After spending a couple of weeks thinking this through, I’ve made the decision to stop producing new podcast episodes. A little more background… I have had a lot of my own personal development over the past month, which has been an amazing experience. I’m still coaching myself every day and using all of the tools that I’ve shared, but I’m also exploring the next phase of my purpose to “make life simply better." As a result, I’m ending this chapter of Life Simply Better and looking forward to what’s next.

It has been my honor to connect with you through this podcast over the past year. I want each of you to know that you have everything you need to take your own “next steps” and I wish you all an amazing future!

So, until we meet again, thank you for listening and all the best.

Probably the most common question I get around my planning system is, “But what about when unexpected things come up? In this episode, I’m going to give you three tips to help you create a predictable work schedule even if your role is filled with surprises and urgent requests.

What would you do with 100 extra hours? Think of the sleep you could get, the work you could catch up on, the Netflix you could watch, or the lazy “chill” time that you could spend with your kids. Considering how little margin many of us have in our lives between work, family, and general adulting - 100 hours could be huge. For me, this extra margin meant I was able to follow my dream of creating this podcast without changing jobs or waiting for my kids to grow up. And the great news is, extra time is right there waiting for you to take it! In this episode we’ll talk about three easy, practical ways that you can get 100 extra hours this year.

In this episode I’m sharing five things that it is OK for you to stop caring about, along with some examples from my own life.

How do you know when you’re ready to start living your purpose? Many of us think that we’ll be ready once we have more time, start a more “purposeful career,” or when inspiration finally strikes. Today we are covering how to change your feeling. Emotions are a powerful component of our lives because they determine our experience of our lives. Feeling love or feeling annoyed are two very different experiences. Emotions are also important because they create our results. Emotions create the energy that fuels us to take action - and those actions ultimately create the results that we have in our lives. Emotions are just central to everything. We've talked in other episodes about emotions and creating balance and how to allow your emotions. Today we'll go one step further and talk about how to change your emotions, how to actually create new emotions in the moment that feel better and serve you better, and create better results in your life.

Loving your life feels amazing and produces even more great results. I will give you some really concrete tips on how to love your life, not just in the big picture but also in the moment. We'll cover three things in your life that I think are great and amazing to love. One is loving yourself. One is loving other people, especially when they're frustrating you or annoying you. And the third is loving what is even when things aren't going to plan, even when it feels like a struggle.

Are you living a life of luxury? Your experience of your life is based on the story you tell about it, not your circumstances. Even though we have access to amazing luxury in our lives (hot water and electricity, not to mention iphones!), we don’t always choose to tell that story. Do you feel undeserving of abundance, or like taking more for yourself makes you selfish and greedy? While thoughts like these may seem well intentioned and generous, they can end up robbing us of appreciating the luxuries we already have, and of realizing our full potentials.

Mastering emotions is key to a well lived life for two reasons: The emotions we feel determine our experience of life - in fact, the only reason we want anything in life is because of how we think we will feel when we get it. Forced Positive Thinking is a trap that I see many new coaching clients fall into. Learning the Self Coaching Model opens up a world of possibility, but it is often misused to try to force happiness. When we learn that our thoughts create our feelings, and that we can choose our thoughts, we gain access to feeling better and doing better in the world. But we also need to recognize that we can't change every single thought we have in a day - even with the best coaching, we are still human.

I also see people drop into forced positive thinking as a way to try and control their feelings and results, but instead of making them feel better, it often just leads to berating themselves for not thinking the thoughts they "should" be thinking, or holds them back from pursuing what they really want in life. In this episode, we'll talk about how to recognize forced positive thinking, and a better alternative for creating true happiness in your life.

Your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you have, and part of that is the ability to honor commitments to yourself.  Often, we don’t treat ourselves as importantly as others, but if you form a good relationship with yourself it will be projected into all of your other dealings in life.  We make a commitment to ourselves, but struggle to honor them. How many times have you blocked off your calendar to get caught up on something and then not done it? It’s the last episode in 2018 and today I wanted to share an open letter from me to you, as you wrap up the holiday season and start to think about the new year. You may have spent your December running around and making sure that everyone else’s wish list was covered off, so now we’re going to talk about your wish list. What do you want most in life, and did you know that you can have it?

So first I’m going to read the letter, which is something I wrote when I was setting up my website but didn’t end up publishing… but I want to share it with you now because it summarizes the purpose I feel in trying to help other busy working moms. After I read the letter (which is short!) we’ll talk a little bit more about how to create what you want in life.

Being able to ask for what you want - clearly, directly, and without apologizing halfway through - is an incredible tool to master.  And it’s something that I was pretty terrible at for the first 35 years of my life, so in this episode I want to share how I learned to ask for things.  Many times when we feel resentful or like we are being taken advantage of, we think we need to take a stand and set boundaries. But here’s what surprised me when I examined these situations in my own life: often I had never asked (out loud and explicitly) for what I wanted in the first place.  And all I had to do was ask. We’ll also talk about the magic of asking yourself for what you want - and answering “Yes.”

All we really want is to feel good.  We might think we want a lot more than that - the perfect job, a happy family, or a chic new wardrobe.  But there is only one reason that we want anything in life. We want things because of how we think we’ll feel when we get them.  A job that makes us feel fulfilled, a family that makes us feel proud, or new clothes that make us feel attractive. So how much simpler would it be to cut-out the middleman and just focus on feeling good?  In this episode, we’ll talk about what we really want in life and how to get it… and we’ll talk about how focusing on feeling good first can still create spectacular results in the rest of your life.

A simple life requires simple thoughts.  When life feels crazy busy and overwhelming, we try to simplify by changing our external circumstances.  We think decluttering our homes, learning how to say no, and eating whole foods will give us the simple relaxed life we crave.  But, in fact, creating a simple life is much simpler than that. The only thing you need to do is to simplify your thinking. Let go of “busy head” and learn how to stop your mind from running a million miles an hour.  In this episode, we’ll talk about why simplicity starts in your head and the first easy steps you can take to simplify your life from the inside out.

But even if you don’t consider yourself to be “ambitious” or career focused, make sure to tune in. Because these are the same habits that I believe hold many women back from living their true purposes and creating the relaxed simple lives they crave.
