Through our relationship with Jesus Christ, we find the strength and courage to be all in. Erin and her husband Paul are the founders and Pastors at Hope Community Christian Church. A little time has passed, but we are back and ready to catch up with you all. Sifting through the experiences of the last two months, I found an unexpected theme that I don’t believe is by accident but God-ordained. Let’s dive deep!
After watching a social media post, I felt outrage and then felt like I couldn’t stay quite on the topic. This is a deep one, folks, but I can’t sit back when I have a voice and not use it for those who don’t. Please know this podcast is not suitable for children.
“Then I prayed.” Nehemiah finds himself asking God for favor from the king he serves. It was a quick prayer that I like to call an “ arrow prayer”. A quick communication with God that shows we have no control, but He does. Tune in to unpack this topic.
Life gives us lots of lessons. It seems like we just don’t slow down long enough to review what we just experienced, therefore missing the things we could have learned. After a crazy weekend preparing for Mother’s Day, I took a moment and found insight as I reviewed the craziness of the weekend.

After a challenging morning, I found comfort in a supportive community around me. It made me think that we want community, but we often don’t give community to others. So I thought, let’s talk about it and, of course, see what the word had to say also.
Now we all know I’m no expert on grammar, but I have been reminded recently that when it comes to life, we are quick to place exclamation points when life is hitting us. The thing is, we aren’t the author; therefore, it’s not our right to place the punctuation. God likes commas and is really good at placing them since He is the author of our stories.
It seems everywhere I turn I’m hearing of a situation of someone putting boundaries in place. Now this can be a good thing and necessary in some cases but it seems to be if we have a difference in opinions, need to protect our peace, needs ,space and emotions we set a boundary the second that is crossed. So I felt to dive into what does the word say and how did Jesus respond to these kinds of people? The answer might surprise you!
Despite Samson being a hero of faith, I think his life is more about instruction of what not to do. Part 2 of this series leaves us with some pretty sobering thoughts and opportunities for reflection. Diving deep often leaves us in spaces to take account of things in our own lives.
As promised we are diving into Samsons life. I read a line about Samson that described his life as “Unfulfilled Potential”. I felt to pursue that thought and see how that affects us as well in our lives. Get ready to do some soul searching but also encouragement at the goodnes of God despite ourselves.
We need to catch up after an extended amount of time off. So excited to be back with you and dive into “2026”. This New Year didn’t start off the way I planned, it has left me in a place of feeling very out of control of my life. I’ve learned a lot already through this all and look forward to unpacking it with you and hopefully a nice hot cup of coffee!
All the Lefties this one is for you! Just kidding it’s for everyone! We are going to keep it going from our study in Joshua and see what we can glean from Judges! There are promises, broken covenants, consequences, judgment, crying, judges , and a left handed person just to name a few things!
I can’t wait to share this story of a father and daughter whose account is tucked into Joshua 14 and 15. I can’t pinpoint one lesson so we are going to take both and dive into what we can learn from this duo.
With all that’s happening in the world lately you may feel like you want to crawl under a rock and hide. We could do that, or we could be inspired by those who are being bold for the name of Jesus. I know none of you have ever been offended (yeah right) but I have and was led to read a book called Unoffendable. While I didn’t like the book in the beginning (because it offended me) I quickly found it spoke truth to my offense and helped me walk in freedom.
There are statements that you hear that just hit extremely deep. Hearing a podcaster ask for prayer that the conviction of their faith would stand in the face of what the world tells us hit me like a ton of bricks. I invite you to dive deep with me as we discuss staying faithful to our convictions in a world that constantly defies what Gods word tells us.
Sorrow is one of the most interesting spaces we can find ourselves in. Even though we mourn with hope as believers, it still is uncharted waters. After my mom went to be with Jesus I have found myself in this space and am doing this episode to navigate in some way what my heart feels. Thanks for being on this journey with me.

Who would have thought a couch could teach you so much. In my case I’ve leaned some valuable lessons and of course what better place to share them than this podcast! Just when we started basking in our couches beauty she quickly showed us her foundation was junk! Kind of of like our lives when we build it on anything other than the rock.
After our trip to Bolt Farms in Tennessee, I noticed some things in myself and others along the way. Three standouts were rest, reflect and reconnect. I look forward to sharing our trip and those God moments with you and hopefully it will inspire you to see God in your daily lives.

This year I have had a new desire to really immerse myself into Jesus’ journey to the cross, starting with Jesus being in the Garden of Gethsemane. I can’t wait to share what has really transformed my view of Good Friday and invite you to be beckoned as well by the crucifixion with the hopes of it drawing you to respond.
We head back into Joshua 7 and look at it from a different perspective. Last podcast we looked at Joshua’s defeat and tantrum, now we will uncover Achan’s sin and discover how it affected not only him but the entire Israelite army.

I recently embarked on the journey of putting this spiritual practice in place and I want to share my journey with you in the hopes it inspires you to take the journey as well. It requires going deep but we are used to that so let’s go!

We wrap up our series on women in Christ genealogy with Mary. Seems fitting to end this with the mother of Jesus. Mary carries one of the biggest secrets ever… she will give birth to the Messiah! She raises Him, loves and nurtures Him only to watch Him give His life for the world! I think we can glean a lot from her and at the same time have a new appreciation for Jesus mama!
What comes to mind when we hear the name Bathsheba? Is her name tainted in our minds? I’ll be honest my mind has often gone there with her… until I dove into her story. I believe it’s one filled with more than sin and adultery but one filled with redemption and restoration.
By Ruth… her resolve to be a dedicated daughter -in-law in the face of extreme challenges is unmatched. God rewards her faithfulness in more ways than one and includes her in His lineage to top it off. One of my favorite stories and hopefully one of yours as well after you take in her story.
We move onto the second person named in Christ lineage… Rahab, also known as Rahab the harlot. Even though she has led the life of a prostitute there is something about the Israelite’s God who pulls at her heart which opens her up to be used mightily in the story of Jerichos demise.

I have really enjoyed taking a passage of scripture and taking each verse and diving into it. With Palm Sunday approaching I wanted to have a better understanding of what this Sunday meant. My hope is that through this podcast we will have more of a connection with this “holiday."
Because I didn’t want to consider myself “getting older” it made me continuously put off going to the eye doctor. Not wanting to be told I needed glasses had me in the dark on my eyesight. But after getting my new specs I learned that having my eyesight corrected was for my good. Maybe there is something you're putting off that if you allow the correction needed, it will be for your good as well.
Have you ever looked up the percentage of something? I’ve looked it up when I have needed to compare, measure or calculate something or a situation. It’s not always very favorable and they often effect us negatively. But I don’t think they have too and God doesn’t seem to be bothered by them. I actually think He wants to show us what He can do despite what we see.

I will say I am probably the least equipped person to talk to you about football, but after an incredible season by the Detroit Lions I have found a valuable lesson after their tragic loss to have a chance at playing in the Super Bowl. I have really been struggling. Specifically with the lack of repentance of someone who was close to me who wronged me. I’ve wrestled with it so intensely until a verse jumped off the page as I was doing my Bible reading in Jeremiah. It brought the struggle to a resting point and helped me navigate these very murky waters!
After sending my daughter to Tennessee to begin her new journey of life I found myself on the struggle bus. Then I remembered we hadn’t finished Luke 2 which talks about Mary and Joseph dedicating Jesus and raising Him. I found comfort in them navigating being parents and found some similarities that eased my parental fears. I am thankful for God including their moments that help us as we go through ours.

After being bamboozled I’ve been pretty sensitive to people telling the truth. Luke gets me. He starts of Luke Chapter 1 with telling us that he himself has carefully investigated everything that he is about to tell us. The story leading up to Jesus birth and His birth are actual events! I’m here for it! Join in on his account of our Savior’s birth!
This is our 150th episode recorded and produced! We celebrate that despite the fact we received information that made us have to pull one of our past episodes. This was an extremely hard episode to do but in keeping with what we believe our purpose is we felt we needed to expose a lie. Our hope is that despite that lie we see Jesus and are reminded that He is truth even when man lies. We are diving deep so take a deep breathe and let’s go.
As sad as I am to wrap up this series on Ruth I am excited to bring it all together. We will see God’s hand in the history of this story and the correlation of Boaz being Ruth’s kinsmen-redeemer to Jesus being ours.
Ruth 3 sure doesn’t disappoint. We can learn from Ruth’s willingness to be a hard worker. Naomi’s perspective changing which caused a shift in attitude. Believing without seeing which Jesus says is blessed and honorable. Naomi’s wisdom on how Ruth should approach Boaz and Boaz’s response to Ruths request! Be ready to learn along the way!

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. Since it’s so long it would be easy to read it mindlessly but, after being tempted to do that myself, we are going to see what we can glean from this chapter. We couldn’t dive in properly in one episode so this will be a two part episode.
My husband recently talked about Barnabus in the Bible and how he was such an encourager. A trait that seems simple but maybe a little harder to execute. This week I got to be a witness to a situation that left me humbled but encouraged in the pursuit of becoming a “Barney.” I hope to encourage you as well!

I was raised as a kid with the Bill Gothard teachings so watching the series Shiny Happy People hit home on so many levels. In this podcast I am going to share my take on the cult that is IBLP and how digging into my past has explained so much about how I grew up. This is my story and my perspective.
I recently watched the docuseries, Shiny, Happy People and The Secrets of Hillsong. Afterwards I found myself saying enough is enough of the church covering up misconduct and leaving the victims out to dry. We have to do better. Not an easy subject but one I believe that unless we dive into it we won’t make the changes necessary to advocate and protect victims.
Recently I was sitting in a court room again and as I sat there filled with anxiety and a significant amount of emotions, I began to pray for the Judge. I prayed for Solomon’s wisdom to be shown to the judge as he heard the case and gave his ruling. Solomons wisdom was given by the Lord to have knowledge and a discerning heart something we all can learn from and apply to our lives.
Culture is setting the direction of where we are headed in so many areas of life. But does culture align with God’s word? When faced with hard decisions in life are we consulting our emotions and influenced by what the world thinks we should do or, are we consulting the Bible to give us direction to walk uprightly ? This podcast will hopefully give you some food for thought as we navigate the world we live in.

I got to experience the most fascinating thing recently…. Court! Now before you go thinking I got in trouble, I was there as a bystander. I want to share my experience and how it got me thinking about how we are guilty but someone was willing to step up to the plate and take our punishment!
Jesus was brought a women caught in the act of adultery and expected to condemn her for her sin. What is His response? He simply tunes out her accusers and tells them the only way they can stone her is if they have no sin in their lives. Talk about a mic drop! I’m excited to dive into this section of scripture with you and learn how we can become more like Jesus!

Gold starts off as a lump (called dore). Not what we think of when we think of the shiny metal that catches our eye. We also start off as a lump and it’s a process in the refiners fire to become gold. So how do we become that 24k and what do we need to allow in order for that to happen. It hit me as I was reading the account in Luke 1 that Mary the mother of Jesus, had some amazing characteristics. So much so I felt we needed to dive into who she was and what we could learn from her as she was told the news that she had been chosen to give birth to the Messiah. Things are going pretty well for Joshua the leader of the Israelites. He’s crossed into the promise land, conquered Jericho and in comparison to those big things, needs to make a small decision to make a treaty with some foreigners. Seems simple enough, or is it? Maybe not because Joshua finds himself in a heap of trouble all because he “didn’t inquire of the Lord!” Sound familiar? Chances are it does so let’s dive in and see what we can learn.
Moses sends 12 spies into the land that God has promised the Israelites. I’m sure they all couldn’t wait to hear what they were going to acquire. Ten of them at first, report how good it is but it quickly turned into that they could not attain it. So much panic set in they were unable to hear the good other two guys report that God was going to give them the land despite how overwhelming it seemed. We all get reports… whose report will we believe? And are there consequences for believing the wrong one?
Goliath is a giant who is quite intimidating! There he stand at 9ft tall, covered in bronze, yelling insults day after day. The Israelite army is left feeling intimidated and dismayed. Sound familiar at all? We may not face physical giants but we sure do have ones that stand in opposition to who God has created us to be! Joshua picked twelve men to pick up a rock in the Jordan river as they passed through it. Each rock representing the twelve tribes as a memorial of God stopping the water so they could walk through.
