Arts Anatomy is a podcast that dissects the inner workings of the creative industries – from filmmaking and VFX, to video games and graphic design. In each episode, host Darcy Love talks to industry professionals about how they got their start in their chosen creative careers and advice on how to successfully navigate the industry.
Adam Till is the Coordinator of the Writing For Film & Television Diploma at Toronto Film School as well as a producer and writer, known for Billable Hours (2006), Perfect Sisters (2014) and Too Late to Say Goodbye (2009).
Caleigh has been hired by Hungry Eyes Entertainment (Sudz Sutherland/Jennifer Holness) to work in the writing room for a new series they’re developing. She is also writing a feature for acclaimed director Clement Virgo (Book of Negroes, The Listener), a psychological thriller entitled Paralysis. In development with our very own Andrew Barnsley on her series Spiked, loosely based on her experiences as a high jumper at the University of Iowa.
With more than 20 years of experience in graphic design, art direction, brand development and marketing, Pheinixx specializes in composing the artistic and graphic look of a brand.
Pheinixx has worked with international brands like Julien Macdonald, Michael Kors and Roberto Cavalli, and here in Canada with GustoTV, Warner Bros. Music, Fashion’s Night Out, Mastercard Stylicity, TFI’s New Labels, and chef’s Christian Pritchard, Rob Rainford and the spice goddess Bal Arneson. She has designed layouts and graphic materials for such publications as Vogue, Elle, InStyle, GQ and W in Italy, Russia, China and Korea.
Christina Borgs was born in Tucson, Arizona and raised in Guelph, Ontario. After completing an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Fanshawe College, she continued her studies at the Toronto Film School. She is now working, in Toronto, as a camera trainee in IATSE 667 and camera operating or DPing any chance she gets. "Ripples" is Christina's first short film as a director and she plans to continue telling her stories as both a director of photography and director.
For Roxanne Resh, the most inspiring thing about working visual effects is the opportunity it gives her to create worlds that don’t exist.
A Digital Media graduate from the International Academy of Design and Technology, Resh is a lifelong artist whose diverse graphic design portfolio includes both web and print work.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Toronto, she returned to work in the film industry as a 3D artist – specializing in texturing, CG materials, rendering, and, last but not least, environment design and setup.
In a special live episode of Arts Anatomy, Darcy is joined by Film Production Alumni Cheyenne Lyn. Cheyenne Lynn is a small-town girl from Florida, but she’s Canadian at heart. From Japan to Korea, Cheyenne’s been around the world and found a home in Toronto. She spends her time volunteering at every possible event for queer, BIPOC, or female-driven media with her trusty support dog, Rose. A fan of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, she's been developing her writing style and voice for 10 years. She hopes to bring a queer black voice to the genre with lesbian werewolves and various other queer supernatural creatures. She’s recently graduated from Toronto Film School and is a seven-time award-winning producer (Her Little Rose 2019).
Steve Hoffner is an award-winning producer, director, and editor who started his career as a Video Editor for the NHL, and has since gone on to produce content for HBO and the CBC. In this episode of Arts Anatomy, Stephen discusses his nearly two decades of experience working in the entertainment industry – from his film school roots, to the launch of his own production company, 383 Pictures, in 2016.
