This Week in Caribbean Art and Culture is a weekly podcast dedicated to the culture of the Caribbean. Each week we discuss the art news of the region, interview exciting guests and give our favorite cultural gems to inform your week.
Artist Myrlande Constant from Haiti is the focus of a retrospective of her work at UCLA’s Fowler Museum. Born in and working in Haiti, Ms. Contant is know for her stunning and innovative work. For this episode we talk to the curators for Myrlande Constant: The Work of Radiance Jerry Philogene, associate professor of American Studies at Dickinson College, PA. And Katherine Smith, Fowler curatorial and research associate of Haitian arts.
Marina Reyes Franco, curator of the the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico joins us for a conversation about the exhibition she curated, Tropical is Political. Maria Elena Ortiz leads this conversation discussing Marina’s travels and her curatorial focus for the future.
