We are back after taking another couple weeks off and there is a lot for Dhani to catch John up on!
First, Dhani talks about Frozen 2 and how she likes it better than the first movie! She didn't think that was going to be possible, but it is in all aspects of the film.
Next, Dhani saw Terminator: Dark Fate. For nostalgia reasons, she enjoyed it. As a stand alone, she thought it wasn't the best.
Then both John and Dhani watched Noelle on Disney +. They explained that you need to like Anna Kendrick to enjoy the movie... which they do, so it was enjoyable to them.
Moving on to TV, Dhani wanted to talk about Limetown (Facebook Watch) first. She loved this series and whether or not there will be a second season, doesn't matter to her.
Next is a new show called Back to Life (Showtime) created by Daisy Haggard. She really liked this show and thought it was a new, interesting story to be told.
Then Dhani talks about the latest season of American Horror Story: 1984 (FX). This wasn't her favorite season of the show, but it wasn't the worst either. Solidly in the middle and good performances by all involved.
Next is a special from Mike Birbiglia called The New One (Netflix). Both Dhani and John watched this together and they enjoyed the first half a lot, but maybe had trouble relating to the second half. Still recommended to all, especially those with kids.
Finally, they talk about Disney+ and all of the great movies and shows available to watch with the service. They are loving all of the original shows as well as the documentaries on the service. You can find old movies and new movies and so many you had forgotten about. Love it and a great price for what you are getting.
To finish things, Dhani wanted to mention the few new shows of the season that she is still really enjoying at the middle of the season. These are The Unicorn, Prodigal Son, and Nancy Drew.

This week we ended up talking for a lot longer than we ever have!
First, Dhani talks about Last Christmas. Then she talks about the movie American Son (Netflix). She stresses how important it is for everyone to watch! Next is a documentary called Tell Me Who I Am (Netflix) which is a compelling story about twin brothers and what happens when one got amnesia at a young age.
Moving to television, Dhani starts by discussing the second season of Jack Ryan (Amazon Prime). She didn't enjoy this season as much as the first, but hopes for a third nonetheless. Next is The Kominsky Method (Netflix), which was the opposite... she liked this second season more than the first.
Moving on to discuss the shows on Apple TV+. First Dhani talks about For All Mankind... she has only watched the first episode and isn't sure if she will continue to watch. Next is Dickinson, which has a twist in the presentation of it and she hopes to finish the season. Finally, she talks about The Morning Show and the 4 episodes that have come out so far. Dhani has some major reservations about the show so far, but she is waiting to finish the season in hopes that they are ironed out.
Next, both Dhani and John discuss the comedy special Lobby Baby by Seth Meyers (Netflix). They both enjoyed this special so much!
The next show Dhani talks about is The Affair (Showtime) and the end of the show. She learned to appreciate by the end of the series how different it was in the story it was telling.
And finally, they both talk about the latest season of The Great British Bake Off (Netflix). They love this show so much and enjoy every second of it. They highly recommend to everyone, no matter if you don't like baking or anything. Looking forward to the next season!
In the Actors' Corner, they decided to do something different this week. Their "blind" spin to find an actor landed on 2 Fast 2Furious, which John had issues with any of the stars. So we decided to go through the entire cast and discuss our favorite projects of each. At least that's what Dhani thought they were doing... John did something else. :)
We are back with lots of good new shows to discuss, but first, Dhani saw Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She didn't enjoy it as much as the first one, and thought it was a bit too long, but didn't think it was a total dud.
Moving on to TV, Dhani first talks about the series Why Women Kill (CBS All Access). She didn't think this needed an entire season, but would have been enjoyable as a movie.
Next, she and John talk about the show Modern Love (Amazon Prime). She really enjoyed this show more than she thought she would. She loves the message of the entire series and each episode being its own story was a nice change.
The next show Dhani watched is Living With Yourself (Netflix) starring Paul Rudd. This is a serious take on the concept previously seen in the movie Multiplicity. It's really well told and a great way to enjoy Paul Rudd.
Next, Dhani wanted to touch on a few new shows that are back. The first is the second season of The Purge (USA). She really likes the way this season is going in that we are seeing the effects of The Purge throughout the following year. It's quite interesting and she can't wait to see what happens to these new characters.
The next show is Castle Rock (HULU) and in this second season we have an entirely new story that stars Lizzy Kaplan and Tim Robbins. Lizzy is actually playing a young Annie Wilkes... Kathy Bates' character fro Misery. And she is doing a superb job. Here we are seeing exactly what ails Annie and perhaps how she ends up being the person we know her to be in the future.
Finally, Dhani and John watched It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown this week. John hadn't watched it in decades and Dhani wanted to hear his thoughts on it after all this time. It's a classic and takes us back to a simpler time.

First, Dhani saw Zombieland Double Tap! She was so excited to see this sequel and was not disappointed. The next movie Dhani discusses is El Camino : A Breaking Bad Movie (Netflix). This was exactly what she didn't know she needed and thanks Vince Gilligan for making it.
The next movie Dhani watched was In The Tall Grass (Netflix). This is based on a Stephen King novella, but the movie did not live up to what she wanted. Another movie failed to live up to her expectations is Fractured (Netflix).
Moving on to TV Dhani wanted to talk about some more new shows that have started. First, she talks about Almost Family (FOX). She loves the cast and it started out well, but she is waiting to see if they can keep it interesting.
Next, Dhani discusses Batwoman (CW). Again, she likes the storyline, but is waiting for Ruby Rose to get used to her role on the show.
The next show Dhani talks about is Nancy Drew (CW). This is one of her favorite new shows this year and is recommending it to everyone!
Even though Arrow (CW) isn't a new show, because it is Dhani's favorite and it is ending (sad), she wanted to talk about the show's premiere and how wonderful it was.
The next new show Dhani wanted to talk about is Limetown (Facebook Watch). She loves this show! So much mystery and Jessica Biel is fantastic.
And finally, Dhani talks about The Politician (Netflix). She is struggling to finish the series and isn't sure of the point of it. But she does think she will finish eventually.

Another Netflix doc that Dhani watched was Hello, Privilege It's Me Chelsea from Chelsea Handler. This is a great documentary to watch that leads to alot of discussion and feels that everyone should watch and get real.
Moving to TV Dhani discusses the "reboot" of BH90210. She wishes they had done an actual reboot of the original, but it taking what she can get and hopes they do more! Next Dhani watched Criminal: UK (Netflix) and talks about the different iterations on Netflix and she hopes to watch them all. Next, John joins in as they discuss the return of Ghost Hunters (A&E) and their thoughts on the new team Grant has put together. And finally, they revisit Jane The Virgin and how John is still enjoying the show through the first season.

Then Dhani wanted to recommend the new show The Righteous Gemstones (HBO) to everyone even though we have only seen one episode!
That was all that Dhani had for new television... but she wanted to let everyone know that she is currently re-watching Orphan Black and how much she is still loving the show the second time around. Highly recommended to all!
Finally, Dhani convinced John to start watching Jane The Virgin, so she asked him to share his thoughts as they are only 12 episodes in.

We are finally back to our old format... with Dhani talking about all of the things she has watched. However, this week, she has to make up for the last 4 weeks of not producing a podcast, so she has a lot to cover!
First, she talks about On The Basis of Sex and the pure awesomeness of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Next, Dhani talks about the Netflix movies Someone Great and Unicorn Store. While they were both about the process of growing up and change, she preferred the story of Someone Great more. However both are enjoyable. Moving on to a documentary of YouTubePremium called Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story. Since Dhani is a superfan of *NSync, she really appreciated the insight gained from this behind the scenes doc. And finally, both John and Dhani watched the Netflix documentary Knock Down the House. This focuses on 4 women running for Congress in 2018 and following their grass roots campaigns.
Moving on to TV, Dhani wanted to visit some shows that have ended that she highly recommends. These are Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and You're The Worst. She was happy with the way both shows ended. Then Dhani talks about the second season of Cobra Kai on YouTubePremium and how much she truly loves this show! Being a fan of The Karate Kid, she is truly in heaven watching Johnny and Daniel battle again. Next Dhani talks about the Hulu show The Act. This is the story of DeeDee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. The show is good, but she recommends the documentary about this story first, called Mommy Dead and Dearest. We next discuss a new Netflix show called Dead To Me with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. They are so fantastic in this show and while it wasn't what Dhani thought it was, she loved it and hopes for a second season.
Finally Dhani felt the need to address the cancellation of Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. She loved the show so much and just wanted to let people know that it is still worth checking out what's streaming even though there won't be anymore.

After an unexpected week off, we have LOTS to cover for these two weeks. We try not to spend too much time on most of these things, but they still needed to be talked about.
First off, Dhani saw Us and gives it 5 stars! She explains as much as she can without spoiling the plot.
Next, she talks about the Netflix movie The Highwaymen and how surprised she was that she really enjoyed it and was enthralled in the story. Another Netflix film that both Dhani and John watched is The Dirt. The movie about Motley Crue. Neither really enjoyed it and thought there should have been more to the heart and soul of the movie.
Moving to TV, Dhani talks about the latest episodes released of Arrested Development. She has always liked the show and suggests people go back and watch from the beginning. The next series Dhani discusses is Catastrophe and it's 4th and final season on Amazon Prime. She has loved every episode of this show and advises that most people will enjoy it if they haven't watched it already.
Next, Dhani and John watched the HBO documentary The Inventor: Out for Blood, the story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. Dhani liked the details of the podcast on the same topic called The Dropout better than this documentary... but they both agree it was well done and worth watching.
The next series Dhani watched is The Disappearance of Maddie McCann. This is a very involved docuseries on Netflix diving very deep into the circumstances of Maddie's disappearance but also broadly into the child trafficking problems happening globally.
Another show on Netflix that both Dhani and John watched was Amy Schumer's standup special called Growing. This is a new chapter in Amy's life and she has handled the transition in a way which she is still hysterical and relatable.
The newest show Dhani has watched is the 3rd season of Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. This is one of her favorite shows in recent history. The cast is wonderful, but the situation and writing is so funny that she gets joy from watching this show. Highly recommended that everyone watch and enjoy!
Next, Dhani wanted to touch on some shows that are just starting. The first being The Act on Hulu. This is based on the Gypsy Rose Blanchard story and has been really good in the first 3 episodes. Moving on to Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Dhani was a huge fan of Pretty Little Liars and so far this show isn't as good... but she's sticking with it for the time being.
Another show that Dhani really wants to like is Whiskey Cavalier. She loves the cast and all of Bill Lawrence's previous shows.... but the dynamic of the hard female with the charming male is tired to her and she's not sure she can keep watching. :(
Finally, Dhani just wanted to make a public announcement that everyone needs to watch Season 15, episode 19 of Grey's Anatomy. This episode was important and something everyone needs to see, even if you have never watched any other episodes of this show.

First, Dhani finally saw Spider-man Into the Spider-verse. She really loved the animation and the story that brought all of the Spidey heroes together.
Next, Dhani talks about watching, through tears, Ben Is Back. She talks about how gut-wrenching it was, but also extremely well done.
The last movie is a smaller one called A Kid Like Jake. A good movie to watch that could lead to a good discussion.
Moving on to TV, Dhani talks, in probably too much detail, about the docuseries Lorena on Amazon Prime. She loved this series and appreciated that it is finally settling the truth to Lorena's story and hopefully making people realize what they should have all along.

This was a slow viewing week for Dhani, but they still managed to fill an hour with babbling on.
First, Dhani talks about the movie First Man. This turned into a long discussion about movies including personal stories when it might not be needed.
Next, John finally watched The House With The Clock In Its Walls, so he tells his point of view on this movie.
Moving to TV, Dhani and John watched the Netflix Comedy special, Ray Romano: Right Here, Around The Corner. They both didn't exactly appreciate Ray Romano before watching this, but really enjoyed this special!
Then Dhani talks about a show on A&E called Many Sides of Jane. A fascinating look into a young woman with Dis-associative Identity Disorder. Definitely worth watching to learn the truth behind this disorder.
Next, Dhani talks about the premiere of The Walking Dead and how amazing the start to the second half of the 9th season was!

Next, Dhani talks about a documentary on Netflix called Abducted in Plain Sight. This is tough subject matter, but it is quite a story that is a cautionary tale to all families.
Moving on to TV, Dhani first talks about the new show I Am The Night based on the true story of Fauna Hodel's autobiography. It looks to be an interesting series directed by Patty Jenkins.
The next show Dhani talks about is the live airing of RENT. Or the almost live production. Because this is her favorite musical, she was underwhelmed.
The next show we discuss is the ending of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Dhani really enjoyed the way it ended and feels it is one of the funniest shows ever.
Finally, Dhani watched a brand new show on Netflix called Russian Doll. She appreciates the female team of creators, writers, and directors because she believes that made the lead character, Nadia, feel more real with her trauma and the insane situation she finds herself in.

Next, Dhani talks about Bumblebee. Not a nominated film, but she keeps trying these movies in hopes she will enjoy it as much as the very first Transformers.
With 6 nominations, Dhani finally saw BlacKkKlansman. This is an up and down movie. Very entertaining but also very difficult to watch. Important for everyone to see and discuss. Next, Dhani talks about Widows. Great performances, but she felt like something was missing... not sure what yet. Finally, John and Dhani talk about the Best Picture nominations for the Oscars. Dhani is having a tough year with the award shows this season.

This week John and I go completely overboard in our fandom of M. Night Shyamalan!
First, Dhani saw Glass and talks about her love of Unbreakable and how Split and Glass have worked into the story. Honestly, she mostly talks about Shyamalan and her love of his filmaking.
Next, John and Dhani finally saw Bohemian Rhapsody. They both love Queen, but came out of this biopic with strong differences of opinion regarding the movie.
Next, Dhani saw The Nutcracker and The Four Realms. She enjoyed it much more than she thought, so that was a pleasant surprise. And the final movie Dhani saw is the Christmas movie, Anna and the Apocalypse. She loves musicals more than anything, so it's tough for Dhani to not enjoy this movie... even though it's campy, the music was good enough to carry through.
Moving on to TV, Dhani wanted to just touch on the new season of True Detective that just started. She really liked the first two episodes and it seems that this third season is already better than the second one was.
And finally, instead of an Actors' Corner this week, we decided to do a Directors' Corner and discuss the movies of M. Night Shyamalan. Stick with us in this section. We are huge fans of his, so we really get into details... but hopefully it's fun listening!

We start the new year with just a few new TV shows and some older movies.
First, Dhani talks about watching The Oath with Ike Barinholtz. She liked the content, even though it wasn't as funny as she thought it would be.
Next, she discusses a very heavy movie called Beautiful Boy. This film deals with drug addiction and the toll it takes on the addict as well as the family. Very well done and important viewing.
Next, John has caught up on some older movies, so he talks about his thoughts on Life Of The Party, Black Panther, and Game Night.
Moving on to TV, Dhani talks about the final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix. She loves this entire series and explains why. The topic of discussion is a surprise joy to both Dhani and John and that is the show The Masked Singer. They are both shocked at their interest and enjoyment of this show!

First, Dhani talks about the new Halloween movie and her overall disappointment with most horror movies. This one included.
Next, she talks about Venom. She felt it waivers from the usual Marvel formula a bit, but then catches on by the end.
Moving on to Smallfoot, Dhani surprisingly enjoyed this one more than she thought. Lately animated movies haven't been successful in getting her to stick with the movie, but this one kept her interested!
Finally, we wrap up the movie section with the new Netflix movie, Dumplin'. This was a typical message movie telling girls to love themselves no matter what, but it was entertaining and the characters were lovable and we care about them from the start.
Moving on to TV, John and Dhani superfan out on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The second season just came out and they binged it and fell in love all over again. Sorry for going on about this show, but we love it so much.
Next, we talk about another show that we both love... The Good Place. We are in the middle of the third season and just want to reiterate that everyone should be watching this show.
Lastly, Dhani talks about the HBO show that just ended called Camping. She really enjoyed the show with all of the interesting characters and the journeys they took over three days.

She thinks this is due to Eli Roth's direction, but also the performances were believable in an unbelievable world! Enjoyable film for all to see!
Next, Dhani watched The Happytime Murders. Yes, this has puppets... no, it's not for kids. But, Dhani found this movie really, really funny and thought the story was much better than she thought it would be!
Next, John and Dhani finally saw a movie that came out last year, Downsizing. Both of them discuss the slight disappoint in this movie and the storyline going to a really deep place that they weren't expecting.
Moving on to TV, Dhani felt it necessary to talk about The Walking Dead's mid-season finale and how amazing the show has become even without Rick Grimes. Then, John and Dhani gush about the special from this week, A Legendary Christmas with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. This was the best special Dhani has seen since she was a kid and it was a throwback to the old variety specials of yore.

This week, even though it is after Thanksgiving, we will spend some time on Thanksgiving entertainment.
First, John was able to watch Peppermint, and listen as he explains that he is finally coming around to liking Jennifer Garner.
Next, Dhani talks about the movie The Children Act. This doesn't take long because she was quite disappointed in the film. She still loves Emma Thompson, but the movie did not rise to meet her talent.
Then we move on the Netflix movie The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell as Santa Claus. Dhani really enjoyed this new take on the story of Santa and teaching kids to believe.
Then John and Dhani finally finished the latest season of the Great British Bake Off and they gush over this amazing season and the bakers on the show.
Last week Dhani forgot to list her favorite Thanksgiving movies, so she lists these even though the holiday is over. I think they work for the entire holiday season, so perhaps people can still enjoy them for the next few weeks anyway.
And finally, instead of an Actors' Corner this week, we are ranking our Top 5 Friends Thanksgiving episodes and comparing our choices to the podcast Pop Culture Nickel. This week was a very long week in real life... and it appears that this spilled over into the things that Dhani watched as well. This episode might seem too political for some listeners, but Dhani really feels that people can learn from TV and Movies, so please listen and make your decision about watching these things.
First, Dhani saw The Hate U Give. This is a harrowing story about a cop shooting a young, unarmed, black teen. While we have seen this story in real life way too many times, the movie talks about very important pieces to such a complicated situation. This is a movie that every person, and especially all young people should watch.
Next, Dhani watched the Netflix special, John Leguizamo's Lating History for Morons. She learned so much about the Latino history that has been wiped from our textbooks or culture. This is a very informative, but very funny show that everyone can enjoy. John Leguizamo is a fantastic teacher and storyteller.
Switching now to TV, Dhani touches on The Purge that just ended. She enjoyed the 10 episodes enough to recommend to those that enjoy the movies. Next, she talks about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and the overall arch of the 4 seasons and how much she is going to miss this original, funny, musical show.

First, Dhani talks about watching the movie The Darkest Minds. She liked the performances, but the story still lacked a bit of explanation. Next, Dhani talks about the documentary Three Identical Strangers and the horrific twist that these siblings discover about their lives and adoption story. It's quite fascinating and everyone should check out this movie.
Next, before moving on to TV, we talk about an exciting cross-promotion we are doing with another podcast called Pop Culture Nickel. Dhani gave them 5 thanksgiving epsiodes of Friends for them to rank on their podcast before Thanksgiving and then we will compare their rankings to our own. Listen to their promo and check them out!

We start off discussing the new standup special from Adam Sandler called 100% Fresh. We gush a little too much about this special as we both loved it so much.
Next, Dhani talks about a small movie called Juliet, Naked starring Ethan Hawke, Chris O'Dowd, and Rose Byrne. She enjoyed the story but knows that these types of movies aren't for most people. Then we both revisit Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again because John has been able to watch it now. Since Dhani was so crazy about this movie, she was disappointed that John didn't fall in love so quickly... though he tries to convince her that he did enjoy it.
Moving on to TV, Dhani only chose to discuss the BBC and Netflix series Bodyguard. She talks about the twists and turns in unfolding the story.
Finally, we decide not to do our usual Actors' Corner this week and instead use the same format to discuss our favorite scary movies. No new movies this week... but we still have a lot to talk about with pay-per-view movies and TV! First, I am getting John caught up on some summer movies that I already saw, so we start with The Spy Who Dumped Me and TAG. John gives his input on these movies. And no real surprise, he really enjoyed them both!
Next, I saw Searching and RBG and I give my thoughts on both. Searching is one of the best mystery movies I have seen in a while and I loved the twists and turns. And then RBG is a documentary that I recommend to every person in this country.
Moving on to TV, I give my opinion on this season of Better Call Saul. Then I watched the Netflix show The Haunting of Hill House. Very creepy, but ultimately a good family story. Next, I urge everyone to watch Arrow. This season's opener was so incredibly good and I think if you haven't watched the previous seasons, you could start watching now. It really is the best show in the Arrowverse.
Since the fall TV season is in full swing, I talk about my disappointment with the network shows (less all CW shows) and how I haven't found a new network show this year that I love. It's really a bummer because many I have already stopped watching and the others, if they were to be canceled, I wouldn't care. But there are many new cable and streaming shows that I am loving: Kidding, You, The Purge, Doctor Who and AHS:Apocalypse.
Did you know that I can read too??? I don't very often, but I love biographies and here I talk about a book that just came out this week by Busy Philipps called This Will Only Hurt A Little. It's a fantastic read and she tells the truth about her experiences in early life and then in Hollywood. Definitely recommended.
Finally, we finish with the Actors' Corner and this week we chose Denzel Washington. This was the toughest round we have had so far to choose his movies that we love, like, hate, haven't seen, and want to watch.

This week The Sinner, season 2, ended... so Dhani talks about her disappointment in this season as compared to the brilliant first season. Not a lot was watched this week, as TV has been very slow lately.... But Dhani still managed to come up with a handful of things she wanted to talk about.
Starting with Peppermint. You just can't beat Jennifer Garner kicking butt and getting revenge.
Next was a Netflix teen movie called Sierra Burgess is a Loser. It wasn't super entertaining, but perhaps kids would like it better?
Moving on to TV, Dhani and John discuss the finale of Making It and their wish for it to return with another season very, very soon! Then Dhani discusses a bit of disappointment in the Better Call Saul season so far. Next, a new show called The Purge started this past week and Dhani explains that she liked the start of it and compares it to the movies. And finally, John watched the Hannah Gadsby special Nanette and we discuss his thoughts it.
Since the new TV season is starting, Dhani ran down a list new shows starting this week that she is looking forward to, including: You, Kidding, Rel, AHS: Apocalypse, The First, and Forever.

This is a special off-schedule episode with my Mom, Peggy. As we all know, John does not like to watch or talk about the Real Housewives, so I enlisted my Mom to discuss the drama! First we dive into some general questions about our favorite and least favorite housewives are as well as our favorite moments in the past and who we would like to return to the franchise.
Then we discuss the current seasons of The Real Housewives of Potomac, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and then we saved the best for last and talked about The Real Housewives of New York.
My mom and I tend to disagree on most of these women and situations... so what better way to explore shows about arguing women than with listening to two more women debate those arguments???

What a week after returning to normal life after vacation. Dhani still managed to see The Spy Who Dumped Me. Then she made John watch Avengers: Infinity War. Listen to him describe his frustration with that ending! Then Netflix takes over the conversation as Dhani talks about the movie Like Father and series Orange is the New Black. This week Dhani welcomes very special guests! She speaks with her cousin Courtney, and Courtney's husband Brian.
All of us watch a lot of everything so we always have great conversations about what we are watching. We start off with getting Courtney and Brian's fav movies and tv shows. Then Brian breaks down Legion and Westworld in an effort to convince Dhani to watch both.
They saw Fallen Kingdom, so that is talked about a bit. Then we were able to discuss what their kids are watching or what is good for family viewing.
And finally, you will hear us just ramble about different things at the end as they usually do. But as always, there are movie quotes thrown in for fun! See if you catch them all!
