Picking up the pace in the mid section with clever sonics and a tough bass, the break is a real oasis of sound that brings with it a sense of bliss and calm. With back catalogues spanning a wide selection of impressive labels, the meeting of minds on show here is simply amazing. Tomy broke onto the scene back in 2008 and hasn’t taken his foot off the gas since; over 200 releases and counting! Maximillion returns to Asymmetric with a new ep titled ‘It's all gonna be ok, Clint’, backed up by remixes from Sabura and Takiru. As the name implies, the ep is full of contrasts, optimism and bittersweet sounds. As he always tries to combine melodic and atmospheric sounds while keeping the rhythm catchy, Maximillion bends the boundaries between obscure electronica and early morning club feeling. Sabura remixes Morgendämmerung and he utilities intensity and drive as his prime tools, while Takiru gives ‘It's all gonna be ok, Clint’ an organic feel with tons of charm and groove.

The original is a tasty deep melodic quirky workout, oozing of coolness, and a few curveball chord changes to play with your mind, that take this gem in to the mind melting category, while still remaining deep and flavourful.
The remixes kick off with Edgar Peng (who has released on Rural and URSL) adds a swagger and some tasty percussion, while Men-D (Tenampa, Traum and Asymmetric fave) adds a big emotive bassline and delivers a dramatic reworking.
A second original track 'Pale Blue' adds additional musical layers to the package, and this is a rounded phat slab of musical mayhem and brilliance. While Arnie Spremberg adds a punchy melodic proggy edged driving rework.

Lonya’s Asymmetric Recordings rounds out a successful year with a new single from Made In TLV & Amitre. Hailing from Tel Aviv, Made In TLV have had a great 2018 with releases on Sudam and Inhale Records. Now closing out the year on an even greater note they team up with Amitre for their debut collaboration ‘Roads’ alongside remixes from Subandrio and Mark Brainford.
Quite modern in design, ‘Roads’ incorporates a wide array of elements making it a unique cross pollinated creation. It’s tight punchy framework, ethnic motifs and organic drums create a wonderful sense of space for it’s sleek melodic storyboard. A touch grandiose at times yet expertly pulled back for moments of rhythmic tension, particularly during a second act highlighted by a smart tonal theme.
The first interpretation of ‘Roads’ is provided by Asymmetric label artist Subandrio. Widely regarded as Sri Lanka’s premiere progressive house producer, the Colombo resident has also found a home on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Cid Inc’s Replug Records. Now following releases on Beatfreak Recordings and OLD SQL Recordings, Subandrio returns to Asymmetric with a stellar rendition of ‘Roads’. The melodic sensibilities from the original translate quite well here and with a beefed up framework it sits nicely in the peak time progressive arena. The main arp really stands out across the first act, fluid and effervescent in feel, it’s cosmic appeal perfectly sets up a dreamy mid-section and emotive finale.
The release concludes with Mark Brainford returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Roads’. The Ukrainian artist first appeared on the Israeli imprint in June of this year with a contribution to the label’s ‘High Season’ collection. His take on ‘Roads’ sits as a nice complement to the previous two versions with it tough, crunchy design. From intense beginnings comes a poignant almost hauntingly cinematic break. This shift in narrative is not only hugely emotive but paves the way for an exhilarating finale. It rounds out what is not only a great release for Asymmetric but caps off what has been a sensational year for the Israeli imprint, and with Lonya and Maydan at the helm 2019 will no doubt be ever better.

Never one to shy away from a good melody, Han Haak joins the Asymmetric family with the impressive ‘Genetic Drift’. Remixes come from label favorites Maydan and Danny Lloyd. The mysterious Han Haak has found his music grace a number of high profile labels including Sudbeat, Selador and Hope Recordings. In its original form, Genetic Drift is a powerful peak-time groover full of raw energy, passion and drive. Anton Make remixes DJ Beat2 's 'Growling Groovy Machines', and adds a skippy vibe to proceedings, and takes some of the craziness back a bit, adding layers of warmth as we go hypnotic, yet with plenty of power .

'Eternal' is a mysterious bubbling melodic number that grooves along, with a bit of a swagger, as cool fx and trippy edged merge wonderfully in to its soundscape.

It is evident from the first moment that we step into Big Show's world that conflicts and paradigms are essential part of it, and that he is not afraid to expose them and speak about them in a clear and loud voice. There are many paths that his first solo album can take you - the listener, and so many clues are presented on the way, but its for you to interpret them. Big Show is not trying to be nice and compromising, he is also not focusing on creating a coherent picture. So while his thoughts and imaginary are his own, this album will present an abstract and overwhelming realm, in which there are just no rules.
