Marc Hodulich is an endurance athlete, entrepreneur, husband, & father of two boys. He is a master at expanding his hobbies into successful businesses. He combined his love of running and love of social beer drinking and came up with the Beerfit Running Series, which includes the famous Brew Mile.
More recently, Marc and good friend, Jesse Itzler (featured in an earlier LTD Episode) came up with a very unique idea, that has since taken off, called 29029:
"There's no greater height on earth than Mount Everest, so we built the event around getting the vertical height of Everest: 29,029 feet. It’s a weekend retreat combined with an endurance event. To complete the challenge, you have 36 hours to hike the mountain, take the gondola down and repeat as many times as possible. We loved the concept because it is a more inclusive opportunity for a wide range of people to share in the benefits of endurance sport."
Most importantly, Marc makes sure to manage his time wisely, maintaining a balance between work & family. In this episode it is evident that Marc is an incredibly engaged, loving, and reflective husband and father.

Part 2 of this episode is just a short explanation, from the Show Host, Tyler Ross, about why there was an abrupt ending to Susan's interview (Episode 201, Part 1). Considering the basis of Learning to Dad with Tyler Ross, the reason behind her having to leave the interview early, could not be more appropriate and telling of the type of parent Susan is, and the role mothers play in their child's life. There is no "time off" from parenting.
Susan is an author of two memoirs, a magazine editor, and an advocate for autism and mental health. She is the mother of two men, one of which has high-functioning autism. She also hosts a popular YouTube show called "Flaws are the New Black," and very recently won the opportunity to give a TED Talk at TEDx Tysons, this coming Fall.
Not only is Susan an accomplished writer with a brilliant & creative mind, but she is an incredibly present, loving, and supportive mother to her two adult sons. She is funny, self-assured, empathetic, and admirably intentional. She is the type of person that you want to be friends with...if you aren't already.
From Ronnie's website:
Ronnie Ross is a teacher, coach, and school administrator who lives in western Loudoun County. Ronnie and his wife Josie have one child: Ronnie. Jr. In fact, it was the birth of his son and the encouragement of his wife that convinced Ronnie to run. He became deeply anxious about the world we were creating--and leaving--not just for little Ronnie, but for all of our children. When he mentioned to Josie that it would be difficult to run with an infant in the household, she responded with words he would never forget: “That’s fine. It will be hard. But, when it feels like too much, you can always just look into your son’s eyes and know why you’re doing this.”
He has specifically chosen to raise his family here in Virginia, having fallen in love with the land and its people. Ronnie grew up in Appalachia, on the Ohio side of the mountain, the son of two public school teachers. There, his parents ingrained the values of hard work and toughness, but also of compassion and empathy. Most of all, they instilled the value of community. Ronnie found these same values on this side of the mountain, and he has eagerly decided to make his life here. He and his family attend Holy Cross Abbey and they are also active members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where Ronnie is a member of its School Advisory Board.
