In this episode, we look at how the religious leaders attempt to trap Jesus with a political question about paying taxes to Caesar. But Jesus, with divine wisdom, exposes their hypocrisy and reframes the issue altogether.

Rather than setting government against God, Jesus reminds us that even governing authorities exist under God’s sovereign rule. The coin may bear Caesar’s image, but humanity bears God’s. Our ultimate allegiance belongs to Him.

As citizens of heaven, we live in this world but not of it. Christ’s answer points forward to the coming new heavens and new earth, where God’s authority is fully manifest. Until then, we render to Caesar what is his, but far more importantly, we render to God what is His—our hearts, our lives, our worship.

This week, we unpack a powerful and sobering message centered on the withering of the fig tree in Mark 11, and what it reveals about dead religion, man-made systems, and the all-sufficient work of Christ.

Jesus invites us into life. Not a life of bitterness or striving, but one of dependency on Him because he alone gives life. He says: “Do not eat of that fruit again.” Will you place your faith in Christ’s work alone today?

This sermon from Mark 11:1–11 calls us to examine how our trust in performance, reputation, and prosperity chokes out true faith. Christ did not come to support our idols, but to replace our hearts of stone with hearts made alive by grace. The Gospel takes root in the soil of surrender, not pride. Only when we lay down our self-sufficiency and submit to the King who came to die can we truly live.

Are you weary of the sin that so easily entangles—selfishness, anger, anxiety, and the endless striving for significance in the eyes of the world? This past Sunday, we opened Mark 10:32–52 and were reminded of the cry that flows from a heart awakened by grace: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. I want to see You. I want to follow You.”

In this text, we see not the strength of man, but the mercy of Christ. It is not our desperation that saves us, but the sovereign compassion of the King who hears and responds. When we are brought low in repentance and look to Christ in faith, He opens our eyes—not merely to see, but to behold Him as our all-satisfying treasure. He is perfectly worthy, infinitely glorious, and sufficient for all our need.

This Sunday, we reflect on Jesus’ teaching in Mark 10:13–31 and are reminded of a foundational truth: salvation is by grace alone, not by anything we contribute. Christ did not save us because of our morality, our status, or our works. We bring nothing to the table but our need.

Like the children brought to Jesus, we come empty-handed. Like the rich young ruler, we are confronted with the idols we cling to—status, wealth, self-righteousness—and called to lay them down. The gospel demands our total surrender.

This passage calls us to repent of trusting in ourselves and to rest fully in the sufficiency of Christ. Let us cast off our worldly ambitions and self-importance. Let us cling to one call, and one call alone: All we have is Christ.

This Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from one of our elders, Pastor Logan Garrett, as he walked us through Mark 10:1–12, where Jesus teaches about divorce. As Christians, we're called to take marriage seriously while striving to be faithful in our commitments, reflecting the way God is always faithful to us.

This week’s sermon focused on how Christians are called to live differently from the world. True followers of Christ are marked by valuing people who offer no advantage to us, resisting the pull of comparison, competition, and self-promotion. Instead of seeking status, Christians seek to see others joined to Christ. Listen to the full sermon today!

This week we continued our sermon series through Mark as Pastor Matt walked through Mark 9:30–37. In this passage, we see the disciples struggling to understand Jesus—more focused on their own desires than their true need for Him. How often do we do the same? In what ways are we tempted to reshape Jesus into the kind of King we want, rather than submitting to the one He truly is? And what keeps us from fully embracing His mission for our lives? Continuing in our Advent series entitled, "From Heaven He Came and Sought Her" we see the pattern continue. Jesus followed his people from the presence of God all the way into death, and we will follow Him out of the grave and back into the presence of God. One with Himself, I cannot die. My soul is purchased by His blood, so my life is hid with Christ on high, my Savior and my God.

Continuing in our Advent series, "From Heaven He Came and Sought Her" Jesus continues in this movement, chasing after His people. In Genesis 3, death is introduced to the world and right away, God reveals that He will send Someone to do something about it. This is the last week in our Everyday People sermon series; Pastor Matt is talking about the unexpected beauty we find that God built into the prescribed christian life through the church. We find this unexpected beauty as we purposefully commit to the Lord, His Word, the Family, and the Family Business because it points us back to Himself- our ultimate good.

View Details

Being purposefully committed to the family business is our last measure of how we live as everyday people revealing the unxpected beauty of a life committed to Christ in all we do. Jesus made disciples that made disciples. We follow his example- this is part of the Christian life.

Our next measure of being "everyday people" would be that we are committed to our local church family. God has prescribed a way that christians are to be supported by one another and belong to each other, and that takes place in church membership.

He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 and 1 John 4:8 that God is love, and to be part of the unity of God and being one with him, He requires us to love eachother with God-taught brotherly love following the example of the Trinity.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 3:6-10 and 1 Corinthians 15. The resurrection of the dead frees us from the bondage of living our best life now. Because this is not the only life you get to live, then you can live on purpose now.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5. Do we often communicate suffering as a part of the Christian life when we talk to people? The true Gospel says that to be a Christian is to suffer, and that when the Lord is our treasure, suffering is painful and joyful.

This Easter Sunday, Pastor Matt preaches about the "upside down triumph that turned the world upside down." He teaches out of Mark 15:1-39 and Psalm 22. The resurrection that we celebrate signifies the defeat of death and gives us assurance of our future. We win. The world is upside down.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20. Christians do not let their minds dwell on the wrongdoings of others. People are going to sin against you. We seek to call them to repentance or share the gospel with them. Then they are turned to our glory.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 2:13-16. The great stumbling block to domesticate the gospel is comfort. The insidious idol of comfort reigns in our culture and teaches us false gospels. When the true gospel of God takes root in us, it enables us to suffer, to be uncomfortable, and to do what Christians do.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12. Jesus lived a life that was inconvenienced for those weaker than him. We follow in Jesus' footsteps when we love those that are not as strong or disciplined as us.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 2:1-6. It is not us, our performance and our ability to follow the rules, that make our evangelism work. The counterintuitive embrace of our own weakness and dependence is the way the glory of God will shine in and through us. We know that the gospel is powerful because we ourselves have been brought from darkness into his marvelous light.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10. What are we waiting for? Because believers are in Christ, death is not the end. What we are waiting for is far better. Jesus raised, and so when you die, you will raise. We don't look back, we look ahead.

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10. The church at Thessalonica did not just preach the word, they lived it out and turned from idols. Because you are blind to your idols, you need a Savior to open up your eyes. God convicts but also uses other people to expose your blind spots.

We don't look solely at one moment, but we look at moments. We don't worry if we did it right, but we look at the power of the cross in our lives. Have confidence!

This week Pastor Matt continues in our new sermon series in 1 and 2 Thessalonians. He teaches out of 1 Thessalonians 1:4-6. "Ekklesia" all throughout the Old Testament is used to describe God's chosen people, the Church, gathering together. When Paul refers to the Christians of Thessalonica as an "ekklesia," it is meant to remind them that they are "in Christ." In the midst of persecution and suffering, they can be encouraged and comforted because their salvation is secure as God's chosen people.

But as believers, we are in Christ - meaning He has made us one and sons of God with him.
