You might not know it, but every result in your life is 100% because of the thoughts you think. This is very good news because it means that changing our thoughts can change everything else. This podcast provides practical ways to gain awareness of your current thoughts and then deliberately choose the ones you want in order to improve every area of your life. The way things are is not the way things have to stay. And that my friends, is 100% awesome.
Over the last 300 episodes, I’ve shared the thoughts that have made the biggest difference in my life, shared experiences and examples from my own life, and encouraged you to apply these thoughts in your own life.
In this final episode, I’m sharing the top 15 things that I hope you have learned by listening to this podcast over the last six years. These are the thoughts that have changed my life and the way I see myself and my life experience—and I hope that they have helped you too.
All good things come to an end, and while this is the final episode of the podcast, I hope that these thoughts and ideas will continue to create awesome results in your life.
***This is the last podcast episode but I am still coaching. If you are interested in coaching, please email me at april@aprilpricecoaching.com and I’ll set up a call so we can talk about working together.
I’ve learned a lot from creating nearly 300 episodes of this podcast, but perhaps the most important is how to show up for myself and pursue the things I want even when my brain wants completely different things.
In this penultimate episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the best lessons that showing up for myself every single week has taught me. I hope they’ll help you identify your brain’s excuses and fears and give you the courage and tools to overcome them so you can get started and keep going when it feels hard.
If it feels hard to show up for yourself when you “don’t have to” or “don’t want to,” I think this episode will be helpful and inspiring!

Recently I’ve been reminded that as much as our brains believe they can control and predict what’s going to happen, they can’t. Life is impermanent and there is plenty that we can neither predict nor control.
What we do control is our choices in the present. What we do have is the moment right here in the now. Sometimes it can be a powerful exercise to remember that there are no guarantees, that today is all you have, and to make decisions and choices from that reality.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m welcoming you, not to the “new” year, but to the “now” year and inviting you to stop waiting and start creating and living in the daily rhythm of your goals and dreams.
I’m sharing five tips to help you make this new year the year where you live the life you want to live right now.

We’re just a couple of weeks into a brand new year and I’ve noticed myself feeling hesitant—hesitant to decide and declare my goals, hesitant to finalize plans and decisions and intentions, just hesitant to start.
If you’ve been feeling hesitant when you think you should be feeling motivated and refreshed and ready to go, then this episode is for you.
In today’s episode I talk about why we sometimes feel hesitant at a “start line” and give you three tools to help make yourself feel safe and encouraged when you’re ready to move past your hesitations and begin.
I also share an announcement about the future of the podcast on this episode and some changes I’m making in the new year.
Welcome to a brand new year!
Here at the starting line of the new year, it can be tempting to want to change some (or all) of the things we’re doing, but don’t forget that every action begins as a thought. That means that the most important changes you can make in your life are the things you choose to think.
As we start another revolution around the sun, I want to encourage you to start a thought revolution in your head and choose some new thoughts to power and fuel your life.
On today’s podcast, I’m sharing some of the thoughts that I’m using to create my year, fuel my actions, and make decisions from. I hope they inspire you to purposefully choose the thoughts that will create the things you want and remind you that you get to believe whatever you want about yourself and your life.
Before we start thinking about plans and goals and desires for the new year, it’s important to review the year we just finished and take the time to look back and see what we’ve created.
On today’s podcast, I’ll show you how to review, receive, rejoice, and reexamine your year with love, so that you can celebrate and appreciate all the work you’ve done and the choices you made, and so that you can find the best way to support yourself in the new year.
As you think back on the highs and lows of this year, as you think about what you did or what went undone, free yourself from the illusion that it should have or could have been any other way than it was. It was. And it was good. And on today’s episode I’ll show you that there’s plenty to celebrate and there’s plenty to learn from and it’s all found in your year review.

Christmas is less than a week away and so I’m taking the opportunity today to share my thoughts about Christmas and about Jesus Christ, and reflect on the impact his life and death have had on my own life.
Every year I write a Christmas letter that I send to all our family and friends in which I try to find the lessons and make meaning of the biggest experiences of my year. And today I’m sharing that letter with you.
Of all the thoughts I share on my podcast, these thoughts about Christ and his love and grace are the ones that mean the most to me and bring me the most comfort and peace and joy in my life.
I hope they help you feel the love of God in your own life. Merry Christmas!
We are fully in the gift-giving season. Everywhere you look there is another ad or gift guide to help you find the perfect gift for someone in your life.
Today I thought it might be fun to create my own take on this and make a list of the best gifts I think you can give yourself—and actually, they are all gifts that only you can give yourself.
As you think about the end of this year and the start of the next one, these are things you should think about purposefully giving yourself and incorporating into your life in the new year.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour ends this Sunday and as a tribute to her, her music, and the most epic tour of all time, today I invited my daughter, Olivia onto the podcast to talk all things Taylor Swift. We share what we learned and loved from the tour, as well as take a deep dive on our favorite Taylor Swift songs, some of which made the tour and some of which didn’t.
In a break from our usual programming, today I’m taking off my coaching hat and donning my fan girl outfit complete with friendship bracelet to gush with my daughter about Taylor Swift and talk about what her songs have meant to each of us.
Fair warning…this episode is a long one (we have A LOT to say!!) and only meant for you if you’re a fan of Taylor Swift. Come listen as we share our takes on Taylor’s best work, the songs we just can’t get over, and the feelings we feel when we hear them. This one’s just for fun! Are you ready for it?!

Recently I was reading a book by Julia Cameron who wrote, “The universe is prodigal in its support. We are miserly in what we accept.”
Most of us are uncomfortable receiving and there’s a good reason for this. Psychologically, it feels better for us humans to feel like we are giving more than we are getting. This makes receiving hard because our brains, which like things to be even, are always calculating whether we’ve done enough to deserve the gifts or service or abundance we have.
Today on this special Thanksgiving episode of the podcast, I’m bringing your attention to your ability to receive and the thoughts that get in the way of us fully receiving the abundance of our lives. I think getting better at receiving makes your whole life better, enriches your enjoyment of it, and makes all your relationships sweeter.
Today we’ll talk about how to get better at receiving the goodness that is already present in your life, and I’ll share some ideas, thoughts, and feelings to help you practice noticing and receiving the gifts of your beautiful life.
The holiday season is in full swing and today I want to give you some help as you navigate the stresses, obligations and feelings of the season.
Because no matter how long your to-do list is or how much extra work you might have to do, it’s always our thoughts that are making us feel bad and our brains that end up making things even harder on ourselves.
So today’s podcast is a little holiday peptalk to help you handle the holidays and feel good during one of the most stressful parts of the year. We’ll talk about what to say no to, what to say yes to, how to use your agency to take care of yourself so you can have more of the experiences and feelings you want and less of the ones you don’t.
Just in time, here’s the holiday halftime speech you’ve been needing!
Even though the election is over, there are still a lot of thoughts and feelings about it to process. No matter what your political viewpoint is, it’s hard to wake up and realize that half the country doesn’t think and feel the way you do (p.s. the right way). That realization can make us feel scared and uncertain about our future.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m talking about how to process your feelings about the outcome of the election and how to process your feelings about the people who voted differently than you and who might feel like the enemy right now. And what if they are the people across the street, across the pew, or across the dinner table?
If you’ve felt heavy or anxious in the aftermath of the election, I hope this episode will help you compassionately take care of yourself as well as give you a reason to love other people and embrace our common humanity.
I recently cheered my brother on in a 100-mile race called the Javelina Jundred.
Watching him grind out all those long, hot miles awed me, terrified me, and taught me about the way we create transformation in our lives. It’s messy, it’s slow, and it’s inevitable if you keep going—but many of us stop because we’re waiting for a magical moment of transformation rather than the unremarkable and boring work of taking the next step.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing all the things I learned by watching my brother do something impossible, unthinkable, unbearable, and insurmountable by simply (but never easily) putting one foot in front of another.
Making mistakes is a big part of our human experience but none of us enjoy it very much.
And while making mistakes isn’t fun and we never want to hurt ourselves and others, our brains as especially intolerant of our mistakes and can sometimes use them against us for years after we make them, haunting us with feelings of regret and shame and recrimination.
Every time we make a mistake, there is an opportunity for learning and growth, but our brains usually just use them as an opportunity to belittle and bully us. So, what do we do when we know we got it wrong, and our brains won’t let it go?
In this special Halloween episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some thoughts to allow you to exorcise the ghosts of your past mistakes and access more grace and compassion, so you can move you forward rather than be terrorized by your past.
It is a brave thing to be a human.
Mostly because, as long as we are alive, we are each under the constant scrutiny and criticism of our own brains. And no matter what we do, it seems like we’re never good enough to quiet its relentless disparagement.
Recently I have had a few experiences that reminded me how vulnerable and scary it is to stand up to you brain and its criticism, and how many incredible experiences are available to us if we do.
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing a few thoughts about how all of our brains want to make us scared and insecure and just how much bravery it takes to feel that and create the things you want anyway. I hope these thoughts will give you comfort and motivation, help you be a little braver, and allow you to be a little more compassionate with yourself and others as you do the brave work of being human.
It can be easy for our natural desires to change and grow to become a never-ending quest for continued self-improvement and optimization.
This can lead us down a road where we’re always chasing what comes next because we believe that next version of ourselves will be better than who we are now. And without meaning to, we can end up making our present selves inferior to some superior future self, and always feel a low level of discontent with ourselves and our lives.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m inviting you to the idea of choosing present over perfect. And I’m giving you thoughts and strategies to be more present in your life and to value you who you are and where you are, without worrying that your contentment will make you complacent.
If you’re someone who finds it difficult to rest or if you find yourself always trying to prove or earn your worthiness, I hope this episode will allow you to embrace your inherent goodness and trade your quest for perfection for joy in the present.
It’s election season here in the U.S. and many of us have lots of thoughts and feelings about it. There can be a lot of tension and stress when it comes to politics because our brains believe that our happiness and safety are at stake, and it feels like we have so little control over the outcome.
It’s also stressful because we have relationships and interactions with people who think and vote differently than us and their thoughts and opinions are very loud right now.
In today’s episode, I’m not going to tell you how to think or who to vote for, but I am going to share some thoughts that will allow you to feel peace at a time when there is a lot of fearmongering everywhere you turn. We’ll also discuss how to allow other people to be who they are and think what they think without resenting or villainizing them, and how to engage and participate in the political process (if you want to), when your brain is making you feel hopeless or unseen or powerless.
No matter where you live or what political season you are in, I hope this episode will allow you to feel less scared and angry and more empowered to contribute and make a difference in the world.
Whenever we watch the people in our life suffer or face challenges, our natural instinct is to try to fix or change things in order to ease their suffering.
But not only is changing or removing their pain often impossible, it’s also not the kind of help our loved ones really need.
As I faced the challenges of a recent endurance event, I watched how perfectly my husband, David, was able to offer me incredible support without changing the challenge, questioning my decisions or my abilities, and without losing his patience or compassion. And on today’s episode, I’ve asked him to share his experience and insights.
We all have incredible opportunities to support and care the people we love, and I hope this episode will help you as you witness, cheer, and comfort the people you love most in the world as they face the “mountains” of their lives.
I recently completed an ultra-endurance challenge called 29029, where I climbed the vertical equivalent of Mount Everest, 29029 feet, in 36 hours.
Reaching the summit took everything I had and plenty that I didn’t think I had. And I learned so much. There are things we can only learn by going way outside our comfort zone, by finding the edge of our abilities, and stretching ourselves beyond what our brains believes we are capable of. I surprised myself, I met myself, and I discovered myself.
In this follow-up episode, I’m sharing the final lessons I learned in those uncomfortable, sometimes painful, hours I spent climbing and ultimately conquering to Mont Tremblant. I hope they will help you, encourage you, and inspire you as you face the Everests in your life.

Do you ever wonder why it feels so good to set a goal and decide you’re going to do something but then it feels so bad to actually do it?
When our dreams are out ahead of us in the future, they feel exciting. When they are accomplished and behind us in the past, they feel satisfying. But in the present, our dreams don’t necessarily feel so good because the present moment is where all the work and effort and discomfort and pain and vulnerability of our dreams exists.
The difference between dreaming and doing is discomfort. And on today’s podcast, I’m sharing some tools to help you manage and navigate the discomfort and difficulty that inevitably comes whenever you are working towards your goals and dreams.

You can get a lot of relief and hope using the principles and tools of thought work.
But it’s also easy to weaponize these tools and use them against yourself.
The whole point of increasing your awareness and understanding of your thoughts is to make the hard work of being human easier. And if the tool you’re using isn’t making the relationship with yourself warmer and stronger, then there’s a good chance you’re using the tool as a weapon.
On today’s podcast, I remind you that when it comes to thought work, usefulness is the only thing that matters, and I’ll point out some common ways you might be using these tools to make yourself wrong, so that you can take what helps you feel hope and optimism and compassion and leave the rest.

I am competing in a big endurance event in a couple weeks and in the run up to that event my brain has given me lots of doubt—doubt about my preparation, doubt about my ability to finish the event, doubt in my capacity to endure pain, doubt about my age, my body, my mental toughness, and everything in between!
But doubts are just thoughts.
And my doubts don’t know any more about the future than my beliefs. So I don’t have to give them any more credibility than I want to.
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing the things I’m doing about my doubts and giving you some tools that I hope will help you overcome your own doubts. Cause all the good stuff is on the other side of your doubts and you never have to let your doubts keep you from anything you really want.

We all share this world with each other. And we all have separate brains that are individually assessing and interpreting that experience for only ourselves. That means that in any given circumstance or situation or experience, lots of different brains are going to have lots of different opinions about it.
The problem is that many times other people’s opinions can feel dangerous. Because even though we can’t control other people’s opinions, it often feels like their opinions have the potential to have a big impact on our safety and happiness.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m giving you a new way to think about the opinions of other people. I’ll show you why those opinions often feel so threatening and how to release your fear and your need to control other people’s opinions so that you can feel more peace in any situation.
Other people’s opinions are a big part of the human experience, but today I want to show you that your own opinion (which is the only one that you can control, by the way) is the only one that really matters.

Like you, I have been so inspired and delighted as I watched the recent Paris Olympics.
I was amazed by the skill, by the vulnerability, by the courage, by the willingness to suffer and sacrifice that was demonstrated by the athletes that participated. And I took notes. Because I wanted to remember the things I learned by watching other people pursue their dreams.
On today’s podcast, I’m sharing some of my favorite lessons and thoughts from the Olympic games. I think no matter what you are trying to create in your life, no matter what choices you are trying to make, no matter what dreams you are pursuing or what obstacles you face as you do that, watching other humans choose and pursue and overcome in pursuit of their own goals can help you. * * * Looking for tickets to HOPE DAY? Perhaps the most essential element to changing your life is having the hope that it’s possible.
It’s easy to get discouraged and believe that change is impossible, but as long as we are alive and have the ability to choose our thoughts, change is available for all of us.
In today’s episode, I share a metaphor to remind you of your power to change and give you hope that real change is simpler and more accessible than you think.
I also interview Annie Haviland about HOPE DAY, an upcoming coaching event being held in northern Utah on October 12th. We each have three amazing gifts: our body, our brain, and our spirit.
But many times, these three parts of us want and need different things and it’s easy to find these three parts of ourselves at odds with one another. This can create conflict within and we can spend lots of time and energy fighting ourselves.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m talking about how to listen, respect, and glean the unique wisdom of each part—our body, our brain, and our spirit—so that we can form a council of wisdom that will allow us to create a life we love while maintaining a warm and loving relationship with ourselves.
One of the most universal human experiences is the experience of being tired. Our bodies and our brains are fueled by limited sources of energy and all of us need to take time every day to rest and recover.
But it’s interesting to notice that we also have lots of thoughts about being tired and what it means about us when we stop to rest.
On today’s podcast, we’re covering lots of thoughts about being tired, including what to think when you’re tired to make your rest more effective. We’ll also talk about how to reframe the experience of being tired when rest isn’t an option, so that you can lower your resistance and make it easier on yourself.
Because just like everything else in life, the way you think about being tired will completely change the way you experience it.
When it comes to choosing your thoughts, the truth is that there aren’t any rules. You get to think whatever you want! And there really aren’t any rules that you have to keep or obey or even pay attention to.
But if you want to change your thoughts and you don’t know where to start or sometimes feel overwhelmed or confused about how to think something new, then I hope these 7 rules will give you some help and structure for choosing a new thought.
It’s the middle of the year.
Maybe some of you are feeling like we’re already halfway through the year and you haven’t accomplished as much as you wanted to yet. Maybe you’re feeling a little discouraged with your progress, or maybe your brain has convinced you that the things you want are never going to happen and this is a good time to just give up.
Today on the podcast I want to give you some encouragement to keep going and some tools to help you keep working on the things you want to accomplish and create in your life.
In this episode we’ll talk about how discouragement and shame can stop us from continuing to work towards the things we want and what to do about them. And I’ll share two powerful experiences I had recently that I think will help motivate and inspire you to keep working on it no matter where you are in your progress.

We spend all of our time inside our own heads, but have you ever noticed how it’s often more like a prison than a playground in there? Our brains can be tyrants. And if we leave the thoughts it gives us unquestioned or unsupervised, they will keep us stuck and tortured and oppressed.
On today’s podcast, I’m talking about how you can use your agency to break free from the tyranny of your brain and overthrow the regime in your head that is constantly criticizing, comparing, doubting, and diminishing you.
I’ll show you five specific ways our brain harasses us, traps us, imprisons us, keeps us stuck and feeling bad—and what to do about it!
Learning to overthrow the tyranny and the dictatorship of your own brain is so important to be able to do what you want, feel how you want, be who you want, and create a life you love.
Summer is traditionally a time of year where many of us take a break, get away, and do some traveling.
And so today on the podcast I thought I’d share my best travel tips. But this episode isn’t about things like how to pack efficiently or how to make the most of your travel reward points. Today I’m giving you all my best tips about what to think and how to feel as you travel with your loved ones—so that you have the best possible experience mentally and emotionally as you travel together this summer.
Because guess what?
No matter how far you go, no matter how exotic the location or how many planes, trains, or ferries you took to get there, your vacation is still being experienced through the filter of your brain. And even though we’re getting away from it all, we never get away from our brains.
I recently ran my first marathon, and I learned a lot of lessons doing it.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing my race day experience. You’ll hear about the highs, the lows, the lessons, the battles I fought inside my own head, and the feelings you only get to feel when you do hard things.
Getting to the finish line is hard. It’s gonna take everything you’ve got.
But I hope this episode will encourage you and help you keep moving toward your own goals and dreams and remind you not only that you can do hard things, but that it might be why you’re doing it in the first place.
I recently ran my first marathon, and I learned a lot of lessons doing it.
But there were also a lot of things I learned just getting to the start line of this race.
From the sign up, to the training, through the taper, and all the miles in between, this experience taught me so many things about perspective and perseverance and fear and the power of decisions and celebrating every win.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the first part of my marathon experience—what I did, what I learned, what got in my way, what I had to overcome, who I became, and what thoughts helped me the most as I did the work to get to the start line of a marathon.
We’ve just finished commencement season. At some point in our lives, most of us have sat in the audience of a commencement speech thinking that everything good in our life was about to start.
But then time passes and maybe 5 or 10 or 20 years later we can find ourselves looking around and thinking: Is this it? Is this what being an adult was gonna be like? Is this how it was supposed to turn out? Most of us had big plans to change the world, but maybe after a few decades, it just feels like the world changed us instead.
I think the problem is our expectations. I think commencement speeches and the happily-ever-after we see in the movies and on social media are all selling us the idea that life is supposed to be big and magical and exciting, and you are supposed to be happy and successful and gorgeous and killing it all the time.
So today I wanted to give a kind of “anti-commencement speech” and reframe your expectations about what life is supposed to be like, so that you can feel better about yourself and your very ordinary, normal human experience, and hopefully answer the question, “Is this it?” along the way.
Most of us are good at being hard on ourselves. We know how to be disappointed and disgusted and frustrated with ourselves and we’re experts at being critical and condescending of the parts of us that we don’t like. Treating ourselves this way comes naturally (because of the way our brains work) and we’ve also had a lot of practice doing it.
What doesn’t come naturally is being kind—especially to ourselves and especially when we are struggling. We’ve all heard the advice to be kind to yourself, but how do we do that, especially when we make mistakes or feel like we don’t deserve kindness?
In today’s episode I’m answering that question and teaching you how to develop a practice, habit, and culture of kindness with yourself.
Your relationship with yourself is the most long-lasting, long-term relationship you will ever have and learning how to relate to yourself with kindness is a superpower that will serve you in every area of your life.

Sometimes it can feel like your brain is the enemy, but there’s actually a really significant survival advantage for everything your brain does.
When humans first showed up on the scene, we had no camouflaged skin, no super hearing, we couldn’t fly or swim. We couldn’t see in the dark or breathe underwater. We didn’t have claws or huge teeth or thick fur. The only thing we had was a three-pound pile of flesh secretly stashed in our skulls and that one advantage that allowed us to survive and thrive on this planet.
Today on the podcast, I thought it would be fun to imagine what self-help might look like in the Stone Age to demonstrate why your brain does what it does and why it takes so much awareness, intention, and energy to try and think differently.
Your brain is a miracle. But it is also misinformed about what’s best for you and I hope today’s podcast will help you have a brand new appreciation for the way your brain works and feel much more empowered to redirect it.
Nobody likes feeling bad, but what can make it even worse is when we think we’re bad for feeling bad.
Even though our emotions are always just information being passed from our brain to our body, it’s easy to make the mistake of thinking that feelings have a morality—that there are good ways to feel and bad ways to feel. And this can make us suspicious and even ashamed of our negative emotions.
On today’s podcast, I’m pointing out the negative rap that our negative emotions get and giving you some important things to remember when you feel bad. You’ll learn why you might conflate your negative emotion with wickedness, what your all your emotions really mean and say about you, and how to allow and embrace the experience of feeling…even when you feel bad.
In an attempt to keep us safe and happy, our brain spends a remarkable amout of energy in places where it has no control.
For example, we can only make choices in the present moment, but have you noticed how often your brain time-travels into the future or back to the past trying to change or control things that it can’t?
Or maybe you’ve noticed how much time your brain spends thinking and worrying about the thoughts and feelings and opinions of other people? Again, this is a place where we don’t have any control because we don’t get to make other people’s choices, including how they choose to feel about us. On today’s podcast, I want to bring your awareness to how much energy you are spending trying to control the uncontrollable and remind you that your most powerful place is the place where you have the ability to make choices. I’ll share a powerful visualization tool that will help you refocus your energy and your agency to control the things you can and let go of all the things you can’t.
I recently spent a week at a surf school in Costa Rica and had an incredible time.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I’m telling you all about my experience and also sharing some of the memorable lessons that I got from the trip, from the ocean, and from my surf coach that I have been thinking about since I got home.
While you might not be planning to go to surf school any time soon, we are all down here at earth school and I think the things I learned while I was trying to acquire this new skill will help you with the things you are trying to learn and master in your own life.
This week’s podcast episode marks 5 years of the show!
And today I’m sharing 5 important things that I have learned during that time as I have created this podcast.
No matter who you are or what you are trying to create in your life, your brain is going to create resistance and excuses and fear and these can keep you from creating the things you want.
So today, I want to inspire you and give you the help you need to overcome your brain.
Along the way, I’ll teach you that creation is an accumulation, it is imperfect, it is vulnerable, it is important, and it is unique—and I’ll show you how embracing these principles of creation can get you started and keep you moving towards your dreams.
Have you ever noticed all the tiny little things that make life awesome? It turns out that the more you notice, the better you feel.
Your brain, of course, wants to notice all the things that have gone wrong, but there are just as many things that have gone exactly right and it can feel really good to bring your awareness to them.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’ll remind you of how fun it is to like things, teach you what you can learn from the U-curve of happiness, give you a daily practice to help you pay attention to the small but significant pleasures of your life, and make my own little tribute to some of the ordinary things in my life that I think are seriously awesome.
Sometimes our brains can miss the spectacular awesomeness that can be found in the most ordinary things in our lives and this episode is all about inspiring you to see them again for the first time.
I recently cleaned out my closet and intentionally decided, piece by piece, the items that I wanted to keep in my wardrobe and the ones that I no longer needed or wanted.
What if we did the same thing in our lives?
If I went through my life piece by piece and examined each element—my habits, my schedule, my relationships, my work, my faith, the thoughts and feelings that I have most, the things I spend my time on—are they all things that I really want to be choosing? Given the choice to put them in my life, would I choose them again? Is my life full of things that I intentionally want to be there?
In today’s podcast, I ask three questions that you can use to evaluate whether you are prioritizing the things that are really important to you so you can make sure your life is stocked with all the things you like and want.
This week I celebrate my 50th birthday which has me thinking about this episode of the podcast kind of like a halftime report. If I’m about halfway through my life (halfway through the game, if you will) I’m metaphorically going back to the locker room to take breath and evaluate how the first half of the game has gone.
I’ve been on earth for five decades and today I’m thinking about my life, assessing what I’ve learned and loved about the first half of my life, and the recording the lessons that have meant the most to me.
No matter how old you are or where you are in the course of your own life, I hope these lessons will change the way you experience your life and help you find more joy in all of it.
For those of us that live in the northern hemisphere, spring is a time of year where there are reminders everywhere about the true abundance of our lives.
Of course, we always live in an abundant world surrounded by an abundant universe, but because of hedonistic adaptation, most of the time our brain either doesn’t notice it or diminishes it down to nothing.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing a few things that have caught my attention recently that have surprised me, humbled me, and reminded me how much abundance and grace fills our lives and is extended to each of us by God.
There’s never going to be a point at which your brain isn’t going to doubt you and question your ability to succeed, no matter how talented or capable you are or how many times you’ve succeeded or failed in the past.
Most of us are waiting for the doubts to go away. We think that if we could make our doubts go away then we would find our belief.
But on today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the idea that belief isn’t the absence of doubt—believing in ourselves is a choice we are allowed to make even while we have doubts.
It’s your brain’s job to doubt you. But you never have to let those doubts stop you. Doubt is what your brain does. Believing is what you can do and today’s podcast episode is all about how to do just that.
Today on the podcast I ask and answer a question that you may occasionally find yourself asking: What’s wrong with me?
As humans it’s easy to wonder why we feel so bad, why we can’t seem to figure out how to be happy and productive, why we do the things we do, why it feels so hard to do the things we’re “supposed to do,” and why it often feels like we’re our own worst enemy…I mean, what it wrong with us?
Over and over, we ask this question, thinking that if we could just figure out the problem of us then we could fix it and finally feel better about ourselves and our life.
In today’s episode we’ll talk about why it sometimes feels so hard to be human and how to stop thinking that there’s something wrong with you—cause there isn’t! This episode will give you perspective, warmth, and understanding for the very challenging experience of being human.
From the moment we become parents we are concerned about the safety, happiness, and success of our children.
But how much of that is in our control? And how much of it is our responsibility?
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing three important distinctions that will allow you to improve the relationship you have with your children by releasing all the things you can’t control and focusing on the things you can.
You’ll learn the big difference between being a responsible parent and taking responsibility for your children’s choices, how your influence can make a difference, and how to know that your children have everything they need for their best life.
While it’s true that most of us appreciate the ease and entertainment that we get from our digital devices, it may also be true that we are spending more time on them than we want to be.
Why is this?
Well, it turns out that our brains are biologically programmed to respond to the content and the alerts of digital media and there is an entire attention economy dedicated to taking advantage of that, and using your neurobiology to get more and more of your time, attention, and money there.
Over the last two months, I drastically limited the amount of time I spent on my phone and digital devices and today on the podcast, I’m sharing that experience, the things I learned about myself and my brain by doing it, and the overall impact less digital media has had on my life.
This episode will teach you about your own neurobiology and shine a light on how our brains respond to the digital experience, so you can make more conscious decisions about how you spend your time, and the quantity and quality of the things you let take up space inside your own head.
All of us know about trying harder. We’ve been taught to believe that if your life doesn’t look the way you want, you probably need to try harder!
But today I want to offer you the idea that instead of being harder and tougher on ourselves in order to create what we want in our lives, what we really need to do is to be warmer with ourselves. Instead of criticism and impatience with our efforts, what is really going to help us grow and become is learning and practicing in an environment of encouragement, understanding, and love.
Join me on the podcast today where I’ll tell you all about the power of trying warmer instead of harder. Trying warmer isn’t about indulging ourselves or our excuses—it’s about making sure we have the support we need to try and keep on trying until we get what we want.
I can’t believe it, but this is the 250th episode of the podcast!
And today, I’m showing my appreciation for all the things that have helped me reach this milestone. I have been the recipient of an endless supply of encouragements and today I want to take a moment to say thank you.
During the episode you’ll learn how you have your own endless supply of encouragements and how you can use those encouragements to bolster others and strengthen yourself as you meet the challenges of your life and go after the things you want. Because no matter what you’re trying to do in your life, encouragement can play a key role in whether or not you get there.
Perhaps there is no category of thoughts with more stigma or misunderstanding than suicidal thoughts. These kinds of thoughts scare us. We don’t like to talk about them and most of us don’t know what to do when we find them in our own heads or in the heads of the people we love and care about.
But suicidal thoughts are common for human beings and really understanding why we have them and what we should do with them is an important part of taking care of yourself and protecting others.
Today is a special episode of the podcast dedicated to understanding why brains sometimes have suicidal thoughts and reducing the fear and the stigma that is associated with them.
You’ll learn the simple and practical things that you can do when you’re scared because you or someone you love is having suicidal thoughts, how to prioritize your own mental and emotional wellness to minimize your risk of suicide, and some important things to remember when you feel hopeless.
I know that today’s episode is focused on a sensitive, tender topic, but I hope that the tools and thoughts I share will help you feel more empowered and courageous and hopeful whenever you encounter these thoughts.

There’s a famous concept that is often used in business, in teams, and in other organizations that says that when it comes to success, culture is way more important than strategy.
When it comes to accomplishing your own dreams and creating results in your own life, this idea is just as true. It’s easy to focus your energy and effort on the “strategies” and all the things you need to do. But what if your personal, internal culture has a much greater impact on your success than any of the things you do?
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m inviting you to evaluate your own personal, internal environment and I’m sharing five keys to creating an amazing personal culture: vision, vulnerability, buy in, belief, and love.
When you ask yourself to grow and change and do new things, strategy will only get you so far and you can’t ever outwork a toxic culture. Instead, you need to build a strong, supportive internal culture that allows you to do hard things, try brand new things, and keep going no matter what.
It’s been a tough week for coaches in the NFL. The playoffs are in full swing and right now there are a lot of coaching changes happening across the league and lots of talk about who’s in and who’s out.
Just like in fashion or in NFL coaching, our thoughts go in and out of usefulness. There are times when we decide that thinking one way has got to go and it’s time to make room for something new.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing what’s in and out for me this year, especially in terms of what I really want to believe right now, what I want more of in my life, and what I’m ready to part ways with. This week I’m talking all about the tradeoffs I’m making in my life in the hopes that it will inspire you to think about the ones you want to make.
You can’t get everything. But you can make trades for the results you really want so you can have your own version of a well-lived life.
There’s a good reason that many of our dreams go unfulfilled: our brains always get in the way.
In the first three weeks of the year, I have already been reminded how just as soon as we start working towards our dreams, our brains step up to stop us—which is why all of us have to learn to fight for our dreams.
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing three recent experiences and three lessons to help you fight that good fight and help you if you’re scared or discouraged or unsure where to start.
Your dreams have the power to change the world—even if it’s just your world. Don’t let your brain keep you from creating them!
You are not your brain.
You are not your biology or your physiology or your neurochemistry. You are a being separate from your brain, but your brain chemistry is making a far bigger impact on your life, your feelings, and your choices than you may realize.
Today on the podcast I’m teaching you about some of the most important neurotransmitters in your brain, why they work the way they do, and how you can use that knowledge to hack your neurochemistry so that you can get more of the things you want in your life.
We’re going to be talking about specific, actionable changes and behaviors that you can do to stimulate more of the neurotransmitters you want and limit the ones that may be getting in your way.
I think this discussion will change the relationship you have with your brain and allow you to be much more proactive in nurturing your brain health. It will also help you understand why you feel the way you do and how to use your neurotransmitters to create the life you want and not the one your brain gives you on default.
**Episode note: This episode is packed with helpful things you can do to increase certain neurotransmitters. To make it easier for you, I created a guide with all the information I share as well as a dopamine menu template and you can download a copy of that guide here : https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/new-year-new-neurotransmitters
During the episode, I talk at length about a dopamine menu. To learn more about this idea, you can check out this video:

This time of year we hear lots of talk about goals, but I think many of us have goal trauma. We’ve been hurt by goals we’ve set in the past or hurt by our own mistreatment of ourselves as we pursued them.
A lot of us are disillusioned and tired and maybe we’re even a little bit scared to set goals because, instead of helping us, many of our goals have ended up eroding the relationship we have with ourselves.
And today I’m hoping to change that.
Today on the podcast, I’m inviting you to join a “goal revolution” and do your goals this year in a way you’ve never done them before. I’m sharing five revolutionary, radical shifts that you can make in your goal setting that will not only make your goals more achievable but also way more enjoyable as you work towards them.

Recently I have been thinking about the difference between living your life well and having a life well-lived. Living your life well is about making sure you’re living your life correctly, taking all the right action and making all the right choices so that you can earn approval from yourself or others. It’s about external measurements and external validation of your choices. While having a life that has been well-lived is about enjoying your life, growing and developing in ways that matter to you, and using the time you have on earth pursuing the things that light you up the most. It’s about finding out what matters most to you and being brave enough to create them in the world. In anticipation of the upcoming new year and the fresh slate of possibilities ahead, today on the podcast I’m sharing some thoughts to help you create a year where you can go beyond constantly striving and competing with yourself to "live better", and instead really enjoy and embrace and cultivate a life well-lived.

As we are in the final weeks of 2023, I have naturally been thinking about the year—the things I did, the choices I made, the results I have created, and especially the lessons I have learned.
Today on the podcast, I wanted to share the three lessons that have meant the most to me this year. These are the things that changed me the most and made a huge difference in the way I think about myself and my life.
Every once in a while, it’s powerful to stop and notice and record what you have learned, what you know now that you didn’t before, and what you are becoming. Our brains want to minimize our accomplishments and tell us we aren’t changing, we aren’t growing, and we aren’t learning. But we always are.
Come listen to the lessons that helped me the most this year and then make some time to appreciate and notice the lessons that you have learned as well. Whatever happened, whatever choices you made, you learned something valuable and now’s the perfect time to reflect on those things.

This time of year, it’s hard to miss the onslaught of cheesy, formulaic Christmas movies, where (inevitably) a big city businessman/advertising exec/marketing bro finds true love and happiness with a small-town baker/chef/café owner. It’s a story that’s been so overtold that you can guess the characters, the setting, the plot, and the happy ending before it even starts.
In many ways, our brain follows the same predictable pattern as these movies. No matter how boring, and no matter how tired we are of the same thoughts and stories it creates, our brain keeps recycling the same old negative beliefs that keep us stuck and unhappy.
Today on the podcast, we’re having some fun as we compare our brains to these predictable, holiday movies. I’ll show you how our brain keeps running the same excuses, the same drama, the same negativity, the same doubts over and over again—and how this just keeps creating the same plot lines and the same results in our lives.
Come learn three ways your brain is doing its job just like a Hallmark movie producer so that you can identify its patterns, change things up, and create a life you really love.

As humans, most of us wonder about our purpose. Unlike God’s other creations, we tend to worry about what we’re supposed to be doing with our lives and how to find and fulfill our true purpose while we’re here on earth.
Sometimes these concerns cause us to hurt ourselves with the thought that our lives were supposed to be different than they are and that if we were better somehow or had made better choices, then we’d have the life we were really supposed to have.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some thoughts to help you feel more peaceful about your purpose and the life you have created. I hope it will allow you to let go of the nagging thoughts that tell you that you’ve missed something or done your life wrong and help you see that you are always having the exact life experience you need.

While there are never feelings that you should or should not feel, there might be feelings that you WANT to feel more of—and maybe gratitude is one of those for you.
Not only can gratitude be one of the most enjoyable emotions to feel in and of itself, it can also be used to soften and ameliorate painful emotions like stress and grief.
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing a small but powerful tool that you can use to immediately increase the amount of gratitude you feel in any situation. Instead of forcing yourself or shaming yourself to “just be grateful,” this shift in perspective will help you think about gratitude in a way you never have before and make it easier to feel.
On this Thanksgiving weekend, I hope this episode will give you a tool to increase your gratitude that you can use any time you want to feel more of it.

One of the greatest gifts we have down here on earth is the ability to talk to God. But just like anything else in life, sometimes our thoughts get in the way of us using this gift the way we want to.
For many of us, there are a lot of thoughts that can get in the way of our conversations with God, that prevent us from opening up to him, that make us feel guilty and self-conscious, and stop us from making him a trusted confidant that we want to talk to and listen to.
In today’s episode of the podcast, we’re talking about how your thoughts about God and your thoughts about yourself create your relationship with God and impact both the frequency with which you talk to him and the level of intimacy you feel when you do. If you want to improve your communication with heaven, this episode is for you.

It’s easy to feel heavy and overwhelmed by the suffering and devastation happening in our world right now. It seems like there is no end to the pain caused by living in the world or to the pain that can be caused by the choices of other people.
In today’s podcast episode, I am sharing a recent conversation I had with grief coach, Kelly Norton, who shared some powerful thoughts about how to handle and manage the grief of the world and the pain we feel witnessing the realities of the human condition and the suffering of others.
We talk about how we can manage the mental and emotional weight of catastrophic current events, how to balance being informed with protecting your peace, how feeling bad is actually a good thing, and how to allow for joy even in the worst of times.
I hope this conversation helps you feel less alone in your sorrow or fear, gives you help and permission to feel and process your emotions, and teaches you some practical things that you can do to feel better and to help increase the amount of love in the world.
I think this is going to be a really valuable conversation for any of you who struggle with the pain of being human and the grief of the world.

A spell is defined as a series of words that has magical powers. But there’s nothing mystical or supernatural about the fact that the words in our head (our thoughts) are powerfully, unconsciously, almost “magically” creating our lives.
And if we think about the metaphor of casting spells to allow you to alter or control reality, nowhere is that a more useful skill to have than in your own mind. The words you choose to think are literally creating your life—and that means that your ability to look at them, choose them, and change them, may be the most powerful magic there is.
Today on the podcast, in a little nod to the upcoming Halloween holiday, I’m bringing your awareness to the fundamental creative force in your life: the words you say to yourself or to others. I’ll show you how to examine the words you say to yourself and other people so you can “cast the best spells” and weave the reality you want.

Our brains can be kind of tricky sometimes. They often like to give us thoughts that sound nice, but which can actually be harmful and cause us pain. In fact, some of our most poisonous thoughts walk around our minds disguised as helpful, useful, reasonable, and sometimes even “positive” thoughts.
Today on the podcast I’ll show you how three thoughts (that your brain probably gives you on a daily or weekly basis) might be causing you to feel powerless, frustrated, and ashamed—but you might not even know it because they are disguised so well.
I’ll teach you how to find all your poisonous, harmful thoughts in disguise so that you can unmask them, let them go, and feel better.

There are lots of times in our lives when we’re going to feel discouraged and, as the prefix indicates, to have moments where we literally feel separated from our courage.
When this happens to us or to the people we love, what do we do? How do we effectively help and encourage when we or others need it the most?
This week I received an audio message from my son that was so encouraging that it made me wonder what characteristics made it so effective. I think it perfectly exemplified how we can offer encouragement to ourselves or others without being dismissive of the pain and the very real human experience of discouragement.
Join me this week on the podcast and learn the five elements that are necessary for effective encouragement so that you can help and lift and encourage yourself or others when things are hard.

The seasons are changing and I think it’s time to change the way we see ourselves as well. It’s time for a season of self-compassion.
I talk a lot on the podcast about self-development, but none of us can truly grow and develop and reach our potential without having a high degree of love and compassion for ourselves. Without it, our quest for self-actualization can easily become an exercise in self-contempt.
Self-compassion sometimes gets a bad rap because we mistake it for self-indulgence or self-satisfaction. But self-compassion never requires you to settle for a life you don’t want. Instead, choosing self-compassion simply means making a commitment to treat yourself with kindness, patience, and love as you as you experience your life and do the work of creating your future. You can grow and develop in any way you want but you never have to bully yourself into it.
Join me on the podcast today where I encourage you to embrace a new season of self-compassion and show you how to trade your contempt and frustration for understanding and love.

One of the things that can keep us stuck and discouraged and not pursuing our dreams is the fear of failure.
It’s easy to be scared of failure because almost every day our brain points out the ways that it sees us failing. Our brains are good at noticing where we aren’t measuring up, where we’re falling behind, and where we’ve failed to meet our own expectations—and it feels terrible.
But what if you can’t fail? What if there’s actually no such thing?
In today’s podcast I’m sharing three recent experiences I’ve had with failure and how these experiences have changed the way I think about failure. When you change the way you see your “failures” it will improve your turnaround time, sweeten your relationship with yourself, and increase your desire to keep going.

We are in a transition time of the year, moving from summer to fall. And every time we come to a transition moment in life, there is an opportunity to check in with yourself and ask yourself if you want to keep creating the things you’ve been creating or if you want to make a change. This periodic evaluation can allow us to live a life of intention rather than a life by default.
In today’s podcast, I ask two important questions: What do you want? Do you want to change to get it?
And if these questions feel hard to answer, there’s a good reason for that! Our brain is good at shutting us down before we figure out what we want and talking us out of the things we need to change when we do know what we want. Today I’m showing you how to prevent your brain from doing both of these things.
If you want your life to be different but you aren’t sure what you want or how to get it, this podcast will give you the answers you need.

Dread is suffering your brain creates ahead of time. It’s the pain we feel because our brain is trying to avoid a possibly painful experience ahead of us.
And dread can be such an intense emotion that when we feel it, it can be easy to make excuses for ourselves and talk ourselves out of doing the things we want to do.
What if what is really between you and the life you want is just a feeling? What if it’s just the feeling of dread?
Today on the podcast, I’m deconstructing dread and giving you the tools you need when this feeling pops up in your life. Because everything you really want is just on the other side of your brain’s dread…and you never have to let it stop you from creating the life you want.
Last week, my son, Caleb and I competed in our very first SwimRun competition, in which we ran nearly 16 miles up and down the hills and trails of Mackinac Island and swam over 3 miles in the cold water of Lake Huron. It was an awesome experience that neither of us will ever forget.
As with any goal, along the way, we learned lots about ourselves, our capacity, and our brains and we think the lessons we learned will help you as you create the goals and dreams you have in your own life.
This was our second big endurance event and we learned a lot through training and preparing for the event, as well as competing in the event itself, and on today’s podcast episode, we’re breaking down the biggest lessons and takeaways that we each received as we worked toward our goal
Whenever we start a new goal, we feel motivated and excited and determined. And we’re pretty familiar with the end of a goal as well, when we either achieve what we want or we don’t.
But what happens in the middle?
While we all recognize the determined beginning and the satisfying achievement or disappointing failure at the end of a goal, there are parts in the middle that nobody talks about.
And if you aren’t aware of the entire lifecycle of the goal and don’t anticipate all the phases you experience on the way to your goal, it can cause you to give up on your goal before it’s time.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m talking about the parts of your goal that you might not be expecting because every goal has a lifecycle and the more you know about it, the better chance you have of reaching your goals.
We live in a world of opposition. For every one of us, the fact that we are alive means that we will someday die. And when we choose to love someone, it means that we are inevitably also choosing loss and grief. This is what it means to be human.
Our lives contain the possibility for so much joy and happiness and connection, but all of these experiences are really only available because the possibility of loss also exists. How do we make peace with that? And how do we dare love when loss is inextricably linked with that choice?
In a very personal episode of the podcast, today I’m sharing my recent experiences with love and loss and what I’ve learned about life and death that have made me way more intentional and committed to choosing more love more of the time.
Our brain like to tell us that we don’t have enough. They point out that we don’t have enough time or money or energy or love. They are constantly scared about running out and not having what we need.
But what if we can’t actually run out of the things we need? What if there is always more not just available to us but always coming to us? What if abundance is the truth and scarcity is the lie?
In today’s podcast, I’m giving a new way to think about abundance in your life and the simple thing that you can do to create more of what you want and move from feelings of scarcity to abundance in any area of your life.
Right now, in the physical health space, there’s a big push to improve and increase mobility. The idea is that the more mobility you have, the more ability you have to do the things you want to do with your body. If you can’t move your body the way you want to, it can create limitations.
In the same way, the more mobility we can develop in our emotional lives—the more strength and flexibility and ability to feel and move with our emotions—the more experiences and choices become available and the greater the quality of our life.
Do you have the emotional ability to experience all the things you want in your life? Are you strong? Are you flexible? Can you move through all the experiences of your life without shutting down or numbing out?
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing the best tools to help you develop more emotional mobility so you can have more freedom, peace, and confidence as you experience all the emotions of your life.
One of the hardest things to come by these days is quiet, especially inside our own heads. We live in a world where it’s now possible to have a nearly constant stream of other voices, entertainment, distraction, and noise vying for our attention and taking up the space in our minds.
This leaves very little time or space to listen to own thoughts and process our human experience. Over time this impacts our mental fitness, makes us more anxious, reduces our attention spans, erodes our relationship with ourselves, and muffles our emotions. Unless we purposefully cultivate time for solitude and quiet, we can end up dramatically reducing our quality of life.
In today’s podcast episode I’m making a case for increasing the amount of quiet and solitude in your life and giving you some thoughts and ideas on how to be a more conscious consumer of the noise in your life and become the unfailing protector of your own attention.
My daughter is getting married in a couple of weeks and as I have anticipated this big event in her life and the creation of her new family, I have thought a lot about the things that make an awesome marriage and the things I wish I would have known when I got married.
Every marriage (and every relationship) requires work to be happy and successful, but for the most part, most of us are trying to make our marriages better by doing the wrong kind of work. The work we need to do is always in our own minds and hearts and examining our own thoughts and feelings.
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing eight things that I think every newlywed should know and whether you are brand new at marriage or have been married for decades, these thoughts will make every marriage more awesome.
For most of us, transforming and changing our lives can feel impossible and out of reach. But that’s only because when we think about transformation, we tend to focus our attention on big changes that are made in a very small amount of time.
But it turns out that the smallest changes that often go overlooked are the ones that make the biggest impact in transforming our lives.
In today’s podcast episode I’m sharing the biggest secrets to real transformation and sharing the hidden levers that will allow you to create the biggest changes in your life.

No matter what time of year it is, most of us have a lot of negative thoughts about our bodies. We’ve been told in countless ways that our bodies are not acceptable as they are, that they need fixing, and that we should be deeply ashamed of them.
This is especially true during the summer. Since the early 60’s, the idea of getting a “summer body” has purposely made us feel inadequate, implying that if we’re not toned, tanned, fit and ready for the summer, there is something wrong with us and our bodies. And for many of us, this anxiety and shame is causing us to miss out on some of the best moments of life.
In today’s podcast, I’m talking about how easy it is to believe the thoughts that say your body isn’t acceptable (in the summer or anytime!) and sharing thoughts and tools to help you see your body in a whole new way.

Today’s podcast episode is a fun one! This seems to be the year of Taylor Swift and, along with all the other Taylor Swift fans, I have spent a lot of time over the last few months following her Era’s tour and relistening to all her albums.
Taylor Swift is arguably one of the most popular and successful single music artists on the planet—and yet, she is also still a human being with a human brain. And watching the way she makes choices in her life and puts her work out into the world, despite whatever fears or insecurities her brain might have, is inspiring and one of the things I appreciate most about her.
But that’s not all!
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some of the things I admire most about Taylor Swift and the biggest lessons that I have learned by watching her because I think there are applications for all of us who want to live a rich, full life.
Brain’s don’t want to have fun. They want to save energy and protect us from threats. They keep us safe by noticing how hard things are and so even when we’re doing things we want to do, we can still feel a lot of negative emotion about it.
This week’s podcast episode is a continuation of our discussion last week on play and today we’re talking all about fun. How do we have more fun not just when we’re playing, but in all the areas of our life?
Fun is not created by the things we do; it is created by the things we think. And so if we’re going to have more fun, we have to understand the thoughts that are keeping us from feeling it. On today’s podcast I’m sharing the things that make it hard to have fun so that no matter what you’re doing, you can have as much fun as you want.
The benefits of play are well-documented. It is an important part of our mental and emotional health, but too often we trivialize or overlook it’s vital role in our lives. For most of us, play comes last, after everything else, or often, not at all.
But this is the time of year when we traditionally go on vacation, have more relaxed schedules, and allow ourselves to spend more time playing and it’s a good time to reevaluate how much play there is in your life and bring your awareness to the things that are keeping you from letting yourself play.
Today’s podcast episode is the first of a 2-part podcast series on play and fun and how to have more of both of them in our lives. Your brain is only concerned about survival, but if you want to do less surviving and more thriving, making play an intentional pursuit in your life will help you do that.
New thoughts are like currency. You can use them to purchase and create new outcomes in your life anytime you want. But you don’t have to come up with them all on your own. You can borrow new thoughts from anywhere.
Today I’m sharing three of my favorite quotes from other people that I have borrowed to help me think about who I am, the choices I’m making, my value as a human being, and my relationship with myself differently. I hope they will help you do the same.
Your brain is on a constant crusade to tell you how everything is terrible. And in many ways your brain is right. 😉 But…it isn’t all terrible. No matter what, there is always good to be found.
That’s the way this life was designed, with both good and bad. They always exist together, and just because your brain only notices the bad, it’s important to know that it isn’t ever the whole story.
It takes work and intention to notice the good but that doesn’t mean it isn’t real or that you’re just “faking it” when you look for it. The fact that it takes work just means that noticing the good is not the primary, default focus of your brain. But if you want to feel better, it can be yours.
There is always good if you are willing to look for it and in today’s podcast, I’m sharing some really helpful tools to help you notice and appreciate the good in your life.
Belonging is an important part of your human experience.
We often think that belonging is created by the place or the people we are with, but the feeling of belonging is just like any other feeling—which means it is created inside of us by our thoughts.
Belonging isn’t something that happens to you in the right circumstances, it’s something that you create whenever you want to experience it.
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing the truth about how to feel like you belong and what you can change if you don’t.
This is the time of year where many of us are celebrating the big moments—the culmination of things we have been working towards and the commencement of brand-new beginnings.
And while the big moments are exciting, to really change our lives, we have to stop putting our attention on the start line or the finish line and start paying attention to all the quiet, unassuming moments in between.
The work of our lives is really happening in the tiny, unremarkable decisions that we make day in and day out. These small choices are where the quality of our lives is built. And that means that developing consistency is one of the best skills we can have.
In today’s podcast, I’m championing the power of consistency and giving you lots of new ways to think about it. These powerful tools will help you improve your consistency so you can create a life you love.
Once you know that the way you feel and the things you do are being created by your thoughts, being able to manage those thoughts becomes a priority. But acquiring the skills to question and change your thoughts is just like any other skill—it takes practice.
And, just like swimming or playing the piano or cooking, when we’re trying to practice any new skill, the better the practice is and the more specific and targeted the rehearsals are, the faster our overall proficiency improves.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m giving you some very specific drills that you can use to improve your ability to change your thoughts and manage your brain. I break down the process of changing your thoughts into bite-sized pieces so you can bring your attention to the parts that need more practice.
These small, defined exercises will help you isolate and improve specific elements of your thought work so you can get better at changing your mind and improve your mental fitness.
To help you do this work, you can also download a pdf of all the drills here.

As a mom, you are the giver of gifts. You gave your children life and you haven’t stopped giving to them since then.
Everything you do is for your children. You think of them first, last, and all the time in between and give everything you have to help them learn and grow and be happy. And even with all that, you sometimes still worry that it’s not enough.
Today on the podcast I’m sharing the things that I think are the most important gifts you can ever give your children. But you should know that they are really gifts for you in disguise.
These are the gifts that you give your children that will make your own life better, your relationship with them sweeter, and they are the gifts that will give you more peace and more happiness in your role as a mom.

Are you good at feeling happy?
Recently I noticed that I pay a lot of attention to my negative emotions and sometimes I am much more aware of my pain than my joy. And while the goal isn’t to be happy all the time, there is a lot of value in purposefully noticing, appreciating, and cultivating more happiness in our lives.
Your emotions never make you good or bad. They are just an experience. But if you want to have more of the experience of happiness in your life, you will need to make intentional decisions to create and nurture it.
In today’s podcast, I’m sharing some thoughts on how to give yourself permission to be happy. In a world where any kind of positivity can be labeled as toxic and inauthentic, it’s important to give yourself permission to enjoy your life, allow yourself to play, and let yourself develop the skill of liking things even when your brain doesn’t want to.

Our relationships are the most important part of our lives, but they can also cause us the most pain. In the places where we want to feel the most love and joy and connection, we often end up feeling the most conflict, tension, and isolation.

But it doesn't have to be.
It’s just that everything you’ve been taught about relationships and every instinct you have are pretty much wrong. And to change the quality of your relationships, you need to understand your relationships and interact in them in a whole new way.

Your brain has a native language system—a natural, native way of thinking about who we are and what we’re capable of. We have used this language to create our identity and tell us who we are—and that informs what we do.
That means that in order to change your life, you have to change this native language system. We have to learn to speak to ourselves in a new way, with new words, and new sentences, and practice this new language enough to embed it into your life.
Choosing new thoughts is learning a new language. It won’t come automatically. Like any other language acquisition, changing your brain’s native language takes consistency and effort.
In today’s podcast I’m sharing how to use the tools of language acquisition to help you change the native language of your brain and how to be patient and love yourself while you get fluent.

When things in our life don’t turn out the way we think they should or we struggle to create the results we want, we sometimes wonder if we need to try harder or if we need to turn things over to God instead.
Is getting a life we want a matter of striving or surrender?
And how do we reconcile our agency and our power to choose our experience with God’s will and his plan for us?
In today’s podcast, I’m wrestling with the balance of taking responsibility for your life with being open and receptive to God’s plan for you. And I’m sharing a powerful way to think about your agency and God’s will to give you some guidance and help when you need to decide if it’s time to strive or surrender.
All of us want less conflict in our lives and less conflict in the world, but that desire often feels out of our control. It’s easy to feel like the amount of love we get or the amount of conflict we experience is up to other people and their choices.
But the truth is that everything we feel—whether it’s love or hate or anything in between—is always up to us. And that means that if we want to have less conflict and more love in our lives we can. We just have to know how to do it.
In today’s podcast, I’m sharing the keys to getting more love and peace and less conflict and contention in our lives, in any relationship we are in, and in the world at large. And the best part is that creating more love and peace doesn’t require anyone or anything else in the world to be different first.
When you understand what is really creating your love or really disturbing your peace then you also have the power to feel as much love and peace as you want, anytime that you want.
When you think about what you want for your life, one of the things that can get in our way is the fear that what we want might be selfish.
Going after our goals, following our desires, and paying attention to the things we want can feel self-serving and self-focused and sometimes we are suspicious of our own desires. What if we want isn’t good? What if it takes time and energy away from the other priorities in your life?
On today’s podcast, I’m talking about how our fear that pursuing our desires might be selfish can hold us back from living the fullest expression of our lives and what to do about it. I’m going to help you question how you think about selfishness, how you think about your desires, and how to reconcile pursuing the things you want with the impact that has on other people.
The hardest battle we all face is the one inside our own heads. But most of us think it should be easier in there than it is. We think we shouldn’t have to fight so hard to feel good about ourselves or positive about our lives.
But once we understand that the opposition our brain creates is there on purpose, and that nothing has gone wrong, then we can stop resisting our brain’s opposition and start doing in the work that is required to overcome it.
In today’s episode I’m showing you why thought work is supposed to be work and then what you can do to keep doing the work you need to do to take care of your brain and manage your thoughts, so that you can fight the good fight and get the most out of your life.
We are all capable of way more than we believe. To tap into our true potential and create new possibilities for ourselves, we have to allow ourselves to dream big and we have to know how to keep going.
Because even though we each have unlimited potential and are capable of creating anything we want in our lives, we aren’t capable of it all at once. We only open new possibilities to ourselves one step and one choice at a time.
Today I’m sharing a special interview I did with my endurance coach, Mario Minnaert, who recently completed Ultraman Florida, a 3-day, 321-mile ultra-triathlon and is the perfect example of doing the impossible one step at time. We talk about how to take the first steps, challenge your identity, problem solve along the way, grow your possibility, and how to do it all with love.
Usually, I’m against any kind of self-doubt, but in this week’s episode of the podcast, I’m inviting you to start doubting what you think about yourself and questioning the conclusions you’ve drawn about yourself.
When it comes to figuring out who we are and what we’re capable of, most of us are using an incomplete data set and our conclusions are holding us back. We have to start doubting what we’ve decided to believe about ourselves if we are going to progress.
In today’s episode I’m telling you why doubting what you currently believe about yourself is the key to creating something new, and I give you five important tips to help you question your conclusions so you can start doubting what you think about you.
The way we think about ourselves is so important because our thoughts about who we are is directly correlated to what our life looks like. Our personal identity dictates the choices and decisions we make, the actions we take on a daily basis, and those actions build our lives.
Who do you think you are?
The answer to that question is creating your life.
Everything you do is because of who you think you are.
On today’s podcast, I’m offering you four identity shifts to help you change the way you think about who you are and what you’re capable of. For anybody who wants to change their life or get more from themselves, it all starts with the way you think about yourself.
We have officially reached 200 episodes of the podcast! And if you’ve been listening to the podcast for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me say many times that you and your life are 100% awesome.
But how can that be when your life contains both good and bad, as much that is difficult and challenging as enjoyable and fulfilling?
And how can you be 100% awesome when you are also 100% human which means that you are both good and bad, amazing and terrible, and that you are going to make at least as many mistakes as do things right?
On today’s episode of the podcast we get to hear from some of you in the audience about how the podcast has impacted your lives and I’m sharing why I think the wholeness of you and the wholeness of your human experience makes you and your life 100% awesome.

On this special bonus episode of the podcast, I’m sharing a brand new way to work with me and the three words that are the driving force behind everything I do in my business.
Whenever my brain thinks what I’m doing is too hard or too scary or when it points out my inadequacies, these three words remind me of the reason that I’m doing any of it in the first place and they help me to keep doing my work in the world.
I also invite you to think about your own contribution in the world—what you are creating for yourself or others—and the words that guide and motivate you. When you find your why and the reason you do what you do, it makes it so much easier to create the things you want even when your brain tries to stop you.

Most of us have a desire to be great, for our lives to matter, to make the most of our time here on earth. But at the very same time, we’re all just trying to survive. We’re full of dreams and desires for more, but also inundated with fear and self-doubt and insecurity. We all want to live our best lives but also, life is hard and we experience real suffering.
How do we navigate this experience? How do we reconcile our desires for more with the realities of just trying to get through the day?
Coaching gives us powerful tools to be able to do both of these things—to push our personal limits and handle the pain and vulnerability that comes with being a human. In today’s episode, I’m sharing why I think coaching gives you everything you need to deal with the trouble of being human and get the fullest experience from your time here on earth.
Sometimes it feels like our life just exists, as it is, without any say from us and we spend most our time reacting to it. But the reality is that you are always creating your life. Even when you don’t know it!
Our lives are created one decision, one choice at a time. And most of the time those choices are being made unnoticed and unexamined inside our own heads. But when you truly understand the creative power of choices, and the built-in, unchanging power you always have to make any choice, then you have the ability to alter your reality in any way you want.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the three keys of creation and how to use them to get what you want.

What gets your attention? What are the things that your brain returns to again and again, day after day? Are the things you are giving your attention to creating the results that you want?
When we aren’t paying attention to our attention, our brains can focus on things that are unproductive, distracting, and even detrimental to creating the things we really want.
Your attention is your most powerful resource for creating your life, but it the amount of attention you have is a fixed quantity. You only have so much of it to give and if you are spending your attention in ways that don’t line up with your priorities, it may be time to reevaluate what’s getting your attention.
In this week’s episode of the podcast, we’ll evaluate whether the things we give our attention to are really creating the things we want and how to shift our attention when they’re not.

We know that everybody has the right to choose. But what do we do when our thoughts about what’s right or wrong or what’s good or bad don’t line up with other people’s choices? Especially when those other people are people that we love?
Our brains like to notice, worry about, and judge other people’s choices, but this puts all of our focus in a place where we have no control and causes us to focus on the wrong problem.
In today’s podcast episode, I am sharing four principles that will help you stop judging others, love them as they are even when you think they are doing it wrong, and put your attention on your own business of loving instead of on their business of choosing.

It’s easy to think that our problems and difficulties are getting the way of our best lives. We often think we’ve got to fix ourselves and conquer our limitations before we can get onto the “important work” that we came to earth to do.
But I believe that within the challenge of our own personal limitations, there is a priceless opportunity to do the very work of learning to choose that we’re all here to do.
In today’s podcast episode, I’ll show you how to use your difficulties to increase your ability to choose and how the more responsibility we take for our lives, the more power we have to get all the things we really want, despite any of our limitations.

This is the season of self-improvement. Almost everywhere you look someone is talking about goals and fresh starts and changing our lives. And for our naturally critical brains, this can be added fuel to notice all the things that are wrong with us and all the things that need fixing.
Today’s podcast episode is a reminder to choose to like yourself as you. Right now. No matter what goals you are or are not pursuing. Being able to like yourself is never based on the things you do or don’t do. Liking yourself is something that can only happen inside your mind.
Learning to like yourself isn’t something you do once. It is ongoing, daily work that we all have to do as long as we are alive. In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing three simple, daily practices that you can do to like yourself and improve your relationship with you.
One of the easiest ways our brain can stop us from getting the life we want is by telling us that it’s going to take a lot of effort, a lot of work, and a lot of time. We think we need to make huge, sweeping changes and we end up trying to do too much too fast, which leads to burn out and quitting.
Our brain tries to talk us out of small, daily action by telling us that we aren’t really making any progress day-by-day. However, your brain is underestimating the effect of cumulative action and even tiny effort adds up into significant accomplishment over time. That means that the more often we do the little things, the more our life starts to change in big ways.
Instead of taking huge steps, what we really need is to make a small effort, consistently, over a long period of time. On today’s podcast, I’m giving you lots of encouragement and tools to be able to start (and keep) doing the little things that make the biggest difference.
A lot of us like to set goals at the beginning of a new year, only to find ourselves getting frustrated, giving up, and ditching our goals before the end of January. This isn’t because there is something wrong with us—it’s because your brain is specifically programmed to sabotage the work you need to do to achieve your goals.
Goal setting is easy, but goal achieving isn’t. To make it easier, on today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing the top 12 mistakes that I have made or that I’ve seen others make on their way to their goals.
Knowing and then avoiding these 12 mistakes can increase your chances of success, prevent you from stopping, and make achieving your goals inevitable!

At the close of one year and the start of another, our brains often become reflective. This can be a good time to look at your life and check in with yourself to see if you are creating the things you want in your life and decide what you want to do next.
Usually when your brain does this, it can tend to be critical of your past and skeptical of your future and this is not helpful. In today’s podcast, I’m sharing an exercise that will help you evaluate last year and plan the next one in the most powerful and productive way possible.
Instead of letting your brain dwell on your “failures” or generate an overwhelming, interminable “fix-it list,” use today’s podcast to build your relationship with yourself, learn more about yourself, and inspire your best year ever!

What if you could get a compilation of your thoughts for the year? What if your brain could give you a summary list of the sentences you thought the most, the thoughts you spent the most time with, and the words that ran through your mind more than any others?
Today on the podcast, I did an honest assessment of the thoughts I spent the year with and looked at what they created in my life. I found powerful, useful thoughts that allowed me to do lots of things I wanted and plenty of thoughts that didn’t.
In this episode, I invite you to examine your own thoughts and think about the words you spend the most time with. What do you want to stop thinking? What do you want to start thinking? What is the one sentence, that if you thought it more than any other, would change your life more than any other?
When you change the words in your head or the ratio of time you spend with them, it will change what you create in your life.

When I think about the differences between me today and me five years ago—and I see the differences in my body or my money or my relationships or my daily activities or my spiritual life—it is shocking how differently these two versions of me are experiencing our lives.
It can be tempting to think that these two versions of me are living different lives because I am taking different actions and making different choices every day. But that is only happening because what I am thinking.
All the changes in my life are there because I think differently than I used to.

Sometimes we’re scared to pursue our goals and dreams. Sometimes we even have the thought that maybe its selfish or self-centered to pursue what we want. Sometimes we can think that pursuing our own wants and desire is indulgent and that with all the trouble in the world, maybe what we want isn’t important and we shouldn’t be concentrating on it.
But I want you to notice something…everything you love and appreciate in your life is there because someone followed their own desires.
In today’s podcast, I’ll show you that not only are your desires good, but they come from God, and they are there to help you grow and they allow you to bless others. If you trust your desires and are willing to do the work to create the things you want in your life, you have the incredible opportunity to expand your own life experience and the experience of others.

You don’t have to love everybody.
But you can if you want to.
We are about to enter the time of year when we have lots of get-togethers with our families and friends. That’s a lot of human brains (who all think differently!) sharing the same space and gathering around the same table. That also means there are also going to be plenty of opportunities to have all kinds of thoughts and feelings about these other humans.
Your brain doesn’t want to choose love. Your brain is only interested in what’s gone wrong. And around your holiday table, it’s going to be really focused on other people’s choices and how they way the choose to think or feel or act is a problem.
Since you’ve never had any control over other people or their choices (no matter how much you disagree with them), the way to feel more love and peace around your table to is look at your own choices and make sure you agree with those—especially when it comes to choosing how much love you want to feel.
In today’s podcast episode I’m sharing why it’s sometimes hard to love everyone around the table and what you can do if you want to.

All of us want to be happier. But that’s actually part of the problem. Our constant desire for happiness, pleasure, ease, and contentment and our easy-access to dopamine-triggering activities and substances is causing most of us to end up in a dopamine deficit. This means that the more we pursue pleasure, the more pain we end up feeling.
In today’s podcast episode, I explain how your brain’s dopamine response works and how our pleasure is directly related to our pain. I’ll show you how trying to avoid the painful part of our lives is throwing us out of balance and causing our brain to down regulate the amount of dopamine it creates, leaving us with depression, anxiety, and even withdrawal symptoms.
If we want to create more lasting happiness in our lives we need to consider intentionally reducing how much pleasure we have and purposefully increasing the amount of discomfort we experience so that we can heal our brain’s dopamine deficit.

We’ve all had the experience of deciding to change something in our lives or work on a new goal or pursue a dream, only to find ourselves “not wanting to do it” when the time comes to actually get to work and do it.
Our brains are really good at thinking “I don’t want to,” and even though it doesn’t seem like a very important or significant thought, it is probably the thought that prevents most of our goals and dreams from happening.
In this week’s podcast episode, I’m explaining why “I don’t want to” is almost always a lie and what to do when you brain tells it to you so that you stop believing you don’t want to and start getting all the things you really want.

It’s easy to think that we should always be happy and, given the relative and ease and comfort of our lives, we also think that happiness should be easy to get and easy to sustain.
But the truth is that our human experience is a full of highs and lows. All of our lives are made up of contrasting emotional experiences, and we are here on earth to feel the full spectrum of human emotion. This means that we will all have times in our life where it feels like a fight to be happy.
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing some thoughts to give you hope when things are dark, and I share ten things to remember when your thoughts feel dark and heavy and you find yourself struggling to be happy.

The lessons I got from completing the 29029 ultra-endurance event just keep coming. In this final episode, recapping and recounting the things I learned through this experience, I am sharing what I learned on the mountain on a spiritual level.
On that mountain I came to know more about me and more about God and more about my relationship with him than ever before. And I hope these thoughts will help you think about love and sacrifice and suffering and endurance in new ways.
Whatever challenges you are facing, you are not alone in them and the suffering and pain you experience can create a portal through which you can better understand God’s deep and enduring love for you.

I recently completed 29029, an ultra-endurance event in which participants climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest in 36 hours. Even though I had prepared for nine months for the event, I learned pretty quickly that preparation alone wasn’t going to be enough to get me to the finish line.
29029 was so much harder than I thought it would be. It required so much more out of me than I anticipated, but through this experience I also figured out that was stronger than I ever thought I was. I was surprised at what I found out about myself, how deep my courage and commitment went, and what I am really capable of.
I want you to have that experience in your own life. In today’s podcast, I’m sharing five ideas to encourage you to set big goals, blow your own mind, and keep going long after your brain says you should give up. Your Everest is waiting…go climb it!

I recently completed the 29029 Everesting event, an ultra-endurance event in which participants climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest in 36 hours. This was the most challenging physical event I’ve ever participated in and I learned lots of mental and emotional lessons along the way.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m breaking down my experience of the 29029 event on Whistler mountain and sharing all the things that I learned about myself, about my brain, and about our ability to achieve so much more than we think we’re capable of.
No matter what challenge you are currently working on, the lessons I learned will help you see yourself and your experience differently, and strengthen your ability to endure, overcome, and eventually, triumph!

Queen Elizabeth once gave a speech and speaking of our life experience, she said: "We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.”
This is such a powerfully simple statement about the purpose of our lives.
We have all been given the gift of life. You are here. And all that is left is to decide how you are going to spend your visit.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I want to encourage you to make the most of your visit to earth, to use the days you have to do the things you want to do as you pass through this place and show you what gets in the way of that.
You are visiting earth and you get to do whatever you want while you are here and today I’m sharing some powerful thoughts to help you do that.

Over the last nine months I have been training for a big endurance event called 29029, in which the participants climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest (29,029 feet) in 36 hours.
Before I started training for this event, I couldn’t climb more than a few hundred feet, but over time, I have increased both my physical and mental endurance and learned some powerful lessons about overcoming my brain as I have worked toward this goal. I have never been an athlete, but over time my body has changed and adapted to meet this challenge—and if that’s possible for me, I know it’s possible for you!
In today’s podcast, I’m sharing some of the most valuable lessons I have learned as I have trained and prepared for this endurance event in the hopes that they will help you as you face the challenges in your own life. You are capable of so much more than you think and I hope this episode will show you that and inspire you as you work toward your own goals.

What would it be like to be your biggest fan? To scream and cheer and applaud and approve of yourself and the things you do?
For most of us, because we have a brain, approving of ourselves isn’t easy or natural. In fact, it usually feels necessary and important to criticize ourselves. Noticing where we’re failing and how we’re coming up short seems like the best way to change and get where we want to be.
But the truth is that approval is the most powerful creative force in the world and cheering for yourself (instead of tearing yourself down) is the best way to create more of what you want in your life.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing three important practices that will help you be the number one member of your own fan club so that you can stop playing small and start sharing your gifts with the world.

How do you know the things you believe about yourself are true?
Is it because you’ve always believed them? Is it because it’s what your parents told you about yourself or because it’s what everyone else thinks? Does it just “feel true?”
When we go to believe new things about ourselves, we can feel a lot of resistance to the new thoughts (even if they are amazing thoughts!) because our brain often prioritizes and validates our original thoughts and hates being wrong. And while it’s true that we get to believe whatever we want, our brain feels much more comfortable believing the things it has always thought.
In today’s episode, I’m offering you lots of help if you are trying to believe new things about yourself but your brain keeps resisting them. These tools will empower you to choose your thoughts based on the results you want to create instead of your brain’s preferences.

Most of us realize how precious our life is, we know how lucky we are to be alive, and we want to do something important with the time we’ve been given.
But life is busy. We have lots of obligations and expectations and a lot of our time gets used up unconsciously. When we think about all that we want to do in comparison to all that we have to do, it can create a lot of stress and overwhelm and make us think that we’re wasting our life or squandering our time. How do we balance it all and make the most of our time?
The truth is that we can’t manage time. We have no control over time. The only thing we ever have control over is our own minds. Deciding what we’re going to think about our time is going to create our feelings and those will drive all of our actions with it.
In today’s podcast I’m giving you a couple of different ways to think about time and the choices you are making with it. This will give you a new perspective about how much time you really have and how much power you have to use it to get the life you want.

Feeling scared and hopeless is a normal part of the human experience. We are all going to have moments when our inadequacies and our deficiencies are going to feel overwhelming in comparison with what is required of us and our brains are going to tell us that we don’t have what it takes, that we can’t possibly do it, and we should just give up.
But the real problem isn’t our inadequacies. The real problem is our expectations.
We all have expectations (which are really just made-up thoughts) about what we should be capable of, what we should already be good at, or what we should have already accomplished. And when we look at our inadequacies from the perspective of these arbitrary expectations, we get really scared about failing and we feel hopeless about ever being good enough.
Today’s podcast is a love letter to all of you who are feeling scared and hopeless, mostly because of your own expectations. I’m going to give you some new ways to think about your expectations, your failures, your feelings, and your human experience, so that you can feel better and know that, no matter what happens, you are always okay.

Our feelings are always created by our thoughts. So when we feel bad and we want to change that and feel better, we do that by changing our thoughts.
However, this can be easier said than done. Sometimes it can be hard to shift our heavy, negative thoughts and it can feel impossible to find new thoughts to think. But there are some ways to make this easier.
In today’s podcast I’m sharing six shortcuts to feeling better. These actions don’t in and of themselves make us feel better (only our thoughts do that), but they can create a change in our physical state that shakes things up a bit and creates a space to access new thoughts.
If you are feeling bad and having a hard time changing your thoughts, taking any one of these shortcuts can generate a different energy to help you get into a different mindset easier and faster than simply trying to think your way there.

Most of us get married and have a family so that we can have more happiness and feel more love in our lives. But the reality is that it’s just as hard to choose happiness in love in family life as it is anywhere else in our lives.
A family is really just a bunch of human brains (all of which are programmed to find the negative and notice what’s gone wrong) that are all living together, sharing the same space, and having lots and lots chances to interact and have thoughts about each other. You’ve probably noticed how hard it is to manage just one human brain…now imagine the difficulties that might arise with more than one brain involved.
And while this is challenging, this is also what makes being a family the perfect vehicle for you to learn the most important lesson of life—how to choose love no matter what.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing five things that will help you have more happiness and more love in your family and they probably aren’t the things you think.

In today’s podcast episode I’m answering a few questions that I’ve received recently:
Once you become aware of what’s happening in your brain, shouldn’t it get easier to resolve the conflict between your brain and your spirit?
If life is really 50/50, why does it seem like my brain only gives me 100% negative thoughts?
What happens if agency (either the way I use mine or the way someone else uses theirs) messes up God’s plan or goes against his will?
I think the answers I share will help you think about your agency differently and help you become a better chooser and a better creator in your life.
Remember that your brain is always busy asking questions and the answers our brain gives us are in direct relation to the quality of these questions. We can make a huge impact on the quality of the answers we are getting in our lives by intentionally asking our brain more powerful, useful questions.

When it comes to the story of your life, your brain is the most unreliable narrator there is. It wants to tell you that you did it wrong in the past, that it’s too hard in the present, and that you can’t have what you want in the future.
But it turns out your brain is wrong about all of this.
Your brain is programmed to find what’s wrong with you, help you avoid feeling pain and spending energy, and notify you of any and all possible dangers. This means your brain is very good at keeping you alive, but it can’t be trusted to tell the truth. And the more skeptical you can be about your brain’s negative narration, the more ability you have to create a life that you love.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m teaching how to question your brain’s version of things and retell the story of your past, your present and your future, in a completely different way than your brain is telling it, so that you can harness your power to write (and live!) the story of your dreams.

You make thousands of choices every day—when you get up, what you eat, how you move your body, who you love, how you treat people, how happy you are—all just optional ways to live your life. Nothing you choose makes you better or worse, but each choice takes you somewhere specific.
When you understand that your own choices (and nothing else) determine your destination, and that you have the power to go anywhere you want to go, then all that’s left is to figure out how to manage your brain to make the choices that will get you there.

Othering is a way of putting distance between yourself and others. It often involves seeing others as different than you in negative and insufficient ways.
But we can also “other” ourselves by telling ourselves that we aren’t like other people, that we can’t be like them, that we can’t create what they have, that we are more limited than other people, and that this means that we are lacking, inadequate, or less than other people.
Our brains love to tell us that we are different in all the wrong ways and this kind of thinking drastically limits our ability to create the lives we really want to be living.
In today’s podcast, I’m sharing three important concepts to help you stop “othering” yourself so that you can tap into your incredible, God-given power to create anything you want in your life.

Whether we know it or not, we are all deciding our lives. Every decision we make, one at time, moment by moment, add up to create the reality of our lives.
This means that we are never stuck where we are. If we are always deciding our life, that means that we always also have the power to decide something else anytime we want to. When you realize that you are a creator even with your unintentional decisions, it can inspire you to see what’s possible to create when you start making intentional ones.
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing a powerful and simple new way to think about how to decide your life and use that decision to create the reality you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/decide-your-life
You are good.
You aren’t good because of what you do. You aren’t good because of the results you create in your life. You aren’t good because of your habits, your choices, or your behaviors.
I mean you are good. Fundamentally.
And as a human with a brain, it’s really easy to forget this. Our brains almost universally tell us that we are bad, that we are wrong, that we aren’t enough.
And when our brain is telling us these things, one of two things can happen: either we wear ourselves out in an endless quest of trying to make up for our lack and prove our worthiness, or we give up and stop trying altogether because it feels impossible to ever be good enough.
On today’s podcast, I want to show you how you are good, and how there is nothing you can do to change that. Because when you know that for sure, then you can stop defining yourself (either good or bad) by your choices—which is the first step to choosing something else when you’re ready.

Every area of our life is created by the thoughts we think—including our sexual experience. If we think thoughts that create shame or frustration or guilt or resentment, that’s going to make an impact on the kind of experience we are having. If we nurture thoughts that create hope, curiosity, compassion, fun, joy, or excitement, those thoughts are going to create something entirely different.
Most of the thoughts we have about sex have been given to us by others. We receive message from our parents, our culture and society, our religious and church leaders, movies and media…and for the most part these thoughts go unquestioned and unexamined, especially because many of us feel uncomfortable talking about sex.
In today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing how I changed my thoughts about sex and pleasure and offer you an opportunity to examine your own thoughts and then intentionally decide what you want to think and believe. If you want to change any part of your sexual experience you can start by changing what’s happening in your head.

One of the relationships we have the most conflict in is the one we have with our own inner critic. Sometimes it feels like no matter what we do, our brain is going to have something negative to say about it.
While having a brain (and therefore an active inner critic) is just part of being a human, we have more power than we know to quiet, diminish, and silence that critical inner voice and heal the ongoing conflict we have inside ourselves.
In today’s podcast episode, I give you practical, actionable steps so that you can quiet and heal your inner critic, make peace with yourself, and have lots more approval of yourself.

I teach my clients that no matter what change they want to make in their lives, it is a simple three step process: awareness, acceptance, and adjustment.
Of these steps, acceptance can be the hardest principle to understand and apply because usually the very fact that we want to change something means that there is a part of us that doesn’t like how things are and doesn’t want to accept it.
So how do we do this? How do we accept where we are while we are simultaneously trying to get somewhere else?
Sometimes it can feel like these two ideas are in opposition to each other. But, acceptance is not the enemy of change, acceptance is the necessary partner of change. It’s not acceptance or change, it’s acceptance AND change.
This week on the podcast, I’m sharing some things I have recently learned about acceptance by watching one of my children make a change in their life. Their experience has lessons for all of us who want things to be different but need to step into acceptance before things can change.

We live in a world where everybody has the right to choose actions that impact everyone else and we also live in a world that works according to natural law. These two realities mean that tragedy, accidents, injustice, crime, catastrophe, and disaster are an inherent part of your human experience. And sometimes this is terrifying. Sometimes it feels like there is too much pain and too much uncertainty, too much unpredictability and too much vulnerability to handle. In today’s podcast episode, I am offering some thoughts to consider in the face of tragedy—not so that you can feel good about bad things, but to help you get good at choosing how you want to feel and using that choice to create safety and love, even in a world that you do not control.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/162
It’s really easy for our brains to associate negative emotion with things that are bad or things that we should avoid. So what do we do when we feel bad at church? Isn’t church the place where you are supposed to feel love, supported, included, not judged, welcome, needed, and uplifted? What do you do when you feel burdened, angry, lonely, judged, or condemned in the place that is supposed to help and heal you?
The truth is that church is no different than any other part of our mortal lives…it is taking place in a fallen world among people who have human brains. This means that church is not exempt from judgment, misunderstanding, offense, or even harm. And amazingly, none of that is a problem. In fact, all of it is happening by divine design.
This week on the podcast, I’m talking about what do when you feel terrible at church, how to handle being hurt by people who are supposed to be following a higher standard of love, and how to use all of the triggering moments at church for your benefit.

In the early 90’s, Gatorade ran an ad campaign called “Be Like Mike.” The idea was that if you wanted to have the skills and the experiences that Michael Jordan had, all you had to do was drink Gatorade like he did.
All of us have people in our lives that we admire and want to be more like. And if being like them was as easy as making one choice the same way they make that one choice, more of us would probably be able to do it. But the truth is that who we are, and the skills we develop, and the experiences we have are created by a lifetime of choices.
This week my husband, David, turned 50 and this birthday milestone gave me the opportunity to think about all the things I love and admire about him and the choices that he makes to be the person he is.
I’m sharing that list on the podcast this week because as I thought about it, I realized that David’s choices are creating a pretty incredible life experience for himself. Because of who he chooses to be and how he chooses to show up in his life, David gets to feel more love, more curiosity, more grace, more fun, more generosity, more compassion…more of the time.
The best part is that feeling like this isn’t just reserved for David. I love knowing that these choices are just as available to you and me as they are to him. We all get to choose. And our lives are created by those choices. Anybody you want to be, any characteristic you want to have, anything you want to feel, is just a choice away.

Most of us have a deep, biologic instinct to please other people. Not only does people pleasing feel necessary to maintain good relationships, sometimes we even think that it is altruistic and noble and good to put someone else’s opinions, needs, and preferences above our own.
But the truth is that people pleasing creates resentful, inauthentic relationships that are based on pretending and lying. This not only creates tension between us and the people in our lives, it also erodes our relationship with ourselves.
So how do we reconcile the things we want with the things other people want from us? How do we honor our own needs while fulfilling our desire to help and serve others?
On today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing why people pleasing keeps us from the loving, authentic relationships we want to have, how to overcome your need to people please, and how to prioritize to your own desires while still loving and caring for other people.

Our brain’s number one job is to keep us alive. All the thoughts that it offers us day in and day out are meant to protect us in order to meet this objective. However, the very thoughts that our brain offers to keep us alive are also the very thoughts that can keep us from actually living the life we really want to live.
Over the past month, I’ve had some experiences that have reminded me again how lucky I am to have the chance to be alive and that the only thing that keeps me from boldly getting everything I want from that life are the fears and doubts of my own brain.
Today on the podcast, I am sharing three lessons I have learned over the past month that have given me a new appreciation for my life and a new perspective on where my brain is holding me back, to help you make the most of the earth life experience you have been given.

There probably isn’t a job with more responsibility or higher expectations than motherhood. However, our thoughts about our responsibilities as a mom and whether or not we are meeting the expectations of the job can make mothering even harder.
What we sometimes forget is that we are mothering other humans. And those other humans get as much agency and choice as we do.
When we tangle our work and our results as parents with our children’s choices, we can inadvertently put too much pressure on ourselves and our children and this can create strain and pain in our relationships.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I help you see where you may be unknowingly delegating your validation, success, and happiness in motherhood to your children and how to think in a way that allows you to meet your own emotional needs so you can get more joy out of your sacred work as a mother.

Every human being struggles with thoughts and feelings of doubt and fear and discouragement and if you have listened to my podcast for any length of time you have heard me explain that this is because of the way our brains are biologically programmed. Noticing what’s wrong with us is our brain’s way of ensuring our survival.
However, this is just one way of looking at our experience with negative thoughts. On today’s podcast, I interview my dad, Dennis Deaton, about his new book in which he offers the idea that our thoughts are actually coming from two opposing sources: from God and from the adversary.
In our discussion, we talk about our different perspectives on the origin of our thoughts, the power in recognizing that we are not our thoughts, and the importance of overcoming our negative thoughts and choosing on purpose what we want to think so we can move forward in the face of fear, doubt and discouragement.

God and the grace he offers us is the biggest source of strength we have in challenging times, but most of us aren’t accessing that strength and asking for his help because we think he’s mad or disappointed or frustrated with us.
Nothing could be further from the truth and understanding God’s infinite love and constant approval of you will change your relationship with him.
In today’s podcast I’m sharing four ways to think about how God feels about you that will allow you to give up your shame and regret and turn to him for help and strength and confidence as you change and grow.

Your brain’s really good at seeing what’s gone wrong. But that is only ever half of the story.
There is also a whole lot of wonder happening in your life right now and in today’s podcast, I want to put all your attention on that.
Your life is a gift, exactly as it is, and no matter what’s happening, no matter where we are or what reality we are living, there is always the wonder of growth, of choice, of creation, of starting over, and of love available to every one of us.
Chris Ballas wrote, “The goal of adulthood is to let go of the other possible existences and to make the best of the one. A successful adult is one who understands that it doesn’t matter which life you ultimately pick, only that you live it well.”
In today’s episode I’m showing you how to embrace the wonder found in your one life so that you can live it the way you want to.

Your brain’s number one job is to keep you alive and, for the most part it, does this by keeping you small and safe and doing things you’ve always done in the way you’ve always done them. Your brain has very little interest in you living your fullest, biggest, bravest life and so every time you go to change and grow and create more from your life, it’s going to put up a lot of resistance. The way we move forward anyway is by choosing thoughts that allow us to keep taking action even when our brain wants us to stop. And one of the most fun and powerful way to get these thoughts is through music.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some of my favorite thoughts—thoughts that help me keep going when my brain wants to quit—that I found while listening to my favorite workout playlist. I hope they encourage you to keep going after all the things you want no matter what your brain says!
If you want to follow along to the playlist you can do that at this link on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3Xp7ZxwrFOTJbysbwDDyZE?si=8PIG3KyuQImixGE2jFqvdg

The most powerful force in our lives is thought. Our thoughts have more constructive or destructive power than anything else in the world.
And our thoughts don’t just change us. They change history. They change the world.
Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by how much we want to change in our lives and how many thoughts we have that are not serving us. But the truth is that thought is such a powerful force, that even changing one thought can create a ripple with exponential impact and significant, far-reaching consequences for ourselves and others.
You don’t have to change every thought you have. But every thought you change will change your life. And it won’t stop there. It will change the world around you as well.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m inviting you to notice the thoughts that have created your current life. And then consider the power of changing your mind and the inevitable impact that choice will have on your future.

Even when we are ready to change our lives and we’re sick and tired of being sick and tired and even when we’ve decided that coaching is the way we want to make those changes, our fear and anxiety can still keep us from signing up. Because it turns out that just like anything else in our lives, our brains have thoughts about coaching. They have thoughts about us and whether we deserve coaching and whether we need coaching and whether it will really work for us. We have thoughts about the money and the time and the coach and the program.
All of these thoughts produce feelings—and if we feel scared or unsure about signing up for coaching, it’s because these thoughts are making us feel bad enough to keep us from taking action.
This means that if you want to sign up for coaching these thoughts need to be examined and challenged.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the thoughts that can create fear for us when we want to choose coaching and how to question those thoughts so you can move forward and get the coaching you want anyway.

Because our brains think approval from others is necessary for our survival, most of us are pretty good at meeting other people’s expectations and not letting other people down.
However, when it comes to us and keeping our commitments to ourselves, it’s a whole lot harder to count on us.
But having a rock-solid relationship with yourself and knowing that you can count on you is one of the best feelings in the world and it’s the key to creating the life you want. Being able to count on you is a superpower.
Imagine what would happen in your life if you did everything you said you were going to do. Imagine what you could create if you knew that once you decided something, it was as good as done. What would be possible if you knew you would never give up no matter how hard it was? What if you knew you could always count on you?
In today’s episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the skills you need to be able to count on yourself no matter what and use this superpower to get everything you want.

Our brain wants to tell us that change is too big, too hard, too out of reach—that the difference between where we are and where we want to be is just too far to ever be possible.
But we only ever have to take one step at a time and the best first step is to sign up for coaching. Coaching not only makes any change practical, doable, and possible, it also teaches you how to love yourself all the way there.
My next coaching group starts the first week in April and now is the perfect time to take the first step and sign up.

We all have goals and dreams for our lives. Each one of us has nudges and urges and desires to grow and change, increase our capacity, and amazing things with our lives.
And yet, more often than not, we find ourselves not doing the things we say we want to do.
We make plans, we make declarations, we get sick and tired of being sick and tired and we tell ourselves that “This is it! We’re done going through the motions. This time we’re gonna get different results.”
And yet, mostly we just find ourselves staying the same.
If this sounds familiar, I want you to know there’s a good reason for this. You are not broken or damaged or unfit as a human. We all actually have lots of good reasons for staying the same and when you know the reasons, when you’re aware of why you stay the same, you are much better equipped to change that pattern and create something different.
In today’s episode I’m sharing all the reasons we stay the same so that you can overcome them if you ‘re ready to create something different in your life.

Being a human is incredibly challenging. But what makes things even harder is the nearly constant nagging and criticism that can come from our own brains. Many of us are especially harassed and bothered with the thought that we should be different—in. every. way. One of the gifts of coaching is being able to see that every one of these thoughts is optional and unnecessary. And when we stop believing them and stop thinking that we should be different, then we are free to be ourselves and heal the world in the way only we can.
On this episode of the podcast, I want to answer back to some of your brain’s thoughts about how you “should be different,” to help heal the wounds your own brain is inflicting on you and encourage you to not let these thought errors keep you from contributing your own healing to others.

Recently, my husband and my daughter were both “released” from their service assignments in our church. Their experience of the end of their service and the grief they have felt at the end of these sweet periods in their lives have reminded me that there is a release date ahead for every one of us.
Our earth life experience is limited. We only have so many days, we only have so many hours, to have this human experience. Someday it will end for every one of us, but we can use this reality to empower us to make the most of our time here.
On today’s podcast episode, I’m sharing how powerful it can be to live your life with the end in mind. It can allow you to clarify your intentions, help you overcome your brain, motivate you to stop waiting, and use the precious opportunity you have to choose to create what you want right now.

There is a very real fight happening in your life every single day—the fight between what your brain wants and what you (as an eternal, spiritual being) want. And I want you to win that contest. I want you to win your life.
Your brain is solely working for your body. It’s doing what it thinks is best for your body in any given moment and it is motivated by pleasure, the avoidance of pain, and the conservation of energy. Your brain is not working for your spirit.
Which is really good to know. This means that every thought your brain has is in service to your body and not your spirit. But the good news is that your spirit always has the last say. Your spirit is the one that decides. It’s the one that chooses what you are going to do no matter what your brain says. Your spirit has all the deciding power.
And when you know that, you can win your life one decision at a time.
On today’s episode I’m sharing five things that I think will help you win the fight against your brain and create the life you want.

You all know I’m a massively huge fan of coaching. It changed my life in every possible way and the best part is that that change is not done. The changes that have happened in my perspective, my awareness, my creation, my possibility, and my capacity are only just beginning.
On today’s episode of the podcast, I am joined by my son, Caleb Price, who is also a certified life coach, and we talk about what makes coaching so awesome, how it’s different than anything else that you’ve tried, and why getting coached on your own brain and your own thoughts has way more impact than learning these concepts on the podcast.
Maybe you have wondered if coaching can make as big of an impact in your life as it has on mine or if coaching is right for you. If so, this episode is for you! Come see how hiring a coach today can change your life forever.

There are just so many circumstances in our lives that we cannot change.
Some of them are mistakes we make, some of them are mistakes other people make, some of them are just the result of living in a fallen world where there are accidents and death and disease.
And even though we live in a reality with circumstances that we cannot change and cannot control, our human tendency is to argue with this and resist the pain and discomfort associated with reality.
But resisting what is happening in our lives leaves us powerless and exhausted. Alternatively, when we accept and open to whatever is happening for us, all of our real choices become available and our true power to change our lives is revealed.
In this week’s episode of the podcast, I’m showing you how to drop your resistance to what is, how to stop arguing for your expectations and your ideas of what should be, and how to use your agency to powerfully control the only thing you ever get to control: yourself.

When we think about creating new habits, we naturally tend to focus our attention on our behaviors and actions.
But each of us also have mental habits, thoughts that we have thought repeatedly and often, sometimes for years or even decades of our lives. The more we think the same thought, in fact every time we think the thought, the deeper and more efficient our neural pathways to that thought become—making our most repeated thoughts easy to think and easy to believe and more and more automatic.
In order to change our lives, we have to identify and replace our unproductive thought patterns and create new thought habits. But that is easier said than done because of all the practice our brain has had thinking the old thoughts.
In today’s episode, I’ll show you how to find, notice, and replace your old thought habits and I’ll share the best ways to do the intentional and consistent mental work to create brand new thought habits on purpose.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/143
A lot of us spend a lot of time in our lives trying to figure out why we’re here and what we’re supposed to be doing while we’re here. This can leave us trying to find fulfilment and purpose through the things we do—and this is a stressful way to live. Instead of figuring out what we WANT to do, we get preoccupied with what we HAVE to do or what we SHOULD be doing and measuring our worth according to how we are doing it.
The problem comes from thinking our identity, purpose, and intention are all the same thing when they aren’t. Who you are and why you’re here are completely independent of what you choose to do with your life and there is so much freedom and relief in knowing that.
In today’s podcast episode I want to show you the really important differences between your identity, your purpose, and your intention. Because when you really understand that who you are and why you’re here has nothing to do with what you do, then everything you choose to do becomes more joyful.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/142
When we set goals or go to create new things in our lives, we often feel excited and motivated and energized. However, these feelings don’t last very long. Because our brain’s objective is always to get us to stop, the positive emotions that were there when we set the goal are usually quickly replaced by negative ones.
This is a problem because our emotions fuel and power our actions. In order to not stop and to continue to create the results we want, we need to purposefully choose useful emotions to help us take action when our brain wants us to quit.
On today’s podcast, I share some of the most useful emotions I know—courage, curiosity, compassion, and certainty—so that you can continue towards your goals when your brain bombards you with negative emotion. Your brain is going to offer you all kinds of reasons to stop on your way to the things you want, but knowing how to access these four powerful emotions will give you the tools to keep going and create any result you want in your life.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/141
When we go to change our lives, our brains automatically go to work trying to figure out what we need to do differently. We make lots of goals and plans. We set up new systems and schedule and resolve to stick to them. But changing what we do without changing our thoughts doesn’t work for long.
This new year, I want you to think about the power of changing your thoughts instead of your actions. And especially, to think about the power of changing even one thought.
Think about a thought that you think on a regular basis that causes pain or procrastination, a thought that causes regret or resistance, a thought that causes you to stall or sabotage. Think about the power of changing that thought and thinking something much more powerful for a whole year. That one change would have an incalculable effect on your life.
In today’s episode, I invite you to just choose one thought to change your new year and I’m offering a few suggestions of thoughts that have changed mine.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/140
The end of the year is always a good time to reflect on our growth and the things we are learning while we are here on earth. Most of us think we know the way things should go, but life is always giving us the exact lessons we need. Everything happens FOR us, and I think it’s always valuable to stop and notice and remember the lessons that you got this year that you could get in no other way.
In today’s episode, I share some of the most important lessons of my year, the things I am most grateful to have learned in the hopes that these thoughts will help you do your own reflection and see the incredible miracle of your own earthly learning experience.
Most of us have a lot of expectations when it comes to the holiday season. And when our expectations don’t match up with reality, it can create a lot of suffering for us, especially when it’s supposed to be “the most wonderful time of the year.”
But our expectations are just thoughts masquerading as “rules” for a perfect holiday season. And when we believe these thoughts, we’re likely to think something’s gone wrong with us or our lives when the only problem is with the expectation itself.
In today’s podcast episode, I want to offer you some alternative thoughts to some of the expectations that you have about the holidays that may be causing you unnecessary pain. I want to remind you that you can give up those expectations, change your thoughts, reduce your pain, and increase your joy any time you want.

Imagine yourself in the future you want. If future you could write a letter to yourself here in the present, what would you say? What would you thank yourself for? What decisions would you be so glad that you made now to create that future then? What would you be grateful to yourself for thinking and feeling and doing, to create that future moment then?
For most of us, our future feels uncertain and unpredictable but that’s only because we don’t realize what has created our present. It’s all being created by the choices you make in your mind and when you really understand that, any possibility becomes available!
On today’s podcast I’ll show you the secret to unlocking any future you want no matter where you are now.

You’ve probably heard me talk a lot about how coaching has given me the tools to change my life, but the decision to be coached didn’t just impact me—it changed my family, my clients, my community, and the world at large. And it doesn’t stop there. The changes I have made in my own thinking have generational impact as well.
This is true of all of our choices. Every choice we make has a ripple effect. And I think that it is freaking awesome that even though I signed up for coaching to change me, it changed much more than that.
On today’s podcast, I invited my two oldest children to talk about how their lives have been impacted by my decision to get coached, so that you can see that when you change your thoughts, you change the experience of your entire family, create totally new opportunities to love and know one another, and change the lives of future generations.

Our lives are finite and our time on earth is precious. We each want to get the most out of our life experience but sometimes it feels like the things that happen to us, the actions of other people, and our own brains are preventing us from doing that.
On today’s podcast, I’ll show you how the things that may appear to be keeping you from the life you want are the very things that will allow you to get the most out of your experience on earth. Everything that happens to you while you are here presents another opportunity for you to learn to choose what you will think and feel and do, independent of things outside of you.
The ability to choose perfectly is what makes God who he is, and he has given us the incredible opportunity to come here and practice choosing for ourselves. There is no one better than God at choosing. And as we get better at overcoming our brains and making choices in the challenging reality of this life, we become more like him.

My life was completely changed by life coaching. The things I have learned and the skills I gained are among the greatest blessings of my life because they made every other part of my life better.
It wasn’t that coaching gave me things I didn’t have. Coaching just showed me how to use what was already in me, the agency God had already endowed me with, to love my life and make the intentional choices I wanted to make to live a life I am proud of.
This is available to all of us. You have exactly what you need inside of you to create everything you want, and coaching can help do that in a way you haven’t been able to before.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing the biggest breakthroughs, transformations, and blessings that coaching has given me in the hopes that they will change how you see the possibilities that are available to you.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/134
We all want to do amazing things in our life, but for every amazing thing we create, there is a lot of discomfort that comes along with it. Success has companions. Results have “friends” that come with them that accompany their creation. You can’t get one without the other.
These result companions go by names like dread, inadequacy, anxiety, insecurity, terror, shame, and fear. They are the accompanying negative emotions that come when you leave your comfort zone and do new things. And anybody who has spent time accomplishing things in their life has spent plenty of time with these as well. They go hand in hand with whatever it is you want to create in your life.
If you aren’t creating the results you want in your life, what’s really in the way of that is your aversion to these “result companions.” In todays podcast episode, I’m sharing five things that have helped me manage my brain around these result companions in the hopes that it will help you get more of the things you want without letting these uninvited companions get in the way.
A lot of people come to self-improvement because they want more for themselves or they want more from themselves. And when those desires comes from a feeling of not being enough yet, then self-improvement can be a very painful, never-ending quest.
Ironically, when we go after “more” without first establishing our fundamental enoughness, it won’t create more, it only creates more not-enoughness.
So I want you to know two things:
These are not contradictory ideas. They are complimentary ones.
And these two ideas are most powerful and do the most good in our lives when they are used together. Separated, these ideas can either cause us to settle or to constantly strive. But together they are magic.
In today’s podcast episode I’ll show you how because both things are true—you are enough and there is more—your potential is unlimited and reaching that potential can be a joyful endeavor.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/132
Sometimes it can feel really hard to create something different in our lives. But it really isn’t that complicated because the only thing between you and the results you want is a thought that can be questioned.
If you aren’t getting the experiences and results you want in your life right now, you’re simply thinking a thought that is preventing you from having what you want.
What are your costliest thoughts? What are the thoughts that are costing you the results you want in your health, in your relationships, in your finances, or in your spirituality? What are your costliest thoughts in terms of your goals and dreams?
Today on the podcast, I’m sharing some of my costliest thoughts in the hopes that you’ll be able to see what your thoughts might be costing you. Then you can decide if you want to continue to pay the price of keeping those thoughts, or you can decide to exchange them so that you can get the things you really want in your life.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/131
Every one of us is the child of the greatest creators in the universe and, because of that, we have each inherited an incredible capacity to create new things, new experiences, and new realities that don’t currently exist.
The prerequisite to creating new things is believing new things. Nothing springs into being without first existing as a thought. But how do you believe in things you can’t see and that don’t exist yet in your life? It’s easy to believe in your past. It’s easy to believe in the things that you have evidence for. But how do you believe in things that just feel “made up?”
In this week’s podcast episode, I’m sharing an experience that made me realize just how much power we really have as creators when we’re willing to believe and go all in on believing in things that don’t yet exist. And I’m giving you three tips to help you get better at the skill of believing (even without evidence) so you can use your creative power to get the life you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/130
Thought is the most powerful creative force in the world. That’s why it’s so important to carefully consider the thoughts you are choosing to think. How often do you ask yourself what you want to think, rather than just observing your thoughts?
Any thought is possible and any thought is optional. You get to choose whatever thought you want, and nothing can ever take that choice away from you. And the better you get at choosing the thoughts you want to think, the more power you will have to create the life experience and the world you want to live in.
You can change your whole life with a few powerful thoughts and on today’s episode I’m sharing the five thoughts that I wish everybody had.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/129
Shame is the most universal human emotion. We all feel it. And sometimes we think it’s necessary to feel shame in order to change and to do things differently in our lives.
However, shame is the enemy of change. Shame keeps us stuck and repeating the same behaviors because shame causes us to hide. And hiding doesn’t help at all. To makes changes, we need to look closer, have more awareness, and curiously examine why we are doing what we’re doing.
In this week’s episode, I’ll show you that not only is shame unnecessary and useless, it’s also sabotaging you and keeping you from making the changes you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/128
You might have noticed that it’s a lot easier to set goals than to keep working towards goals. This isn’t because you are undisciplined or uncommitted or you lack “follow through.” It’s because your brain is programmed to get you to stop. All the time you are working on your goals, your brain has a biological reason to stop you.
The good news is that your brain can’t actually stop you from reaching your goals. It can try. And it will. But you always get to choose what you do. And when you are aware of your brains goals and tactics, it makes choosing to pursue your dreams so much easier!
In today’s episode, I am sharing five things that will help you NOT STOP on your way to your goals. There is so much that you want to create and do in your life, and I hope you never stop working for them. Don’t ever stop!
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/127
As humans, we have all been given a body so that we can have this earth life experience, and yet, most of us have lots of thoughts that make our body wrong.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Every thought you think is optional and the thoughts you think about your body are no exception.
You can love your body! Without changing it at all! You just need to question the thoughts that make your body wrong and then purposefully choose how you want to think about your body. In today’s episode I’m sharing ways to challenge your current thoughts about beauty and your critical thoughts about your body and giving you the tools to love your body exactly as it is.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/126
If we want to change any aspect of our life, it starts by changing our thoughts—which sounds simple, but can sometimes be easier said than done.
During a recent renovation of our home, I was reminded of some important things to keep in mind when you are dismantling, changing, and reconstructing your thoughts.
In this week’s episode I’m sharing this experience and five takeaways that will help you do the challenging, internal, life-changing work of changing your thoughts, so that you can use your brain in a way that builds your life exactly the way you want it.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/125
Loving other people is the most challenging work we do as humans because love does not come naturally or easily to our brain. Our brain is programmed to be defensive and judgmental and self-righteous—and so is everybody else’s.
This creates a world that is full of conflict and judgment and criticism, and so learning to choose love, despite your brain’s tendencies, has never been more important. Your brain isn’t going to naturally choose love, but you can direct it to do just that.
In today’s episode, I am sharing the reasons it’s so hard for us to love as humans and then giving you powerful tools to increase your own ability to love. Love is a choice and a skill and as you increase your own capacity to choose love, you increase the amount of love there is in the world. And that is something all of us would love more of.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/124
Grief is a normal, natural part of every human life. Whenever we experience any change or transition or loss, we can experience grief. However, even though grief is a regular part of the human experience, most of us are ill-informed about it and we often resist grief and the painful feelings we have when we are grieving.
In today’s episode, I’m talking with grief recovery specialist, Kelly Norton, about the purpose of grief and how to allow and process your grief so that it can add to your life, rather than keep you stuck.
It’s no surprise that our thoughts about grief shape our experience of grief and through this discussion I want to offer you a new way to think and feel and use your grief to enhance your human experience.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/123
Our children have as much agency as we do, which means that they have the unlimited power to decide their own life experiences. We are powerless in terms of their choices and that is by divine design. They get to choose and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
This only becomes a problem for us when we think that our children might choose wrong or that their choices might create suffering for them. But none of this is actually a problem and in today’s podcast episode I’ll show you why.
We don’t get any say in what choices our children make, but we get all the say in how we choose to think about those choices. The objective is not to change their choices, but to manage our minds about those choices. That is always in our power—and it is the key to having the loving relationships we want with our children.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/122
A lot of us have dreams for our lives—and as humans we each have unlimited, god-given capacity to make those things happen. There is no limit to what we can create or to what we can achieve or become. But to get any of that, we have to start.
In many ways, starting is the hardest part. Starting means doing things differently, changing from one state to another, taking risks, and spending energy, and our brain never wants to start doing any of that.
In today’s episode, I’m sharing three things to help you get started so that you can create all the experiences you want to have while you are here on earth.
Whatever it is you want in your life, start here.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/121
When I teach people that their thoughts are creating all the pain and all the results in their life, the question I get most often is, “But how do I change my thoughts?”
In order to change our thoughts, we have to be very purposeful. New thoughts don’t just happen to us. New beliefs aren’t ever going to descend upon us uninvited. In fact, because your brain is programmed for survival, most of the thoughts you want to think will be hard-won and only acquired through intention.
In today’s episode I am sharing the 3 simple yet essential steps that allow you to change and acquire any new thought in your life, so you can create any result you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/120
When we realize that our beliefs are creating the results in our lives, the next thing we want to know is how we change and build those beliefs. It’s a question that I get a lot as a coach because the better we get at believing, the more powerful creators we become.
Building our beliefs is like building anything else—it requires effort and work. I think there are a lot of parallels between the work in other areas of our lives and the belief work we do in our minds.
In today’s podcast, I’m sharing some of the powerful lessons that I have used to improve my work in the gym and applying them to help you in your work in your head to build your beliefs and increase your thought capacity.

Our brains spend a lot of time arguing with reality—telling us that things should be different than they are. But thinking things are supposed to be different leaves us stuck and disempowered.
When we can’t change the circumstances of life, we can still change the way we experience our life. And one of the best ways to do this is stop believing that things should be different when they simply aren’t.
In this episode, I’m sharing how accepting what is and choosing to say “Yes, and…” to everything in our lives allows us to move forward and create amazing things in our life.

A lot of us are committed to self improvement, but there is actually no such thing. You are already whole and so no matter what you do you can't improve yourself.
You can't get better, but you can change your life experience. You can create and design your life to be exactly the way you want it and the most powerful way to do that is through coaching.
In this special bonus episode, I'm sharing why I think coaching is the best decision you can make to get the life experience you want. And the most amazing thing is that when you change the way you live your life, the impact of that work goes far beyond you and blesses the whole world.

If you could wave a magic wand and change any aspect of your life, what would you change? While you might not have a magic wand, you have something just as powerful—your brain!
Whether you know it or not, you have created every result in your life—even the ones you wish were different—with your thoughts. This is the best news I can give you because it means you are more powerful that you realize and it means that if you don’t like what you’ve created, you always have the power change it.
It might not be magic, but it’s the closest thing to it!
On today’s podcast, I am asking five powerful questions. The answers to these questions will allow you to change any result in your life by changing your thoughts. Believe it or not, your brain is as good as any magic wand and these five questions will allow you to put it to good use.

This is your life. Make the most of it. Don’t just move. Decide the direction you want to go and start arriving at all the places in your life that you’ve always wanted to be. None of them are off-limits. There aren’t experiences in life that are reserved only for other people or things that you are disqualified from somehow. Anything you want is available to you. You just have to get your brain out of the way to get it. And I can help you do that.
We are powerful creators. There is nothing we want in our lives that we can’t create by changing the way we think. But often when we go to do new things, create a different reality, think new things, or build new capacities or abilities, our brain will tell us that we can’t because we’ve never done it before.
Your brain thinks you need evidence from the past in order to be able to create things in the future, but it’s not true. In this week’s episode, I’m sharing some powerful tools that will help you get around your brain’s objection so that you can create all the things you want, even if you’ve never done it before.

Your life is really just the physical manifestation of the invisible relationship between you and your brain.
What is that relationship like? Who gets the most say? Who is driving the conversation? Which of you is deciding what you do and how you feel most days? Who is in charge in your relationships? Which one of you is deciding how you spend your time or your money? Which one of you has the most say in what’s really important to you?
When you really understand the dynamic that exists between you and your brain, you will see how much control you really have over your life experience. In this episode, I’m sharing how to put yourself in charge more often and take more responsibility for your life instead of leaving it up to your brain.

In order to help others and do the work that we are uniquely capable of doing in this world, we each have to overcome the fears of our brain. Our brain cares about our survival, not our impact.
In this episode, I encourage you not to give up and not to give in to your fears. I’m sharing what’s really going on when you’re scared to show up in the world and how to overcome your brain’s fear and anxiety, so that you can do hard things and make a difference in your own life and in the world at large.
You matter. Your life matters. And it is worth confronting your fears in order to create the everlasting impact only you can make.

Even when we want to forgive, it can feel difficult to do. But the way we think about forgiveness can make it even more difficult because it can be hard to let go of negative feelings when we think someone else created them.
But no one can create any feeling for us. Our pain is always created by our own thoughts. And when we really understand this, we can see that the key to forgiving others is not changing others but changing the way we think about what they have done.
In today’s episode, I’m helping you think about forgiveness in a whole new way, so that you can see your power to forgive, why forgiveness is truly something we do for ourselves, and how no matter what someone else does you are always the solution to your pain.

The purpose of repentance is to change and create a reconciliation between us and God so that we can reconnect to who we really are and who we are trying to be. But sometimes the way we think about repentance doesn’t create connection and peace—it creates shame. Instead of reconciliation, this shame creates distance and separation which is the opposite of what we want.
In today’s episode, I’m offering a different way to think about our mistakes and our ability to change, and how repentance can be an amazing tool to help us do that. But the way we think about repentance matters and reframing the way you think about it will help you create the change and connection and reconciliation that you really want.

Especially when things are difficult it can feel really hard to change our thoughts. What do we do then? What do you do when your brain says everything is stupid?
In today’s episode I’m sharing some ideas to help you when you want to feel better, but it feels really hard to change your thoughts.

Over the last four years I have changed my life in lots of significant ways. And all of that change was created because I started thinking differently. Today I’m sharing ten life-changing things that I have learned that have made the biggest impact on my life and my relationships. They are the ten things I wish everybody knew.
No matter who you are or what your life looks like, I think if you really know and understand these ten things…it will change your life in really big ways. These ideas have far-reaching impact on how we see ourselves, how we see others, and how we experience our lives, and I want to make sure you know them too.

Sometimes when we hear that we are capable of anything and that it’s possible to create any change we want in our lives, we use that amazing possibility against ourselves. Instead of feeling excited and hopeful, we end up feeling stressed, paralyzed, and wrong. Our brain has all kinds of ways to keep us the same—and shaming ourselves for all the things we aren’t doing is one of the most effective.
You have a life of magnificent possibility. But don’t use that against yourself. In this week’s podcast I’m sharing four ways your brain might be using your limitless possibility to keep exactly as you are.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/109
Our brains are amazing prediction machines. They take the past and they use that evidence to inform us about our future, to tell us what we are capable of and what’s possible for us. But so much of what we want to create in our lives doesn’t exist in the past and so to get what we want we have to be willing and able to believe things we’ve never believed about ourselves.
In this episode, I share the tools that will help you suspend your disbelief and allow yourself to believe impossible things about yourself and your life. It’s easier than you think and you already have the natural ability to do it. You just have to give yourself the permission to practice and strengthen your skills to believe impossible things, so that you can create a future that is everything you want it to be.

For many years I wasn’t proud of the way I was showing up in my life. I could see that I had problems in every area, and I thought that I was the common denominator in all of it. I thought that I was the problem.
But the real common factor creating our lives is not us, it is our brain. And if we aren’t getting the results we want, we don’t have to change us, we just have to change what we are choosing to think.
You might think that you can’t change, but the good news is that you don’t have to. You just have to change your brain. And I can show you how!

We each have an infinite capacity to change and become, but our brain is not interested in that at all. In fact, our brain is super resistant to change. Your brain only wants to keep you alive in the easiest, more energy-efficient way possible. It is not interested in becoming anything. It just wants to stay the same.
As soon as we try to change and grow, in any area of our life, our brain offers all kinds of resistance to it. Today I’m sharing some of the brain’s primary tactics that it uses to keep us the same—so that you can be aware of your brain’s natural resistance, and not let that resistance keep you from creating all the things you really want.

Just like any other area of our life, when we are considering the decision to hire a coach our brains can get in the way. They can produce thoughts that create fear, doubt, skepticism, anxiety, and even embarrassment for us. And while these emotions do a great job of keeping us “safe,” they also keep us the same.
In this episode of the podcast, you’ll hear the thoughts and experiences of some of my amazing clients as they made the decision to invest in coaching and what that decision has created in their lives. You will hear what they were nervous about, what they have been surprised about, why they find group coaching uniquely helpful, and how coaching has been valuable to them in their lives. If you’ve ever thought about coaching, this episode will help answer your questions and concerns.

Most of us think that we’re supposed to be good parents. And we make that mean that we shouldn’t make any mistakes and, if we are doing our job right, our children shouldn’t either. We think it means that our children will be happy and successful. The trouble is that so much of what we call “success” in mothering and parenting are things that we have no control over.
In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing four things that you can let go of in order to love your parenting and increase your connection with your children. I’ll show you how in all your imperfection you are exactly what your children need and how all your ideas of perfect parenting are only getting in the way of being able to love your children as you are.

Life is full of contrast, conflict, and even catastrophe. We are never going to be able to control the world or the people in it, and that can feel scary until we understand that life is designed that way for our maximum growth.
In today’s episode I am talking about your emotional wellness, how you can take care of yourself and take charge of your emotional life so that you can feel how you want, even when don’t control anything outside of you. Here are three important principles that I think will make a huge difference in the amount of peace and emotional wellness you can create in your life.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/103
As humans, we have an instinctive tendency to want to avoid pain and discomfort. This inclination can sometimes lead us to live our lives avoiding failure and seeking the perfect circumstances—the perfect mate, the perfect job, the perfect house in the perfect place—in order to ensure our happiness.
But when we need life to go right or be easy in order to be happy, it makes it really easy to give up when things get hard—even when we’re doing the things we really want to do.
The key to creating the life you want (even when things are hard) is developing resilience. Resilience allows us to live our life and pursue our dreams without needing it to be comfortable all the time.
In this episode of the podcast, my son, Caleb, and I share how to become resilient and discuss how discovering our own power to choose our experience and feel our feelings makes us resilient in every circumstance we face.

Sometimes we think that extraordinary lives are few and far between, hard to get, and reserved for only a special few. But the truth is that each one of us has the capacity to live an extraordinary life by living with intention and purpose.
Everything that you do in your life is optional. You get to choose it all. Your right to choose your life is unalterable and absolute. None of it is determined and none of it is required and we are choosing our life, every moment of every day, whether we recognize it or not.
In this episode of the podcast, I share five things that will help you use your agency to get the most out of your earth life experience and do every extraordinary thing you want to do while you are here.

There is so much power in the compounding effect of taking one small action in our life and then repeating it over and over. This idea is especially powerful when it comes to our thoughts because changing our thoughts is just like changing anything else in our life. We do it by thinking one thought and then choosing to think it again and again—until it is the only thing our brain knows how to think.
Over the last five years, I have been able to change my life significantly and to do that the ONLY thing I changed was my brain. In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing some of the most awesome, life-changing thoughts I’ve chosen to believe, and I’ve invited my clients to share the thoughts that have changed their lives as well.
Whatever result you want to create in your life, you just need to think the thought that will create it. That is how you create an amazing life—choosing one awesome thought at time.

Deciding to hire a coach requires us to leave our comfort zone. And whenever we choose to do that, our brain is going to protest. Our brain wants us to stay the same and do things like we've always done them. But we were never meant to stay the same.
We each have an unlimited capacity to grow and change and to tap into our amazing potential to create and become, we're going to have to stand up to our brain.
In this episode, I'm sharing the thoughts that I think when I hire my coaches so that I can get everything I want out of my life, regardless of the fear and anxiety and doubt my brain produces.

One of the best skills we can acquire is learning how to like ourselves and our life because it affects every other area of our life.
With our brains running the show, we often don’t realize that liking ourselves is an option. We don’t understand that liking ourselves isn’t something that happens to us, but instead it’s a choice we make by the way we think about ourselves. Liking ourselves and our life is never a result of what we do or what our life looks like—it’s always a result of what we think.
In this episode I’ll show you how to put yourself in charge of liking you and your life, and everything you need to know to do it. Not liking yourself is the brain’s default setting, but liking yourself and your life (no matter what) is a feeling that is always available to you.

Our relationships are one of the most important aspects of our earth life experience. But for most of us, if we don’t currently have the relationships we want, it feels somewhat out of our control. But that is only because we don’t understand that our relationships are created entirely by the way we think.
I spent years struggling in my relationships. This all changed when I found coaching and learned three important things: our pain is always caused by our thinking and not other people’s behavior, it’s no one else’s job to make us happy, and love is not supposed to be easy. These ideas changed all my relationships and allowed me to love in ways I was never able to before.
In this episode, I interview my husband to get his perspective on how our relationship and our family life changed when I changed the way I thought about the people I love and the way I thought about myself. Coaching changed the way I experience my relationships and the amount of love I feel in my life—and it can do the same for you!

Your brain is the only problem you have.
When you came to earth and got put in a physical body, your brain became an automatic filter between you and your earth life experience. This means that everything outside of you has to go through this filter to be experienced by you. And everything inside of you has to overcome this filter to be manifest in the world.
This filter (your brain!) is what is creating all of your problems. The way your brain interprets everything that happens and the resistance it produces when we try to do things we really want to do, creates every problem you have.
But this also means that the solution to every problem in your life is simple. You don’t have a million problems that all require a different solution. You just have one problem and you just need one solution. And it’s already inside of you!
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/97
I used to think there were two kinds of people in the world—those that could have what they wanted and the rest of us who couldn’t.
But now I know that we’re all the same. And no matter who you are, we all have the same God-given power to create our life and choose our experiences. There isn’t anything that you want that you can’t have, there isn’t any possibility that exists out there that you can’t create, and anything you want is just as possible for you as anybody else.
In this episode, I’m sharing three things you need to do to become a person for whom anything is possible. Most of us seriously underestimate ourselves and limit what we think is possible for us. But these limitations are just made up by our brains and you are allowed to make up anything you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/96
For most of us, what really gets in the way of creating the life we want is pain. We have a natural, biologic aversion to pain that has been useful in keeping us alive. But the need to avoid pain and solve for pain and live a life free from pain can actually keep us from doing the things we want.
One of the most powerful things you can understand is that while your brain has a built-in instinct to avoid pain, your brain is actually the only thing in your life creating your pain.
In today’s episode, I’m looking at two of the questions I get as a coach—why we don’t take action and why it’s hard to love people—and answering them with this principle in mind. Being aware of your brain's tendency to want to avoid pain while actually being the source of your pain, can help you understand yourself better so that you can create the life you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/95
Every result in our life is created by our thoughts. This means that if we don’t love the results we are getting, the solution is to change our thoughts. But this is easier said than done because our thoughts “feel true” and our brains fight to be right about them.
It can help to recognize that while no thought is inherently good or bad, or right or wrong, every thought has a different capacity to create results in our life. We can’t create amazing results with low-capacity thoughts.
In this episode, I’m sharing the most common low-capacity thoughts that are keeping us from getting the life we want. No matter how true your thoughts feel, identifying a thought’s capacity to produce results can help you decide if you really want to keep thinking it.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/94
One of the things that all humans have in common is the feeling that we aren’t enough. This is because our brain is measuring who we are and what we do against a constantly shifting standard of acceptability and the conclusion is always the same: we aren’t enough.
A lot of us have tried to get around this feeling of not enoughness and inadequacy through achievement, self-improvement, and even righteousness. We are constantly trying to earn our enoughness by the things we do, but this doesn’t work and it leaves us exhausted, desperate, and even more aware of our shortcomings.
In this podcast episode, I share two important truths about your enoughness—there is no such thing as being enough and there is no way to be anything other than enough. Understanding this paradox will allow you to love you exactly as you are and let go of your brain’s insatiable quest to be “enough.”
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/93
When we make a decision, we are choosing one thing and eliminating the other options. This feels scary because we’re afraid that if we make the wrong decision, we might impact our happiness and then we’ll have regret.
But regret is not created by whether you made the right decision or the wrong decision. Regret is created by our thoughts. It is created by what we think after we make the decision. Whatever we feel about a decision— regret or peace, anxiety or confidence—it is never created by the decision itself.
On this episode I’ll teach you how to make powerful decisions without regret and show you how to replace fear with confidence no matter how big or small the decision is.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/92
Pain is a part of earth life. But when we forget this and we think our pain (either physical or emotional) is a problem, our brain pays more attention to it and this increases both the perception of our pain and the actual amount of our pain.
It turns out that the way we think about our pain is way more important than what we do about our pain. In this episode, I talk about the experience of both physical and emotional pain, how our thinking affects our relationship with pain, and how the way we interpret our pain can impact how much pain we have. Pain is part of being human, but you have way more control over the way you experience that pain than you may have thought.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/91
A lot of us who become aware of our thoughts and their power to create our results naturally want to get busy changing those thoughts. But it turns out to be harder than we expected, and we sometimes struggle to change our thoughts the way we want to.
In this episode I’m sharing the common stumbling blocks that get in the way of changing our thoughts, how to recognize what’s really in your way, and strategies for moving past them—so that you can change any thought you want.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/90
While we know that deliberately choosing our thoughts and managing our mind is possible and beneficial, it isn’t always easy and sometimes we just let our brain run on default.
In this episode, I’m sharing three mental habits that you can implement to create more control over your thoughts and thereby your entire life experience. These habits will give you more awareness over the things your brain thinks, more power to believe new things, and more authority to stop thinking the things that are getting in your way.
https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/89
Whatever years we each have in our human experience are ours to use as we wish. What are the experiences you want to have while you’re here? What do you want to be sure not to miss? What are the things that you’re done with? It is all up to you. You set the itinerary for your life. Everything you are going to do this year only exists in the hypothetical right now. But anything you want is available and the only thing in the way is your brain. Let’s change that! https://www.aprilpricecoaching.co
Every result in our life is created by our thoughts. I’m sharing the top five thoughts from 2020 that I think had the biggest impact on my year, allowed me to stretch my personal capacity and get outcomes I didn’t know were possible. No matter what ways you want to change in your life in the coming year, adopting these thoughts will help you do it. With the right thoughts, you have an unlimited capacity to become in any way you want. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformore
I spent a lot of time this year waiting for things to get better. But what if the challenges and disappointments of 2020 were “better?” At the end of a difficult year, I wanted to review some of the lessons that I found most valuable this year. Each day of our lives here is precious. And if the most important thing about being human is learning to choose, then the moments where choosing is the hardest will be best for us in the end. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformore
Sometimes there is a misunderstanding that thought work should be easy. But all of our beliefs are deeply ingrained thought patterns and it takes effort and discipline to work to change them. Just because it’s hard to believe new things doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong and it doesn’t mean you should stop working at it. Belief is a discipline. And since belief is the key to creating the life you want, I think it is a discipline worth developing. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeform
We often find ourselves making choices that go against what we really want and living out of integrity with our highest selves. We take the easy way. We give up when it’s hard. We let fear get in the way. And this isn’t because we’re weak. We’re just being deceived by our own brains. The only thing keeping you from living the life you want is the negative emotion your brain creates to stop you—but it doesn’t have to be that way. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformore
As you start thinking about and looking forward to next year and what you want to do and accomplish in the coming year, I want you to think about why you want to have goals. You don’t need to achieve and accomplish anything, and you don’t have to set goals or leave your comfort zone to be better or make your life better. But setting goals allows us to overcome our brains and become in ways we probably wouldn’t without them. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformore
Our brain is programmed to notice the lack in our lives and all the things that have gone wrong. Which is why we need to direct our brain on purpose to notice, instead, the utter abundance of our life and the gift it is. In this episode of the podcast, I’m sharing three things that I am particularly grateful for right now. I hope these thoughts will make you notice and appreciate the abundance of your own life and the matchless goodness of God. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformore
A single shift in thought can make a huge impact on your life. Some of the biggest shifts I have gotten through coaching have happened when I was watching other people be coached, when I saw my own thought patterns from a different perspective. Today I’m sharing some of the most powerful shifts I have received through group coaching—so that you can see the power of watching other people be coached and get your own significant shifts in your thinking. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformo
The application for my group coaching program, Made for More, opens today! In this bonus episode, I remind you that you don’t have to wait for anything to get the most out of your earth life experience because the only thing in the way is your own brain. Your brain is powerful, but you are more powerful. And if you harness your agency to manage your brain and choose what you want to believe about yourself, you can create impossible things in your life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/madeformor
You were made for more. You came to earth for a reason. You were made to learn and grow and progress and become more of who you were always meant to be. The better we manage our minds, the more becomes available to us. Your brain doesn’t want more, it just wants to survive. But those survival instincts are often keeping us from the life we could be living. You were made for more, and in this episode, I’ll tell you how to get it. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/80
Most of us think that real change is hard and that it takes a long time. But what if the opposite is true? Every action and behavior in your life is coming downstream of your thoughts. Which means that the only thing between you and any change you want are your current thoughts. And you have the power to change those. In this episode, I’m sharing how it’s possible for a handful of thoughts to make a life-changing, future-altering difference in your life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/79
Our brains hate to be wrong and they’re always on the lookout for potential. These instincts make it hard to love people who disagree with us or think differently than us. Love is one of the skills you came to earth to learn and this election season has given all of us an opportunity to practice it more. In this episode, I’ll show you that despite the protests of your brain, love is always an option—because love is a choice that you always have the power to make. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.
While your human brain is well-intentioned, it is also totally confused about your purpose for being on earth. You are here for creation and growth and contribution, and your brain’s natural instincts are getting the way of all that. What your brain thinks is “safe” is really just sabotage. This episode has actionable steps you can take to expose your own brain’s avoidance tactics, and get the most out of your awesome life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/77
Most of us think that negative emotion is something to be avoided and that if we are living our lives in the “right way,” our uncomfortable experiences will be limited. But for those of us who strive to follow Christ, learning to feel our feelings, may be an important part of becoming more like him. In our quest to become holier and acquire divine attributes, his perfect example demonstrates the need to feel our emotions rather than avoid them. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/76
For the first time on the podcast, I am answering listener questions. In this episode, I share how to think new thoughts, how to allow your children to have their feelings and opinions without needing to control them, how to look at your own thoughts without judgment, how to move on from betrayal, trauma, or divorce, and how to use thought work in everyday life to change the way you think and react in any situation. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/75
If you have been seeking self-improvement for any length of time, you might have noticed that as much as you change and try to be better, your brain still has negative thoughts about you.
Most of us want to know how to get this to stop. We’d like to reprogram our brains once and for all to think positive thoughts about us.
But this is impossible. Your negative thoughts are just your brain is doing its job. The problem is not that the brain is giving us negative thoughts. The problem is that we are letting ourselves be imprisoned by these thoughts, and allowing them to keep us from the life we really want to be living.
In this episode, I’m sharing ways to liberate yourself from your own thoughts. You can do anything, have anything, and be anything when you break free of the tyranny of your own brain.

It seems like we have an unusual amount of uncertainty in our lives right now. But really, we have never had any certainty. Uncertainty is the human condition. Anything can change at any moment. And the more we can accept uncertainty, the more acceptance we can feel. Instead of needing certainty in the world outside of us, we only need to tap into the certainty inside of us and believe in our capacity to handle anything that comes. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/73
One of the default thoughts our brain gives us is that God is disappointed in us and the way we are living our life. But, not only is this thought untrue, it is also keeping us more disconnected from God. The truth is that God cannot be disappointed in us and we are always learning and growing in the exact ways we need to. When we really understand God’s infinite approval of us, even with our faults, our relationship with ourselves and with God will change. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/7
We all have something that we really want to do in the world, but we’re too scared to do it. In this episode, I’m sharing some ideas to help you get into action and do the thing. Because whatever you do, the creation of it will bless the world, but the real value is what happens to you as you overcome your own brain and all its fears and insecurities. And doing the thing, despite your fears, is one of the best ways to get that. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/71
You are sharing this planet with other humans and some of those other humans won’t always like you. They will think all kinds of thoughts about you, and they are allowed to. But, the good news is that while every person you interact with has thoughts about you, your life experience is 100% created by the thoughts that you think and not the thoughts they think. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/70
As mothers, we often feel stretched and inadequate and the disruptions created by the pandemic have made things even harder. You are not failing. Your brain just thinks you are. The thoughts your brain offers about your shortcomings as a mother are not only painful, unproductive, and sabotaging the amazing work you are doing, but…they are also 100% optional. You can decide to think about yourself and your mothering in a completely different way. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/69
Because earth life contains a surprising amount of negative emotion (50%!), one of the best skills we can obtain is to get good at feeling bad. In this episode, I share how to process and feel your feelings, so that you have more control over your emotional life, so you can start doing the things you’ve been too scared to try. Getting good at feeling bad is the key to getting the life you really want. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/68
As humans and especially as Christians, we believe that we’re supposed to be happy—at least, most of the time. And when life is hard, this belief that we should be happy makes us think that something has gone wrong and that either God isn’t there or he doesn’t care about us. In reality, difficult circumstances are evidence both that God is there and that he loves you, because our circumstances provide the way to joy, which is the greatest gift God has for us. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.co
Our identity is solely created by the collection of thoughts we have about ourselves. We define ourselves by the things we already believe about ourselves. We are what we think we are. When we want to become another version of us, the only thing preventing that is the thoughts we currently believe about ourselves. The fastest way to become who you want to be is to decide to think different thoughts and to adopt them as quickly as possible. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/66
We have each left our heavenly home for an extended period of time to come to earth and have a human experience, which gives us the chance to learn and grow and serve others. In this episode, I share the things that I think are most important for each of to remember as we go on “this mission” and face the challenges of mortality. They are thoughts that have made the biggest difference in my human experience. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/65

The idea that it takes two people to create a great relationship keeps many of us from having the relationship we long for. Luckily, this just isn’t the case. Each one of us can have the exact relationship we want with anyone—and it’s completely up to us! Here is what I have learned about our personal power to create the relationships we’ve always wanted, and how taking 100% responsibility for the way I think changed my most important relationship. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/61
We all have confirmation bias that is created because our brain is programmed to gather evidence that our beliefs are correct. But this built-in bias often keeps us from seeing another point of view without getting defensive. Learn how to surrender our defensiveness and use this emotion as a signal to examine our own thoughts, that might be “unkind and invisible,” and see it as opportunity to learn and grow and increase our ability to love. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/60
We all want to change things in our life, but most of us get stuck in the space between our intentions and implementation. Closing this gap is the secret to changing any aspect of our lives. Here are five tools to help you move from just thinking about change to actually creating change in your life. None of these tools involve taking doing more, because it turns out that implementing change in our lives is completely dependent on what happens inside our minds.
Many people come to self-improvement from a place of self-rejection and disgust and set off to improve from a place of guilt and shame. This is a losing proposition. Not only are guilt and shame completely unnecessary to change and grow, in most cases they are the very things preventing real transformation. In this episode, I’ll show you how to give up guilt and shame so that you can change and become in all the ways you want to.
We don’t need any one to change in order to love them—because if we want to feel love, that is always our responsibility. And it requires us to choose to love, allow, and tolerate others, regardless of their choices. In this episode, I offer some thoughts to help us love people we disagree with, tolerate the intolerant, and allow for wrongness in the world without becoming wrong ourselves. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/57
While our bodies go through periods of illness or injury, there is so much we can do to improve and take care of our physical health. The same is true for our mental and emotional health. My clients know that the only difference between the life they have and the life they want is the thoughts they choose to think. And so they go to work every day to think powerful thoughts and that gives them incredible results. In this episode, I share some of the beliefs that have made the biggest difference for my most successful clients and, if you choose to believe the same things, it will make a huge difference for you too. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/55
Thought is the mechanism of creation. Thoughts have the power to become things. It’s important to understand that we create all our results by the thoughts we choose to think. This awareness allows us to see our results differently and take responsibility for the things we have created—inadvertently or purposely— in our life. Learn how thoughts become things, how to choose your thoughts based on the results you want, and harness your power to create anything.
Of all the challenges our human brain presents us, loving ourselves might be the hardest. Our brain is convinced that we need to be better (in every way) before we can love ourselves. But this isn’t true. In this episode I’ll tell you exactly how to develop the beliefs and choose the thoughts that will allow you to love yourself for real. It all starts by recognizing that loving ourselves is a choice that happens in our mind. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/53
Learning to take consistent action is how we create anything in our lives. This episode is about how to be consistent and show up for yourself, and I share four tools to help: act in the present, examine your thoughts, make a decision, and create a small container. These tools will allow you to create the life you want through powerful, consistent action. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/52
Christ's message is one of love and hope. But, as Christians, we often use his message and his work against ourselves—to beat ourselves up, to despise ourselves for faults and weaknesses, to judge ourselves and others, and to inhibit our growth and learning. This new awareness will allow you to question the unhelpful interpretations your brain might offering you and give you a new way to think about yourself, your earth life experience, and your discipleship. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/51
Life offers each of us a chance to grow, develop, innovate, evolve, and create. But in order to do these things we have to be willing to step outside our comfort zone and confront the protests of our own brains. The lessons I have learned in creating 50 podcasts can help you as you go to do hard or new things in your own life—even things outside your current capacity—and allow you to go after all your goals and dreams in a big way. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/50
My life has changed significantly over the last couple of years. But, fundamentally, the only difference between me today and me then is the thoughts that I think. In this episode, I want to share some of the lies I used to tell myself in the hopes that you will be able to recognize similar lies that your brain might be telling you. Our brains never stop selling us on negative thoughts about ourselves, but we get decide to whether or not we believe them. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/49
As humans, we often think that there is a "right way" to feel—for both ourselves and for others. But judging ourselves and others is a painful way to live. It is heavy. And it adds to your stress and discomfort. But you can set it all of it down. In this podcast, I offer that the alternative to judgment is meekness. When we view ourselves, and others, and God from a place of meekness we can drop our need to control everything around us and access peace. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/48
"Waiting for things to get better" sounds hopeful, but it makes our current life unacceptable and a little unbearable. It makes us feel like we have to wait for a different version of our life to show up before we can be happy. The awesome news is that you don't need to wait for things to change in order to love the life you are living. In this episode I'll show you that you don't have to wait for a place without pain or hardship to also feel joy. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/47
This episode is a little pep talk for your brain! I want you to know that relief is available to each of us whenever we need it. It comes by identifying the true cause of our suffering, embracing the uncertainty of our lives by believing in what is certain, and letting it all be exactly as it is. No matter the circumstances or the uncertainty and risk in our life, our reaction is always ours to control and that means that relief is always available to us. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/46
In this special bonus episode of the podcast, I am offering some thoughts to help ease your worry and fear, and empower you to decide how you want to think about what is happening in the world right now. No matter what happens outside of you, your agency to create your experience is always there inside of you. And I want you to know that, even now, peace and confidence and joy are 100% available to you. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Before we can adopt a new belief, we have to be willing to be wrong about the old one. This may seem obvious, but it is harder than it sounds because our brain loves to be right. In this episode of the podcast, I’ll show you how being willing to be wrong is essential for growth, why our brain wants to hold so tightly to old beliefs, and help you be willing to be wrong more often, so that you can get the life you want. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/45
Over the last couple of years I have invested thousands of dollars in coaching and, if given the choice, it is an investment I would make again and again. This is because of the unlimited value that coaching has provided in my life. In this episode of the podcast I share the ten most valuable things I have learned and discovered through coaching and explain why I think coaching can be so valuable to you. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/44
When we believe we shouldn’t feel negative emotion, we add more negative feelings to our lives, compounding our misery and increasing our pain. The answer to this is to get good at feeling our negative emotion, instead of trying to resist it. The more we can allow our negative emotion, the more we can avoid compounding our misery. Learn how to avoid compound misery to alleviate your suffering. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/43
It’s easy to use our flaws and mistakes as a way to punish ourselves into growth and change. We have lists of all the things we want to remove or eliminate in ourselves—thinking if we cut all these parts out of us, we can change into a better version of us. But it doesn’t work. Self-destruction does not create. Instead of wanting to become less, the key is to focus on becoming more of who and what we already are. This is change through love and abundance. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Love isn’t magic or destiny. Love doesn’t come and go by itself. Love isn’t a result of the actions of another. It doesn’t move from one person to another. Love can’t even be shared. Love isn’t a result of anything outside of us—it is always a result of a thought inside of us. Learn how to identify the thoughts keeping you from feeling love. You are responsible for how much love you feel, which gives you access to the unlimited supply of love any time you want. https://www.aprilpriceco
We know that we create our feelings with our thoughts, but we notice that others are still under the impression that their feelings are created by the things outside of them. The good news is that we don’t have to fix this in order to feel okay about them or their feelings! Learn how to let other people feel what they want, how to give up people pleasing, and how to feel whatever you want about yourself and the people in your life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/40
Whenever we go after a goal and spend energy growing and evolving, our brain wants us to stop. So it offers us limiting thoughts about our progress, our identity, our capacity, our limitations, and our decisions—and these thoughts keep us from achieving our goals. In this episode, Susan Dangerfield talks about common thoughts that keep us stuck and how to get around our brain’s objections so that we can achieve exactly what we want. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/39 https://www.sdangerfit.co
In this very special episode of the podcast I interview author, Rachel Stewart, about how to turn our beliefs into reality by taking action, even in the face of self-doubt or fear. I talk to Rachel about how we don't have to feel "qualified" or ready to start taking action, how to recognize that fear is both a liar and a necessary companion to any achievement, and why it's always worth doing hard things to get what we want. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/38 http://unqualifiedtools.com
In order to accomplish what we want in our lives, we have to believe we can. All our results start with our beliefs. But our brains are programmed to notice the negative and use that information to define our present and create our future. To get different results, we need to interrupt our brain's "prediction machinery" and think new thoughts. So how do we do this? Here are three keys to believing new things about yourself, your abilities, and your life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/3
We sometimes forget that we are always making a choice. These choices add up to create the life we have, even if we don't realize it. I invite you to honestly examine the idea that we only do what we want to do. This perspective shows us that there aren't actually any "have to's" in our life, and that everything we do is our choice—allowing us to give up blame and resentment, own our choices and our outcomes, reach our goals, and love the life we are living. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/36
We all have goals and things we want to accomplish in our lives. But sometimes the way we've been taught to think about goals is actually getting in our way, making accomplishing and achieving our goals harder. I invite you to rethink how you set goals by understanding we don't become better when we achieve goals, achieving our goals won't make us happy, our goals should be hard, and when it comes to goals, what we think is more important than what we do. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/35
This year I have received so many gifts from my coaches. I picked just five that made the biggest impact on my life this year to share with you. We spend most of our lives just thinking on default. We have lots of old, unexamined thought habits. A thought habit is just a thought we have thought over and over again creating a well-rehearsed neural pathway. But the brain has the power to create new neural pathways any time. This neuroplasticity allows you to purposefully create productive and positive thought habits, and decide how you want to think about your life…and that, my friends, is 100% awesome! https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/3
When we evaluate our progress in life, we tend to judge our accomplishments with a finite mindset. But this can be frustrating when we are working in areas of infinite growth, like fitness, personal development, relationships, or spirituality—where there is no finish line. It's powerful to view your life and your progress with an infinite mindset, and shifting your thoughts in this way can keep you invested, motivated, and committed to your personal goals. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/32
By and large, most of us are not very good at feeling our feelings. We don't have a lot of practice or skill at feeling, allowing and processing our emotions. Instead, we spend our time and energy avoiding, resisting or reacting to our emotions. In this episode, I'll show you how to process any emotion and show you the power that allowing your emotions will give you in your life. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/31
Because we have human brains, we aren't programmed to notice the magic, miracles, and awesomeness of our lives. But that does not mean they don't exist! To find more joy and awe, we have to purposefully redirect our brains to notice all the gifts that are there, that go mostly unnoticed. Here are three tools that you can use to help you recognize the truth about your awesome life and recalibrate your brain to "see things as they really are." https://www.aprilpricecoaching/30
In life, we interact with people that we think are "difficult." In reality, there are no difficult people. There are just people. Who do stuff. And then we have lots of thoughts about the things they do, and then we make that mean that they are "difficult." One of the most powerful things you can learn is that the only thing that makes other people difficult is our interpretation of them—and knowing this is the solution to every difficult relationship we have. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/29
Just like any other characteristic we have, our brain has an opinion about our bodies. And because our brain is programmed to find problems, its opinion about our body is always focused on what is wrong or undesirable about our physical appearance. In this episode, I'll show you that how you think about your body is a choice and I'll teach you how to retrain your brain to see and think about your awesome human body exactly the way you want to. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/28
Most of us think we are supposed to feel good about ourselves. And we think there’s something wrong with us when we don’t. The reality is that our human brains make it so we don’t feel good about ourselves. That's what it means to be human. And we don’t have to fix that. The awesome news is that you can consciously and purposefully redirect your mind to allow you to approve of yourself anyway...even when your lower brain insists that you have problems. https://www.aprilpricecoaching.c
Our brains are naturally programmed to avoid discomfort. This has kept us alive and allowed us to make huge advances throughout history. But when it comes to personal development, being willing to experience discomfort can allow us to grow, leave and our comfort zone, do things we've never done, and reach impossible goals. Learn about optional discomfort—and why you might want to do hard things to get different results and discover completely new possibilities. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/2
We often feel like we are just at the effect of our life. But the truth is that how we feel and the life experience we are having is entirely up to us. The key to taking control of your life experience and creating what you want is to recognize where your control really is. It is never outside of you. You have the power to create the life you want by focusing your attention inside of you—on the thoughts you choose to think. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/25
We all have a plan for our life. We all have an idea of the way it's supposed to go. And then nothing goes according to plan. When we think "This isn't the way it's supposed to be," we resist reality and this adds anger, frustration, and resentment to our challenges. We end up doubling our pain. In this episode I share three thoughts to help you escape the resentment and anger you feel when things go wrong, so you can learn and grow and move on in your life. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/24
Other people get to think and feel and act like they want. They have agency to choose how they are going to live their life. The trouble is that we think what other people do or say then causes us suffering. The reality is that no one can make you feel anything. And no matter what other people choose to do or say, you always get to decide how you want to think about it. You always have the power to create your own life experience. Additional show notes: www.aprilpricecoaching.com/23
When the people in our lives are suffering, we want to fix things. We want to control their experiences, change their circumstances, and help them find different thoughts and feelings so they can feel better. But while this may feel compassionate, it isn't. And it doesn't allow us to access the power of divine love. Learn new ways to think about the suffering of others, and find compassion and peace and love without needing to change other people's models. www.aprilpricecoaching.com/22
Our brains notice problems in order to ensure our survival. So they are always on the lookout for all the ways we don't have enough—sometimes all we can see is our lack and deficiency. It turns out that lack and deficiency in any area of our lives is only a thought. We just happen to think these thoughts are true! The truth is our lives are full of abundance and it can change everything when we finally see that what we are and what we have is "enough and to spare." www.aprilpricecoaching.com
When we learn that our thoughts are creating our feelings and giving us all the results in our lives, we sometimes use this new awareness against ourselves. In this episode, I'll break down the 6 things that you might not know about thought work so that you can get the most benefit from doing this incredible work. For more information go to: www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Every one of us has limiting beliefs—these are thoughts that hold us back from living the life we want to live. However, because we see our limiting beliefs as "facts," in most cases we don't really know that they are holding us back or stopping us from proceeding. When we learn to question these long-held beliefs it allows us to take different action and get completely different results in our life. www.aprilpricecoaching.com
We often don't like the discomfort we feel in the present when it's time to work towards our goals or do hard things in order to change and evolve. But this is the key to creating the future we want. It turns out that the better choices we make in the present, the more appreciation we can have for our past self and the more gifts we give our future self. This is how we love ourselves in all the time zones, and it is a powerful way to create an awesome life!
Our brains are programmed to notice problems, but because we're inside our own heads, these thoughts feel like the truth. This is where a great coach can make all the difference. We all need someone who can see how we are hurting ourselves with our thoughts and offer an us alternative way to think. Join me for this incredible conversation with Master Coach, Jody Moore, to get her perspective on why coaching can be so valuable for each one of us. www.aprilpricecoaching.com www.jodymoore.com
Feeling unworthy or inadequate is the result of living in a human body that is powered a human brain, which is naturally programmed to notice what’s wrong with you. To override this tendency and love ourselves, we have to discipline our thoughts and decide purposefully how we want to think about ourselves. In this episode I'll show you the way to do that and help you see that you are amazing and there's nothing you can do about it...and that is 100% awesome! www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Do you have things you want to accomplish in your life, but despite your good intentions, day after day, year after year, you remain unchanged, making no real progress towards your goals? This is not because you are undisciplined or weak. It's because we think the way to accomplish things is to focus on what we are DOING. But to really get the traction we need, we have to focus on what we are THINKING instead. Free download of The Model: https://www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/15

This gives us the agency and freedom to choose how we will see our lives and the things that happen to us. Whether we know it or not, we are the ones that give meaning to every circumstance in our life. When you truly understand this, it will give you the power to see your life in a completely new way. www.aprilpricecoaching.com

What if you never had to be worried, confused or overwhelmed again? In episode 11, we'll see how our brain uses these emotions as a way to keep us from taking action. We're doing a deep dive on each of these emotions to understand the thoughts that create them and the questions we can ask to give them up for good. Because not only are worry, confusion and overwhelm unnecessary, they are also completely optional...and that, my friends, is 100% awesome! www.aprilpricecoaching.com
In Episode 10, we explore self-doubt in depth and see how it is keeping us stuck and preventing us from taking action in our lives. We'll also learn what we can do to manage our thoughts and replace doubt with confidence and determination. Making changes and achieving goals requires us to give up indulgent emotions like self-doubt, and instead, purposefully choose thoughts that move us into action. Once we do, anything is possible...and that my friends is 100% awesome! www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Every one of us wants to feel better. In order to feel better more of the time, we try to exercise control over the world around us. In Episode 9, we talk about the things you can control and how to release everything else by understanding what's God's business, what's other people's business, and what's your business. Truly understanding this is way to freedom and peace...and that my friends is 100% awesome! www.aprilpricecoaching.com
In Episode 8, we'll explore a new way to find happiness in our relationships by letting go of our expectations of others, being responsible for our own feelings and needs, and recognizing that the only job of the other person is to be there for us to love. And that my friends is 100% awesome! www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Real change is possible in any area of your life, and in this episode we're talking about exactly how to make that happen. When you understand that you don’t have to change to be acceptable, when you know that your thoughts are the key to any change you want, and when you learn to talk to yourself more than you listen to yourself, then true change is possible. In fact, it's not only possible, but inevitable...and that my friends is 100% awesome!
We're talking about the thoughts we've held onto for far too long. It's time to clean out your thought closet and get rid of the thoughts that are causing pain, keeping you stuck, or aren't in alignment with who you want to be or the goals you have. Consider adopting three powerful thoughts and using them to build a capsule collection of deliberate thoughts that can create the life you really want. Free download of 20 other thoughts that changed everything for me: www.aprilpricecoaching.com/blog/
In Episode 5 of the podcast we're talking about how judgment always feels protective and useful to our brain, but how it is neither. We cover the judgments we have about others, their judgments of us, and our judgment of ourselves. The way to access peace and love and personal improvement is to drop our judgments--to do this we have to recognize that we truly don’t know what other people should do, that it’s 100% okay for them to be wrong about us, and that we are 100% awesome exactly as we are.
In the fourth episode of the podcast we talk about how to create our feelings on purpose in order to access the life we really want. When you let the people in your life have responsibility for their own feelings without needing to change them, when you recognize that you can feel any feeling without having to wait for results, and when you know that love is the best fuel for any action in your life, then you have the power to create the exact life you want. And that my friends is 100% awesome.
In Episode 3 of the podcast we're talking about feelings. We'll learn that negative emotion is an awesome part of the 50/50 human experience and feeling all our emotions, rather than resisting, reacting or avoiding our emotions, takes practice and skill. We can then use these skills to create the life we want. The key to achieving whatever we want in our lives is simply to be willing to embrace any negative emotion. How awesome is that? You can find more information at www.aprilpricecoaching.com
In Episode 2 of the 100% Awesome Podcast, we're talking about how every feeling we have is created by our thoughts and not by the circumstances or events in our lives. Behind every emotion we experience--positive or negative--there is a sentence in our head creating that feeling. This is very good news because if we don't like how we're feeling, we always have the option to choose a different thought and change how we feel! Find more information at www.aprilpricecoaching.com
Our brains are always noticing the problems and negative aspects of our lives because this is its job. Once we become aware of this and the important connection between our thoughts and our feelings, we can then re-rank our brain and direct our thoughts in the way we want.
