This week we get honest about why one income stream is now too close to zero for salon professionals and why retail and e-commerce need to be part of your legacy plan.
Inspired by a powerful panel of barbers and beauty pros, you'll here a breakdown of why relying on staff as your “second stream” is risky, how quickly things can change when your body can’t work, and why Shopify is one of the most accessible ways to create income that isn’t tied to your hands.

In recent years, we have seen a huge rise in the popularity of dreadlocks; they have become a symbol of freedom and stylistic beauty for many. This has led to an increased demand for stylists who specialize in dreadlocks, yet despite this visibly growing trend, there are still no standards regulating this area of the professional cosmetology industry. Without these guidelines, stylists and clients can find themselves in a dangerous situation, as there are no regulations or protections for the quality of the work being done.
It’s not just about protecting the clients either. Not having a standard for the quality of dreadlocks also limits the potential of the stylists who specialize in this category as they are unable to show off their skills and mastery of the craft.
In this episode, Yvette Miller, owner of Nappy Headz and Sista Loc’z, shares her journey of over 20+ years in the natural hair industry. She discusses how following her calling as allowed her educate not only professionals in the industry but also empower the young girlish her area to build beauty businesses and make a living doing what they love.
