And since it's become abundantly clear that every NatGeo special is exactly the same, I'm gonna devote the rest of this description to talking about the life of actor/comedian Chris Elliott. Born in 1960 in New York City as the fifth and youngest child of Bob Elliott of Bob & Ray fame, Mr. Elliott was hired as a production assistant on Late Night with David Letterman and soon began playing various wacky characters on-camera. This led to supporting roles in such films as Manhunter, The Abyss, Groundhog Day and There's Something About Mary, as well as starring roles in his own FOX primetime sitcom Get A Life and the feature film vehicle Cabin Boy. More recently, in the 2010s he had his own Adult Swim series Eagleheart, and a regular supporting role on Schitt's Creek. Chris Elliott's surreal, offbeat style of humor has been a comedy staple for over forty years and counting, and he continues to be an always-welcome character actor to this day. This week, for our first of two Halloween episodes of the year, the randomizer goes all the way back to 1984 to cover one of the earliest live-action efforts of a rising young talent by the name of Tim Burton, who in this landmark early work explored many of the very same themes and motifs that would later become ubiquitous in his filmography, including the juxtaposition of mundane suburban life with horror-fantasy tropes, the celebration of misunderstood outsiders over bland conformists, and of course cool-looking German expressionist gothic art design absolutely slathered all over the screen. At the time it was a unique, exemplary work of art from an obvious future auteur, so naturally Disney buried it like an undead dog's bone and only released it eight years later after its director made freakin' Batman. This week, the randomizer goes all the way back to 2009 to pick yet another Disney Channel Original Movie, and in this case, it's a DCOM about that strange mysterious fantastical creature known colloquially as the "chicken." What is a chicken? Where did they come from? What do they want from us? Which came first, the chicken or the guy named Pete? What does a guy named Pete have to do with any of this? Why in God's name did the Disney Channel think it was a great idea to make a movie about a basketball mascot that's just an ugly chicken suit? Why is the town in said movie full of grown-ass adults with seemingly nothing better to do with their lives than obsess - there's no other word for it, OBSESS - over said ugly chicken suit? How long can you watch this movie before your nose starts bleeding? What's the meaning of life? What happens after we die? Regular or extra-crispy? And for the love of God, who the hell is Tommy? On this episode, we hope to answer at least none of those questions. Born in 1946 in Pottstown, PA, Mr. Hall majored in music at Temple University in Philadelphia, met his performing partner John Oates in 1967, and together the duo of Hall & Oates enlivened pop radio in the 70s and 80s with such smash hits as "Private Eyes," "Maneater" and "You Make My Dreams (Come True)." They've had eight platinum albums and sixteen top ten singles, and they continue to tour to this day. It's about a poorly-protected Egyptian mummy who comes back to life, befriends a few kids, appears in a homemade monster movie, stars in a viral dance video, runs afoul of antiquity thieves, sticks a remote to the ceiling with honey somehow, accidentally buys too much birdseed, fights off goons with an enormous ice cream cone, and eventually goes back to sleep. "Well that all sounds interesting," I hear you ask, "but by any chance does it also involve an outdated Kid 'N Play haircut and/or a villain eating octopus erotically?"
