Continuing the series on Questions Jesus Asked, Pastor Chris Bower highlights the question "Who do you say that I am?"
Are you beautifully wasted? Continuing the series on "Questions Jesus asked", Pastor Chris Bower explains what it means to be beautifully wasted.
In his final sermon in the illumin8 series, Pastor Chris Bower reveals the 5 uncommon commitments to God's kingdom.
In this sermon, Pastor Chris Bower highlights the importance of being a carrier of peace.
"The ultimate act of God's Mercy is His Grace...Mercy and Grace are the foundations of the New Testament."
Pastor Sam Fisher continues our "Illumin-8" series on the Beatitudes with blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Pastor Sam Fisher makes 10 observations from Jesus' prayer life that will help us to be effective when we pray.
Pastor Corey Hooper reveals the importance of prayer in our lives and how we should all embrace Prophecy as one of the gifts God has given us.
It is time we look to the Lord, the time we call upon the Holy Spirit, and we thank God for His grace, His mercy and His faithfulness!
There are close to 1000 names and descriptive words used to express God in the Bible. Through this message, Pastor Chris focuses on Lord of Peace, Healer and the name of Jesus. Here 3 testimonies that speak to the three names.
It is time for a comeback! Time to come back to a reverence of God, come back to surrender, come back to the Word and come back to your first love.
Pastor Chris describes the 3 possible attitudes we have about serving. Even Jesus did not come to earth to be served but to serve.
Control your money, do not let it control you. When it comes to money, it is all about the posture of your heart. Are their aspects of your finances that you need to take to God?
"Wrong thoughts are like weeds. If we don’t control them they take over. Treat every thought as you would a plant. If it is worthy, water it. If not, remove it. And remember flowers or weeds start as seeds. What you allow to grow will determine what you get."
We have built NCC to make disciples. Disciples that will go to all the world and make more disciples. D.L. Moody says "It is better to train ten people to do the work of the ministry, than for you to do the work of ten people in ministry." But it is harder. It may be harder to do it the way the Lord has called us to do it but this is the way we are going. We will disciple you and others coming in as far as you are willing to go. Do you want to go?
Why Do We Disciple? So that we can prophesy by the Spirit and the breath of God will cause us to live. So we can come into unity, and walk in a manner worthy of our calling.
Pastor Chris walks through Acts 2, showing the importance of the church being culturally diverse. "God's heart has always been for all nations".
One of the greatest privileges we get as followers of Jesus Christ today is the privilege to be part of His Church... His Body. One of the greatest responsibilities we have is selecting the local church He wants us to be a part of!
"When God created family He did so with great purpose in mind: to be a living picture of His love to all people, to be a safe place to grow, to be a place of relationship and intimacy, and to be a place of health."
Pastor Barry Cross brings an amazing word all the way from England. This message is an encouragement in the midst of the journey God has called each of us to.
Pastor Chris breaks down one of our core values: Inclusive of Others. We welcome everyone no matter what their story is. He uses Luke 4 to show us that Jesus includes the poor, the prisoners of war, those who see differently than us and the crushed.
Pastor Sam brings an important message on being selfless instead of selfish. "A big concern on my heart is how much we are missing in our own lives because we live in charge and miss out on the fullness of letting God, with all of His amazing abundance, goodness, generosity, care and love be in full control".
Pastor Chris walks through Luke 19 and describes the difference between someone who is committed versus someone who stands in the crowd.
Pastor Roger brings the Word about whether we are walking as a child of God or acting childish. He breaks down 1 Corinthians 13 into 4 phases: Decision, Reasoning, Thinking and Action.
Pastor Chris speaks on the importance of being passionate, why we are passionate and the results of being passionate instead of passive.
To stop only dreaming and start recognizing destiny we need to awaken a 1. Zeal for the Kingdom 2. Purpose in the Kingdom 3. Recognition that we are Children of the Kingdom
Dad, you may feel like you’re the Steve Rogers before the super serum but the Holy Spirit lives in you as a believer and he has anointed and destined you to be super. You would fight a physical enemy to protect your family. Protect your family spiritually. Be the super hero that your family needs you to be!
Happy Father's Day!
"Our faith, trust, belief in the authority of and power of the resurrected Christ is evident in the words that we speak. Do we proclaim blessing or cursing, life or death, truth or lies, love or hate, faith or fear. Judging by our words, would God give us a megaphone or a muzzle?"
Pastor Roger walks us through what it looks like to walk in Authority, Permission and Power all from the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Chris shows us how the Holy Spirit shines through mothers for our Mother's Day message.
Pastor Sam walks through the gifts of the Spirit, which can be found in 1 Corinthians 12. He talks about how the Holy Spirit lives inside of each of us and loves to give us gifts.
Pastor Chris speaks on the grand entrance of the Holy Spirit. Through the Word, we can see that it was better that Jesus left the earth because it made room for God to no longer live among us, but dwell in us.
Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God, a person and a friend. The Holy Spirit wants to live in you, and be with you. He loves and cares for you deeply. He is inviting you into the most intimate and beneficial relationship on earth. And all you have to do is to say Yes… receive Him!
"Jesus loves losers, in Luke 19, he said he came to seek and save the lost (the loser). The best news is when he finds us we’re no longer lost nor are we losers. Now I’m in God’s family and I came with all of my mess but He is a redeemer of mess and restorer of broken, and rehabber of destiny."
Pastor Chris challenges us to move the fence. He challenges us to go the extra mile and even pray for our enemies.
Pastor Chris brings the Word and tells us why we cannot remain silent. "You are saved, called out of darkness, transformed into a people for His own possession SO you can tell out, declare abroad, to make known by praising or proclaiming the greatness of God. Our friendship with God will not allow us to be silent."
Pastor Sam walks us through practical ways to unpack the baggage of fear and unforgiveness. Hebrews 13:20-21
Pastor Chris walks us through 2 Corinthians 10 and discusses that the seeds of bondage will sprout roots if we don’t allow the Lord to deal with our soulish baggage. We are called to pick up our mighty spiritual weapons and start knocking down strongholds.
"My encouragement for today is that when things in life are looking way too big to handle, or are you really feeling intimidated by the “size” of what you are facing… change your perspective. Take a look at His heavenly perspective. Just imagine how small our biggest problem looks from there! Remember, He is our heavenly Father!"
Pastor Sam takes us through Genesis 26 and challenges us to keep digging our well so that we can be a well-source for others. "The only way we are going to experience the beauty and blessing of God in our life is to constantly live in the flow of His life giving presence… The Holy Spirit!"
Pastor Chris walks us through Genesis 32 as we discuss holiness. "Holiness is not a box to be checked. Instead, it is a lifestyle of seeking God, which influences our decisions."
Brother Alvin Anderson brings an update from the mission field in Honduras. He discusses the realities of living in Honduras and our call to be the church in the midst of chaos.
Pastor Roger takes us through 4 points on prayer: Prayer is a value proposition, it is NOT the IT support hotline. Prayer is a lifestyle, it is NOT a program. Prayer is the most powerful thing a Christian can do. Prayer is not about you. We don’t have a broken nation because the government took prayer out of schools, we have a broken nation because the church took prayer out of homes.
Corporate praise unifies us to do what we’ve been called to do and fills us full of hope for the destiny that he’s called us to fulfill together. We are strengthened as we praise together, not just in song but in preaching and testimony and prayer. We show a heart of praise when we strengthen each other by showing mercy and grace, by carrying each other’s hurts and troubles.
Pastor Chris shares a Christmas message we all need this year. The pastors and staff wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Pastor Chris brought a great word about whether we are soul fed or spirit led. He uses Hebrews 4 to explain the difference between our soul and spirit. "The more we walk with the Lord, the more our soul responds to our spirit. This is good but we can fall into a place of making good decisions from our soul instead of God-decisions from our spirit."
Pastor Jeremy preached a message asking us whether we look at our lives as temporary or eternal. He discusses what it looks like to have an eternal perspective that brings more people into the Kingdom of God.
Pastor Chris walks us through Philippians 4 as he shows us the secrets of Paul's joy-filled life. Keep your joy tank full, turn your worry into prayer, you don't always have to understand to receive and keep your thoughts in check. "When you are united with the anointed one, you rely on your heavenly nature, not your human nature."
Pastor Sam leads us through Philippians 3 and describes how to live a life that counts. "Giving up everything to gain Christ is really giving up nothing to gain everything!"
Pastor Chris titled his message "I See People" to emphasize in order to look after the needs of others, we have to look at others. We have to see them and their perspective. "If we don't act like Christ, we are just a book club that meets on Sundays."
Pastor Chris walks us through Philippians 1. He discusses how Paul was a prisoner of joy regardless of his circumstances or surroundings. We need to have joy in prayer and joy in the process. Joy can remain when happiness is fleeting.
Pastor Roger brings a good word about serving. He asks four questions: Who am I serving? Why do I serve? What does it mean to serve? and How does this apply to me? "Your worship must be authentic, and the same goes for your serving."
Pastor Chris walks through Luke 9 to show us how to connect. There are three things that must be present if we're going to connect with God's vision for NCC. First, we must connect with the cost. Second, we must connect with the mission. Finally, we must connect with the process. "The Kingdom is not being served if you are not being equipped."
Pastor Sam brings a word on staying instead of running or moving on your own. He talks about how we need to stay close to the Father and focus on His presence. We need to stay faithful in His process and stay fastened to His promises.
Wade Aaron, from Time to Revive Ministries, speaks about evangelism and our call to love those around us. He talks about how we need to be bold in our faith and strive to show the love of Christ to everyone we come in contact with.
Pastor Chris brings a good word on the decision to go. He walks through different instances in the Bible where individuals were told to go. Through each story in the Bible, we find that we need to go with faith, courage, confidence and purpose.
As we get ready to reveal the new Shepherds in our church, Pastor Chris describes the characteristics of a shepherd. A shepherd must be bold, spiritually sensitive, must seek Jesus and be quick to obey. Most importantly, a shepherd must know it's all about Jesus.
Pastor Sam starts our new series on the Shepherd and the sheep. He makes three points which include the Shepherd provides for us, protects us and the Shepherd's presence is with us. Not only is the Shepherd's presence with us, it pursues us on a daily basis. He focuses on Psalms 23 and reminds us of how we are sheep and God is the Shepherd.
"The definition of violent in this context is to forcibly enter or to be excessively zealous and passionate... Am I forcibly entering the Kingdom and seizing freedom? Am I excessively zealous and passionate about my freedom and others' freedom?.. Our ultimate weapon is the life of God flowing through us. No demonic bondage or scheme can stand in the presence of God because death and life cannot occupy the same space."
Pastor Sam preaches on the fact that God is love. Love is a noun and a verb when it comes to God. Love is who He is and what He does. He is infinitely and perfectly love in all of His ways. Everything God thinks, does, plans is completely in love.
Pastor Sam preaches on the just and righteous characteristics of God. "God is just; he never shows favoritism, is never partial and is never prejudice. And since he knows everything...all sides of every situation and every motive in our hearts; he is always fair!"
"God's omnipresence is all encompassing, which means he is also intimate, personal and readily accessible." We know that God is all around us and carries us in times of need. We can rest in the fact that he will never leave us, even when we feel distant from Him.
"Although our understanding is limited, God's understanding is NOT limited. It is beyond anything we could ever comprehend. We may be finite, but to the degree that we pursue God, He will reveal His plans to us."
Pastor Sam brings an encouraging word on the characteristics of God. He describes who God is and how we can know it is true.
Pastor Chris preaches on the fact that God's Word, character and purpose never change. This means we can rest knowing His plan for our lives or our world never changes.
"When the Holy Spirit prepares us for Kingdom purpose: He dwells in us and shows up on us, He's a trustworthy guide, and He's a gift giver." Pastor Chris closes our "We've Got Spirit" series with a game plan of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Sam contrasts the Holy Spirit with an orphan spirit. He tells us that an orphan spirit is one full of lies and wrong beliefs. The good news is "Papa God has a plan and purpose for your life".
Elise preaches on the Holy Spirit versus a spirit of poverty. In this day and age, it is easy to feel as if we are always lacking something. Elise poses 3 questions to ask ourselves: What is your source? Who is your provider? Where is your unity?
Pastor Chris delivers a sermon on the Holy Spirit versus the spirit of racism. He talks about how racism divides while the Holy Spirit unites. "Racism fights diversity, the Holy Spirit glorifies in it".
Pastor Chris preaches on religious spirit versus the power of the Holy Spirit. "A religious spirit is a mindset, encouraged by the enemy, which substitutes religious activity for the power of the Holy Spirit in our life."
Pastor Sam and Pastor Corey hold a discussion on Pentecost and the power of the Holy Spirit. They discuss baptism of the Holy Spirit and the experiences we will encounter when we invite Him in.
Pastor Roger taught a message on grace, which is the enabling power and influence of the Spirit of God. He gives many examples from the Bible where there was grace in the midst of difficult times. "Grace is more than just forgiveness, it's an empowerment."
Pastor Chris taught a message on the purpose found within life's storms-- referencing to Paul's unforeseen journey to Malta. He notes that focusing on storms will cause us to quit, but when we rely on the faithfulness of God, storms propel us to where He wants us to be. "Who's going to be affected if you quit?"
Pastor Sam teaches about the "Problem and Prescription" for comparison. He breaks down the harmful nature of comparison and gives loving advice on how to change your perspective. "Everyone has faults, limitations, and shortcomings. We need each other! You are needed. No one is better at being you than you!"
Pastor Chris preached on how we have been adopted into the Kingdom and the family of God-- this is great news! "All of the resources of Heaven is invested in you as a family member."

Pastor Chris delivers a message about not allowing fear of circumstances hinder us from being the people God created us to be.
Pastor Chris delivered a timely word for this season. He shared how disappointment tries to determine our level of hope; therefore, stunting our faith and impact. "Disappointment wants to distract you from God's appointment for you."
In this sermon, Pastor Chris addresses the lies that we believe when we have experienced the pain of rejection and how forgiveness can be the antidote.
Pastor Chris taught out of Mark 4 and shared four techniques to avoiding stress. His word is an encouragement for those in the throws of a storm and struggling to receive peace. "I want you to recognize that Jesus is ALWAYS in the boat."
Pastor Sam taught a message about the influence of fear. He teaches that Jesus is not distant in those times, but that He is a high priest that understands us and will protect us.
