This episode marks the end of an era. Steven Hansen, host of Podtoid for the past year or so, is leaving Destructoid. Podtoid will go into remission for a bit, until it springs up again when you least expect it.

On this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, Darren Nakamura, and Ray Porreca talk about prison, weddings, Cuphead, Golf Story, horror movies, and what's next on the agenda.

Of course, the episode rounds out with some listener questions, the last (unfair) round of SATPOTPAQ, and the last (very fair) round of the Hot Dish. It's about communism!

Bungie's loved/hated shared world shooter series just saw its second full release with Destiny 2. How'd it turn out?

Jordan Devore, Darren Nakamura, and Ray Porreca gathered around the broken fountain on The Farm to talk about luminous engrams, Dominus Ghauls, and Frumious Blue. Also, how Hunters are the best class, and Nightstalker is the best subclass.

Later on answered a few listener questions, then capped off the episode with a Hot Dish revolving around the glorious idea of putting Asher Mir into a rocket ship and shooting him to some far off land. Seriously, the dude sucks.

PAX West 2017 just finished, and we've got some tales to tell of our time up there. Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talk a little bit about the best and worst of PAX West, including hanging out with Taco Bell PR and staying in a fake Airbnb.

Game highlights include Final Fantasy XV, Celeste, Kentucky Route Zero, and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine. Non-game highlights include a ringing endorsement for beef jerky and a discussion on road trips.

We bring back a segment of Metacritic Morons for Destiny 2's launch, answer some listener questions, and of course, round out the episode with a SATPOTPAQ and a PAX-themed Hot Dish. Give it a listen!

Look, it's late, I still need to pack for PAX, and thus, I have no idea what's in this episode of Podtoid. The title was taken from the first soundbite I randomly checked. It's a grab bag! I'll hear it in full for the first time on my plane flight to Seattle. Hopefully it's good!

But seriously I think Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca briefly talked about Mario + Rabbids. Then they probably did listener questions and a SATPOTPAQ.

Next episode we'll actually have video game stuff to talk about from PAX. It'll be good. But maybe this one is good too!

It's been a few weeks, so we're rolling four deep. You got your Steven Hansen, your Brett Makedonski, your Darren Nakamura, AND your Ray Porreca. It's 33% more Podtoid Boy for your ears.

The crew mostly talked about recent travels to bachelor parties and Mexico. Darren hasn't been anywhere interesting lately, but he is going to the path of totality for the solar eclipse on Monday. Maybe this whole post should be about how the solar eclipse is when the moon is between the sun and the earth. Perhaps Steven would learn something.

Otherwise, we talked about Sonic Mania and Tacoma, then rounded out the episode with the ol' listener questions, SATPOTPAQ, and a U.S. state-themed Hot Dish.

Another long summer week without much happening, another episode where the Podtoid crew kind of just shoots the breeze for 45 minutes before finally talking about a video game. Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca hit a potpourri of topics including ranking frozen pizza brands, how to make money on YouTube, The Mooch (who is already outdated since this recording), Early 1900s women's fashion, how to remove a human head, why anabolic steroids are good actually, and whether Floyd Mayweather can read and write.

Eventually, the topic rolls around to the upcoming sequel Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, which Steven previewed a while back but only now can talk about.

Of course, the episode rounds out with listener questions (including a very good question about artificial meat asked by a presumably handsome individual) and SATPOTPAQ. Listen up!

Oh boy, it's a slow week for video games, which means it's a great week for just hanging out and talking about whatever comes to mind. These include topics such as Geoff Keighley being video games' press secretary and how being Twitter verified allows freedom to be an asshole.

There was some video game talk, like our new YouTube Channel Dtoid Fights, which currently has streams of the D-Team running around in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Look for more there.

There was also some Destiny 2 beta talk, but Darren's unscrupulous captors only allowed him about a minute to talk about that.

After that were some listener questions about the upcoming PAX West thing, the weekly SATPOTPAQ, and a Podtoid Hot Dish focused on the moon.

We're back from break! Or some of us are. In this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca reminisce on the past month or so since they last got together and talked like good podcast boys.

Some of the games they talked about were PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Micro Machines, Get Even, and of course, Rocket League. Get Steven and Brett together and they're going to talk about Rocket League. It's like a running joke that isn't funny.

Other topics include Brett's new PC, how quickly Steven poops, and how a blast from a powerful jet engine could kill you. Listen up!

On this episode of Podtoid, the crew gets a new nickname in "The Melty Boys," but mostly Steven Hansen and Brett Makedonski talk about their escapades at E3 2017. Darren Nakamura joins to inject how things looked from the outside, and also to bring his special brand of handsomeness and class.

Games mentioned are Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Metal Gear Survive, Anthem, and Destiny 2.

The episode caps off with some listener question quick hits, a productive round of SATPOTPAQ, and a Hot Dish featuring words with three E's in them.

View Details

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca gear up for E3 next week. They give their predictions and hopes, and decide what the big three platform holders will have to do in order to "win" E3.

Outside of that, there's also some discussion on bad science, conspiracy theories, Donkey Kong fanfic, and some probably sacrilegious heresy. Of course, there are some listener questions thrown in there, and the episode caps off with SATPOTPAQ. Listen before E3!

On this episode of Podtoid, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Ray Porreca talk about eating ass. Lots and lots of eating ass. Also, Field of Dreams/ejaculation pun. (More like Field of Creams, am I right?)

Also, the gang touches on The Sexy Brutale, the correct pronunciation of "brutale," Persona 5, the Wii U's best games, and sauerkraut. Of course, the episode is capped off with the Internet's premier volcano trivia game, SATPOTPAQ.

View Details

In this special episode, Jordan Devore, Steven Hansen, and Brett Makedonski talk about the recently released mascot platformer Yooka-Laylee. How does it hold up to the Banjo-Kazooies and the Super Mario 64s? Did the crew love it, or were they more looka-warmie on it? Could we possibly do an hour-long podcast where it's all mascot gibberish? (The answer is yes, but you might not want to listen to it.)

This is Podtoid number 365, which means you could listen to one episode of the show for every day of the year, not counting leap years. But there won't be another leap year until 2020, so that's not a worry.

In this episode, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura talked about Snake Pass, Yooka-Laylee, volcanoes, car chases, and gangbangs. We rounded out the episode with an extended listener questions segment, along with a SATPOTPAQ about brass knuckles and giant signs, then a Hot Dish on terrible Metacritic user reviews.

Additional topics include corn dogs, movies, and the horror of finding a scorpion inside your bathrobe. Of course, we end the episode with SATPOTPAQ and a Zelda-focused Hot Dish.

In this rousing episode of Podtoid, Brett and Steven recount their time at GDC, while newcomer Ray Porreca talks about what he saw at PAX East. The team also talks about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, discusses Nier Automata, and fumbles through an eighth grade math problem. Also they make a plan to sabotage Darren even though he's the one who edits the show and uploads it and writes the descriptions? Look, it wasn't very well thought out. The episode concludes with a SATPOTPAQ in which somebody almost scores a point.

On an almighty pre-E3 Podtoid speculator, Jonathan Holmes starts to ponder the damaging effect that the podcast has had on his life, while Jim Sterling plans to make him have sex with everything in the ocean. Meanwhile, Hamza Aziz is promised a tube of Pringles a night and there's a brand new segment in which true legal dilemmas are solved once and for all.

Meanwhile, we chat about what we hope to see at E3, we discuss some rubbish about Japanese games, we chat about Platinum Games and we also get hyped for Among the Sleep. All this ... and Fatty Patty ... on your favorite podcast of all time!

On this week's edition of Podtoid, Hamza gets back from Pre-E3 with promises of previews and talk of an MMO joining forces with a SyFy TV show. Yeah, that sounds like the next big thing, right? Also, Diablo III is discussed some more, and we make fun of Kinect again while lamenting Sony's tendency to release things and wander off elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Holmes' house gets redesigned and something something E3 something. Man, we actually talked about games a lot this week.

On an incredibly fecal edition of Podtoid, the gang discusses an awesome Minecraft tribute to Jonathan Holmes' ringpiece, the responsibilities of controlling when another man poops, and a music video in which Jim Sterling melts through a window covered in backdoor clay. What a smelly episode!

Elsewhere, Mary J. Blige makes the ultimate sacrifice, there are three tender love holes, Paranormal Activity comes to Boston. On the game front, we discuss Konami's blacklisting of certain editors, Diablo III, Capcom's latest DLC shenanigans, and probably some other stuff.

What a show!

On this week's edition of Podtoid, the trio discuss holiday activities inspired by Hellraiser, Willem Dafoe's cure for cancer, and the truly annoying thing about gay bestiality websites. If that doesn't sound like the best videogame-themed podcast ever, then you're probably a nice person with a kind heart.

Plenty of game discussion is to be had, however. We talk about the fiscal results for Capcom and Electronic Arts, the joys of Dead Space, and the shared hype for an upcoming Adventure Time title. Also, which Pokemon caused Hamza to have boyhood fantasies? Listen and find out!

For one night only (or every night if you just listen to this every time you go to sleep), Podtoid reunites Anthony Burch, Aaron Linde, Topher Cantler, Brad Nicholson, Jim Sterling, and SHUT UP SAMIT! The Podtoid cast of generations past are back for a special Retro Gaiden edition of Podtoid. How exciting!

On the show, we talk about videogames, which is such a novelty these days. Witcher 2, Minecraft, Assassin's Creed, and Battlefield 3 are put through their paces, because we only talk about the most modern and current titles on this show. Also, the crew relives its favorite Podtoid moments, and makes so much fun of Samit. So much fun.

On the 200TH EPISODE SPECTACULAR, Jonathan Holmes reveals that the world thinks he's a perpetually horny gay man, Hamza Aziz starts to understand the horror he's a part of, and Jim Sterling reveals how he got married. Also, the trio form a rap group and plan a music video involving a heck of a lot of worms, worms, WORMS.

That's not all, however. Max Scoville and Tara Long make cameo appearances, Willem Dafoe's latest pitch gives us a tasty adventure, and WORMS! WORMS! On the games front, we chat about PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, God of War: Ascension, and something else. OH GOD THE WORMS!

As if that wasn't enough, we have a special announcement. This is just one part of the Podtoid 200 celebrations. Stay tuned for details about a one-off Podtoid reuinion starring the hosts of the last generation! All this and worms, only on Podtoid!

On this week's edition of Podtoid, the gang discusses a multi-goose naked fantasy, plans for the next generation of American Gladiators, and the potential for an interactive fantasy in which you're a bearded old man taking charge of a frightened little girl. It's not a very pleasant episode, really.

We also discuss Sony's potential all-stars battle royale, make fun of Pikmin 2 on the Wii, and ponder whether this is the worst period in gaming's relatively short history. All that and more on Podtoid!

Oh, and we really don't know what's up with Jonathan's bloody microphone levels.

On this week's edition of Podtoid, we graciously welcome Destructoid communications director Hamza "CTZ" Aziz, who will be joining us for at least a few weeks or your money back! This week, we discuss some E3 plans (especially the room arrangements), we get baked into a pizza, and Hamza lets us know how terrible Dragonball Z on Kinect is.

Not only that, but we diss Kinect for a bit, get hyped over Blacklight: Retribution, and find out why Holmes thinks Metal Slug 3 is the most graphically impressive videogame of all time. Oh, that wacky Holmes!

This week, the derptastic duo discusses angry post-PAX controversies as Jonathan Holmes gets himself into trouble. Meanwhile, Jim has a plan to go to the Moon in yet another get-rich-quick scheme, and a British aunt who has no rules watches all the sheep walk by. Oh, what wacky shenanigans!

Also on the show, we get to learn about the latest games from PAX East, FEZ gets praised, and there's something else about some bollocks or other. All this and more, only on Podtoid!

On this week's sly episode of Podtoid, the derptastic duo exploits Jonathan Holmes' penis for fame and fortune, retroactively saves Michael Jackson's life, and discusses human enlightenment through masturbation. Elsewhere, Willem Dafoe is able to make his dreams come true with the power of a scream.

When it comes to videogames, the crew chats about Closure, Spirit Camera, and goes into great length about why you should purchase Lone Survivor. Oh, and David Cage is given some free advice on how to better improve his writing technique.

On this week's Podtoid, the duo discusses S Club 7, the art of grave robbing, and how to talk to people without coming across as a snooty elitist. Also, we devise what may be Willem Dafoe's greatest movie role yet. He'd love it, for sure!

As far as the old games go, there are vague allusions to Aliens: Colonial Marines, Jim challenges Konami to let him direct a new Silent Hill, and a compromise is reached on that whole Mass Effect 3 thing. Also, why the flippin' heck does Jonathan not like Journey? Find out on Podtoid!

This week, the derptastic duo is joined by none other than videogame music man Danny Baranowsky. We discuss his work on Hunger Games, the controversy surrounding The Binding of Isaac, and Danny's history as a composer. It also turns out that this tunesmith is more than capable of getting involved with Podtoid's less ... savory ... discussions.

From atheism to Bill Cosby to sexual deviance and drug intake, there's plenty of ridiculous chatter on offer. It's pretty good stuff, even if Danny is certain his family can never, ever, hear this recording.

This week, the dynamic duo work out a brand new reality show in which Rutger Hauer fights social injustice, and Little Shop of Horrors gets a long overdue behind-the-scenes dissection. Also, Willem Dafoe gets another movie pitch, and then there are some other things.

On the videogame front, Nintendo is deemed the Silent Hill of videogames, Konami gets a dressing down, JRPGs are criticized, and certain indie developers get put in their place. Which game dev can do the impossible and make Jonathan Holmes mad? Listen and find out!

On this week's barnstormer of a Podtoid, Jim Sterling plans Jonathan Holmes' funeral, there's sexual harassment in a hibachi restaurant, indie game developers are accused of hoarding racist propaganda, and Willem Dafoe movie pitches make their sparkling return!

We also discuss Nintendo's decision to refuse The Binding of Isaac, Capcom's latest mess, and try to help a jaded horror fan find a scary game. All this and loads more await you!

On this week's episode of Podtoid, Jim Sterling promotes himself to the position of Jonathan Holmes' personal social worker, we learn the terror of chugging Monster Energy and coffee on an empty stomach, and we chat a little bit about transgenderism. You know, the usual things that a videogame podcast should talk about. Oh, and beef tips. On a commemorative plate.

Games come up a bit, with chatter about the PlayStation Vita, our perfect Adventure Time game, and ... uh, there was something else. You know how it goes.

Yes, the rumors are true. Max Scoville is off to fight in the great war and send Jerry running for the hills. It's going to be his last show for some time, but he definitely saved his best joke for this special little episode. Elsewhere, we chat about bigotry, parenthood, the cultural significance of Ratt and whether or not Juggalos poop in their trousers.

Also, the decadent Lust Gurney fops make their grand return for one convoluted, awkward appearance.

Somewhere we mention videogames. I think we bring up Asura's Wrath and Seaman on the 3DS. Maybe something else, but who cares? Max is dead you idiot!

On a special bonus episode of Podtoid, Eat Sleep Play co-founder and Twisted Metal co-director David Jaffe chats with Jim Sterling on the issue of used games, online passes, and the strained relationship between publishers and consumers. Are gamers being treated like thieves? Is GameStop a villain? Will all this be rendered moot when digital distribution takes hold?

It's a fascinating discussion that provides a lot to think about for all concerned. If you care about videogame consumer issues, this is a podcast you'd do well to listen to!

Thanks to David Jaffe for spending time chatting about the issue, and helping to make a very insightful, interesting podcast.

On a very romantic episode of Podtoid, Jim and Jonathan discuss the difference between humor and racism, as well as best way to deal with offended people. Our heroes also take a look at some of the hottest movies on the PS Vita video store, including such classics as Two Headed Shark Attack, Krull and Evil Bong 3: The Wrath of Bong.

Elsewhere, Twisted Metal and Rhythm Heaven Fever get discussed, there's chat about romance in games, and an unpopular feature makes an unwelcome, half-hearted return. All this and more on Podtoid!

On this week's Podtoid, special sports person Samit Sarkar joins the usual crew for another carnival of stupid garbage. Why is Jonathan Holmes wearing a blanket of cats and why is he suddenly so rich? Is Max Scoville paying his child support? How many Ron Pauls does it take to change a lightbulb? Every single one of those questions is answered this week.

As far as games go, we chat about Double Fine's Kickstarter plan (and present a special Kickstarter deal of our own), some people played with a PS Vita at a preview showing, and there's some boring Mass Effect talk that ruins everybody's day. All this and more on Podtoid!

On this week's all-inclusive Podtoid, the gang talks about Jim's broken back, Max Scoville's professional recording situation, and Jonathan Holmes stabbing his landlord in the name of freedom. We also devote much time to describing anal sex with mothers, and read out some hate mail from a fellow who doesn't like us making fun of men's rights activists.

On the game front, we chat about Mega Man's inclusion in Street Fighter x Tekken, the problem with competitive gaming, and Kingdoms of Amalur's power fantasy chicanery. All this and too much more, only on Podtoid!

This week, Jim Sterling and Jonathan Holmes hold the fort to talk about hit modern musicians like Alien Ant Farm and Jason Donovan. We also chat about the impact of piracy and copyright law, Paula Deen's impact on the videogame industry, and a Predator that glows in the dark.

For something a bit more game-specific, we've got Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil: Revelations and the evolution of the survival horror genre for you to listen at. We manage to discuss it quite a bit before we laugh at more entitled manbabies and invent the world's great board game. The world's GREATEST!

On a lengthy episode of Podtoid, the gang discusses Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs, phone conversations with psychic hamburgers, and reading porn in bomb shelters. We also debut a new weekly feature in which we laugh as Male Rights Activists, we play a round of Jonny Buckaroo, and get erotic with Fern Gully references.

Elsewhere on the show, Kingdoms of Amalur is discussed, while AMY's developers are taken to task for being liars. Oh, and there's something about semen and cock biting. As usual.

On this week's thrilling episode of Podtoid, the gang discuss Hanna-Barbera cartoons, the needlessness of the prequel, and the amazing man that sells Max beer and is obviously a supervillain. We also discuss the hilarious racism in James Bond novels, and get into deep theological territory while discussing whether or not it's okay to have sex with God.

We also chat about AMY being crap, Asura's Wrath being a QTE festival, and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. All this and much more, only on Podtoid!

On this week's Podtoid, we get pretty damn vicious about Sandra Bullock, we chat about the ethics of making mental patients fight like pocket monsters, and we chat about how 2012 is going to be a "great year for game journalism." We're pretty sarcastic about that particular sentiment.

There's also yet more talk about the PS Vita, and something about some other videogames.

Despite the festivities, there's also a bit of tragedy. Jonathan Holmes is sick, Max Scoville is bad at sex and Jim Sterling suffers multiple betrayals at the hand of his own industry. Tara Long, however ... Tara trumps them all. You'll have to listen to uncover her fate.

It's a festive edition of Podtoid this week, as Jim Sterling and Jonathan Holmes relax with some drinks and memories of 2011. As we get ourselves increasingly drunk on scotch and vodka, we reminisce about the hatred Capcom received this year, the "doom" of the Nintendo 3DS, the PlayStation Network outage and the already legendary Ocean Marketing kerfuffle.

An alarming amount of time is devoted to the sexual harrassment of Jonathan, with lurid descriptions of impromptu holiday anal sex. We also chat about shrimp poop, a new TV show starring a man called Cool Christmas, and what we got for our yule gifts. All this and more, only on Podtoid!

On this week's episode of Podtoid, we are finally brave enough to say the things about Elton John that have needed to be said for a long time. In terms of game discussion, we chat about Destructoid's game of the year, Portal 2, pick some upcoming favorites of 2012 and chat about the PlayStation Vita's chances of commercial success. All this and much, much more are yours to enjoy in Podtoid.

On a fun-stuffed Podtoid, the gang (minus Tara) whines about whiners, discusses the pointlessness of the VGAs, and examines the potential of the PlayStation Vita. Not to mention, another installment of everybody's favorite advice-and-sexual-abuse segment, and way loads more. Hooray!

This week, the crew is joined by Destructoid News Editor Conrad Zimmerman to discuss Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the North American release of Xenoblade Chronicles and maybe one other videogame thing. Naturally, we spend far more time talking about how crap Donnie Darko is and how much Jonathan Holmes resembles Voldemort, The Chameleon, and anything else that's bald or lacks facial features.

On top of all this, we see a new chapter of the weekly installment that I refuse to write in text, and talk about the moral ramifications of eating Santa Claus' dead body. Oh, that Podtoid!

On this week's edition of Podtoid, we chat about the latest bit of review drama, as well as return to yet more Skyrim chatter. There's also a rather nice little discussion on why the Wii would have been the very best HD console on the market, and why the games we typically think of as representing HD aren't doing a good job of it.

Don't worry though, it's not all game talk. We learn about psychotic countertransference in a terrible new segment, we find out that a guru is selling handwritten books alongside lotion, and we get sexy with cartoon bats. Also, poor Max Scoville is feeling quite sick, so wish him well!

On this week's edition of Podtoid, the gang discusses 3D movies, the greatness of Rutger "The Rut" Hauer, and the difficulty Max would have if he was a woman. We also chat about Plague Dogs, attempt to impress Jon Stewart with satire, and get all political while talking about SOPA.

Elsewhere, Serious Sam 3: BFE becomes a topic of discussion while the state of platform games is a hot issue. Oh, and Jonathan Holmes may perform the most racist act Podtoid has ever seen ... which is pretty exceptional!

On this week's salty edition of Podtoid, we discuss the meaning of dreams, the nature of the Twilight series, and whether or not Max is in serious trouble for disturbing his neighbors while recording the show. We also get scientific with a deep study of Capgras syndrome and lament the disappointment of the "Year of Threes."

Of course, it wouldn't be Podtoid without some Skyrim talk, and we dedicate plenty of time to Metal Gear Solid as well. All this and loads more shall be discussed!

Max Scoville is out this week, but we still have plenty to talk about, and most of it focused on videogames. We discuss the utterly pathetic "controversy" surrounding Destructoid's Modern Warfare 3 review, and chat in-depth about Skyward Sword, Skyrim and Super Mario 3D Land.

Of course, it wouldn't be Podtoid if we didn't veer off the subject, so enjoy us pitching a sequel to To Catch A Predator, listen as we chat about what a man from GamePro said on the Internet once, and ask the all-important question ... is Jim Sterling real?

This week, we discuss the "Camal" toe (whatever that is), what it would be like if Bob Geldof was an Android phone charger, and take a look at the filmography of that purveyor of fine movies, The Asylum. Also, we get into a deep, totally rational discussion about people who say "First World Problems" and think they are funny.

On the game front, we discuss RAGE's silly name, we beat on that old "Online Pass" drum, and we talk about some of the negative aspects on doing one of the best jobs in the world. All that and more will rock your ears!

Please forgive the audio quality on this episode, as we ran into a few problems that couldn't be solved in due time. Nevertheless, the gang did a valiant effort of answering as many listener questions as possible this week and ... failed. Miserably. Still, we answered a LOT, and that counts for something.

On the show, we discuss Jonathan Holmes' fear of violent videogames, the merit of Japanese roleplaying games, and accidentally fall into a big political talk in which one of us may or may not have accidentally committed treason with our words. All this and a huge amount more are on this episode of Podtoid!

Also on the show, we find out that Jonathan Holmes once looked after pigs in a hotel, we complain about Gears of War 3 and wonder what's up with the PlayStation Vita. Also, we read negative reviews that people have written and laugh, laugh, laugh.

On the game front, we talk about Gears of War 3 (and the lack of a review copy), Kirby Mass Attack, and Nintendo's epic 3DS press conference. All this and much, much more on this week's intrepid trek through the shared mind of four gibbering simpletons.

This week's Podtoid has been a technological disaster. The first episode we recorded simply didn't record. As for this one ... well, it's 1:15am as this is being typed and I would like to just die.

That attitude is carried over nicely into the show. Tara couldn't make it to our re-recording, and Jonathan was late, so most of the episode of Max and I muttering nonsense, talking about the Aliens toys, and answering listener questions. Eventually, we arbitrarily decide to bully Jonathon, discuss toddler semen farms, and listen to tales of Max's sexual liasons.

In terms of videogame discussion, we chat about Skyrim, Aliens: Infestation and Dead Island. Indeed, this is a hearty pie of inane chat, baked in a crust of fine gaming delights. Get me another flaggon of ale, sirrah!

Max also confesses his strange fixation with Katy Perry while Jim quite possibly attains true demonhood.

On the game front, there's a bit of Mass Effect discussion, a sprinking of Deus Ex, and Holmes takes us through some WiiWare recommendations. Don't worry though, the show focuses mostly on the sex, vampirism, berries, Perry and evil!

We also learn the definition of "Hot Sala" thanks to Tara, and your usual Willem Dafoe movie ideas make a return.

This week's Podtoid is, without a doubt, the weirdest Podtoid to have ever been recorded. You'll have to listen to the character assassination of a dying child. You will also, if you're lucky, be able to pick out some videogame discussion.

I don't know if this is the best Podtoid I've ever recorded, or the worst. I know it's nothing in between.

This is the Scarface video we're talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uovMpapeCJQ

It's pretty awesome.

This week, the regular cast minus Brad discussed PAX East, the 3DS, and a bunch of listener questions.

Hope you dig it.

View Details

I (Anthony) don't show up until after the break, but I'm pretty sure that this week's episode is primarily about random news nonsense and an extended Games of the Week segment dealing with Metro 2033 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

Linde and Brad aren't around for this one, but Leray showed up. Enjoy.

I'd be lying if I said this week's Podtoid wasn't a little on the calm side, but our two loudest cast members are missing, and Leray and I were tired from our respective trips back from GDC. Such is life.

Either way, the Podtoid crew discussed Brenda Brathwaite's Train, Portal 2, and our least favorite videogame bosses.

View Details

AARREN, Anthony, and Brad won't be joining us for this episode thanks to GDC so we told you you were getting a listener's question episode. Well too bad, you are just going to have to deal with a real show, complete with stories and news items and sports! Instead of Jim holding the helm, Samit is in control. Can he successfully run two Podtoids in a row without a derailment? Stick with us to find out about the real, mystery identity of our guest co-host, Samit failing at #quickhits, Jim playing with his Wii, Topher's time idea, dogsuit, and much more.

Oh, and there might be a listener question or two at the end.

We restrained ourselves from completely spoiling Heavy Rain's story in Monday's episode of Podtoid so that we could spoil the night away in a special Extra Gaiden Alpha episode of Podtoid.

This is that episode.

In it, we discuss our feelings toward the Heavy Rain's story and how it handles the player's agency within that story. Jim also does a Kevin Spacey impression.

Additionally, there's a bit at the very end where right before signing off, Samit says, "well, it's a quarter to midnight." Adam cut the recording there, but we went on to decide that "It's a Quarter To Midnight" was the name of Samit's Nickelback cover band, and that the next time he's at an E3 party he has to do a karaoke version of "Hero."

View Details

This week's episode is a spoiler-free discussion of Heavy Rain, bookended by some random news and commentary stuff. Rey Guttierez also shows up at the beginning to pimp out Dtoid video stuff.

This frigging thing won't upload correctly. The episode is about zebras and "the only thing I know" and Jesse Schell, but you'll never know about that if libsyn won't get its ass in gear.

Maybe it woiuldn't upload properly because there wasn't enough text in the previous version of this post. Maybe I need more text. Text. Text. Text. Bonk bonk bonk bork.

About half of this two hour podcast is our "games of the week" segment. I'm perfectly fine with that, I think.

The other half is about Peter Molyneux, BioShock 2 and perhaps most interestingly, our favorite open world games.

Hope you dig it.

View Details

This week's episode has a pretty long Games of the Week segment (mainly because we spend a healthy portion of it talking about artgames), so be ready for that.

After the first half of the show, however, the regular Podtoid crew yaks about Sonic 4, EA's 2011 lineup, and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment.

View Details

There's some spoilery Mass Effect 2 talk in this week's Podtoid, but you can avoid it pretty easily: it starts at about the 45 minute mark and ends at 1:05:30. In it, we discuss the final mission of the game.

Otherwise, pretty typical podcast; really long games of the week segment, some slightly games-unrelated discussion of the iPad, and a few listener questions at the end. Hope you like it, don't really mind if you don't.

View Details

Blah blah blah Podtoid blah blah regular cast. I'm playing Mass Effect 2. No time for lengthy intro paragraphs.

View Details

New Podtoid. No Jim, but we got Joseph Leray. In it, we discuss:

  • Every game anyone has been playing, ever
  • Overpriced games
  • The subtle art of tumping

Amongst other stuff.

View Details

Sorry this is kinda late. You can blame Anthony, since it's largely his fault and he won't care if you do anyway. Podtoid 133 is a thing we did, which Brad Nicholson hosted, Adam Dork edited, and I was late to because someone confused me as to our start time.

You can listen to it here, or subscribe to us on iTunes, where it had better be by now, dammit. Enjoy.

View Details

I don't know what the hell this episode is about, because I don't show up until the last twenty minutes. Probably Jim talking about wanting to have sex with Bayonetta and then Samit talking about Portal.

Nicholson and Linde aren't on it, because they're bastards. Other than that, I dunno what to tell you. Listen to the episode, or don't.

View Details

This week's episode of Podtoid is:

  • Filled primarily with listener questions
  • Consisting secondarily of typical end-of-the-year rubbish
  • A not entirely convincing advertisement for The Void
  • 100% Aaron Linde-free
  • The last Podtoid of 2009

Listen to it if you want, don't if you don't.

That anime guy is one of the first Google image results for "wild speculation." No idea why.

This week's episode of Podtoid, Destructoid's Official Podcast That We Do Every Week, is considerably less intense than last week's (as little as that's saying). The regular cast minus Aaron and Brad discussed sports, the Steam Holiday Sale, game protagonists, and wrasslin'.

View Details

I really have to apologize -- this is one of the most insane, fast-paced, entertaining episodes I can remember, but the audio is awful. Adam Dork picked a hell of a week to go to Japan.

But anyway: the first half of the episode is pretty standard. After the break, Nicholson starts hosting and everything changes forever.

View Details

Destructoid is currently down.

We thought you could do with a new, sort-of-unofficial episode of Podtoid to ease you through these troubling times.

Nick Chester, Hamsa Aziz, and someone named Samit Sarkar all guest star.

View Details

This week, the regular cast sans Linde talked about Medal of Honor, the suspension of Javelin glitch users, and pretty much whatever Brad Nicholson could randomly shout out to throw off Samit's train of thought and interrupt him.

Also, Samit says something racist.

View Details

This week's Podtoid is a pretty long one. Just be ready for that. The regular cast, minus Linde (save for the last ten minutes) talked about everything from Assassin's Creed 2, to Lego Rock Band, to which of the Star Wars movies are the best.

We also have the same conversation about the Darkman trilogy, believe it or not.

You can listen to it here, as always, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Ladies and gentlemen, Podtoid 126 has occurred. This week, we talked about Assassin's Creed II, Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, blueberry pie, paid PSN accounts and Aaron Linde's Poster Shop. We managed to work in some other stuff as well, which made for a somewhat long episode.

Skype saw fit to tell us it was time to call it a night by abandoning the fidelity of Jim's mic and dropping castmembers at random, but we pulled through, soldiers that we are.Now I bring you this thing we've done. You can subscribe to us on iTunes or check it out over here. Enjoy.

Senor Perrito del Burrito says: Podtoid 125 has happened. It's informative. It's offensive. It's got lots of talking.

This week, Aaron Linde hosted as Jim, Samit and I also said things. It was pretty good. You can subscribe to us on iTunes to hear it, or listen to it here. Big thanks to IJHATT for our delightful outtro this week.

View Details

First of all: spoilers for Modern Warfare 2 and, at the very, very end, some stuff about Metal Gear Solid 4.

Second of all, this week's episode of Podtoid focuses mainly on Modern Warfare 2. Stories about the midnight launches, our feelings about the game in general and, ultimately, a really long discussion about the airport massacre level.

It's got a pretty good mixture of intensely immature humor and legitimate discussion, as most good Podtoid episodes do, so we hope you enjoy it.

You can listen to the show here or subscribe to us on iTunes.

View Details

Finally, Podtoid's officially unofficial commentary track for Resident Evil is complete. We hope you like it, because it's the last commentary track you'll be getting for quite some time.

As always, you'll need to find a copy of the movie in question to really get anything out of this episode -- and even then, you'll probably still feel used by the end of the show. Don't say we didn't warn you.

You can listen to the show here or subscribe to us on iTunes.

This week's episode is so named because I screwed up the episode number in our intro. Seems to happen with alarming regularity, these days.

This week, the regular cast minus Sterling discussed Borderlands' similarities to drugs and pornography, the leaked Modern Warfare 2 gameplay video, Netflix on the PS3, and a bunch of random listener question-related stuff.

You can, as always, listen to it here.

View Details

No Linde and no Samit for this episode, but we do have Topher, Jim, Brad, and Conrad. You will please to be enjoying it anyway.

This week, the Podtoid crew discussed Brutal Legend and Tim Schafer's subsequent "you're doing it wrong" email, Modern Warfare 2's crappy PC version, and Brad Nicholson's desire to see a dragon ride on top of another dragon.

View Details

This week's Podtoid is about Demon's Souls, a really long games of the week segment, and Double Down Browntown. I'd make that a link to Phallus Knife Fight's picture, but...you're better off finding that thing on your own.

Or not at all.

The best question this week came from the guy who emailed us (who I won't name because he didn't include an online handle). Just send us another email with your mailing address, guy, and we'll try to get some Dtoid stuff sent your way.

As promised, Podtoid 118 happened last night. Aaron, Samit, Brad, Jim and I talked about things. Beyond that, I can guarantee nothing. We did talk about boobs for a minute, though.

Anthony never writes much of anything for these posts and I'm not going to either, because I just finished editing the podcast and now I don't feel like it. Blame him for setting such a bad example. You can subscribe to us on iTunes to get the show early, or you can go check it out here. This week's winner is Halidar, just because. If that's you, send your shipping info to podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll hook you up with some sort of thing.

Yay, Podtoid bonus episode.

About a month ago, I made a rant arguing that games should be more than "just fun," and David Jaffe (God of War, Calling All Cars!) ranted back, arguing that I should "shut the f*ck up."

It went back and forth for a little while, and last night we had an hourlong discussion about games/art/fun/candy wrappers to cap the whole thing off.

You can listen to it here.

The problem -- and I think I've said this before in regard to fanart header images -- the problem with having a really kickass community who makes stuff for you is that when it comes time to share their works in an official capacity, there are just too many. I would have loved to include every single techno remix inspired by Podtoid 114 in this week's episode, but I had to settle for putting Super Mega Hyper's song at the beginning. You should still check out the Podtoid forum for the rest, though.

Anyway, this week's episode is as meandering and weird as you might expect. Linde's gone, but Brad/Chet fills in quite nicely.

You can listen to the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

This week's most interesting question, which wasn't really much of a question but still resulted in interesting discussion and a really horrendous quote from me, came from Tremulant. Email us at podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll send you stuff.

View Details

This week's episode is entitled "Guybrush" not necessarily because we spend much (or, indeed, any) time discussing the Monkey Island franchise, but because the last ten minutes of the episode consist of an audio interview with Dominic Armato, the voice of Guybrush Threepwood. I interviewed him at PAX, where I also got him to make fun of Destructoid.

You can listen to the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

This week's best reader question -- or at least, the only one we read -- came from thomasa, who should send his shipping details to podtoid@destructoid.com.

[The opening song is "Chetal," by Torzelan.]

Aaron Linde couldn't make it this week, so we replaced him with Chad Concelmo. Hope you don't terribly mind.

Then again, of course you won't. It's Chad Concelmo, and he throws out his trademark phrase within literally minutes of being on the podcast. Then he starts being mean to Samit.

You can listen to the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

This week's best question came from Sentry, who should email podtoid@destructoid.com with his mailing address because that's how we send things out to you through the postal service.

["It Never Happened" remix by Kohlstream.]

This week's show is a cluttered and slightly overlong one, but I think you'll quite enjoy it. It veers dangerously close to insightful relevance at times (the Shadow Complex discussion), suddenly switching to our typically nonsensical sex jokes until finally arriving at one of the best games-unrelated conversations I think we've ever had.

You can listen to the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

Oncomouse won the Dtoid swag bag this week. Send an email to podtoid@destructoid.com with your mailing address and we'll send you stuff.

Mevio {Mevio-ee00b6ea7ab507075ffd220469e3aae4}

God, I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry.

Not just that this week's episode is a day later than it should be, but that the episode you waited an extra twenty-four hours for is so friggin' bad. I mean, it's moderately enjoyable at moments, don't get me wrong, but...Jesus.

Double Dragon, as a film, is such a weird, awful, poorly-structured catastrophe that it often defies mockery. The film includes a character, for instance, whose neck appears to be made of two giant, sweaty testicles. His name is "Bo Abobo."

Yeah. It's like that.

Still, you can watch the thing here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

This week's listener question winner person is CaptainApocalypse, as much as anyone can be said to have "won" in this episode.

View Details

I know this week's episode of Podtoid isn't a Double Dragon movie commentary like we promised, but certain parts of the podcast make up for it. I won't specify for fear of spoiling them, but let's just say they involve Samit.

This week's Podtoid can be listened to here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include:

  • I try to be fake-mean to Samit and it comes out sounding ridiculously real-mean

  • The Red Star: just as good now as it was a few years ago

  • Crimson Skies and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter are frigging good

  • Mumblings about cut scenes and player-driven narrative

  • A particularly memorable Podtoid moment

This week's best question came from KorJax, who has almost certainly won before, but you'll understand why he deserves another prize anyway once you get to his question.

View Details

I fear one day will come when Podtoid stops becoming about actual gaming news and almost solely becomes a weekly delivery of sex and sports jokes.

Then I realize that happened about twenty episodes ago, and I stop worrying.

This week's Podtoid can be listened to here, as usual, or you can subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

  • Be prepared for Robert Patrick's Double Dragon next week

  • The Red Star is good

  • I just realized we legitimately do not mention Half-Life or Metal Gear Solid a single time throughout this entire episode

  • I think we should get an award or something

Our favorite question this week came from Stevil, who gave us all opportunities to talk about games nobody else has ever heard of. Email us at podtoid[at]destructoid.com and we'll send you a swag bag.

View Details

I know I promised Jim would be the only regular cast member missing from Podtoid 109, but Linde leaves around the halfway point for, shall we say, thermal reasons.

Either way, the episode is still alright. Conrad Zimmerman came on to replace Jim, and Topher actually says more than three sentences once Linde is out of the picture. You can listen to it here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

  • Samit's games of the week

  • Topher is tired of your BlazBlue graphical bias

  • Sam Raimi is directing a Warcraft movie, ambivalence ensues

  • Arkham Asylum review shenanigans

  • A ton of listener questions

Our favorite question came from able_to_think, who asked about trading challenge for narrative. Send us an email at podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag.

This week's Podtoid is about as enjoyably typical an episode we've ever done: it's got a good mixture of weird, unstructured BS'ing and Serious News Discussion. And the first twenty minutes consists almost solely of Samit-bashing.

You can listen to it here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

  • As promised, twenty minutes of Samit-bashing

  • Jim is prepared

  • Penn and Teller's Bullsh*t!

  • New revenue models

  • Email me at reverendanthony[at]gmail[dot]com if you're pretty decent at modding and find the concept of working on a nonlinear zombie survival game appealing

This week's question prize goes to Xhumation, for asking a question so ludicrously out of Podtoid's scope that I consider it amazing Aaron Linde managed to come up with a response. Email us at podtoid[at]destructoid.com and we'll send you some stuff.

View Details

Since the Earth saw fit to swallow up Anthony's internet connection last night, the rest of the cast carried on with the handsome Aaron Linde acting as host. That also meant I had to edit, which is why I'm writing this post instead of Anthony. Sorry to move your cheese. It still turned out to be a good show, where we talked about stuff like:

  • I'm not the only one who loved Wind Waker
  • Same goes for cel shading
  • Modern Warfare: Big F*ckin' thing edition
  • Tomb Raider needs more zombies
  • The return of Uncle Reg
  • 20 bucks in a box for $10

As always, subscribe to the show on iTunes to get it early, or check it out right here. Anthony will be back next week, when we'll probably talk about the Penn & Teller thing that skipped this week in his absence.

It continues.

I'm as surprised as anyone that we actually stuck to our guns and recorded another videogame movie commentary exactly when we said we would. Either way, it's here. It's not as good as the Street Fighter movie commentary, of course, but it's not bad. Get it here.

No highlights this time, as the entire thing is basically just one big running stream of weird riffs and offensive jokes. I will say that Guncannon's "you've lost your balls" riff is as close as we can get to announcing a best listener question. Email podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll talk.

View Details

If that header image offends you, this week's episode of Podtoid isn't going to be much more enjoyable for you. This week, the entire cast minus Samit talked about writing in videogames, Twitter etiquette, and the unusual allure of Suda 51. We also made fun of dead people.

You can listen to it here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

  • Jim-as-Samit

  • I've actually sort of forgotten what we talked about apart from the basic news stories

  • Something about integrating writers into the production process earlier

  • Then a lot of jokes about Billy Mays

  • BILLY MAYS HERE

This week's most interesting question came from Kpax, if only because it allowed us to do something we never, ever, ever do: talk about Half-Life 2.

This was sort of a listener-question-only episode because of the slow news week, except Samit found some news to talk about, so maybe it isn't a listener-question-only episode. Either way, you can listen to it here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes.

Highlights include:

  • Brad loves his nickname

  • Bloodsport

  • The importance of E3

  • The Pro-Samit Alliance will fall

The most interesting question came from Necro-Bestial Anal Butt Sex, which is a name that's as fun to type as it is to mispronounce. Send an email to podtoid@destructoid.com and we'll get in touch with you about your prize.

This week, Podtoid was initially supposed to talk about stuff like Mirror's Edge 2 and random news stories, but we got sidetracked discussing Psychonauts and the original Half-Life. Whether this makes the show better or worse is up to you.

You can listen here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include:

  • Even when Samit says nothing of sports, he is crucified

  • Evidently, Prototype is way better than inFAMOUS

  • Why didn't you save us, Milla

  • The cast discusses Half-Life for a while -- if you're still playing the Podtoid drinking game, you'll be dead before we reach the mid-show break

  • Other worlds than these

  • Hot New GrafiX, with a capital X

This week's most interesting question came from wanderingpixel. Send an email to podtoid@destructoid.com, Mr. Pixel, and we'll send some swag your way.

Podtoid returns after a two-week hiatus, and what do we spend the majority of the episode talking about? Brad Nicholson's guns, obviously. And some slightly tangential stuff regarding the 2009 E3 Business & Media Summit.

But mostly the guns.

You can listen here, as usual, or subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include:

  • I've got a video Podtoid on my hard drive, and you will never (want to) see it

  • Samit and Jim: BFF

  • Outsourcing, motion control, and sudden sequels

  • The rebirth of stealth

  • PAX: A John Hughes film

Hi everyone. Ashley Davis here, filling in for Anthony Burch. Not on the podcast itself, just on the posting of Podtoid 99 to the Internet. I don't really know what this episode entails otherwise, so no actual show notes, unfortunately. Anthony just wanted me to get this thing up for you guys, so that's what I'm doing. Hope you guys enjoy whatever this is!

The entire regular cast is back for Podtoid 97, and we discussed everything...and nothing at all. That's how it is when you base an entire episode off listener questions, and then refuse to edit out the twenty to thirty minutes of off-topic, behind-the-scenes banter.

You can listen to the episode here, as always, or subscribe to us on iTunes (which is even better, really). Topics of discussion included:

  • Welcome to Browntown

  • Starscream

  • Listen to the Parakeet

There was no way Podtoid 96 would be able to adequately follow the JCVD-tacular heights Podtoid 95 achieved last week. That will surprise no one. Still, despite the absence of Raul Julia, we managed to make do.

This week, Jonathan Ross joined Aaron Linde, Jim Sterling and myself to talk about nonlinear game narratives. And penises. As always, you can listen to the new episode here or, better yet, get us on iTunes. Whatever floats your boat, really.

Discussion topics included:

  • Pots and kettles

  • Linde the sinner

  • Our opinions on BioShock 2 are nothing, if not whatevs

  • Can a player-driven story be legitimately affecting on the same level as scripted stories?

  • Things about Nicole Wiebe

Oh yes. It's here. After two false starts and a lost bonus episode, Podtoid has finally recorded its official commentary to the 1994 Street Fighter movie starring Raul Julia, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Raul Julia.

I'd give highlights, but the entire Street Fighter film is basically one big highlight. Our commentary is but a flickering candle to the blazing sun of genius that is the Street Fighter movie.

icarus wins the question contest for this week -- though considering much of the film includes Raul Julia walking around in a bright red cape acting like a comic book version of Stalin, I'd say we all win.

Phallus Knife Fight's art is the gift that keeps on giving.

This week, The Podtoid Crew Minus Jim Sterling recorded a podcast that, sadly, does not also double as a fan commentary for the 1994 Street Fighter movie. It is, however, available here, and does, however, include discussions of the following things:

  • Jim Sterling's accent

  • The cast's boundless optimism for OnLive

  • Heather Chaplin

  • Linde's feelings toward cover-based shooters

  • "Huge slam on anteaters out of nowhere!"

  • Edugames

  • MadWorld spoilers during the epilogue

Podtoid 92 is here, and as per usual we're missing some of the cast. As you already know, Reverend Anthony is at GDC, and Aaron Linde decided this would be a fine time to deliberately break his computer, which he totally did. That leaves just Topher and Samit holding the fort with yours truly.

Here's what you can look forward to this week:

  • Doom and Gloom -- hardcore gaming was never popular
  • Should JRPGs be portable from now on?
  • The sweetest rides in videogames
  • Mario Kart 64 was the sex
  • Cel-shading always looks good
  • Fair enough, I can dig it
  • Samit bores Topher
  • The games industry WILL rape you

If I've managed to get this uploaded right, you can listen to us here or subscribe on iTunes. Whatever you want. We'll see you next week for the Street Fighter movie extravaganza!

This week's Podtoid is almost completely unlike last week's -- it's varied, unstructured, and not even remotely pretentious the majority of the time. Also, both Linde and Samit are on it, which is nice. You can, as always, listen to it here, or subscribe to us on iTunes (which is even better).

Highlights include:

  • Make sure to get your hands on a copy of the 1997 Street Fighter movie for next week's episode

  • The above art was made by Luke Barnard

  • BioShock 2 crap

  • Destructoid community lovefest

  • The joke that isn't a joke

  • No after-show conversations because the show was so damn long to begin with

The best question this week came from Darth Kupi, because it gave us all a chance to vent and make jokes at someone else's expense. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail.com and we'll send your Dtoid swag bag forthwith.

And if you want to see Luke Barnard's full drawing, hit the jump.

[The music is the Top Gun Anthem.]

This week, the Podtoid crew discusses this lecture by Jon Blow, which you should probably listen to if you have the time if you want something that -- if you're anything like the Podtoid crew -- you will vehemently disagree with but find very interesting.

As always, you can listen to the new episode here. Highlights included:

  • If you want to get to the actual discussion, skip ahead 6 or 7 minutes

  • Story meaning vs dynamical meaning

  • Challenge vs progression

  • Interactivity vs pre-baked delivery

  • Doo-doo humor

  • Phallus Knife Fight is good at drawing things

This week's question winner is pi to the 42. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail [d ot]com, Mr. To the 42, and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag.

[The music, as will be the case for every subsequent Podtoid for the forseeable future, is from the Top Gun soundtrack.]

This week's episode is an odd one. The games of the week segment, which usually only takes up five minutes, comprises almost half of the entire episode. One of the two news topics we were to discuss is shortened to a single sentence. The post-show discussion isn't that long and it's all about a single (horrible) thing.

You can go here to listen to it all.

Highlights include:

  • Linde explains himself to no man

  • 45 minutes about why most JRPGs suck

  • We told you so

  • Dante's Inferno: much ado about nothing or irresponsible and stupid?

  • The Watchmen movie: irresponsible and stupid

This week's prize goes to Mr Pibb, if only because it directly led to the final words of the episode proper. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail [dot]com.

This episode is about two things: penises and toucans. Though not necessarily in that order.

Go here to listen to the new Podtoid. Jim, Topher, Samit, and myself are in it. And Adam Dork talks, like, twice. Highlights include:

  • We spoil Destructoid's Noby Noby Boy review

  • We spoil Destructoid Discusses for this week

  • Linde isn't there

  • Linde is there

- Fighting game schools of thought: manual dexterity vs intuitive strategy

- A short post-show conversation

The best question this week came from MarkandChelle, which I guess is two people. Send your mailing address to reverendanthony [ a t]gmail [do t]com and we'll send you stuff.

This was supposed to be the Resident Evil episode, but we spend more than half our time talking about Flower. Life is unpredictable.

Samit, Linde, Topher, special guest Nick Chester and myself recorded a podcast. You can listen to it here. Highlights include:

  • Is Flower too structured, or not structured enough? Or both?

  • Seriously, though, buy Flower

  • The Podtoid image contest voting thread is up

  • Has Resident Evil turned into a 3rd person shooter? Is that a bad thing?

  • Resident Evil 5 impressions from a guy who has played slightly more of it than you have

  • For the first time ever, get a behind-the-scenes listen of our full post-recording conversation, which (fair warning) is pretty goddamn long

The best question came from Dimly. Just email your street address to reverendanthony [a t ] gmail [do t] com and we'll send you indeterminate stuff.

[The Resident Evil quotes are from this video.]

Some people have said that there are better podcasts out there than Podtoid. That...is...a...LIE. Samit Sarker, Topher Cantler, Jim Sterling and myself are out to prove it.

You can listen to the newest episode here, or subscribe to us iTunes. Highlights include:

  • More characters talking over each other, plz

  • Art criticism

  • Killzone 2 fanboyism: Jesus Christ

  • Yaaay

  • Topher dreams of a Dreamcast successor

  • It's okay to rage quit

The best listener question came from Brian Keljore, whose name I so gloriously mispronounce on a weekly basis. Just send an email with your shirt size and mailing address to reverendanthony[a t]gmail [dot]com to get your Dtoid swag bag.

[The song is the theme from The Street Fighter.]

.Every picture tells a story, and this picture tells a better one than most.

On this week's Podtoid, the reg'lar cast (Topher, Linde, Jim, and myself) talked a bunch of nonsense about videogames. As always, you can listen to the show here. Highlights included:

  • The Podtoid archives are now up

  • A contest

  • OTHER THINGS

This week's best question came from SOME DUDE. Just send me an email at reverendanthony [a t] gmail [dot]com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you a swag bag.

[The song is Shegata Sanshiro's theme. Shame on you if you didn't know that.]

Howdy, kids. It's my pleasure to announce that, following some weird iTunes holocaust, all our old episodes are once again available for download!

This torrent and this one comprise the first twenty episodes of Podtoid, when it was still hosted by Rob Summa.

21-30: Ba da BING

31-40: Ba da BANG

41-50: Ba da BOOM. Those three episode packs cover the transition from Summa to Nex, then (I think) to Linde.

51-60

61-70

71-80. The rest are episodes hosted by the current guy (me).

Very, very, VERY special thanks to everyone who offered to send me the old episodes -- especially nearos, who not only sent them all to me but helped seed them as well.

Linde died and has been replaced with Samit Sarkar. Given the way Samit performs Siegelpuntz, you'd never notice.

This week's episode was full of very, very interestingly worded reader questions. You can listen to it here. Highlights included:

  • Musings on FEAR 2 and Resident Evil 5

  • Artificial Intelligence, Shmartificial Intelligence

  • "Eh, I'll buy it after a price drop"

  • The first time a particular series of sentences have ever been spoken aloud in the history of mankind

  • Send all pre-episode 60 podtoids to reverendanthony [a t] gmail.com

This week's best question came from Mr Happyfunlovetime, for obvious reasons. Happy, send an email to reverendanthony [a t ] gmail.com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you some stuff.

If you ever want to feel suicidal for about two hours straight, just ask Brad Nicholson what he did when he woke up. Just ask him. Around the time he's finished throwing out phrases like "four hundreth sit-up," you will truly understand just how abysmal your own body is.

And then you will begin to masturbate.

This week, Brad joined the regular cast to talk about a whole cavalcade of stuff. You can listen here, as always. Highlights included:

  • Linde love Siegelpuns

  • The end of EGM

  • Bob (of Bob's Game) is potentially a genius of the highest order

  • Nintendo wants to give you the option to watch your games rather than play them

  • Muscle Corner with Brad Nicholson

This week's best question came from XanderSan, who simultaneously gave me idea for the next RFGO New Gamer Dictionary. Send me an email at reverendanthony [a t ]gmail [d ot] com with your address and shirt size and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag.

Hey, it's another Podtoid. This is one of the more directionless, meandering, weirder episodes we've done. I don't know why. I hope you don't hate it. You can listen to it here.

Highlights included:

  • A

  • Bunch

  • Of

  • Random

  • Crap

  • Also, someone make a Gentleman Dinosaur game

The best question came from Mike Hawk, who wins a Dtoid swag bag. The best dramatic reading of a line came from nobody, since nobody entered. Don't worry, though -- we don't blame you, and still love you like one of our own.

It's almost 2009, and BonerQuest is out. These are the two main things we talk about on Podtoid 81, though sadly not as much of the latter as you're probably wishing for.

This week, the reg'lar cast (being Topher, Jim, Aaron, and myself) talked about the following, which can be listened to here:

  • Brad Nicholson is more ripped than you will ever be in your entire life

  • Sting is metal

  • We unveil Chad Concelmo's Super Secret Dtoid GOTY voting process

  • The best, worst, most disappointing, and most interesting games of 2008

  • A precursor to a larger BonerQuest discussion

We ended up discussing most of the listener questions this week in our regular discussion, but randombullseye wins just because BonerQuest finally came out. Email your shipping details to (reverendanthony [a t] gmail [d ot] com) and we'll send you a Dtoid swag bag.

Header image by Adam Dork. It's that time of year for Holiday joy and mindless consumerism, and Podtoid chose to ignore both this week. Apart from the reader questions, you won't find any real mentions of Christmas -- no crappy Christmas music intro (instead, you'll get some pre- and post-show banter that would have otherwise been cut), no talk about our favorite gifts, none of that.

As always, you can listen here. There are some Metal Gear Solid 4 spoilers sprinkled throughout. Highlights include:

  • Jim tells you how to feel about Metal Gear Solid 4

  • Procedural versus scripted narrative

  • Franchises, sequels, and the complications therein

  • "I'm Bishop"

  • Beating a dead horse, setting the horse on fire, cutting it into small pieces and eating it, then defacating it out and beating on it some more

This week's most interesting question came from KorJax, with his question about "small touches" in games. Send me an email with your mailing address and we'll send you out a Dtoid swag basket.

The VGA's were ridiculous, people are afraid of change, and Sony doesn't know what the hell they're doing. These are the topics of Podtoid 79.

You can go here and listen to Jim, Aaron, Topher and myself bitch about gaming society, as always. Highlights included:

  • The subtle art of Quincying

  • If you love Sony, you should hate them

  • Y'all come back now if you evers want some food

  • Assassin's Creed on the DS is the pinnacle of technological achievement

  • Difficulty levels, and the absurdity therein

The best question this week came from greeneggsnsam. Send me an email at reverendanthony [a t ] gmail [ do t] com and we'll send you some neat swag.

We weren't around last week. This week, we make up for it by spending the majority of the time talking about sex.On Podtoid 78, Topher Cantler, Aaron Linde, Jim Sterling and myself discuss the present and future of porn games. Can they be made well? Do we want them to be made well? Is there a market for them? For how long will we pretend that we wouldn't play one?

As always, you can listen to it here, or subscribe to us on iTunes. This episode's highlights include:

  • Prince of Persia: great game, or greatest game?

  • The greatest listener email ever

  • The wanking peripheral in question

  • Bonetown, and the stupidity therein

  • Are porn games even possible?

  • Famous game locales, revisited

This week's best listener question came from Reginald, who managed to get us on a fifteen minute tangent that somehow ended in Oddworld.

[The song is from here.]

Another new Podtoid this week -- with emphasis on the new. We've got new hosting, a new Valve game to play, and a new home for our own Jim Sterling. I'm tempted to make some sort of joke about episode 77 having a "new podcast smell," but that sort of stuff is really overplayed.

Anyway. Jim, Aaron, Topher and I talked about PETA, the NXE, and the anniversary of Half-Life. Since we're now being hosted by the GamerCast Network, you can now listen to the show here, or subscribe to us on iTunes. Highlights include:

  • Space Invaders Extreme is surprisingly literal

  • Adam Dork, voice of an angel

  • Director AI: great for campaigns, less great for versus

  • Jim Sterling says the best thing you've ever heard

- Topher Cantler doesn't give a free pass to the phrase, "free pass"

  • After being forced to, we find fault with Valve

Roughly half of our Valve discussions were based of Zcdrike's question, so he gets the cool swag. Send an email to reverendanthony [a t] gmail [ d o t ] com and we'll send you some stuff.

[The song is "Comfort Eagle" by Cake.]

On this week's Podtoid, 3/4 of the cast do a simultaneous Cole Train impression which should, by any logic, cause some sort of rift in the space-time continuum.

You can listen to the new episode here, or subscribe to us on iTunes, or do the RSS thing, or just hire someone to bother you every week and tell you that the new episode is uploaded. Highlights include:

  • All dat juice

  • Take as much time as you need, Dom

  • Scratch one grub

  • NICE!

  • Have you seen my wife?

  • A GIANT WORM IS SINKING THE CITY

The most interesting question this week came from hystericswitch. Send me an email and we'll send you swag.
