The May selection for the Radio Bookclub is The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook by Hampton Sides. On July 12th, 1776, Captain James Cook set off on his third voyage in his ship the HMS Resolution. Two-and-a-half years later, on a beach on the island of Hawaii, Cook was killed in a conflict with native Hawaiians.

Hampton Sides chronicles Cook’s last journey and delves into modern attitudes towards Cook’s exploration and his legacy.

The April selection for the Radio Bookclub is the Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones. This is the final book in the Indian Lake Trilogy and sees the return of protagonist and final girl Jade Daniels.

The book is set four years after the events of Don’t Fear the Reaper and Jade Daniels returns to her hometown of Proofrock, Idaho, after serving time in prison after taking the fall for her friend Letha.

Jade must face her demons and the curse of the Lake Witch to save herself and the town.

This show was taped in front of a live audience at the Boulder Bookstore on April 2, 2024.

The February selection for the Radio Bookclub is Little Souls by Sandra Dallas. This novel is set in Denver in 1918 against the backdrop of World War I and the Spanish Flu outbreak.

The book tells the tale of two sisters — Helen, a nurse, and Lutie, a carefree advertising designer at Neusteter’s department store.

The sisters end up caring for a young girl, Dorothy, when her mother, their tenant, dies from the flu. Then a murder turns their lives upside down.
