Life's A Peach: Recent Episodes

By U For U

By U For U was founded in January 2019 by 16-year-old artivist Kailen Kim. She had joined a number of organizations, but then she started realizing that inclusivity was, in many situations, not an important part of the conversation in those so-called "justice" and "equality" groups. She took it into her hands to start an online network for people to easily share and access their stories, using their own voices. Own words. Own visuals. Own set of shoes they have walked in. Changing the world : one story at a time!

*Disclaimer: college is not for everyone! Everyone has their own path of life. Everyone comes from a different background.

In episode two, Kailen talks about ‘self,’ which is February’s monthly theme. She briefly touches upon psychology and sociology through the self-labeling theory. Along with the topics of mental health/issues and trying to find yourself through identities, Kailen mentions stereotypes such as the model minority myth (which is, in fact, a myth that perpetuates anti-Black racism) and how they impact how we view ourselves. “The self is impacted by others and others are impacted by self.” How do you express yourself? In this episode, Kailen dives into By U For U's monthly theme for January 2020: "intentional intuition." She breaks the two words and explains what it means to her, relating it to a human being's physical, mental, emotional, spiritual state of mind with an inspiration from UMI. So what does using your intentional intuition look like? What does it make you feel? How will you use your intentional intuition? Feel free to submit any artwork, relating to this month's theme and share your story because everyone has one.
