On this edition of TWLRNMP we speak with James McQuillan Snr.
This was my first time trying a backing track.... sorry.
Originally from Dunloy, James has had more clubs than Tiger Woods.
He tells us how he played with Na Magha and how he became involved involved with the current set up. more clubs than Peter Stringfellow.
We learn how playing in the Antrim league has helped us progress through playing plenty of competitive matches.
James in bullish about our chances on Sunday... and why wouldnt he be. He's been trumpeting the cause to our friends at other clubs in the city to get along and shout for us.
We came back for round two as I was maybe a wee bit premature stopping the recording. Even then I missed a whole heap of stuff at the end.
We recorded this before we had James' son on so we do get a repeat of the "tickets to Liverpool" story and we hear about Blaidhan and Franz put their shoulder to the wheel for the club. It was worth coming back for a second go to emphasise the kind of dedication our lads have shown this season.
James finishes by quoting Breandan Quigley.... and not the nice things he was saying on the wireless this morning!
Thanks James, see y'all on Sunday folks.
On this edition of TWLRNMP we speak with James McQuillan Jnr. The son of a Dunloy man James was always going to be a hurler.
A late comer to Na Magha we learn about the great welcome he received at the club. We talk about the sacrifices James has made this year to ensure the club made it to this final and ensuring we do everything we can to try and achieve success.
We talk about how preparations are going and the value of having supporters there to cheer the guys on.
James talks about connecting with the younger members of the club and the huge numbers coming through the gates of the beautiful Pairc Na Magha.
James left us with this...
"We have the chance to make history and we need to grasp it"
Let's all be there to witness it.
Breandán Quigley was born into Na Magha and has been a key figure in and around the club ever since. As a player and coach BQ has contributed hugely to our many successes throughout the years and through his work with the younger age groups his efforts will be evident for many years to come. We learn about the GAA community around the world, especially his time with Paris Gaels and about his time playing for Derry. We learn about the cameraderie and spirit within the club and talk about the culture being engendered within the club and how that will help us continue to grow and develop. We talk about winning with the club and what that means to play alongside guys who will be there for you all of your days. And then there's the upcoming Ulster Final... We will circulate the details as they are available. Na Magha is important to a great many people. It's clear from this podcast what it means to Breandy and the rest of the boys. They deserve our support. Lets give it to them come final day. Thanks BQ Na Magha Abu
Congratulations to Aaron on his performance in the Derry Junior final and on his new appointment which is a hugely positive for the development of hurling and camogie in the city.
