The shamanism of Inuit Greenland - the angakkoq shamans - had a reputation for quite dark shamanism and fearful spirits, which stalked the land and attacked people. The shamans - and other people - could also create spirit fetishes, called tupilak, which could come alive and be sent out to kill rivals and enemies.
This podcast explores the practices of the indigenous people of Greenland.

The Djinn spirits are often associated with Islam, but they of course are far, far older. Considered a race of beings who live out of sight of humans, their magic is called upon to aid people, but they can also harm people.
The Tuareg people of the Sahara Desert have a long history of magic regarding them and the other spirit beings of the desert, and they like to protect themselves from the Djinn.

In the Himalayas, in the Greater Tibetan world - the lands outside of Chinese occupied Tibet, which have Tibetan include cultures - Buddhism is the main spiritual practice, but before Buddhism came there the lands were shamanistic, and shamanism - often with a veneer of Buddhism - still exists.
Padmasambhava was an C8th Buddhist teacher born in Pakistan, who trained with both Buddhist lamas and no-Buddhist shamans, and travelled all over Pakistan, India and Nepal. He was a rekown tantric magician.
He went to Tibet and brought Buddhism there, mixing all the tantric Buddhist magic he had mastered and when he went to Tibet he mixed it with the shamanism there, producing the unique magical tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
The shamans in Tibet consider Padmasambhava the founder of their shamanic lineages.
