well as some of steps you can take introduce selective outsourcing in your own business so you can remain in your own zone of genius.

Nikki White has always had an exceptional knack for organisation, productivity and getting things done… but this traditional approach has been enriched with a philosophical twist as she has stepped into her own Next Chapter and redefined success on her terms.
In the first chapters of her working life Nikki worked as a receptionist and PA, honing her administration skills. Once marriage and children became a part of her story she, like many women, realised that although Corporate life was no longer for her, she wanted and needed to be more than simply a Mum. That’s when she launched Scribes, her Virtual Assistant business from a spare room at home in 2005 and her entrepreneurial adventure began.
Fast-forward to today, Nikki has diversified her business, divorced, re-partnered, become a Theta Healer, founded Wellness Hubs Australia, a national networking, training and support Network for Wellness Practitioners across the country and now uses her deep and rich understanding of technology to provide Online Business Management Services for several blossoming entrepreneurs.
Nikki has a unique blend of talents and philosophies, seamlessly combining modern day tech to take you out of overwhelm with a holistic approach, helping her clients tap into the energy of their business, to pause and get intentional to allow flow and ease.
In this episode we explore some of the easiest ways you can make small but powerful changes in your own business practices to welcome clarity, space and organization into your working day.

Melissa had one of those moments show up - a doorway into a new possibility opened when she realised that she did not want to go back to her "Before Kids" Corporate life.
She asked herself the question "What don't I want to do?" and knew that it was time for her authentic voice to be heard. She took a deep breath, looked at her skills and listened to her heart. This pause and decision to let go of fear (after all, what's the worse that could happen?) and to trust herself led Mel to explore Life Coaching with the Beautiful You Coaching Academy. Her Blog and Business, The Other Side of Forty, came to life.
"I saw a lot of other women so similar to me" she says, "with corporate backgrounds before having kids and then with all of the demands on them, the joy and passion begin to disappear....". Turning 40 was a real time for me to take stock and decide to start taking care of me, and I wanted to help other women to do the same".
This is an inspiring conversation about choices, change and what's involved in starting your own business - is it time for you to reclaim joy and passion in your own life?
Melissa has provided us with a simply 4 step guide to invite more fun and joy back into your life and you can download it here.

Maria Doyle is one of the most passionate women I have ever interviewed. Refreshingly candid, she is completely dedicated to facilitating "Quality Learning Experiences" that create real change in the world. Maria takes the guesswork out of how to create a powerful learning journey so you can deliver 5-star courses, workshops and presentations.
I have personally worked with Maria and experienced her laser focus in helping me to improve the quality of my flagship course for confidence and clarity in a Next Chapter Business, Aligned, and I am excited to be able to share a slice of her expertise with you in this weeks episode. The insights we share in this wholehearted conversation are relevant and hugely valuable to anyone who wants to be a catalyst for change - to help their clients to improve in any area. These core learning principles can be used in online courses, live workshops, coaching, training and more.
Like most of us in our Next Chapters, Maria is intent on making a difference with her unique skills and experience, leveraging all of her diverse skills and roles into the business that she has today. She has extensive international experience, teaching, developing and managing courses in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the UAE, the UK, Hong Kong and Kiribati but her life mission is now "to take the lack-lustre courses, workshops and presentations of this world – both virtual and live – and transform them into ‘it-changed-my-life’ experiences for people".
Like your clients, students, soon-to-be-raving fans.

Maria has provided a fabulous bonus for this Episode - her Training Skills Assessment so you can rate your current skill level and see where improvements and tweaks can be made to deliver that quality experience that creates raving fans - you can access these here.

Kylie Patchett had a “chiropractic adjustment of the soul” back in 2012 when her Father passed away and she realised with a jolt that he had lived a life out of obligation and duty, never allowing who he truly was to emerge.
She was following in his footsteps and it was not working.
But to leave her Corporate role, the security and the prestige of significant achievement, was that a good idea?
She felt the fear and did it anyway, and that is a very apt description considering where she focuses her attention and expertise today, helping female entrepreneurs to recognise fear as a normal, healthy response to change and to move through it.
As Kylie says 'Bless you Fear, for showing me the edge of my known zone - I'm here to grow, so thank you"!
In this Episode Kylie walks you through the most common self-sabotage cycles and shares her ABC method for avoiding getting stuck so you can build the rock solid self belief that allows you to access the field of fluid potential in your business and life.
Kylie has provided a fabulous bonus for this Episode - her best selling Making Friends with Fear Kindle Book and audio book - you can access these here.

It was 2009 when her Mother passed away when Kerry Jeffery paused and took a good look at her own life. She realised that her Mum's life had been quite unfulfilled and that her own was feeling more than a little like "groundhog day".
And that's when she decided it was time to change.
Kerry had always wanted to work with people, supporting them to become their best selves and so she gave herself full permission to do whatever it was she needed to do to pursue this next chapter in her own life with full authenticity and curiosity. This journey began with becoming a Louise Hay "Heal Your Life" Trainer and has continued ever since as she has gradually added layers of experience and insights.
"As an Entrepreneur today there is no mould to follow for many women" says Kerry, "our Mothers and Grandmothers didn't do this. We need to forge our own true path. We need to be careful not to look outside for validation or approval - this is never permanent. But Self-love and self-approval? Now that's true vaccination against what the world may hand out".
Kerry shares a wealth of wisdom and actionable isights in this weeks episode, helping you to define yourself from the inside out as you move into your own Next Chapter. I know you'll love her as much as I do!
Kerry has provided a powerful dialogue exercise that will help you to communicate & negotiate with ease please take the time to download this valuable formula

Larissa Halls is a woman who has had a profound impact on me personally. One of my Belief Buddies introduced her to me a few years back and I began working with her on a fortnightly basis as my Mindset Coach almost 2 years ago. I know without a doubt that many of my leaps forward in personal and business growth during that time have come as a result of the conversations we have, the way she challenges my perceptions and default thinking. And that's why I was excited to interview Larissa for this weeks episode and to share some of her insights and perspectives with you.
Some of the most enlightening work I've done with Larissa, and we discuss these concepts in the episode, is that our voids drive our values and that everything that happens to us can be viewed as BOTH negative and positive - we are to seek balance in our perspectives if we can take the time to pause and evaluate them. As difficult as it can be to find the growth opportunity inherent in a challenge that has knocked you for six, with courage and self-awareness you can and this is an invaluable skill to develop for both your entrepreneurial adventure and life in general.
Larissa has provided a powerful exercise that will help you to step up and claim the value and the impact of your work in the world - if you have ever felt doubt about your ability to help others, please take the time to download complete this worksheet!

My guest this week, lovely Image Coach Leanne Mulcahy, speaks the wholehearted truth - "Whatever you’re wearing, if you’re not feeling good about who you are when you look in the mirror and think, “Am I worthy of showing up?”, it’s going to be really tough to actually dress that body of yours". That's why I always start from the inside and work my way out with clients whenever I work with them".
Self-worth, that topic shows up all over the place doesn't it? That's why it's at the core of my own Next Chapter message! It cuts across everything we do and never more so than when it comes to our personal style, creating a style that is aligned with who we are, so we can show up in the world with authenticity and confidence.
Leanne talks of the "dressing for your personality philosophy", letting go of the idea that there are strict style rules to follow and instead, to explore what the woman you have become today wants to express.
If you are keen to begin to explore and expand your own Personality Style as you are evolving in your next chapter, Leanne has provided us with a great resource as a starting point for Personal Style Clarity and you can download it here.

How do you start your day? How do you end your day? I'm a big believer in the power of Intention - making a conscious choice to embed a supportive routine into your day. I'm not talking perfection or rigidity here, just a gentle commitment to yourself, to create an atmosphere that sets you up the likelihood of a more successful day, because you have chosen to create a positive headspace, even if you've only managed to take 5 minutes for yourself.
In the past I fell into the routine of waking up and immediately rolling over the check my phone for emails. Immediately plunging into headspace of my To Do list. Immediately feeling the pressure descend, the pressure that scattered any lingering remnants of restful slumber!
I usually followed that up by arriving at my desk in a rather hyper state after the crazy morning breakfast, lunch boxes, school bus and train run, plunging into my To Do List that had been taunting me since 6am.
And the evenings? Quite often I fixated on what I didn't get done and thus the whole slightly crazy routine would repeat itself in the morning. Groundhog day.
And when I finally realised that this wasn't serving me (rising stress levels anyone?) I began to open to an alternative way of being, creating what I have termed "The Bookends of my Day". It's taken awhile for me to discover that works best for me, I can say with conviction that there really are some simple changes you can make that will make a significant difference to your days too.
I've made a copy of my "Weekly Planning Guide" available to you - this has been an important next step for me to ensure the feeling of focus and flow continues throughout my working days once I've "bookended" my morning. You can download a copy right here and hope you find it valuable too - it's a little different from a normal planner!

In this Episode, Barb Wade and I spoke about a slow nagging, a feeling that asks for your attention as over time, you realise that you are simply not fulfilled in what you are doing, despite the outward achievement or boxes that may be ticked.
Little by little, she started realising what she was burning out. That this was not her passion, her hearts desire. That the work just didn’t have doesn’t have real meaning for her. Barb was good at it, and that was gratifying to a certain extent, but it simply lacked meaning and so something, eventually needed to change.
And so began her first Next Chapter as she gave herself a slow and steady exploration of what she wanted. The questions she began to ask of herself and encourages you to ask as well include:
“Why are you here? Why are you here on this planet? What do you uniquely have to give and to gift other people? What would give your life meaning?”
Over the years this remarkable woman has moved from directly reporting to Steven Spielberg, to a role in a prime time television show, to deep personal transformational coaching with clients to extraordinarily successful business coaching.... before she just recently felt that deep calling rising up again, the need for change, to be true to herself once more and return to her true passion, helping individuals find their path to incredible freedom. To unbridled self-expression. To deep self-love. To inspiration and excitement. To meaning. To joy.
She shares openly of her own journey in this Episode in a rich, deep, honest and vulnerable conversation that I know you will love as we explore how to make the decisions in your business in life from a place of love, rather than fear so you can open fully to possibility.
As Barb says “It’s so interesting to see that our prior journey, the places we suffered and struggled almost always becomes the foundation of that real contribution and that gift and that next chapter that turns out to be our purpose.”
I could not agree more.
You can download your own 4 step Guide to Making Decisions for Love right here. The 4 questions in this guide are a powerful way of reminding you to pause and tune into what's actually true for you, rather than what you think you should do.

With 16 years as a journalist, 5 years owning a PR consultancy business, and as a published author and blogger, she lives and breathes story and strategy.
Soulful Client Pathways is the alternative name that Kellie has developed to describe what are often called "Sales Funnels" in a traditional internet marketing business model. Expressing what you do, the outcomes and impact that you provide for your clients in an open hearted and compelling way opens the door to a wholehearted conversation. When your initial description resonates with the listener, when they can feel your enthusiasm, empathy and experience and recognise that what you have to offer just may be exactly what they have been looking for, you have potential alignment.
There’s no need to “rote learn” or communicate a sales pitch, you can simply open your heart and share. It is however, often handy to have a framework to utilise that can help you to both build your own confidence and create the connection you seek, without any hiccups or hesitation.
In this Episode I share that framework – talking you through how to say what you do in a captivating way so you connect with those people you are most aligned with, the ones you are here to take care of. I also share a fabulous free resource, a guide that steps you through exactly how to craft your own Captivating Statement – a framework with ample room for you to personalise it with your own style and flavour. You can download the resource right here.

Like many of us embarking on our Next Chapters, Lisa Phillips was led to her work in the world through personal experience. Though it may be difficult to imagine it now, there was a long period of time in her life where Lisa suffered from a significant lack of self-confidence, where she looked at other people and longed to have their self-belief, where she felt stuck and unhappy and experienced depression, even though things looked good on the outside.
Then, a number of events in her own life acted as catalysts that woke her up and prompted her to, as she so eloquently describes, "get out of the back seat and take the steering wheel of her life, no longer prepared to allow fear and doubt, other peoples opinions of what she should do and old stories drive her life".
The result? A brilliantly successful and fulfilling Life Coaching business helping other women to do just the same - own their value and build their confidence.
In this episode Lisa and I explore the ways in which you can build your own confidence with power and certainty and you can download a 7 steps to self-confidence guide right here.

I believe Your Next Chapter business needs to serve you as much as it serves your clients because you will do your best work when you are feeling fulfilled and energised, and that comes far more easily when you are truly connected to the clients you are best equipped to serve and help.
People buy not because they understand what you have to sell, but because they feel understood. They invest when they feel your empathy, your certainty and your confidence that you can guide them to the outcome they are seeking.
Everyone needs to move through their own buying cycle and to aid this journey, you need to have a good understanding of the TOMPPA – the “top of mind problem, pain or aspiration” that they have and how you can be the bridge between where they are now and where they want to be.
